Add recent call to existing contact? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Is there an easy way to attach a number belonging to a received call to an existing contact item?

Yes click on call history, then click on the number and a menu should appear - save to contacts - voila!

It has been a deam of PPC users but till now there isn't a direct way to add a number in call history to an existing contact.

I know. It really sucks. Why do they assume that every call without a name tag is a new contact. Maybe a fix in WM6

Sorry misunderstood you - i know this sucks, ha ha but we are use to it, its microsoft after all lol

how do you dial from a note?

I put a phone number down in the notes of my appointment by mobile outlook, and when the reminder pops up, I just want to click and dial the number -- not select it, activate the dialer, then menu>paste and finally dial.
In my old blackberry, all I had to do was enter, 'tel:555-1212' and it would automatically convert it to a link -- click on it and the number was automatically dialed.
Is there an equivalent in WM5?
Also, I noticed that I can't just send ANOTHER text msg to someone in my sent box -- reply sends a message back to ME. Forward has me enter the previous number again. Am I missing something?
Interesting, a friend of mine and myself are also interested in this feature !

Tried it. Doesn't work on my phone. Is it supposed to?
Did you add a space or line feed/return after the telephone number? Mine doesn't create a link until one of those is entered.
That works, thou I thought about something else.
I'm using Pocketbreeze and what would be great would be to be able to call persons you added in the list of persons included "add person..."
like to be able to choose from a list when the notification appears.
Guess that's not possible atm
I think that that has been requested over at SBSH's forums but I don't remember if it was a planned addition or not. However, if Amit responded like he usually does, he will probably add it at some point if he can.
As far as PB, if you have PB set to show the note icon next to appts or tasks, you can tap on the note icon and it will open the preview window. Tap on the link and it will dial as well. No opening your PIM needed.
One other thing, you can also create a direct link to email as in the example below:
MailTo:[email protected]

5$ USD paypal to answer this question.

When an appointment is created in either Outlook then synced to the device or an appt is created directly on the device(WinMo Pro) that contains a phone number in the title or body it is not clickable. No matter how I do it. I even tried prefacing it with "callto:" but that doesn't dial... If you can give me an answer that works I'll deposit 5$USD into your paypal account. Thanks. The point of this is when I'm driving and an appt pops up to call someone and that number is in the appt I can't just click it to call. Often times not calling at all(short term memory).

*sigh* what hes saying is, even after creating an appointment through the computer or directly the device, a scheduled appointment with a phone number inserted isn't click-able or dial-able. Its Just there displaying the number.
Basically he wants phone numbers in his appointments to be able to shortcut to call it.

Correct. When I receive a text message with a phone number it is clickable/dialable but not in a Calendar appt... My question is "Is it possible to create a linkable/dialable phone number in the Calendar just using Outlook or the built in Calendar app on Windows Mobile Pro?"
oh....i thought he wanted to make a shortcut to a Tel no.
I think Pocket Informant does this. Perhaps a commercial app is what you need.
I think I understand what you're looking for.
The only way for outlook to enable a call link in an appointment is to assign people involved as attendees (it's the 9th option in the "new appointment" form in mobile outlook and the second button from the left in the "new appointment" form toolbar in Outlook 2007). Assigning attendees to appointments will automatically send all attendees (with email addresses in their contact info) an email notification of the appointment (unless you turn that feature off) and provide a link to each person's contact info. You'll be able to press the "call" soft button in the lower left.
I hope this answers your question and you can keep your $5
try this:
In your calendar, if you quickly want to dial a phone number from your calendar, just type tel:”phone number” without the quotes (e.g. 4251234578). The phone number should get underlined. If it doesnt get underlined, try some combinations like putting a space after the colon, removing the space, etc. Now when you view the appointment just tap on the phone number and it will dial out.
If this works my email paypal is [email protected]

WITHOUT THE SPACE BETWEEN tel: and phonenumber

Am trying this directly on my device. It doesn't seem to work. Callto: does however make a "link" but when I click it nothing happens. I'll try some more though and thanks for the response. Whatever way I do get it working I'll def pay the $5. It's beyond worth it to me.

Because there seems to be a bug, typing tel: in outlook is removed during the syncing process. You could just put the phone number in outlook, and when synced, you can edit the note to insert "tel:"
add tel: to the front of the number as well as a space after the number. If this doesn't work it must be your version of Windows Mobile.
or you could just add the person as a contact and make him an attendee.

Install Pocket Informant, if you use your calendar and contacts like I think you do, then you'll love that program. Here is the link for the latest .cab file. It's a trial, and if you like it then you could purchase it. I've used it since having my Wizard.

Just select your language and WM version.

How to tell time of call in call history?

Is there a way of showing the time of each call in the call history list?
..when you click on the call you have the duration!
Thanks for your reply, but it was the time of the call, not the duration, that I wanted - e.g. call received at 6:28pm. When I click on a call it simply re-dials the number

Instead of clicking on the call, click the contact card on the right side.
This will list all calls from that number with times.
When I click the contact card to the right of the call details it either:
- does nothing (if the number is in my address book), or
- asks me if I want to add the number to my contacts (if the number is not in my address book).
Is this behaviour configurable to get it to work the way you describe?
May be default config for WM6.5.
I assume you're on WM6.1?
I tested with both calls from address book and not in address book, both gave me times.
Yes I'm on WM6.1. Anyone know if it's modifiable behaviour?
i'm using wm 6.1 stock rom, go to menu then choose call history then you can click contact card and see the date, time and duration for any number even if it is not saved to address book
but when the call is from an unknown number, it will do nothing when I press on the contact card. You can only see the date of call if the call was not received today...

I'm not actually using TF3D - I use SPB Mobile Shell 3. Is that maybe why I can't see call history for numbers which are not in my contacts?

favourite contacts

Hi!
Is there a way (a tool or sthg like that) to add several numbers to a fav contact?
E.G. I added my wife to my favs but I can only chose to call our home number or her cellular. It is not possible to add her with our home number an add her additionally with her cellphone number. That´s annoying. It would be nice either to add a person twice with different numbers or once with a pop-up where you can chose the number to dial.
Has anyone a solution for that?
Regards,
insi
This is frustrating me as well. I want one person to appear twice on my People Favorites (one with her home number and one with her mobile).

Having both!
If you add a favourite with any number, and you press the image itself, it will call the pre-assigned number. But if you tap on the name just below, you will get the contact card.

nice tip, these should both be in the tips sticky.

One more thing about this junk...

Did you notice that it's not possible to add a missed call/received call/outgoing call number to an existing contact in the address book using the dialer app?
You can't even copy and then paste the number manually into the address book. So, you have to memorize the number, or write in in a paper, and then editing the contact.
What a piece of crap.

Sorry but what are you talking about?
Do you have the correct firmware actually?
I mean you can perfectly add any number to contacts,
I do it all the time. The dialer is perfect BTW.
And actually all the new numbers from dialer can be simply written in Notes and copied from that.
I honestly don't know what is the problem with your device
but it's certainly not true.

BTW, You can't copy/paste numbers from the dialer app into any other application.
And I've have MR2 firmware.
And in the Xperia X1, you can add a new number from the dialer to an existing contact (a contact that's ALREADY on the address book, not a new one).

You receive a call from an unknown number.
You answer it, and you notice that it's Mr. John Smith, one of your clients. You already have the Mr. Smith contact on your address book. But, this number is new because he has a new cellphone or a new cell line.
So, you might want to add this new number to the ALREADY existing Mr. Smith contact.
BUT YOU CAN'T.
It's that difficult to understand?
In other phones, even my old Z750, or the X1, or of course the iPhone, you can do it.
If you can do this, can you please tell me how to do it?
And not, i've tried again and YOU CAN'T COPY A NUMBER FROM THE DIALER.
Jolo.
Yes this is a crappy bug. My phone behaves the same as Jolo complained.
However there is a workaround.
Can you imagine a bug that also has a bug? Well this one has. In Phone app, go to menu>options>advanced and tick add new phone number to Contacts at the end of the call. When this box is checked, at the end of the call you will be prompted to add the number and yes it allows you to select an existing contact to add the number to.

Every WM device has that too.
should you try this?
from dialpas screen:
menu/tool/options/advance = tick to ADD NEW PHNOME NUMBER TO CTC AT THE END OF CALL.
after your phone call - x2 ask do you wanto to add, it will come up default wm6.5 contact and you can easilyyyyyy add it ...
happy trying

It works here fine.
Ok so the fact is you can copy numbers from Dialer to Notes
but only in the space you actually write number, not from the history.
And I usually add numbers from this prompt so I didn't see that adding from the history makes a new contact.
It's interesting if it's a general WM 6.5.3 thing though.
