YES there is a solution to get the time back in the topbar! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

The battery icon in the topbar of new ROMs bothers a lot of people on this forum! Levenum has posted in his topic in the 'development & hacking' section a (partial) solution to our problem! His program works! But covers also the volume indicator For now: congrats to Levenum!!!

Wow that's great. However, I am sure that most don't want to do an addition by subtraction. Hopefully, somehow this can be tweaked even further to just cover the battery and not anything else.

Yeah.. moreover.. I think most people want to get rid of the battery and put the standard time back there, rather than essentially 'skin' the taskbar by slapping a clock on top. You may also wonder what happens, for example, when using MagicButton - does it cover up the Magic Button bar if it's set to "entire taskbar" ?

it works also well with MagicButton.......

Works for me No problems with Magic Button so far.. ..the time is nicely hidden when "Cover Full Title Bar" is selected

For as long as there is no other BETTER solution to the taskbar time problem, I think this is the best way for now. You're free to develop a tool yourself but i'm verry gratefull to Levenum!

wooo, calm down I'm sure it is the best solution for now, and I'd be happy to use it if I were on the AKU2 rom and it doesn't interfere with other things too much

definitely can't knock people for trying. we need more of that. for me losing the volume icon isn't that big of a deal but what does this cab actually do?

Ok, something wierd is going on here.
I just successfully installed the custom 2.17 ROM on my MDA. I expected to have this problem you've all been refering to about the clock, but I'm not. Mine is still there, same as it has always been. So is the volume indicator.
The only thing I'm missing is the battery icon in the lower right hand of the screen.
Is my phone the devil?

Great work! BTW, you can still edit your volume settings if you click on the "clock" in the top bar, you just don't see its current status. For now its the best and at least someone has tried.
The work IS appreciated!

Maybe - try placing a post in the following thread (wouldn't want this one to go off-topic, eh?) with the name of the ROM you installed and whatnot:

See the original thread mentioned in the first post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45084
Summary: It adds a Today Item which lists both date (on the left) and time (on the right) -including Swatch @Internet time- using a custom string (e.g. "hh:mmtt" = "09:48am"). In later versions, an option to place a clock on the Taskbar (the top bar) was added. This clock simply 'overlays' on whatever may be there otherwise, which would typically be the new AKU2 ROM's battery indicator icon, and for most people the volume icon. Work is currently underway to make that Taskbar clock only appear when the Today screen is active, and have users be able to define the horizontal position of the clock - both to alleviate the issue of overlapping icons that /are/ desired.

Large horizontal Battery indicator

Hi,
until recently, I had a nice coloured battery indicator at the very top of the screen, over the whole width.
I uninstalled iLauncher because it used to much space for me, and installed TrayLnch instead. Now that battery indicator is gone, so I guess it came with iLauncher.
Is such an indicator available separately?

Batti is wat you're looking for:
http://pda.jasnapaka.com/batti/
You can customize the colors that are used in the topbar indicator!
there are 5 stages for which you can choose your own colors:
- normal
- low
- critical
- charging
- A/C
And you can also select a margin on the left, the height of the indicator, and at wich levels you want to switch to "low" and "critical".
Looks great, thanks
There is another thread for this, but do either of you know how to get RID of the existing battery icon in the tray itself? I as well use a different battery displayer (spb myself) but I hate the one in tray.
Also, 1-2tje, what are you using at the bottom of your screen to show you current loaded applications? I have the first icon on the right side, but none of my other running apps show up.

So far nobody has an solution for the batteryicon in the topbar!
The icons at the bottom of my screendump above are not running programs! It are shortcuts created using PHM TrayLaunch (use search) . however some programs place a icon in the bottombar while they are running e.g. tomtom, while other programs don't place an icon there. Therefor i think this is program specific.

I downloaded this version
The only differance between this and the one already found in the othere LG today plug thread is dciNoBar.exe so no need to register to get what you already get strait of this side
and no need to make a new thread for things that you could have added to the other thread
Got it. Looks very exciting! Thanks.
It look so nick,Thank you !
what is the use of spacer 2 here?
It works great, the only real point of it is it removes the bottom bar of windows mobile (aka the soft keys) when you are on the main screen. The file is safe as it is really the same files we already have here, just packaged together for ease of use.
The spacer program is actually a quick fix for making the buttons show up on the bottom. I did notice a good value on it was 69 when using only the htc home plugin and the buttons, with the bottom bar enabled. and 94 with only the 2 plugins and the bottom taskbar disabled.
does any one have that all black theme we see in the screenshots?
heres a black theme but it doesnt say htc on it.
is there a way to configure this thing or are we stuck with it the way it is. i want to edit what the icons open up.
I want to edit the paths of the shortcuts, for example, usb stick to wm5torage and the globe icon to destinator... looks great in my HTC Touch, a screenshot of it:

still looking for the theme from the orginal screen shot.
has anyone got this theme??? it looks sick...i want it on my phone :)

I am also interested in the .tsk from the original screenshot. mushipkw, which battery meter are you using?
I figured I would give this a shot on a clean install of DCD's 1.6.7 ROM. Memory usage dropped from 27.52 free to 19.xx after installing this today plugin. It looks perty and works as described but that's just too much memory for me to sacrifice.

Today CommManager (skin BatteryStatus)

Hi,
Here's the last skin I made for BatteryStatus.
It's designed to be only a "Today CommManager", like Effcomm, but more graphical.

- hold 1 second to have a little menu appear to select options concerning the item
Install :
- install batterystatus advanced (http://www.chi-tai.info/download/BatteryStatusExt.1.05.CAB)
- copy the dir and the XML file from the zip to \Windows\BatteryStatus
- change the theme in the options of BatteryStatus (Advanced Tab)
I also put the "older" version :
WirelessSwitch
Same features, same install, different look.
Tested on a Kaiser with stock ROM.
Enjoy
cool , super ton idée ton skin ..
it beautifull, great idée ;D
Very nice, looks great and works well. Great for people like me who are too lazy to open the real comm manager.
Cool, thanks!
just a question : what is the calendar plugin you use on the today in the DiamondWSwitch picture ?
I try to find something that will just display enough calendar info without scrolling bar on the right.
thanks
Bug feedback
Hi,
I'm using the Wireless Today Switch, which I think is fantastic, so thank you for the effort that went into making it. I have disabled the background by removing the line in the xml and the background png. I think it is line three. Anyway, one think I have noticed is that when you press and hold the phone button, whether the phone is on or not, the bottom option in the context menu is always "Turn off phone". The functionality works, i.e. it does switch the phone on when it's off, but the text is wrong. I'll have a look at it later myself but do you know an easy solution to this? I'll post the no background edit with a screen shot later today.
Cheers,
andrew-in-woking

iPhone Theme/No WiFi (Perfect for HTC Touch)
Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread, but this seemed as appropriate a place as any to post this.
Though skinning and such is not my usual forte, I put enough work into this that it's only fair to share. This app was exactly what I was looking for when I decided I wanted a bluetooth on/off switch on my today screen... but, I really wanted it to match my iPhone icons. The result is attached. I've eliminated the wifi toggle since my HTC Touch has no wifi.

[Q] How to display clock and battery on top taskbar?

Does anyone know how to display both the clock and the battery in the top taskbar? Thanks
Would like to know if this is possible too.
I don't neccesary need the time in taskbar when in HTC Sense, but when I'm using an application, it would be nice to see the time.
+1 I have wanted the same as well ! please can someone help? i dont want to have the colored battery icon that replaces the start button, nor the spb pocket plus battery. The 1% increase battery icon with a clock please

Agreed. If possible no third party add-on apps. But, if all else fails....
+1 Would also want to see the clock and battery icon in every application (which allows taksbar)
It would be great to have both the battery and the clock in the taskbar. If not, every time we must go to the home screen to see the clock!

kBattery v1.1.9 Freeware
A couple of notes:
- This is a common annoyance for all WM Phones below and including 6.5.0, the other forums are flooded with the same kind of requests.
- To my knowledge there is no registry hack to get both.
- You can customise the width and position of the battery/clock.
- It is essentially an icon that overlaps, not replaces, other stuff on the taskbar.
- In my screenshot, I moved/expanded it so it covered the Volume and Battery icons.
- I'm not sure if it works on the HD2 (getting it in 4 days), this is a screenshot of my X1.
- Switching from Portrait > Landscape and vice-versa, there will be a small delay before the battery location moves to the right place. Very minor inconvenience though.
- No system hog as far as I can see. Battery usage with and without the same.
just tried it on the Leo. Works perfectly thanks for the tip btyeh.
Thanks for the tip. Though I cannot find how to configure the app, and by default it looks really bad and it is not placed properly.
I would prefer a totally different solution than this, but I guess it is pretty hard?

Touch and hold the icon to go into the setup menu.
Thanks, configured it in the best way possible for the HD2. Still not loving it, I can't make it any smaller (less wide) than this, and in some windows the new icon is a little slow to catch up. It's a nice try, but definately not the ultimate solution for me. Deinstalling...
One screenshot showing it on Sense, the other one showing in Resco Explorer with the X in the cornor.

Thanks for the tip. I've tried it for a day and I like a lot the way it looks. Unfortunately it makes the animations in Sense stutter a little bit. Take a look at the clouds on the today screen and notice how they stutter. When exiting kBattery the lagging disappears.
Too bad... the search continues.
I downloaded kBattery v1.0.3 at http://sourceforge.net/projects/kbattery/ and now the stuttering is gone. Unfortunately I can't change the position of it. Maybe there's a version between 1.0.3 and 1.1.9 that can move the clock/battery and that doesn't have the stuttering. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find such a version yet.
UPDATE: I managed to change the position of the clock/battery icon on v1.0.3 by changing HKCU->Software->kuchin->KBattery->Position to 450
Now it looks perfect and the stuttering in Sense is gone... BUT in landscape the icon is in the middle in the taskbar. I think it's placing the icons based on pixels from the left edge of the screen instead of from the right side. Since kbattery 1.0.3 is open source my only hope is that someone who knows how to can change the source code so that it calculates the position from the right edge of the screen.
How can I take a screen dump of how nice it looks in portrait mode? (I'm still new to WM, have only had it for less than a week)
Source code is available here by the way ;-) http://sourceforge.net/projects/kbattery/files/Source/KBattery 1.0.3/
I have been using Ariel Battery. Sorry can't remember the link. It only displays the battery. It's ok but is a bit slow sometimes when updating the background, ie. sometimes when you move from a solid background to a transparent background, the background of the clock is still a solid color. Would still really like a more native solution
BattClock
Recently I made a stripped down version of the BattClock of TouchLockPro and StylusLock, for people not needing my locking solution. See www.zuinigerijder.com and XDA-developers thread

There's an extra taskbar

A couple of days ago the alarm clock in my Mini sounded, so I tried to take it not looking at it, touching the screen, buttons and who knows what else. The thing is, when I looked at the screen, there was a new bar!
It looked like this
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

Not exactly, since that's a quick Photoshop work I've done, but you get the idea.
Does anyone know to make it appear again? It was the first time I saw it
just tap at left of edge icon (E or G).
Could you specify where exactly? (in a picture or something). I'm trying what you said but I only get the Notifications window
Exactly below The H of HTC logo at top.
Thanks, but that only takes me to the notifications window... have you seen the image I posted?
i think that might be appearing due to any of insatalled application on my device. and yes it is as per the screen shot(not photoshoped). A zoom button, clock, connectivity, battery, etc.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, but I haven't installed anything like that, that's the weird thing
There's a guy in a Spanish forum who saw that bar once also, but no idea how he managed to show it
i saw a similar taskbar but disappeared the same way you mentioned before
Same here...i was reading a buk using adobe reader when i accidently pressed taskbar..this another bar poped up but was gone next second....i tried several times after that...got it one more time..but not after that..
taskbar
I have this piece some times after I have established foreign taskbar crept out!
I got it. Install X-task. and u will get it every time.
Do you mean this one?
I don't really care about having that taskbar or not, what I'd like to know is just how that happened and how can I see it again.
Mine didn't show and disappeared again, I pressed the zoom icon and my screen zoomed in a lot. Then I tapped the X and the screen went to the normal view, with no taskbar this time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606162
go for this.
The bar you've seen is probably the original WM 6.5.x bar which is normally hidden by default, due to the HTC bar, might be a bug if this old one appears.

I guess if you disable/uninstall HTC Sense... but dunno how
I've tried that. Didn't work. Still get HTC notifications.
