SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT FOR HTC MAGICIAN - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

i've been using the O2 mini for a couple of month & have done all the upgrades that are mentioned in this forum.
I still belive that HTC can make a lot of improvements for all its products coz we all pay a reasonable high price for them.
I am quite happy with my mini but i still think it is a jack of all trades master of none.
I therefore decided to make a list of some of the shortcommings..
i hope most members will add to this & hopefuly HTC may deliver us a better product.
here goes
QVGA screen for 256k res
Bigger Rom
More RAM
Faster Processor
WI-FI
USB2.0
Better quality of speakers..Sterophonic sound is bad/jars[look at sonyericsson/nokia]
Better lens for camera[sonyeric again!]
Better software for camera
FM radio
this is just for starters...
regards all,
frz

O2 Atom???
Regards,
Arto.

Well it seems to me that the newer devices are more to your specs.
Don't get me wrong in this, I agree with your list. & I'm very curious what next year will bring us.

Are you guys sure you are in the right forum ?
This is Universal Forum and not Magician
Cheers

Yup I'm sorry, noticed it that too, maybe a mod can 'move' it to the magician forum.

I have a Boss GT-76h hoover. Do You know which are the best settings for the dust bag? It stucked hoove-loader mode. Anybody has the latest DustiveSync? I'm using 0.004beta. I'd like to buy PollenCommander 2.4, I hope it will solve the problem.

Hi T,
That pollen extension is very good, I'm using it for three weeks & no allergic reactions anymore. Where did you get DustiveSync 0.004beta? I used 0.001beta and that was so sluggish and hard to get rid of too :-( Now I use a thirdparty sync called MustSync but that only works when connected to an AC socket, very strange. I did manage to get 1200rpm though with it & that's only 50% performance decrease, so I'm very pleased afterall.
If you have any great tips for the Boss GT-76h then post them pls, maybe we can even get a forum for it!
Ciao, M

Hi Oltp!
I bought DustiveSync on the PollenGear.com. You can find it if you put it to the Search. Buy it now this is on a special sale, just 1359$!!!
Yes I heard that problem about MustSync, but the only method to work with it is to upgrade your hoover's SocketRadio ROM, but a lot of people said it is a lot more expensive with the electricity costs.

PollenGear.com ? Oooh man that's so obvious, I feel so stupid should have known that. I usually go to VacuShop.nl great service next day delivery, in Dutch though. Those guys from DustiveSync are good, they even sell there beta's?? I tried my beta for free 9 months ago. Am I saying 9 months funny my wife birth to an elephant last week.
Can it be?
BTW ever been to dust-developers.com? Great forum full of tips & well can't say that without being a sexist, check it out yourself I'd say.
I've got to pass on the special offer, last month I did a wireless extension for $750 & now I can't afford much more.
See you, M

Yes, They sell beta's. After Macrodust Loosedows products they diceded to make unfair businesses like them. For this news leader of Macrodust ( Kill Bates ) had a terrible reaction: they suspended Loosedows XP's selling and prohibited any using it. After that PollenGear.com site was crashed, and Macrodust had hoovered all the remaining software-dust from the internet.
Now Macrodust's saying: We are laughing at the end!

Yeah I guess they've won, they really crushed a lot of others. Don't like all off the MacroDust products, but I secretly admire Kill Bates. What ever he does, he does very good, really kills every other in the market. I'm way to soft for that. I probably have other capabilities, probably :-( not so sure anymore after crashing my previous, known indestructible, PowerDust G4. It was really blown to pieces after the modded cooling was replaced. Took me a fair two days to get a new hoover & remove all partikels.
One last question did you try VacuPal?
Best regards, M

Yes

Apparently no one likes our discussion, it counts > 130 views & only two contributors. So I'll go & entertain some others. Maybe less off-topic.
BTW Budapest is a nice city, been there a few times for business at Metro 7 years ago.

Yes, our capital city is a very nice place. I live here on the top of one of the cities mountains. There are a lot of beautiful top-view in Budapest like ours.
Don't worry about these off-posts, all this thread is a HUGE off-thread.

Oh I'm not worried. It was frz who was having an off-day posting this Magician topic on an Universal board ;-)
Too bad I quit working with the company I worked for at that time, otherwise I could have easily visited you someday. Now we don't travel that far for holidays, three little kids in the car isn't a pleasure on a long journey.
Sounds like you're living on a good spot.

It is a good device but too costly...
I would recommand new buyers to wait for a while, so that you get a trouble free device for less..
I really dont understand the idea of this... They sell Device with bugs and problems for very high price and then after a while when the probs are almost fixed they come down.... Isnt that suppose to be other way around?
Of all the criticisms, I don't think it's expensive. OK, I bought an MDA Pro with a nice subsidy from T Mobile and not a sim-free Jam Jar, but even so, it's a good price. Compare it to an HP Hx4700 and, say, a Nokia 654321i or whatever a current phone is called  Looking at retail or launch prices, you'll see that they add up to pretty much the same price or more.

what problems???? my jasjar is the most stable ppc phone yet...i havent soft reset it once in over 3 weeks now.. doesnt hang ...everything is working.. this is superb piece of device (i shod know ive had pda2k,pda2 and jam.... and all of them had their weak points but jasjar doesnt have any (not talking about the price...coz if you wait it will come down...or if you know anyone like i did i got my jasjar for 3800 dirhams unlike many of you who had to pay well in excess of 4100 hehe)

I completely agree, my experience is exactly the same, however, there do seem to be a few people around here with underperforming devices. Guess we're the lucky ones (But I'm sure everyone will be happy sooner or later...)
I like to way the Jasjar works and it's stability, although it is a bit bulky.
HOWEVER, I got mine on Monday last week. On Wednesday, having loaded everything on it and got it working exactly the way I wanted it to, I twisted the screen from phone mode in order to close it, felt a slight resistance and......guess what....yes, the feed to the screen was broken.
I guess this was always going to be a risk with the revolving screen but, really! I'm awaiting the replacement.
It's more usable than my SPV M2000 thanks to the keyboard but it is that bit bigger.
Oh and the fact it crashes my PC doesn't help either
If ur a housewife who uses it stock-standard with the awful PIM and shocking today screens - you'll be stable and happy. If you are a bleading edge techie (which is probably why you've already got one of these) then you'll have hard reset at least 2 times by now, and will have discovered the myriad of issue that require fixes (BT, PIM, 3G connection TTL, notification sadeamon dups, working player vs chip stepping, etc etc). This is much like WM2003 was in the early days - all issues eventually get solved by software. But for now it's tough battling to find suitable solutions.
personally, I think my time could have been better spent on making money and waiting for the October-1 ROM to evolve 1 more generation.
funny thing is those who complains a lot about the Universal always claimed that they're techsavvy i could prolly say that I'm one of those "idiots" that's quite satisfied with my JJ. I'm annoyed with some of its problems but satisfied overall with its performance and I don't mind waiting for the upgrades to come.
This damn device is droolworthy for sure! There are certain memory handicaps, os problems etc., but i'm sure things would be sorted out over time....
MS has wm5 in its early stages, and i-mate (or whoever) has been bold to release it...as far as i remember, there were a hundred ppl cursing MS for not releasing WM5, for which the JJ launch was being delayed....and i'm sure, all of you would have hoped for a release even though wm5 is not yet fully done and packed, and wouldnt mind an upgrade once complete....face it, its so damn gorgeous that you could'nt resist!!
The memory handicap is definitely a big issue, and i'm sure there trying to fix it, if not completely, atleast to a stage where its practical to use.
I'm wondering if O2 delayed the launch of the Exec, because of these issues??? hmmmmm!!!!!!
San
This is by far and away the most stable ppc I've had yet. Considering it offers vga screen, wifi, BT, keyboard and its a phone(3G also), I dont mind the size. In fact I personally prefer something with weight. Yes there are issues as there are issues with all relatively new devices/OS, but if u want to be at the forefront of cutting edge technology, then this is it...Obvoiusly, its horses for courses so its not everyone's ideal choice...but thats why there IS a choice.

Regret buying Shift(HD Connection problem with Vista and other things)

Eversince i purchased HTC Shift i regreted every moment.
Firstly it started off with two dead pixels on CENTRE of my screen soon as i turned on my first UMPC
Secondly, later i realise wireless network is so slow that only getting around 500kb/s ( when i am connected with Wire this issue disapears) but this issue only transfering files between computers, i guess this is well known issue.
Thirdly 3G connection died on vista(not in Snapvue), first i read threads and recomended me to soft reset snapvu, then i used hard reset from the patch which didn't solve anything so finally i tried FN+f3 which was totally waste of time. (p.s. changed power plan to high performance)
i spent all day reading all the previous threads tried to fix my first ever UMPC and could not find any solution and can't believe paid so much for this bull**** pc.
i understand people are trying to improve the Shift community with inventing or developing new ideas but personally i feel like you guys are the ones are who are fixing HTC's problems by spending 1200 Euros by purchasing their design failure.
i expected more than this by spending 1200 Euro which took be long time to collect by not letting my wife know, i could just buy HP 2133 and i am sure i would be out of any trouble and it is nearly half the price.
Please i seriously need some help with this, my thread sounds very negative about shift but only reason for this is because i know this device worth if it works correctly.

What does this have to do with your shift? Your wireless network is what it is. Shift has no control over that.
I like my shift. Is it perfect? No, it's not. But I didn't expect to have the power of desk top in the small package. It does do what I wanted. It keeps me mobile without hauling a lot of weight around.
My wireless connections range from great to poor.. but that is not Shift's fault. When I am in a metro area with a good network I usually get between 700K and 2000 K downloads. I am happy with that.
stop comparing devices that are so much different

How can you campare prices for the shift and hp2133? the hp has no touchscreen, no snapview (or something like that) no builtin wireless modem, no gps(will soon work on the shift), the shift is smaller and ligther. its like those people that compare the price of eee and shift, fine you dont like the shift but stop making a foul out of you self comparing prices on so different products.
and by the way i like my shift, had only very small problems. take a look around at the forum at www.umpcportal.com and see what problems others have with different umpc brands and then come back and tell me if you still think a hp 2133 would be with out any problems

Yup Right, I agree with you
I also seems happy with my shift although it still can't make a phone call, But I believe it would be
And about the mobility factor, never doubt shift I think.
The weak point just the battery power in my opinion because, the phone, gps, sd, and such for me it will be done
lol all three of you guys or girls didn't even read properly.
isn't it so obivious that Shift and HP can't be compared? and what i was complaining about was reliability not portability, and if there can be any solution to above issues i have mentioned.
Dean when did i mention about poor wireless? lol
i said wireless works fine when i am using internet (i can get up to 2MB/s)but just when i am trasfering data from another pc it slows down. ;D and this issue is well known all over the internet.
Finally i didn't ask you guys opinions about Shift, i love the Exclusive design and features comes with(with all works well) i was just expressing how depressed with issues coming up with my shift so if well knowledged person sees this thread he could direct me to right way.
I had both for a few weeks. I sent back the 2133. It was too slow. Much too slow. Regret the Shift if you choose, but don't beat yourself up over the 2133. With the C7 cpu and Vista it's practically unusable.

I think this is just a constructive comment for our beloved shift brothers! negative or positive, its an avenue where we can improve especially those who are deep in tweaking this device. I just bought mine 2 days ago and really love the device. Just give it a few more months and we will see lots of new things with shift similar to what the creative guys did to Himalaya and Universal, among others. We are still in the doorway brothers! Enjoy the shift and don't sell it

I have sold my SHIFT. So glad I did it.
i haven't installed SP1 on shift yet.
but luckly (i guess) the shop i have purchased was nice enough to give me new device.
currently everything working fine but i hope previous issues doesn't come up again.
i have a question regarding windows update.
it gave me option to install updates for drivers, is it wise to update it or should i always leave it out?
finally i never see installation option for SP1 is this normal?

I must say, I have thought of that too.
However, I could find no alternative for the Shift.
All other UMPC's out there are no good for me.
So, although the Shift is far from perfect, it still is the best device out there for me.

p1620 fujitsu?
Huib
Hey, to the original poster, sorry to hear about your issues. I hate it when I save up for something and feel let down - I know that well. Maybe this new one you got will be better? I assume it is another Shift?
The Fuji's are nice - looked at a U1010 for quite some time but it's tiny keyboard and chunky feel didn't do it for me. Beautifully well made tho. This other Fuji is quite a bit larger than the Shift.
Thankfully I have read everything I can on the Shift, including the bad and I still bought it "eyes wide open"...in my view the deal makers were:
- size...the best mix between form and function I could find
- keyboard - as above
- SnapVue - even in it's restricted form, access to emails and a keyboard to respond quickly saves me setting up b/tooth boards and my Hx4700...very convenient. The fact we can liberate is even better.
- 3.5G
Not so good -
- I don't like the battery life , and with the Fuji I almost found this to be a deal swinger....but I rest my hopes on HTC or someone else making us an extended one.
- Some potentially dodgy driver/compatibility issues with Vista/hardware etc...again, I trust updates from HTC will fix these over time.

Wow, I am back here..

As an old XDA user, (my last was the XDA IIi) I have fond memories of using this forum and been reading reviews on the HD2 has led me back here
Its so nice to see that there is a community of people still working away
OK, I am still wavering on buying one of these things HD2 (that is if Vodaphone actually do have stock and if I am convinced that Vodaphone is the best way forward as O2s 3G coverage is crap where i live)
So my Questions:
How much has the OS progressed since my old XDA IIi? One thing I would love to be able to do is alter web pages and FTP them to the server, does software exist for this yet?
My major pet hate with the XDA's was the loss of everything once the battery expired.
had an iphone for last couple of years and trying not to be blind sighted by all the positive stuff i am reading bought the HD2, but severely tempted!!

That was my first windows phone, and boy was I laughed at all those years ago for having a phone so big, with a 3.5 inch screen. My next 2 phones had 2.8 inch screens and everyone said "Wow, nice phone!" I thought it was a backward step going smaller - So I dread to think what people think of a 4.3 incher! lol
Phones were good back then, and that phone was great. Not too fancy, but fully functional. And for me, I know a 3.5 inch 360x240 res screen is better than a 2.8 inch 640x420 anyday! And that keyboard worked... it was an add on, but it worked.
There's a lot of change; but then nothings changed. Some things, like your "today screen" have gone, but has it been replaced for the better???? I can't tell you, it's a personnal thing, but yes I think it has improved, but you can get the XDAii feel if you want. Except it'll be a lot quicker!
I hope someone else can explain it better. Basically, phones were good back then, then they went crappy, now.... coming along again???? I haven't got the HD2 yet (I have a Touch Diamond) - yes there's some probs (minor/major?), but boy has this phone got it's share of knockers from the Ifone community! Rattled? I don't know. All I can say is I have a 160gb Ipod. It is good for playing music, until you want to put music on there, search for stuff, watch films... at the end of the day, I find it fecking annoying. But it is good, I'm told. Each to they're own.
This phone seems to have a fair share of WM newbies going for it too, and they don't have the know how or patience to get the best out of it. They give up after 2 hours; I'm still tweaking my Diamond after 18 months!
You either "are", or "are not".... you "will" or "won't"! This IS the Dark Side, and I like the dark.
My first phone was a very large vodaphone, in 1992, then i had a Hutchinson Telecome Mobile (Orange!!) then I think I had a Motorola Startac
then the tiny Sony (Z5?).....
These days I prefer a phone for internet access rather than speaking to people.
I have been relatively happy with my iPhone, but miss the fact there is this little community of developers all working away with an opportunity for hacks and cracks!
I love (!) the idea of being able to have to carry 2/3 extra batteries around with me!
Is it a pain to keep hot swapping the MicroSD card? I read somewhere that they can take up to 32GB , but have yet to find more than 16gb
The idea of having unlimited storage to be able to carry around with me is appealing
16GB is the maximum available SD card size ATM. 32GB cards were announced relatively early this year but never made it to the public. I hear Apple is just buying all the flash memory available out there.
Storage will always be limited by 32GB as that's the maximum theoretical SDHC capacity.
Swapping cards requires removing the battery cover, but other than that it's easy (i.e. it doesn't require to turn off your phone or anything).
SDXC will change that (talking about terabytes theoretically), but no devices support that.

[Question] Is HTC HD2 Worth it?

I'm pretty much looking for a long term phone, looking forward to watching movies, playing games, surfing the net, etc. I've used Xperia X1 (was great for a while, but little to no official support), the iPhone 3g (quick, way less laggier than the X1, great for mindless games to kill time)
Guess what I am asking is, is HTC HD2 worth the buck? $500 SGD (About uhm 250 Euros) for the phone (incl 2-year plan)
As you can see from my signature I've had a LOT of phones in my time, but never been very happy with one for very long.
Finally , at least for me, the HD2 will be something I'm going to own a very long time to come. It really does everything you could want in a phone/media player/comms/office/game device...all be it with a good bit of the expected modding and tweaking that comes with WinMo And if you can get it as cheap as €250 then I wouldn't think twice, go for it.
But remember my analogy for having a HD2/Leo. It's like having a child.
You have the painful labour pains of paying for it (€700 in most places). The joy of holding it for the first time (unboxing it)
Then like a child, you need to teach it how to work properly (modding and reg editing). Also like a growing child, you need to put up with it's little annoyances now and then (the odd bugs that need fixing). After that, you need to teach it to be interesting, (add apps, themes etc) Basically if you're willing to put in the work it's going to be worth every penny/cent
Thanks for the quick response! Appreciated! Yup, one thing I love about WinMo devices is the huge community(Actually the HTC Community) which allows me to pretty much customize the phone Another question, is there any major bugs/flaws that I might be concerned about? Because I've wanted this phone ever since the rumours surfaced and the hype made all the more irresistable lol
Yes, the HD2 is worth every penny!
There are a few flaws out of the box yes. Some have speaker issues, screen over/under sensitive, pinkeye camera, and a few more, all of which can be fixed with some reg edits and a few cab files. You can find all the fixes and tweaks Here.
The only as yet unfixed problem is the SMS issue. Some people (not me) who have over 200 or so SMSs (why don't people use the delete button?) notice a slow down when replying. But who uses SMS anymore in this modern age of emails, twitters, Google wave, Facebook and what not Anyways for the SMS issue I think there is a workaround until HTC come up with a patch.

700 euros in most places??.. no way
But to stay on topic.. imagine when it is summer.. how will you carry your Leo with you?.. so I find that a better case in the package would have been absolutely no luxury!
Then you have the software flaws.. device.exe sometimes crashes the phone totally.. the htcmessage performance.. the camera... seems to me that Leo had to be released..
seems to me like a business decision.. release it now albeit with software flaws and fix them later.. it turned out to be not a bad decision
but.. if you use Leo with navigon (my preferred navigation software) then you will be in for a real treat.. the same if you use it to browse websites.. so as always it depends
on your usage..
Like Jagnet, I've owned a rather odd collection of phones in my life. I've never been keen on Smartphones as I was rather disappointed by them during my little spree of owning them during 2003/04 and was put off since. I went as far as considering "a phone is just a phone, nothing else" and swore by living in the dark ages by avoiding Smartphones (even though I was working as a promoter and technical adviser for Windows Mobile back in 2003/04 >.<).
The HD2 was something that caught my eye earlier this year and is the first phone that I've waited patiently for, it certainly was worth the wait! Apart from the odd niggles you get from the phone such as the SMS bug and the odd lag, the phone works great (lets be honest here, there are always minor niggles with any phone you get, even my Nokia 8800 Arte, retailing at £1100 at the time I got mine had awful bugs which took over 8 months to fix and there are still bugs that remain).
Much fun can be had with the HD2, the great community behind it (you are looking at it now ) and modding. I've spent endless hours customising it to meet my needs. After a few weeks of playing about with registry / system files and hard resetting, I've now got a phone that does everything I want, customed to how I like and works flawlessly...
apart from the bluetooth compatibility issues...
and the battery life incomparable to non-smartphones (however, the HD2 does very well compared to most smartphones on the market)...
and the marketplace which is in need of some love...
and having to change my handset due to a dodgy touchscreen within the first 4 days.
On the games front, you will be disappointed when comparing it to the iPhone but there are a few good games around. On the apps front, if you ignore the Windows Marketplace and Google around, there are plenty of places to buy good apps from. It's just the iPhone has a good app store that consolidates all apps into a nifty marketplace for you to browse.
Windows Mobile needs you to put the effort in ownership, but in many ways, I see it as a good thing. You get the flexibility to do what you want, on phones such as the iPhone, you are controlled to what you can or cannot do unless you "jailbreak". The iPhone is user friendly, everything is setup for you and for those looking to get a phone that does everything the minute you take it out of the box, it is a product for you. The HD2 fairs well with HTC Sense and it's a good starting point for HTC and Windows Mobile, there is still the horrid Windows Mobile 2003 look lurking in the background though.
Thanks for the replies fellas, appreciate it I am getting my HTC HD2 in a couple of hours, and I hope I won't be disappointed I'm pretty much looking forward to unboxing my 'child' (like how jagnet put it Most of all, I'm looking forward to WM7, though from what I've read it might take a while, but as long as it is worth the wait, I'm cool with it...
It really is like a new baby, because you will breast feed it every 2 hours.
Hi Ive had my HD2 for a few days and to be honest its been a difficult transition form my iphone 3GS which was very simple and easy to use but the 3gs is very basic and doesn't allow for real working integrations.
Its been buggy, very slow compared to the 3gs, the keyboad for some weird reason is of center which is a nightmare to type on compare to the 3gs.
The phone isnt as simple to use as the iphone but for some weird reason i still want it and still want to get use to its quirks.
I have another 10 days left to see if i am going to commit to an 18 month contract, just wish i new what the new iphone was going to be like when released in june.
Its like anything personal choice your will either love it, grow to love it (as hopefully i will) or hate it.
Good luck
Worth it?
If you owned an xperia then you have something to go on.
Leo is WM but with the HTC hardware & shell.
I used to own a Ducati.
My experience was, it was sensational to ride, no other bike comes close, but it had to be kept in tune and maintained. Riding it in the traffic to work would put it out of whack and it would need a nice long blat on a country road to make it right again. High performance and superlative handling made it a unique experience.
Where am I going with this?
Oh yes, performance and usability.
Clearly this is the fastest and highest performing pda phone you can get.
This, and the sense ui make it a great experience.
It is not such a good analogy as heavy usage doesn't put it out of tune so much as excessive poor quality 3rd party apps and too many untested mods.
This is partly why the though of an iphone full of crapstore junk turns my stomach, because if it could multiask, it would choke on the garbage it was running.
Sense iu means I can access what I need in a minimun of steps, but with wm6.5 underneath, I can reach down and tune it to do what I want.
Contrary to my analogy, the stock rom on Leo is pretty good, with a few fixes needed, nothing as serious as having to take it back to the store.
As a stock phone it is great, but it can be modified(tuned) to push the performance envelope and make it even more usable.
As a Ducati rider, I found it very hard to step down to anything else, and as a Leo user I'm the same.
The promise of simplicity makes me cringe as it translates to settling for mediocrity.
Mobile phone hand held computers were pioneered by HTC.
This is the latest evolution.
I love the Leo.
@Xaddict; Well said, I just got my HD2 and I'm loving it so far, knowing this community, I am looking forward to the the custom roms/apps that will be available to everyone soon (I hope) And regarding Ducatis, love em, especially the 948

There will always be a newer, nicer phone 7 months down the line....you have to commit sometime or you will never own anything!

Um, firstly there are NO current fixes for the loud call volume or call distortion problems. None whatsoever.
Neither are there any fixes for the over-sensitive keyboard. Yes there is a CAB floating around and it helps to a very small degree with text input but it also makes the screen less sensitive in EVERY app and every screen. This isn't helpful.
Secondly, SMS is still the most popular form of mobile communication....by a country mile....so to try and cover up the fact that the HD2 is severely crippled in this area is laughable!
We need some balance here folks. Yes the HD2 is fantastic for web browsing and video but it is shocking for calls and texts - the mainstay features of a mobile phone. Hopefully HTC will address these problems but it is in no way guaranteed that they will!

Well, no phone is perfect. But IMO, the HD2 is THE device that comes closest to being perfect.
It has some small bugs that will get fixed soon or can be fixed manually, there's different opinions on the keyboard and call quality (some say it's the best ever, some hate it) and Windows Mobile, just like any other OS (iPhone OS, Android, Symbian...) has its flaws as well.
But compared to the problems/shortcomings of other devices, the HD2 has very little issues, great hardware, great software - the closest you can currently get to perfect, IMO.
So yes, it's worth it.
Oh, and don't take sunking101 serious. He's a troll and a whiner, spreading FUD against the HD2 since the first day he entered the forum.
definitely (but i don't have the sms problem and i can charge my phone at work)....

Gosh, I actually thought you were making a sane and rational post until I got to the last sentence.
The OP is asking the pros and cons of purchasing an HD2. Therefore all pros and cons are relevant.
As for the HD2 being "the closest you can currently get to perfect" - that is your opinion. Not fact.

And so is all your whining.
On topic: yes, the HD2 is worth every sigle dime. And yes, it has some shortcomings (which phone doesn't these days with the speed they are propelled into the market). The only problem I have with the HD2 is the speaker volume which is too loud. But, I have to admit that, it got much better after upgrading to the 1.48 ROM.
Off topic: Maybe it's best not to reply anymore to the contributions member sunking101 delivers to this community. Saves a lot of time and yes/no discussions.
It's well worth the price .

Htc Hd2 bye bye

Well after 5 months with this baby I finally decide to sale it, I was one of those who purchase it when they just appear on the market past December.
I got the pink spot, wish was practically solve by HTC also and worst bug I got was distortion sound with echo plus some times unable to rise the volume.
Also scrolling contacts was very tricky, I spend few months in how to find a way around with it and thanks to xda and you users, I learn a lot about WM
En plus so many crashes, when ever I push my phone to his limits ones he got hot he will crash.
Well during five months I learn to live with it I ask him the minimum and under that circumstances he would not crash
So what I got today day is a since 2 days new Htc Desire and so far fantastic! I been pushing this new baby to his limits and no one single crash, the sound is ok plus I can do a million things I could no do with the HD2
By the way I bought the Piel Frama case Htc Hd2 here in Xpancys Hong kong and I wont be able to use it, if some one there who happens to live in Shenzhen or HK I am almost giving it away paid 60 euros want 20 mint conditions
I haven't fallow much whats up with the hd2 lately, but I am sure many new things have change thanks to xda, so I am sure you are all enjoying your phone as much I did even he gave me some headaches

Good bye for HD2 section. Hope this will be the last time you are here. Way too many thread like this.
I played with Desire and it's really boring, and even sluggish when I just slide some page on Sense, press a couple of apps include web browser. Browser speed quite good but not as good as it is advertised, the screen as well.
I can say to u that HD2 can do million things that Desire cant. My HD2 never crashed for normal day usage, only crashed if I install stuffs at my own risks. And it never gave me headaches, just gave me curiousity of what I can do more.
Anyway, good luck and wish u happy with ur choice this time.

so your phone is a guy?
This is my question - all of you out there who know that windows mobile 6.5 is a dead os for lack of a better term and also know that the development for apps for it is going to taper and die off at some point, I'd like to know what exactly is keeping you with a dated OS on a high end phone that will eventually hit a brick wall if it hasn't already with regards what it can do and what the OS will let it accomplish.
I just feel that the phone is such a waste with being limited to wm 6.5 yet having the power to do so much more. Frustrating. I was one of those who did the daily normal usage thing and it couldn't keep its wits about it. Not fun.

Why get an HD2? Because it can email, surf, navigate, game, shoot video and take pictures, take notes, create documents, play music and videos, other stuff I cant think of - and make phone calls too in a slim, stylish, good looking power-packed form that represents the state of the art of current WM phones, why would anyone NOT get an HD2?
My HD2 was with me this weekend on a trip to Minneapolis, stopped over in Chicago, no free wifi so I tethered my laptop wirelessly, in MN connected it to my laptop again iwth my cable and played the music on my storage card, used it to wake me up next day to get to the airport on time, in between made some calls, got my email, and it worked perfectly. I never once felt I needed some "app" to make my device more useful, it all just worked. Shame you cant see beyond the "apps" but as far as Im concerned, its far, far from a dead end.
i just bought my telstra hd2 and so far have no problems. i bought it knowing that wm 6.5 is some what a dying breed but still has lots of apps and uses. i do believe that others will start pulling out of developing apps for wm 6.5, just like skype and adobe.
its ashame that the hd2 might not be upgradable to wm 7 but the dev out here are great and may make things happen.
i dont care too much about android but it would be nice to have this option for newers apps and so hopefully when my hd2 gets boring, the port of android may be feasable. i would rather like to see a webos port over android tho.
good luck with your new phone.
Threads like this are dumb. Move on.
That said, your Desire is boring.

Lol I am not poor, withing the past 300 days I bought 1 nokia 5800, 2 nokia 97,1 nokia 900 wish i send back the day after and finally since 2 days 1 Htc Desire
So I think to have some experience with mobile phones, they all have the good and the wrongs even desire has one thing that I don't like Cannot select and copy text of your incoming sms....! The only work around is forward and then you can work on the text.
And yes I am hunting the no bugs, super ultrasonic mobile pone hope to get it before 2020 lol
my HD2 is also a guy with the leathercase my HD2 looks like an
Hellsangels-Member
but come on ... stop this stupid postings about our new and FU*KING-GREAT devices like iphone ...
Good Luck
..with your Desire..
But i think some guys, like you, miss the point!
Devices like the Androis's/AlppleOs's are Phones with extra's, so you can call it
"Smartphone"
The HD2 is a Smartphone with extra's , so you can call it "PocketPc/PDA"
BTW: The HD2 is something between PPC and Smartphone and this
is exactly what i've searched for.
If i wan't to use a "phone" i take
my "Nokia e66" (it also have a very good office sync and similar funktions to the HD2 - Wlan,Gps,OfficeTools) and i will be happy.
Otherwise i want to use a big f***ing 4,3" touchscreen (with WM6.5) and i'm much more happier.
So..please.... if you don't want to use your HD2.. sell it and shut up.
PS: the Desire is a very nice phone, too!!
(sorry for bad english)

dude, if you actually bothered to know more than one language, you would realize that a lot of languages actually have words with grammatical gender, which makes this kind of error quite normal
I opted for the HD2 when i could have Desire... and I am very happy with it... maybe I will think about Desire 2 when its out
