HTC Wizard Parts - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I have heard somebody had found a place that you can order basically just about any HTC part, but after hours of searching I cant find anything. I think the post addressed where to get HTC replacement stylus, but the link provided in the post went to a website that offeres all kinds of differnet parts for the Wizard. Does anybody know of this post or where I might go for HTC parts?
Thanks!

I would like to know as well as I want to get an english only keyboard

i need this too!
i need a mainboard and battery cover.
oh and stylus. dont think the ones i got on ebay will be right. [don't have them yet.] stupid ebay.

I called HTC America and they are NOT willing to sell parts....I needed a replacement power switch for my 8125 (broke it putting it back together after replacing screen).
I saw a different thread here with some part numbers for Digi-Key and it turned out to be the switch that is used for the Camera/comm/voice buttons. (Digi-Key part #P12280SCT-ND--I have 4, let me know if you need one) In the end,I ended up buying one from Pocket PC Techs $15.00 for the power switch. After comparing it to what I have found on Digi-Key, I have narrowed it down to part #P10849SCT-ND. Now (hopefully) you won't have to pay Pocket PC for your switch like I did!!!

Fitting a Vario screen

Hi. My special needs son used a set of keys as a stylus and has made a couple of holes in the screen. I am in the UK and can buy a new screen for £65 on eBay but can find no instructions for fitting it. The firm will fit it for me but this cost an extra £25.
Anyone help me out please with some information?
Thanks,
Doug
Can get a replacement if I knew how to fit it! Anyone know please?

It's amazing what you can find if you use the SEARCH function instead of bumping your own post the same day....if you were that desperate for it try searching yourself next time?....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=43836
In fact, my friend, I used the search function before I did anything and it came up with about a thousand hits of which the first hundred were no good!
I am quite desperate for this information, hense the bump before it went off the page. Keep smiling.....
Doug
Learn to use the search engine? It came up straight away if you use the 'all words' function....and I attached the link for you but you obviously haven't realised as 'you are' desperate for the info not 'you were'...
Oh well. I'd just pay the £25....
Thanks for the link anyway. I have downloaded it but it looks so complicated, I will pay someone to do it anyway.
Sorry to be a bit sarky, the link was appreciated.

Another reason to get the screen vendor to fit the screen is that there are 2 possible screens for the wizard - unless you have opened the phone before purchase you will not know which, so if they post you 'a' wizard screen you may get the wrong one and I doubt they'll take it back. If you send them your device it's their problem if it's the wrong one, just watch they don't blame your board for being faulty and try and charge you anyway.
Some vendors sell magician screens saying they fit wizards and this is true in some cases but not all. The 'wrong' screen will display strange colours and look washed out or not display anything.
From experience, most ebay screen vendors etc don't actually know this.
For the total price ( £90) why not try HTCEuropes's service dept if you have a t-mobile vario? They don't touch o2 devices and may be slightly more than £90 but they will fit the correct screen and your warranty will not be invalidated.

Wizard or Hermes?

Hi guys, new to the forums here, but very glad i did find it! Anyways here's my situation. i just recently got the wizard aka T-mobile MDA from a friend of mine. He didn't keep it in very good condition, but otherwise it works just fine. I have upgraded the phone to WM6 and love the phone! However, it bugs me that the phone looks very worn. I thought about upgrading to the Hermes and selling this phone off or just replacing the case through ebay ( now that i found the instruction manual). Anyways, i can bascially trade this phone AS-IS and 50 bucks more for pretty much a brand new hermes, or spend about that much and risk messing up the phone tryin to put on the new case. What i want to know for all those Hermes and Wizard owners is how much better is the Hermes? i see it has a few more buttons and the added scroll wheel (which i kinda like). But what about the keyboard? which do you prefer. Any help is much appreciated. THX!
had a wizard and absolutely loved it. now got a hermes and couldnt live without it. for me the hermes is far superior. never had to soft reset, easy to upgrade roms thanks to mrvanx quality how tos, quicker (better processor) etc etc...
I prefer the Hermes on so many different levels. The keyboard is a bit easier for me on the 8525 too.
If it'll cost only $50 more, it's an easy decision (it would be for me, anyhow).
soo Hermes? One question i have is with the rom on the Hermes, is it stable? i installed the crossbow 1.7 for the wizard and it seems pretty good and i saw they have an official rom they are about to cook up. Does the Hermes have anything like that?
The original WM5 Rom is fine. But, this is XDA-Developers! So the jump to WM6 is painless and easy. There are many great, cooked ROMs available too (w/ an official WM6 upgrade coming soon).

One other question, i have a car charger for the wizard, it seems that the plug is the same for the chargers, would this be the case and i can keep the car charger? or do i have buy a new one, also i have a couple of extra stylist for the wizard, would this fit into the Hermes? AH! one more thing, i would love to keep my phone protected, does anyone use a protector case and if so what kind. i want one that wouldn't be a pain with when using the outside buttons. THX
You can use the same charger, no problem. The connections a little different looking on the Hermes, but it'll fit and work normally none the less.
The stylus from the Wizard will work and fit in the Hermes too.
As far as a protector case, I'm not a fan of those at all. I use this...
http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/CING8525.html
It's clear and covers the entire body and screen. It's WAY nice. Just a thought though.

Question: WHERE are you getting that $50 upgrade? If I could have an unlocked Hermes for $50 I'd be on it like my cat on a gecko (they seem to be his favorite "natural" food!)! I bet it's a new contract, right? grrr ...
Statement #1: The one real beef I have with the Wizard is that the keyboard is not "true" QWERTY, in that the key rows are not "offset" or "crosshatched" like the keys on a standard keyboard. That seemingly small difference drives me nuts and really slows my typing. Hermes, I see from pictures, has the "correct" offset so I'm betting it's easier to get used to.
Statement #2: I'm with TaurusBullba on the Invisible Shield. I have used them on PDAs and GPSr's for a couple of years now, and wouldn't go without one. It might seem steep for what appears to be a bunch of plastic strips with adhesive, but the stuff is pretty tough. Just be patient when applying the pieces and your Wizard or Hermes will come out looking as great as ever.
To tempt you more, I will pass along an email-only discount I got just recently: 20% off all smartphone shields AND 20% off all Cell Phone Shields. Just don't tell 'em where you got it!
Wow cool THX! bascially i found someone local that i could trade my phone with and would pay 50 bucks more for the hermes. Anyways i will definitely check that Invisible Sheild out, it looks Great! and THX some more for the coupon codes you guys have been great here.

Wizard parts, where to buy

im looking for someone to direct me to a place where i can get parts for my Wizard..
I dropped my phone the other day, and the power button seems to have broken off the circuit board, this has happened before as well i just resoldered itmyself, but it has come to the point where the leads are about to fall off the switch..
And recently i also ended up breaking the rocker switch thats required to adjust volume on the phone and the speaker.
I need a place to get those 2 switches.. anyone have any idea where to look!!
thought about a new phone, but i just cant live without a touch screen and keyboard now i want my wizard back up and working
Thanks
First...help save my phone is the LAST thing you want to type if you want help. We will post simply to tell you to read the damned stickies. I am assuming then, that your phone was not insured. If it was in fact insured, it probably can be replaced using insurance, or I'd suggest ebay or craig's list. Good luck finding parts.
whoa sorry man.. i was just having a little fun.. didn't mean to be demanding there or anything..
I did have a look in some of the stickies, and faqs infact i posted in the buy sell trade broken thread too.. i thought id just ask again if anyone has had any luck buying parts from other sources..
Yes it is not insured..
and HTC america doesnt seem to have the parts.
that's all no need to get angry.. i apologize for my topic
I apologize...I was not angry, I simply was trying to say that we get so many "help..." threads, that often they get passed over, or looked at simply for us to say RTF stickies. I think you will get a better chance of help for parts if you topic'd it as such.
I still think that barring the busted wiz thread, ebay or craig's list would be your best bet. Also, you may check HoFo...they used to have a thread for folks selling busted devices.
oh ok... sorry about that then
yeah ive ben making the nightly rounds on hofo, craigs rfd, ebay not much luck the ones people are selling are working condition lol and a good chunk of change. I guess ill keep scouring.. if i find nothing i might just head over to a few small electronic shops and se if i can find a different switch to replace it with..
honeslty i was checking out a few other phones, and for those on a budget, feature wise you just cant beat the wizard. i dont think i could ever go back to a non touch screen phone.

Legend Repair

Riding home today, I had my loved Legend in my jacket pocket and the zipper failed, letting the phone come out and skip down the road at 70+mph. Luckily, my parents were following me on four wheels and noticed. By the time they got my attention and we made it back, we couldn't find the phone at all. Using my Mom's phone I jumped on mylookout and made it scream. After finding it, the results literally almost made me cry.
After only two weeks of owning the most perfect fitting phone I've ever had, I now have this:
(56k/mobile warning)
https:// dl. dropbox .com/u/6609249/DSC_0869.jpg
Any one have any ideas as to where I can get it repaired? I obviously get calling HTC but I wanted to see if there were any other recommended options available.
I don't want to be pessimistic but I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of a new screen+chassis+labor is more than the cost of a replacement.
I had a very similar problem with my Legend. HTC will repair it for 270 euros..

As of today, that'd be 341.22 USD. Purchase price was more around 500 through myworldphone so l have some figuring out to do. Guess it's time to start posting some stuff up on craigslist.. I *MUST* have this phone back, new or repaired.
I will say about the quality of the phone that it still operates just fine as the music unpaused when I hit the optical and I've been hearing notification/alarm sounds, if I could only find a way to control it through PC. I've tried screencast but can't get the phone to be recognized through USB (I'm assuming doubletwist is autoenabling the USB drive mode, not allowing the phone to switch to "sync" and I sure as hell can't do it)
Any ideas there?
I find it quite amusing that the phone is still in one piece. It is truly a sturdy build, 99% of all phones on the market would probably be separated into a zillion small, small pieces after taking that kind of hit.
Still i shame though. The picture made me shiver at first glance.
OMG...i feel freakin sorry for you dude will try and help you...google...here i go!
ok, i could find you the digitizer...

or here...
http://cgi.ebay.com/Touch-Screen-Gl...ccessories&hash=item3a5b46a6e6#ht_1977wt_1168
will try to find the chassis and the buttons.
I feel sorry too man, I love the phone because its one of the best build phones I cant get a scratch on the screen!

I ended up ordering another off of Amazon after taking mine apart to analyze the damage. Previous posters were correct, it would cost just as must to order a new so friend took care of me and got me another.
Interesting part is that (I'm assuming this) the first phone (also from Amazon) seemed to be from Europe, as the default language was UK English or whatever. It also came with a black A/C adapter plug.
The second phone came in with "CN Thai" as the default language, ultimately causing me to just give up changing it and root the phone. Anyway, that phone came with a *white* A/C adapter, no english defaults, Java and one other app starting with a P that was *not* on the first phone.
I wonder just how many out-of-the-box ROMs there are for "unbranded" phones...
Check your ROM version, and post it here.that is an asian version for sure...
Just root your phone and flash the wwe rooted rom.

[Q] HD2 LCD screen

Hi everyone!
I got some questions but first off I'll go ahead and give the background story of everything.
I bought my HD2 about 2 years ago, now when it finally got payed of (20/01 -12) of course I dropped it for the first time ever and the lcd screen totaly 'died'. I have always loved this phone, but to send it to an repair-store is not an option as it costs 1789 SEK (Swedish 'krona') -is something like 269,03 USD. Not much maybe but for an 2 years old phone, thats too much. /Money I rather spend on a new phone..
Tomorrow I will most likely go and buy the Galaxy Nexus, but still think the HD2 is worth saving, what im thinking of is to order an LCD and try it myself. If I make it worse well, then It wont matter.
My questions:
* After searching for LCD's they say "..for model T8585"
- I guess all HD2 (exept T-mobile maybe?) has this model-nr..? On my box anyway its say T8585.
* Some stores that also say "for model T8585" also say "only US"
- Well, I guess they dont mean "only shipping in US" as its the same store/site that sells other not saying "only US". Is this model-restrictions and how will I know the screens will 'fit' my Leo?
* Is there anything else I should look for exept the model number (T8585) to be certain that it will work/fit ?
Also I will attach a picture of how the screen looks like turned on so you maybe can tell me if I need to replace more than the LCD (Digitalizer/touch screen)
I saw another, old, topic about this but the picture was gone and I guess he could see and then thereby use his cellphone to test if the touch-screen/digitalizer worked wich I cannot.
Might be hard to tell, I dunno..
-If anybody know an reliable store/site that ships to Sweden that sells screens or right screen you would make my day if you could provide me with link.
-Also if they dont/or if you dont know -ship to Sweden; please provide link.
Another question that doesnt have anything with this topic (other than I would have needed this 3 weeks ago ) if there is somewhere to find an Otterbox case for HD2? I know they dont support Leo no longer but I will purchase it for the Galaxy Nexus also so would be nice if it could be found for HD2 also.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: And yes, I have searched the forum. All I find is dead links, non-helpful etc etc.
Oh thats not so good
I dropped mine a while back and cracked the screen big time. Decided id repolace the digitizer but it was only when i got it all apart that i found i needed more expert knowledge than i possess to put it back together. Which all meant another £50 to buy a digitiser/lcd combo. Theres plenty on ebay, such as http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110758732279?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
You could always ask the question about whether this is the right model for you. They should be able to help.
Its a bit of a faff to fit the new screen, but if your in the middle of a contract and cant do an early upgrade it is possibly an option. Or just get another one if you can upgrade....

You should buy whole combo(LCD+touchscreen) in order to do a fine job(it will be much easier for you this way, with good quality in the end). Doing like this it doesn't matter what version/type would be (US or whatever), 'cause they are interchangeable: some rumours indicate US version to be better by quality.
Ebay could be a source for you...
Good luck!

Thanks alot bib*oops, that was of great help!
I was actually thinking of buying a combo, lcd&touchscreen, as Im not 100% sure that my touchscreen still works as it should.
-Didnt know the rest (about the screens) so thanks, oh hundreds of thanks to you!
How can one choose combo assembly?
There is one for T-Mobile HD2 and one for European HD2.
This one says that its for T8585
http://www.ebay.com/itm/120745779165?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Is T8585 only european? Or are they both(T-Mobile and European) marked as T8585?
Is this one compatible with european?

Yea I had the same question but then saw something somewhere saying that T-Mobiles version of HD2 is slightly larger (longer or wider -dont know exactly wich -or both) and therefore I will go for one that is stated for EU-model and would suggest you to do the same, depending on what type of HD2 you've got.
