how to make a shortcut on the today-page of my wizzard - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Due to long trying and experimenting with my bt gps i lost my shortcut of TT 5 on my today page. Is there anyone who can tell me how to put it back on, beaucouse when i want to start tt5 it's almost impossible to navigate the start menu with my fingertips.
I've allready tried to fix the problem with "settings/today/items", but Tomtom wasn't in the list anymore.
TT 5 starts perfectly from my startmenu, but i want my shortcut back.
Is there anyway who can tell me to solve this :?:

I've got a vario, and am currently running tomtom Nav5.21 on my ipaq, once i get hold of a bluetooth antenna, tomtom will be going on the vario.
This is not an uncommon problem with tomtom. There are however 2 ways arround your problem.
First way is to download the v5.21 patch from the tomtom website and re-install the .cab file, this will mean that tomtom is brought back to its origional settings. And the shortcut will re-appear on the screen.
If you have in any way customised the settings, you may have to set them up again (for example if you are familiar with tomtom, you'll have to turn off the guided tour stuff.) However things like any stored favorites or POI's will be unaffected by doing this, and will show up just like they did before.
The otherway is to go into start > settings > Personal > Buttons. From there you can re-assign one of the buttons to always start up tomtom, or indeed any application you want.
For example on my vario, button 5 is the Comm manager that allows me to turn on and off the wifi / bluetooth. As there is already a little icon at the bottom of the today screen that opens the comm manager I'll be reassigning the button to start TomTom.

In the TTN 5.1 update package are (if i remember correct) 3 cab files. One is just the Today plugin, you can tell it by its name
From TTN 5.21 onwards the plugin is IN the main cab, so you cant use this trick with that one.
the Todayplugin is the same for both versions
Alternatively you can use the HTCTODAY plugin i have modified (in 3 flavours) search on the forum.

Code:
use the HTCTODAY plugin
Searched for that, and this is the only post found.

There is a workaround for this problem.
It's not pretty, it requires hacking the registry, but it works.
I found it at http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showthr...7403#post397403, but had to make a slight adjustment.
I assume that you know
- How to install form a CAB file
- How to create and edit a shortcut on your Pocket PC
- How to edit the registry on your Pocket PC
Ready? Here we go:
1) Download NoPluginsToday (you'll most likely want the ARM version) from http://www.ictinus.com/NoPluginsToday/
2) Install the CAB somewhere. Make sure you know the exact location of NoPluginsToday.exe (e.g. \Storage\NoPluginsToday\NoPluginsToday.exe)
3) Create a shortcut to NoPluginsToday.exe in \Windows\Startup. Name this shortcut ZzzNoPluginsToday, so that it is last in the list of shortcuts to be launched.
4) Start a registry editor, and go to HKLM\init. Look for keys named LaunchXX. You'll want to create a new String key named LaunchYY, where YY is a bigger number than any of the XX you found. I created Launch99. The value for LaunchYY is the exact location of NoPluginsToday.exe (e.g. \Storage\NoPluginsToday\NoPluginsToday.exe) you looked up earlier.
Now you're set! Do a soft reset, and see your Bluetooth icon again! You'll notice your startup time may be a little longer.
How does it work?
The BT icon disappears because of a timeout issue when loading plugins.
We solve this by using NoPluginsToday, which switches all Today plugins off, remembers the settings, and reactivates them the next time it is executed.
By calling NoPluginsToday twice, once via the registry (early) and then again via \Windows\Startup (late), we "postpone" the loading of Today plugins until after the BT icon has been activated. That's your longer startup time for you.
Hope this helps!

TomTom "change preferences"

When you go into the "Change Preferences" menu in TomTom and change one of the settings which can be turned on/off i.e. say 3d map, show/hide POI - TomTom takes you back to the main screen.
This is REALLY frustrating since if you want to make several changes you have to go through the whole process of:
1. Tap screen to get into Main Menu
2. Tap on "Change Preferences"
3. Tap to change relevant option
... for every single setting you want to change.
I have an O2 XDA EXEC and have seen this behaviour on both Version 5.0 and 5.21. I dont remember seeing this when I was running TomTom on my XDAIIi.
Anyone else noticed this? Is there a fix?
It's how TomTom v.5 works!
TomTom Navigator v.5 is just a half-hearted *bodge* on the code for their standalone TomTom Go products to get it to run on PocketPCs.

HOWTO one finger bluetooth ON/OFF? (in icon)

The comm manager one step and then BT on two step
This is a too many time when i'd like to use the GPS
How to do one step this process? One click BT ON, or one click BT OFF
Please HELP
I too would like to know this...!
You can use quickmenu.
this replaces the start menu but has a handy bluetooth menu to quickly switch it on.
Google search cicleBT !!
Simple on/off.
I use VJVolubilis.
Download the cab here -
http://www.vijay555.com/index.php?Releases:VJVolubilis
Once installed you will have a folder under your programs that is called VJVolubilis or similar, if you go into the folder you will get to a few files/shortcuts - the one you want to run is called 'VJVolubilis BlueToggle', I renamed the shortcut to Bluetooth Toggle, moved it to the root of my programs and deleted all the other files and folder.
Then I used Buttons under settings to configure Button 3 with the shortcut I renamed to Bluetooth Toggle (or VJVolubilis BlueToggle if you haven't renamed).
Now I just hold the bottom button on the left everytime I want to turn bluetooth on and off. Really simple stuff.

GPS toggle on/off for HTC HD2

Hello,
I am looking for an app to toggle my gps on/off. Can anyone help me with this?
I have the issue that when I have my phone in flight modus and am out of the country both GSM and GPS are disabled. I would like the GSM to be disabled in favor of GPS to be enabled. I wan't this option for my Tom Tom navigation when out of the country,so it does not get interrupted by phone calls or smsses.
Kind regards
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-gps-toggle.html
Im also looking for a simple on/off toggle button for the gps.
Since you can have that in android i figure it should exist something similar created for wm.
I have only found wm homescreen plugins so far but since thats no use when you running manila or CHT it not even worth downloading.
Looks like ill have to keep searching....

You're right.
I'll test it under pure WM and check the registry while toggling on opr off : maybe I'll be able to detect what keys to change to get the same results directly, and possibly make a CHT widget.
Edit :
Found this one here :
http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Samsung_i600
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver]
"IsEnabled"=DWORD:00000001
-> change to 0 to toggle off ?
I'll check if it works... And if it actually saves battery life.
A Possible Work Around
I could not get the app from the link above to work on my HD2. It said it installed successfully, but I could find no exe or shortcut for it anywhere on my HD2. I searched a couple of app forums here and found nothing else.
Here is a possible solution although it is not a one-click solution like most toggles. It is based on this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645916
Using a text editor, paste this into a new file:
30#ctlpnl.exe AGPSSettingsCPL.cpl - location services settings
Save the file with the name such as GPS Toggle.lnk (that's a small "L" in lnk).
Copy the shortcut file to the Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder. From there you can access it using the Start button/menu. Also, depending on the UI, you may be able to create a button on your main screen. I have Co0kie's Home Tab which provides the ability to create buttons on the home screen. (Co0kie's Home Tab has a number of toggle switches, but not one for GPS.)
This shortcut will bring up the Location screen from Settings. This may or may not be what you want. To be honest, I could not find a place that says "turn on/off GPS."
AGPS only allows to use available data network to update the satellites positions database in order to speed up satellites location.
It should have nothing to do with having the GPS receiver actually turned on or off...
In fact, it's turned off on my HD2, and I'm still able to use the GPS.
I'm currently trying to evaluate the effect the above registry value change has on battery lifetime...
Edit :
OK, at least your post put me on a track :
The registry tweak actually switches on or off the "Automatic GPS management" checkbox in the "Access" panel from the "External GPS" applet in WM "System" settings.
You can still use a shortcut as the one you posted, but it should contain 25#ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,25,2 instead (GPS settings - Access).
Now the registry trick has strictly the same effect, and can be made out of a simple MortScript - then a CHT switch, too.
The only problem is I couldn't notice a better battery consumption, actually...

Remove everything on the today screen

Hello,
I'm going to use my old Himalaya as an embeded GPS in my car, so I would like to customize the today screen so it displays nothing but my TomTom icon.
But I don't know how to do so.
The ideal result would be to remove both up and down trays and only have a TomTom and a File Explorer Icon.
Do you have any idea to do it?
Thanks for your help!
If you use wm6 you can go into settings -> personal -> today, and uncheck all but date (impossible to uncheck)
