Mount SD Card

Im having a problem mounting my SD card on my Xoom (external SD card).
It doesnt work at all for CWM, which is strange when normally it should pick it up.
Any hints or tips on trying to get this work?
Specs; Euroxoom 3G
If you have an android phone, format it with that. If not, download an SD card formatting program to your computer, and format it there.
lol i think you misunderstood, but mind you i never put it.... there is no issue with the formatting etc, ....
Problem is the xoom does not detect and Micro Sd card i have, i dont think its a faulty port etc, but i thought motorola hadnt released a software update for it to work? yet people can still flash stuff through CWM?
the sd card slot is activated using tiamat kernel in 1.3.2 or newer
you need to install one of the kernel mod packs. See post 3 of the tiamat 1.4.1 kernel post in the development forum. They'll also get your charging light working.

You can't flash a kernel from CWM until after you have rooted and pushed a custom kernel via ADB first. There are many threads in the development section on how to do this. Look for one that matches your "Euroxoom ". Or, if yours is a wifi only, there is a great tutorial by LanD Master in Q and A, for us noobs.

meh i was trying to avoid pushing it, mind you i suppose its time to brush off those adb skills at work tomorrow lol

I didn't have a working sd card slot and I flashed the clockwork recovery last night. I read that clockwork has its own kernel which will detect the sd card. It didn't detect it at first but that was because I inserted the sd card AFTER I booted to CWM. I rebooted, with the sd card still in, and CWM recognized it. Then I loaded the tiamat kernel and flashed it.
Correct. You can infact flash clockworkmod recovery without having already installed a sdcard enabled kernel.
Technically the recovery image is a boot image - it contains it's own kernel and starts its operating system of a ram disk, due to this we can flash the recovery to the boot partition if we need to. (Useful if you screw up a kernel on the wifi models where you can't boot into recovery without doing "adb reboot recovery")
However, don't forget you need an external sdcard to use clockworkmod, the internal storage will not work.

[Q] Problem with sd card/back to 2.1?/themes?

Hey guys!
I have updated my gt540 from original 2.1 (without fastboot) to 2.3.2 (cyanogen mod 7.0.0 with all stuff that was needed). Since update from 1.6 to 2.1 and then to 2.3.2 I have problems with my sd card. It's Kingston 16gb micro sdhc card. I often get messages "Sd card unexpectedly removed" and then "mounting" immediately after turning on screen. The problem is, that (I think) it happens this removal happens sometimes during preparing card for android and it has made my sd card useless (needed to reformat it, losing all data). This is getting annoying, because of my data and 7gb of music I need to copy every time it's broken, and it happens once-twice every month. I checked slot for sd and put a piece of paper to push card further. Didn't work. So my first question: is it because of android or hardware? Or maybe sd card is too big for this phone?
And another question: is it possible to "revert" my phone to original 2.1 without fastboot?(To make phone look not altered by me [guarantee]) (Of course by 'revert' I mean installing new rom from lg).
I'm little tired with this 2.3.2, it's sometimes rebooting without reason and this particular rom has many apps I don't need.
Also will themes, that are posted here (for 2.1) work with fabric 2.1?
And if not, could you show me a clean rom which will work fast? Also, working radio is appreciated.
Clean ROM
Well... Here's a clean ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182804
Do you want fastboot after flashing the Stock 2.1 ROM?
I had similar problems with card on earlier versions of 2.3.x. I would recommend trying SwiftDroid, it has Android 2.3.5 and some tweaks for SD cards. Since installing that ROM I hadn't a single issue with storage.
Size of the card shouldn't be a matter, because GT540 can use up to 32 GB.
Clean ROMs
Clean ROMs doesn't always mean it's faster. I could be at some times. You could mod CM7 to bypass the speed of a clean ROM. Swiftdroid is not a clean ROM unlike AOSP Froyo which is "Pure Android". I've heard that AOSP Froyo has better battery performance than Swiftdroid, but I'm not sure :/

I'll give froyo a try and then, if problem persists I'd want to flash it to stock 2.1 without fastboot and maybe I'll give it to service.
After I flash it to 2.2 you posted what should I do to get rid of fastboot? Just run lg update which will do everything?
ed: Wait, is fastboot just an application for windows and it's by default on every device and I got it wrong with clockwork mod?
Fastboot
Fastboot is used on a device from a computer. You can't use fastboot without a device with fastboot. There's no fastboot on the LG GT540's stock ROM. You need to flash a Fastboot ROM to use fastboot from your computer. Clockwork Recoverymod is a modification to your device that can enable you to flash and backup your ROMs without the need of a computer.

Do you mean that the 'Phone' app can't read your SD card.
Isn't everything used by the 'Phone' application on the Stock 2.1 ROM from the internal memory?
Yes, the phone does not detect the SDcard.
I can not install applications on the card as if it were not for a SDcard.
Dismount
You can take out your SD card and put it back in. See if that does anything.

It also has been trying. Several cards we tried already.
Physical problem
It could be a physical problem, you should go to the place you bought it from and tell them to fix it. You could try re-flashing a ROM and see what happens.

Defect
Hmm... maybe it's problem with the SD card tray. You should take it to the store.

That is what i meant. I have no solution for you, but i guess that it will be nice if you can specify recovery version, SD card size and what format did you formated id, to make easier for future "problem solvers" Good luck anyway :fingers-crossed:

AFAIK formatting the SD card via in built option would get things working. I think it has to do with .Android secure.
Try it and report back
What in built option do you mean?
Sent from my www.callofgods.de
if you mean the option in android under "storage". I already done this. Formated it and copied all stuff back to SD card.
But no luck.
Also I tried to format in recovery, but this also didn't helped me

I am assuming that the problem is that this SD card is from other phone where I had installed ICS, but now on wildfire with cm7 it is not recognized.
Maybe some partition layout problem ?
I don't think that other recovery will help there. I think the latest one is installed.

i dont think so,it should work on any phone and on any android version, you'll only face issues with sd card if you are coming from a phone with windows 7 on it
.I think recovery is to blame here, you could just try to use some different recovery like 4.0.1.4 or something.Just try and see if it works.
Hi,
solved. The problem was recovery.
I had the old one - stock installed. I didn't even notice it, because rom manager wrote something different
Now everything is fine. Wish me luck on new rom flashing
lol good luck
Ohhh...when I went back to recovery it is again the old one installed.

Thats not wierd thats perfectly normal. Rom manager gives you temporary recovery. For permanent change flash recovery via fastboot.

[Q] phone does not turn on. it goes directly to cwm recovery mode

Good day,
I am having problem with my lg optimus l3 e400. I just rooted it the other day to solve the memory problems of the phone. It has been working fine until today. What happened was, it just turned off and whenever i turn it on, it goes directly to cwm recovery, which has been installed during the root process thru ROM manager app. I also found out that the SD card is corrupted. I had to format the SD card and tried pasting stock ROM's but it still doesn't boot and still goes to recoovery everytime I turn it on. I tried to format the device, the cache, and the other format options in recovery mode but the issue is still not solved. Can anyone please help? And if possible, give me a step by step guide because I'm kinda new at this. Thanks.

Can you guys give me a link? i'm having a hard time looking for stock roms and i don't even know how to distinguish stock rom and custom rom. the sd card that was working before the happened got corrupted but after inserting it to another phone and formatting the sd card, it seems to be working and the sd card can be mounted. i'm not sure with the sd merge compatiility with the kernel but it worked for a few days so i think it is compatible. the phone does not reboot. whenever i reboot it or turn it on, it just goes to recovery mode. thanks.

[Q] About my LG-E400 1st gen

Hi I just changed to Cyanoid ROM from MiniCM9. Now I have this problem where my phone can't detect my external sd card any the internal memory of the phone. What is exactly happening on my phone? I'm wanting to revert back to stock using KDZ but when I go to emergency mode, the phone turns off itself.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
