There is no GPS hardware built in. You need to use a bluetooth gps receiver and software with maps like TomTom mobile.

thanks so tom tom will work for USA use..also any car cradle options

Sat Nav for FREE?

is there a way to get sat nav on my XDA mini s for FREE?
just software based? or do i need a bluethooth thingy.
cheers
xxxxx
You'll need a gps receiver either wired or bluetooth - about £40 - £50 on ebay.
You'll also need to get some software like Tom Tom either legit or none legit whichever you prefer..
I'm 99% sure you can't use a wired bluetooth receiver with the Wizard.
That leaves you with a bluetooth one or an IR one (I wouldn't recomend IR)
Depending what you want you can get a receiver, or a handsfree kit/gps receiver in one (obvisously more ££) but as said above you will need a copy of some software (Tomtom 5.21 or mapopolis for example) to get it working.

BT GPS: two programs use the GPS at the same time ?

I have tom tom and gps 2 google earth.
I want to use tom tom for navigation and gps2googleearth to save my path.
The problem is that only one program can access the virtual serial port of the bt gps receiver (holux gpslim).
I have used the registry hack to show the GPS icon at settings->connections.
My gps is at COM7.
I created a virtual port (COM8) in order to allow more than one program to access the GPS.
The think is that some programs work at COM8 but TomTom doesn't. (it only works with the real port 7...)
Is there any way to do that ?
Thanks.

What do I need to run Tom Tom on my Vario?

I would like to use Tom Tom on my (standard) Vario II and I'm not sure what I need to run it.
Do I need to upgrade my handset to GPS? If so, how do I do this?
Cheers.
You need the TomTom software and the maps of course as well as a seperate GPS Receiver because the MDA Vario II doesn't have any integarated GPS function.
Most people go for Bluetooth GPS Receivers although there are some cases where you might want a Wired GPS Receiver, to attach to the outside of your car or something for example.
Check out PocketGPSWorld for some good reviews if you want and then just browse around and take your pick.
I use the Holux GPSlim 240 which is fantastic.

HTC TYtn, Navigon and GNS 5843

Hi,
I'm looking to find out if anyone knows if the HTC Tytn will wirk fine with Navigon 5 or 6 and than with the GNS 5843 GPS/TMC BT Receiver.
Can't find any info on this combination.
THX
I would safely say that any navigation software that is for a pda device and a compatable bluetooth gps receiver will work just fine. I am not using your specific software or gps receiver, but with tomtom software and a bluetooth gps receiver I find the device works as a great navigator.
Okay THX a lot for the reply. I still wonder about the combination of Navigon Mobile Navigator and the GNS 5843 TMC/GPS receiver.
I know TomTom works but I prefer Navigon and on an iPAQ 2790 the mentioned post and combination worked perfectly.
But I don't know the TyTn very well.

iGO can't found my GPS BT Navilock

Hermes DOESN'T have a GPS receiver... YOu need to purchase a stand alone Bluetooth Receiver.
