Battery Problem - Red Blinking - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i Software Upgrading

I am facing a problem which need your guidance, i am charging my battery after 20 days when i use AC charger with 24 PIN adapter, Right hand LED is continuously blinking in Red colour and LCD is also blinking, and seems no charging.
when i placed the PDA on Cradle only red LED is blinking (fast).
please let me know is my battery dead (i think someone replaced my battery ), or something else , what should i do. ?
Model : XDA2i
Thanks

It seems like the problem is with your battery. Can you charge it in a XDA/MDA USB cradle (also used to sync your PPC with a PC)?

i had this problem once after using the 2020i in the car, so i took it inside to my sisters and lugged it into the USB and i got exactly what you are describing. When the screen flashin started, i unplugged it totally... the battery was devoid of power.
When i returned home i removed the battery and charged it in the Aux batt slot in the cradle for a couple of hours. Then returned it to the pda and then replaced the pda back in the cradle. It then proceded to charge fine!
And more to the point has been fine since.
This happened back at Christmas!!
Hope it works for you!

Thanks for the hints. I normally charge my PDA in the cradle itself but will also charge the battery in the AUX slot when I'm at work and want to keep my phone in my pocket.

Is that a hint of sarcasm Triband?
I was not saying charge the battery in the Aux slot all the time!

Nope, certainly not....it's practical to have both options (at least on the MDA II's USB cradle).

Wizard won´t recharge!

Hi,
My wizard run out of battery completly yesterday, I brought it home and try to recharge it, but no recharging light will appear.
I left it overnight connected to the mains but to no appeal,
I also removed the battery for a few minutes and then plug again but no luck.
I´m not using the mains provided adaptor but my travelling kit, a proporta mains/usb adaptor and a retractable sync/charge cable with a mini-usb pin cos I´m back home for Xmas and I don´t travel with the mains.
I have read about problems with some chargers from Boxwave, but I have consistently using this charging conbination since October.
Any ideas, should I send it back to expansys to repair, or is there anything else I can try?
Thanks
Elsral
same thing happened to me.. Supposely the phone will not charge from being completely dead without a charger that puts out 1amp. There is another method if you are a little brave... cut up an old car charger and hook it directly to the battery (red cord to + on battery and black to -) Read about it on howardforums and it worked like a champ. I only needed to jump the battery for about 30 seconds before I put it back in the phone and the amber light kicked on.. I was very relieved!!
Same happend to me yesterday. Simply plug the carger in and wait 1 or 2 seconds then switch the power button. After some seconds the carging light should switch on.
The wizard won't charge if it's switched off.
Export800,
you are a megastar,
I put apart a usb adaptor that I had built to charge my gps and I connected cables directly to battery for a minute and Voile,
tnx a million,

But if the battery is totally dead surely the unit wont switch on ? Thus its a catch 22 ??? There is no power to switch on and the battery wont charge totally dead.
Ridiculous if you were caught out away from a charger and ended up having to pull apart a usb lead to get things back to life.
If the battery is so low, that the wizard switches off itself, and you connect the charger, it won't charge, because it's switched off.
Use the power of the charger to turn it on, then charging will beginn (and also the device will boot).

Can anyone else confirm this works as there have been many people having this problem. Simple solution if it works.
Switch off your device completely (hold the Power Button) and try to charge: Nothing happens. Now switch it on - charging begins.
I have noticed that last week, when battery was very low and i know that i would need my wizard in about half an hour. So i switched it off completely, so that it would charge faster and noticed that.
Yesterday when battery was totally dead i remembered that and i switched it on.
Btw, doesn't it damage the battery, if you connect it to 12 V (!!)??

If I come across the problem will certainly be trying your method before I will be ripping into any usb leads
The same thing happened to me this past weekend. We were out camping and my MDA's (wizard) battery went completely dead. I had a USB sync cable for my laptop, but that would not revive the unit. I'm afraid the only way to bring it back to life is with the original OEM charger which has an output of 1 amp. Thanks for the post!
I had the same issue a while back. At first I thought the moto charger I had was dead but then I plugged in a old SMT5600 and it worked fine.
I left it plugged into my computer for a hour or so and finally I heard the "new usb device blip" from the other room and it started to charge. Guess I was lucky.
Same thing happened with my wifes SMT5600. The battery died and she couldn't get it to charge with her moto mini usb charger. I plugged it into my machine and a hour later the charging light came on.
I have heard that the Wizard will not charge from my laptop using a usb cable if it is completely drain. I find this to be NOT TRUE.
I ran out of juice twice last weekend. The thing about the Wizard is that, if it's completely drained, it will get stuck at the boot screen, and go no further.
Take out the battery to turn it off again. Put the battery back in, and then plug in your charger. DO NOT TURN IT BACK ON. It needs all the power it can get. Give it a minute, and you will see your orange charge light come on. Just leave it alone for several hours, and it will charge. This is my experience.
I got it! But, first the story.
None of the above methods helped me. I tried plugging it in to a big truck lighter, a pickup truck, even an ac adapter for my coleman cooler. Nothing!
However, I had a powered Pro-Clip mount that I had as a backup for the one I use. Guess what? THAT worked!
I think the cable makes the difference. Need to find the specs on those puppies. LOL
Thanks for the help.

Qtek 2020 - Can't recharge the battery

Hello,
I bought a second hand Qtek 2020. The seller didn't have a cradle, but he gave me a USB sync/charge cable and a AC plug with USB slot. So I insert the one end of the cable to the PDA, one end to the plug and I recharge.
The device came with 90% charge and I could easily charge it to 100%. Today, I ran it down to 0% and now I can't recharge it!! Every time I turn the device off and plug everything in, it starts to recharge. The led on top shows red. It charges for about a minute and the device wakes up. The red light turns yellow. It says on the screen that the device is still charging but the meter is stuck at 0%!!!
I've been trying for hours but I can't even get to 1%. Maybe it would be better if I had a cradle but that's not an option now. Besides, it recharged beatifully yesterday.
I have a feeling that if I can stop the device from waking up automatically when charging, I can recharge fully, but I don't know how.
Any help will be very appreciated.
Update
Here's a quick update. It's gone from bad to worse. Now I only have a blinking red light and the device doesn't come on at all!!
Any advice please?
Have you made sure that the plug is connected tightly to the PPC? If the charge isn't being held, then the battery might be the culprit.
li-ion batts have a limited number of times it can be recharged before it's lifespan is over
maybe your batt's time is up ?
Follow-up
OK. I bought a new battery and everything works fine now. So if you're having a similar situation, a new battery may solve your problem too.
same problem
I had the same problem as you. When the battery was on 30% to 90% it could be easily charged via USB from PC or via usb adapter. Once the battery fall under appr. 20% I was unable to charge it. I wanted to throw to the garbage. I have done many upgrades many resets. While the qtek was without any software (nothing was installed on it) tha battery successfully charged. So used the qtek as ussual and tried to charge it before 20%. BUt now it fall again under 20% and it's happening the same, I can't charge it. The other strange think is, that I have tried 5 computers with USB.1 and USB.2 but is didn't help. Only one computer can charget from 0% to 100% and this one is in my work.. very strange and don't know what couse this... Normaly the battery holds power for two and half days, so don't wan't to buy new one now. If anyone has any explanation why it can be charge only with "one computer" or what can that couse, I really appreciate it.
Thank you

Weird Problem

My Atom has been working excelent for more than 6 months.
The problem is that when I try to charge it through the AC or a USB it doesnt charge anymore, the orange light doesnt turn on and the symbol in the phone turns only for a few seconds fron the battery into a wall plug, but then nothing...
I took out the battery and then charge it and worked but only when the device is off completely not when it is on or on stand by...
What can I do?
I just made a self diagnostic and when it gets to the part of the USB/AC Charging it says battery 100% charged (it passes the test) and that is not true, battery is at 18% right know
Same...
I have the same issue where my battery always shows as 100% even when you use it to 1% its still shows 100% and then it just quit when it runs out. Damn weird.... Just happened today and I only had the Atom Exec for 2 months... Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Resolved
It was faulty battery not reporting correct capacity & usage.
I had a similar problem with my Atom. It could not charge the device from USB at first, then it got worse and stopped to charge from wall outlet. What I found out was that the connection plate at mini-USB port of Atom was worn out slighlty. I solved the problem by forcing usb cable connector into a mini-USB port, so it went further a bit (half a millimeter) and now everything is Ok - no problems to charge from either USB cable or wall charger.
I had the same problem, and found out that one pin in the mini usb socket bent downwards, fixed it myself and now its working fine

Mate! You gotta bring it to the SC... Its the fuse. The charging loop gose through the fuse and since it doesn't charge - most likely its the fuse (yo can test it with the normal tester...) If its not the fuse, it can be either of two - UEM Chip (Universal Energy Managmnt) or your PA (power amp). You can test it by measuring the resistance on the very left contacts of the battery ON YOUR PHONE! If the resistance close to 1 - its PA...
Wouldn't recomend to replace it yourself... Go for repair centre.
It's going to be a loose USB connection...
I did it on mine a while back, you have to hit the patch cable fitting in vigorously to the unit, and then from that day forward, no problems with charging!
Clean battery + phone><batt contacts if that makes you happy (it made me reassured)

Problems with a battery

can anybody help me please
I have just bought a new battery (i believe its a cameron sino) it is a 3600 mAh for my himalaya however when i place it in and turn the machine on it says 0% charge and turns off after a few seconds i placed it in the cradle with mains power plugged in and checked the status and it says ac power only, so i left it a bit to see if it would charge... no luck so i removed it and placed it in the spare charger slot in the cradle the orange light came on so i left it untill it went green (charged) when i put the battery in the device again and turned on same problem status says 0% charge and turns off place it in cradle and it says ac only.
is this a duff battery or is there something i'm doing wrong/ can anything be done to make it work
Thanks
Xda2 Battery
I bought the same battery and it is working fine for me. i just put the battery in the xda2, let it charge till it was the green light. It works perfectly you should tell the person you got it from to give you a replacement AS ITS DEFINITELY IS THE BATTERY.
Hope this help

Internal battery is very low!!! Need Help

Hi,
My wizard main battery (wiza16) was very low and the wizard stop with a message “The internal battery is very low”. After coming back home I have tried to charge but it is not taking charge and didn’t turn on anymore. I recently bought a new battery (wiza16, 3.7 VDC, 1250 mAH) thinking that it will work again but still the same problem, wizard is not taking charge or turn on.
Can anyone help me?? What can I do to start my wizard? Do I need to change the tiny little battery (which is inside the wizard)? Kindly help me.
Wizard service manual
Hi,
See if when you connect the power plug the led turns red, if yes....
If Charge light is red when plug in AC adapter, it means the main battery is not charge enough and can’t power on,
You just need to continue charge unit the light become Amber
If not, i think you have a problem.
Check if charger its working and if its pluged.

Wizard Battery discharge completely
Hi,
Thanks for quick reply. there is no light when i connect my wizard with PC. I don't have the AC charger, I have lost that for long and was using my PC usb to charge. trying to get one AC charger.
There was no problem with my wizard, just can't turn on after it's battery discharge completely. Even the new battery couldn't turn that on.
You'll need the original charger if the battery has complelty discharged as it will only charge from the computer if the phone is powered on.
This happened to me before.
There is a trick to giving the battery a quick charge which will give it enough juice to boot the phone up and allow it to charge from usb. its not recommended but works.
You will need a spare usb cable, cut one end of, strip the wires back and connect the red wire to + and the black to - on the battery, only do it for a short period, about 30 seconds while conneted to your computer.
You may need to give it a few 30 second bursts to give it enough juice.
Pop the battery back into the phone and switch it on while pugged into the PC
Took me a few attempts to get enough charge in the battery for it to boot up.
Wizard battery
You can also use a 9V battery to jumpstart your battery. But then you have to be more careful. I connected the 9v battery to my Wizard battery for about 15 seconds, then tried to start up my device. If not successful I started again with 15 seconds jumpstart..
But you can find more information here in the forum: just search for jumpstart or something similar....

Wizard Battery discharge completely
Thank you all for information. 9V battery method didn't work for me. Looking for AC charger online and get a link (http://www2.dustin.se/pd_5010073700.aspx). Do you think this is the right one? If yes, then I can order.
yea that's the right one but if you have a friend with a ppc or maybe a razor you can use there charger most ac adapters are starting to use mini usb just a way of saving some money even though having an ac adapter is good
could also try and get one of those usb plugs that you can plug up to a wall and plug in a usb cable into the slot
but don't take my word for this wit hmy wizard i haven't had it shut all the way day
if anybody can verify this would work
AC charger not also working
I have got the AC charger yesterday. When Connect the Ac charger first time the red light on my wizard showed for just half second then dissappear. Still let that connected for whole night but no response.
Thank you all for help.
@Keland44, most Razr chargers dont work, they MUST be at least 850mA in order for the Wizard's battery to receive anything. The older Razr chargers are sometimes as low as 350mA, but the never ones are as high as 1.2A, so you need to read the label on the charger itself to be sure.

Yup that is about right,
If the battery is complelty dead, then you need to original charger.
If you have got the right charger and you get a red light and it goes off. your phone might have a problem.
This happened to my last wizard after stupidly trying to dry out the screen after getting it wet which stopped the touchscreen working (i was drying it out while the phone was still on) well my wizard crashed.
Took ages to get it back on but it was very unreliable then one day, it wouldnt go on and charger done nothing. Unpluging and pluging the charger in several times got a red light on.
Sometimes i could get it to turn on, the charger would charge for about 5 minutes then the phone would die soon after.
Your phone might possibly be bricked.
