**171 rom unhide extended rom?** - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i Software Upgrading

hi i have recently cooked my own extended rom from the new offical one and a few extras.
and now my extended rom folder is visable... i cant change anything on it i can copy from it but cant write to it, didnt know if this was normal...
if not wonder why its unhidden.
this is the config i used:
CAB: \Extended_ROM\BA_cm_rm_map_o2_v3.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\BackpackDriver.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Caller_ID_Alpine_Generic_WWE_RC16.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\CV2.41.386_wwe.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Delete_shortcut.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\SmartDialing_Alpine_Generic_WWE_RC13.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PhonePad_Alpine_Generic_WWE_RC11.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Java_wwe.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\O2_UK.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\BTProfiles.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\O2UK_removeACCEPT_12212004.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\VideoMMSB22.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\O2UK_Regional_TimeZone.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Patch_Eraphone.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Patch_Update_SIM_Mgr_2.2.1.0.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Alpine_SMS05272005.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PressKey.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\wap.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Alpine_UniDir_20051114001.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Certificate.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Version.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\IPV4_132.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\rar.ppc_arm.CAB

Have a look in \windows\startup and see if LoadVDisk is still there. If it is then the "delete_Shortcut" CAB must be missing or corrupt as this is what deletes LoadVDisk from that folder in the first place.
It is possible to edit the registry to show the Extended ROM as well. If you did this before it may not have been wiped if you updated just your Extended ROM.

Out of curiosity, where did you get the JAVA cab? I assume it is a Java client.
Would it be possible to send it to me?

1.
looked in \windows\startup and LoadVDisk isnt even there and also i never installed it b4 anyway, but i can still access the extended rom and i have soft reseted it to test and its still viewable.
2.
well i went to the wiki site
clicked on "Alpine"
clicked on "Customize Extended Rom via SD Card"
noticed he had the java client (its the same one the o2 rom installs only its a slighly older version plus it doesnt come with the music player bundled)
downloaded the ExtROM_XDAIIi_v1.11Cooked_2577.rar
the guide provides and it was there
3. have pm'd the file to you.

Another thought is that LoadVDisk is a hidden system file, select view all files and have another look if it's there.
By the way I have sorted out the time problem for you, check your PM.

For those of us less config-savvy, would you kindly summarize in plain English the changes/advantages of your cooked ROM?
Thanking ye,

There are several advantages to using a cooked ROM.
Several programs that are of little or no use to you, in my case O2 active, TAO Music and MMS, can be removed leaving room for other programs that are of use or left blank just to free up memory.
Most people don't install O2 active as they find it to unstable and affects the stability of the device in general.
TAO tends not to be used and just hogs loads of storage space etc.
Using milkshake's ROM for example, O2 Active, TAO java, Blackberry and the camera downgrade have been removed and JAVA, PocketRAR and O2 configuration settings have been added.
Hope this helped.

pug
will u be cooking a rom at 1.171?

I tried cooking the ROM but I had nothing but problems with it, huge stability and connection issues.
If people want it I'll do it but no blaming me if it's crap.

i dont seem to have any stability/connectiin issues with my cooked rom, have u tried using my config pug?

Like I said in a previous post somewhere, it was probably just a freak. To be honest I'm happy with the one I have and see no point in upgrading it. The only thing I was interested in was the BT update, but saw no benefit with the handsfree over the profiles that I had installed anyway.

calm down pug. he'll understand it one day and say thanks to you....

I am calm.
Am I coming across wrong these days? Sounding angry?
If so, sorry, Don't mean to.

Does anyone know if this rom fixes the GPRS unable to connect due to unknown error problem?
So anybody installed this?
Any changes in the extended rom? can anyone post the files please?? I would love to see if this changes the saving of t9 issue...
Well it has been about a week since I did a ROM upgrade on my phone so I got the itch to install this Overall install went fine, I put the phone in bootloader mode and used MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and everything installed fine.
Early testing is very promising. So far, I have been able to connect/disconnect from the GPRS connection and have not received the "unable to connect for unknown reason..." error. I have tried every way I know how. Holding down the end call button, calling my phone to force the disconnect and so far the error has just not shown up.
Also, I have turned BT on and off about 50 times and have not gotten the hardware not found error so that is also promising.
Lastly, I switched between all of the keyboard options in pocket Word trying to get it to lock up (an issue I have with the Finnish 1.11 rom) and so far it all seems to be working fine. I was even able to use SPB full screen keyboard with no issues.
The Extended ROM has some Norwegian customizations for carriers etc.. There were 5 programs that I uninstalled before I set up my S100.
So far everything seems to be working just fine. I will post here if I find anything funny.
Mashie,
How did you uninstall stuff from the ROM. I really don't need the carrier stuff and some progs that's on there.

(UNIVERSAL - MDA PRO) Cooking your own ExtRom!

hi, after unlocking extrom and getting rid of all the stuff in there which gave me 9.83 MB of additional space I am having a couple of problems.(the extRom is called extended_rom2 - can I change it)
1.so , I would like to cook my own extRom with my own applications but I'm having problems doing it.
everytime I edit my config.txt(uk t-mobile) and put it back to extRom together with the CABs I want to have auto-installed after hard reset are in fact not getting insalled ..only the CABs which were pre-installed on t-mobile extRom are getting installed. any ideas, solutions anything popeple??
2. the phone pad dosnt support 3G telephony (video talk button is gone - the dial pad is just the basic win version) I assume I need to re-instal a cab responsible for this but which one is it.
uff..thx in advance for any help.
cheers, cudo
ps. when doing custom extrom can I instal cabs from SD card and only put config.txt in the extrom ?

Now there's no way I'm going to cook up my Universal, I'd be too scared of burning it!
Sorry, couldn't resist. XD

I loaded the cab file on my Athena and now I get an error message that states: When I click on Network Wizard in the programs folder I get "Error in Program." My WIFI and everything else still works however, I can not launch the network wizard. I would like to know if possible what registry files or program do I delete to reinstall the cab and try again. Any help will be greatly appreciated. If not I'll just wait untill Athena Project 4.0 which should clear it all up. Oh running Dual PK if anyone needed to know.
Try to use this cab: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=49839&d=1189278051
After install any cab, soft reset your device before use the program.

Will this apply to the US?
I don't know, because I use other cab for italy, but I think yes.
When you get that stupid error message like on the rom I am using now; here is what you have to do:
take the cab file dirrectly from your computer into the main memory of the phone. then run it.
I get that error message when I try to run it off the card.
Also, there is a program called UPX4PPC (google it). This will shrink your .exe and .dll files BUT DON'T USE IT FOR PROGRAMS THAT HAVE TO RUN AUTOMATICALY!!! I screwed up my x-buttton that way.
anyway, once you install it to your storage card, you can shrink the EXE/DLL that you install into your main memory. I shrunk Voice Command in half and it still works.

Hi there please make sure extrom folder "name" is correct "ExtROM"
Here's the cfg.txt
The only other thing I can think of is your phone for some reason did not see your SD Card
Check that you can see the contents of your card with file explorer Don't remove SD_card and Hard reset your device, And if the extrom does not load then navigate to the extrom folder and click on AutoRun.exe that should also launch the extrom as this rom is also UC compatible

Hi there it looks like you may of had a bad flash, picture files should open in HTC Album, the first launch is a bit slow but gets quicker with use,
I would recomend you reflash the rom, make sure screen saver and any power saver options are turned off on your PC and don't interact with your pc while the rom is flashing hope this helps

P.S. don't know y but some times task manager causes probs you could remove it from extrom folder and try loading rom again
battery problem
Nice rom fast and stable. the only problem is that the battery indicator in today screen isn't working at all.it always show that the battery is fully charged when the battery status in settings is showing otherwise. any fix please?
hi swampy.. i tested ur rom and its COOL!!! i think am going to get used to this for now! i downloaded a new theme for my BA and it really rocks!

swampy i installed the usbhdd cab file you uploaded. it showed a successful installation but I seem cant find the icon on where it was installed??? i tried both to install in the device and as well as the storage card but still i can seem to locate the icon..
maybe in your next updated ROM you can include it perhaps...???
tnx swampy!
The Most Stable among all ROMS
This is by far, the most stable and smoothest ROM I've used. Except that sometimes, after a reset, date & clock returns to the ROM's default. Further, The date format seems to be permanent at dd/mm/yyyy.
Having M2D installed, this ROM also has the fastest boot and response time. HTC Opal keyboard works fine but the Opal canvas dialpad doesn't work well.
I was able to change some part of the M2D theme except the clock face cos i don't know anything about xml editing.
My workaround to keep the battery from draining fast and from resetting when it drains down to below 70% is to keep the backlight low when on battery power.
Thank you very much for the wonderful ROM, it somehow reincarnates my IIs, i like it better now than what it was when i first took it out of the box.

May I ask how you got Opal CommManager to work, swampy395? I tried the blue cab from here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430468
...(albeit not on a WM6.1 ROM; I installed it on Helmi's WM6) and the WLAN switch was never working. Also tried the reg fix, but I can't even find the "AdapterName" string in the HKLM\Software\Drivers\WLANHKLM\Software\Drivers\WLAN branch of the registry (first step). Even adding it in the aforementioned place myself didn't help.
Of course I do know about the BA's WLAN bug. With the CommManager that comes with Helmi's WM6 ROM you have to activate WLAN once via the link in the Settings folder after each reboot, but then, finally, the CommManager WLAN switch works. However, I couldn't reproduce that with the OPAL CommManager. Never got the WLAN switch working.
Any ideas?

P.S. make sure that you stop your current coms manager with task manager in settings before install or it will fail or do soft reset then install
The file link that you requested is not valid.

O2 UK Received MMS Msgs too small

I recently purchased an HD touch which was originally on the UK Orange Network. I then unlocked this and placed my UK O2 sim into the phone. THis already had Duttys Xtreme V2.1 installed. All Appears to be running okay but when I receive MMS msgs they are postage size images. Possibly because this is not an O2 phone or one which they sell on their network then this could be the problem.
I am not sure if this has been raised previously and I tried searching on XDA but could not find anything obvious. But there must be other UK O2 users out there that have resolved this same issue?
Senior member Senab kindly pointed me to a link on www.4mobile.com which may address this failing.
Does anyone know if there is a cab which makes the relevant registry changes to allow a quick and easy method of overlaying the necessary registry entries after a re-flash of a different rom?
This would ensure that anytime a different rom is applied then I'd automatically need to execute the MMS cab to allow normal sized images to be received. Any help, advice or information would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance JD76..
stumbled across this thread on XDA which may help (Post 14 explains it best)

then use a Registry editor program to export the Key then you can import it again , for next rom if its needed
I use this program for reg editing 'FdcSoft TaskMgr wm2005_3.1' which also a task manager
Thanks Eyebees but link does not work can you repost link if possible? cheers...
sorry try this link

what ROM on your HD is it a Manila 2.5 with HTC messaging or Manila 2.1
just for ref here are my reg entrys for manila2.5 with HT messaging seem ok on Orange UK
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jataayu\MMS\SP]
"UserAgent"="HTC_Touch_Pro2_T7373/HTCMessaging_Client1.0"
"UAProfile"="http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/HTC_Touch_Pro2_T7373-1.0.xml"
"RRPreferredClass"=dword:00000001
"Logging"=dword:00000000
"LogBuffer"=dword:00000000
Hmm - I have those exact settings installed in my Xanny ROM 1.7 - and I only get the small images. It's operator specific so I think we need to find a useragent that O2 has configured to supply full size images to....
Is anyone getting full size messages in Sense 2.5 on O2 - if so can you post the Jataayu entries?
looks like your not the only one with mms issues
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5255915&postcount=5075
have you asked in your rom thread about mms
I agree I think it may be Operator specific...anyone else out there on O2 UK with this problem. We have over 2 million members here must be others.....thanks JD
Right - I've had a trawl around and will crunch through these settings. If others can try that would be handy:
1) Pretend it's a diamond/N95 hybrid....
HKLM/Software/Jataayu/MMS/SP/UAProfile
changed to: http://www.htcmms.com.tw/claro/diamond-1.0.xml
HKLM/Software/Jataayu/MMS/SP/UserAgent
changed to: NokiaN95/11.0.026; Series60/3.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
2) N95
UserAgent = "NokiaN95/11.0.026; Series60/3.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1"
UAProfile = http://nds1.nds.nokia.com/uaprof/NN95-1r100.xml
3) HD2
UAProfile=http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/HTC_HD2_T8585-1.0.xml
UserAgent=HTC_HD2_T8585
Plan is 1) Change setting 2) Reboot Phone 3) Ask Wife to send MMS
Tried 3 first as I reckoned it was more likely to work, and it did. Previous message was 4k, changed reg, rebooted and resent the message and it was delivered to me at 82k - which is a distinct improvement.
exported .reg attached (rename to .reg) - a click in total commander should install it, also pop in the sashimi reg folder for the next flash.
Can't work out how to make a cab.
Thank you jontelfer really appreciated. Is it just a matter of downloading and renaming and running. I don't have total commander will regedit do the same? can you clarify what you meant by the following: 'also pop in the sashimi reg folder for the next flash' ??? thanks again jd..
I can't remember if the standard filemanager will let you run the .reg file unfortunately. If you've got regedit open you might as well change the entries yourself.
The Sashimi comment refers to a package that will automate the reinstall of all your favourite cabs once you've flashed a new rom. Pretty usefull if you're into that kind of thing.
Jon was trying the O2 MMS setting you attached as a text file. But I don't have a Jataayu sub folder is it possible that is only on a specific rom? can you provide any advice?
I'm on O2 (UK). Had this same problem a while back with a new flash. My settings are as follows (WM6.5, M2.1)....
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\Arcsoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]
"UserAgent"="NokiaN95/11.0.026"
"x-wap-profile"="http://www.arcsoft.com/mobile/UAProf/Arcsoft-MMSUA-PPC-v50.xml"
Try reading through this topic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549238) there's also a self-installing CAB there if you are uneasy about reg-editing.
Good luck!
Thanks

exported .reg attached (rename to .reg) - a click in total commander should install it, also pop in the sashimi reg folder for the next flash.
Can't work out how to make a cab.

Jontelfer, thank you so much for your solution. I have been trying to resolve the MMS message issue for so long. It finally works. Thank you.
Thanks Jontelfer as well, only thing that has worked for me too..
