WiFi AdHoc mode - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Hi,
I tried to peer my laptop with JAMin, spend five hours. Doesn't work. Tried all the configurations, tried all the setups.
I believe, AdHoc mode in JAMin is not useful (or functional), unless someone corrects me for being wrong

Pls help save my sanity

I recently bought the JJ and love it EXCEPT for one issue. I am totally unable to surf the net with any method other than GPRS. I have a Netgear router connected to my desktop and my broadband connection, and run a wireless network with my tablet PC. Before I upgraded, my IIi had no trouble syncing (I know AS 4 doesn't support this) or using IE to surf the net wirelessly. I never had to change any settings on my wifi network.
With the JJ, it connects, gives me a decent looking IP address, but immediately following connection, it kills the Wifi network. Neither the desktop or tablet PC can connect to the internet via the cable modem attached to the router anymore, and what's worse, AS crashes and will no longer synchronise the JJ (which is hooked up to the Tablet via USB). Spb Weather subsequently no longer syncs, either. The only solution I found is that I can reboot the router (the technical term for pulling the plug out of the socket and then putting it back in) AFTER I disconnect the JJ. I can go online again then with everything excep the JJ of course. Unfortunately, I have found no way to reconnect my JJ to AS without doing a hard reset (which I've already had to do twice!).
I know that I can get on the internet using my AS connection because I can update Spb weather, check email, etc. via the USB connection, but yet I cannot get IE to connect. What am I doing wrong?
Please help me complete the one thing that would make the JJ the best PDA I have ever had.
routers and activesync
Microsoft are working on this and other activesync issues. a new AS version will be available in November, so they promise...
Be aware though that in my experience, the worst configuration problems come from routers, and defining network segments... are u using windows xp, maybe network bridging the connection to JJ with the tablet pc could help, u might need to fiddle a bit with the created bridge, like disable enable bridge/connections, etc... this is how i could have tried to do it anyways...
good luck dude, it took me once five days to sort out a wireless connection via routing, and another time I just returned the kit I just bought from netgear to replace it with a one from belkin, but i still had to sweat to get things smooth..., this is the price to pay when hardware is produced by so many different companies, with different drivers, etc... we wish things were more standardised; and to the credit of MS, it forced computer manufacturers to standardise a lot of what they produce, but not enough to my satisfaction...
Peace out
nabil2000
to he honest, I think I just got lucky networking my desktop and tablet and IIi together. I wish the same luck came to me again as this is very frustrating!
DC
Hmm, tricky. You shouldn't have so much trouble. Try a few things that pop to mind:
- Check if your PC has a proxy set. I THINK I once found that when I synced my PPC got passed the proxy settings, and it confused me for ages. WOuld explain why IE behaves differently to spb. I think the proxy is under advanced settings on network connections of PPC
- Check you PPC networks adaptor settings, all should be set to "obtain server-assigned IP"
- Try trning off wifi when using AS. They may conflict
- Search this board for "firewall". Other users have found this to be an issue with AS
Not too helpful, I know...
I haven't experianced any problems. I synced with my BT Voyager w\l router first time and always makes the connection when I'm in the area.
It even makes PIE half usable!
I wish mine would work too
My wifi network is now unstable
still can't connect to internet for IE

Can't connect using WiFi on my MDA Vario 2

Hi there,
My WIFI connection worked fine with a Belkin router I had. After upgrading to a 'Netgear Next Wireless ADLS2+ Modem (router)', I cant seem to lock onto the router.
I type in the WEP Key, but then the arrows of the indicator on the top continue moving showing that no connection has been established.
I am not as good as I would like to be with networking, so I need easy step-by-step advise with how I can set up a connection.
Please help.
Many thanks.

Anyone?
well since it worked before maybe the question should be posted in the Netgear forum
i would at first upgrade the firmware of the router if possible
Hi
I've not long had my Vario 2 and I had the same problem, it just refused to connect. I looked in the active Station List in my routers config page but there was no sign of my vario's MAC. I thought maybe the wifi was busted so I took it to work and connected fine. Back to my router then, eventually it appeared in the station list but was being reported as failing the WPA authentication. I must have put that key in I don't know how many times before it finally let me in. I don't know how it happenned but I just sat there repeatedly entering the key and refreshing router config screen.
I suggest you try connecting to another wifi network to test your device. Try connecting to yours with security off, then switch it back on.
I just had to seemingly bully my router into letting me connect, but after some time (several sessions over a few days) it did.

How I solved Wifi problem

Lately I have been reading many post related to Wifi problems in the HD. I had the same. Even I was very near my router I couldn't connect to the net and the signal was very weak.
So I entered my router configuration and I found a solution.
Before, for security options I had: WPA-PSK [TKIP] then I changed to WPA2-PSK [AES] (of course you also have to change your HD connection configuratoin), and now it works great¡¡¡¡
Now I have all the bars for the signal and I can connect very easily.
Hope it works for other people
I have a similar WiFi connectivity problem, but after reading of the poor service provided by most vendors and HTC itself, I will try to gather some more experience with the problem before I contact HTC or my vendor, and hopefully find a solution. Bellow is my experience so far:
I own an HTC Touch HD since January and have a similar problem, only it surfaced last week. Before I had only used the WiFi connectivity briefly. The problems started after I installed an AP on my house expressively for the new PDA. The node is fully open and set to B/G/N protocols.
After a couple days of medium (couple hours per day) use the WiFi connection suddenly quit, the device would try to connect (the top bar showing the WiFi connection animation continuously) and after a few moments gave up with a dialog box stating the current network settings were wrong (even thou they worked fine a few hours earlier).
I tried several hot and cold resets, but only solved the problem after flashing a new ROM; even then the same symptoms reappeared after a couple of days of regular use. Again no re-setting would cure the problem, and now not even flashing the ROM again would work. Nonetheless, some hours latter the WiFi would connect perfectly with the same nodes it refused to before, and in very short time.
I have witnessed this cycle twice and have yet not been able to find a trigger for it, but will keep my eyes open for any tell tale signs, and post any findings here.
I could add to the above mentioned problems.
i got a new hd just few days back.
The wifi worked great. But now it doesnt.
I have disabled wifi, so can start it whenever i require.
I click on wifi button to enable it.
Then open opera, try any website.
it will open fine.
For instance say my email at gmail.com
Now after that if i try to open anysites or even continue with my mail, it shows error saying connection not available.
One of the workaround is to go back to toggele wifi off and switched it on.
Not sure if anyone faces a similar issue.
I's been about a week since my last post and I have already witnessed a couple of cycles of WiFi connecting perfectly and then not connecting at all.
No matter the settings I try after it decides not to connect, it won't. Even to nodes it had connected perfectly and fast jus minutes before.
I thought re-flashing might help but so far has proven ineffective. Once I thought some part of the non-volitile memory was causing the problem since after I cleared the memory I could connect for a while.
Any thoughts anyone?
Same problems here.
For the last hour I have been reading 10ths of threads here concerning WiFi problems.
My HD's WiFi worked fine on my home and outside for about 2 months. Now it doesn't. It reports connection, but no program can use the internet. At best, it seems to be able to exchange some Kbytes the for just a few seconds after a connection is established. Then nothing. Connected but unusable.
Tried everything Internet/My Work/My ISP, WAP enabled/disabled, soft/hard reset, everything.
When connected through ActiveSync everything works fine, all programs see internet.
Has anybody taken their HD to the service? Has any HTC service worldwide identified the problem as hardware and solved it by replacing something?

I have just encountered a similar problem, but already used wpa/wpa2 with aes. Have tried a hard reset with no joy. My old HTC Touch has no probs connecting via wifi nor does my laptop so I would surmise that the prob is with the HD and not the router.
I am going to try flashing with the latest version of Duttys 6.1 rom and see what gives.
Edit: Tried flashing with new rom with no success. Take a look at this post.

There are a couple of files to download but i only used the second ie this one.

Now no problems and can connect via wifi no probs, ip address assigned by dhcp.
Try to go into WiFi settings and move the power slider to max performance. I need to do it here to access my router. This happened also with my HTC TyTN II, with any recent radio firmware. The original WM 6.0 ROM and it's radio work fine in low power mode, but the new ones appear connected but are always at 1 Mbps and there's no traffic until you move the slider to performance mode.
You go into WiFi settings and you configure manual IP and DNS so as router.
DNS is important.
Whit manual configuration, Wifi work always.
(sorry for my english)

This is not a solution. I didn 't buy the device to be able to connect to my home WiFi only. What about public hotspots? Or hotels? Or whatever outside your home?

Can't connect to WiFi using Touch HD

Hi everyone.
First off, I know there are a million and one other threads.. believe me.. I have searched!
Basically my phone won't connect to my network. It was working fine earlier today. I've tried changing all the security settings in my router (turning off encryption for example). I've tried soft resetting and hard resetting the phone.
Nothing seems to be working. It finds the network fine, but it just says 'Connecting' then goes to 'Available' but it won't use the wifi connection.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Have you tried connecting your device using a friends wifi router to see if this connect you
Nope. I forgot to add that I will try connecting to work's WiFi tomorrow!
Anything to try in the mean time?
Try these:
1) disable frame bursting
2) disable big packets and other methods of wifi speeding
3) force 11b
4) use WPA-PSK TKIP only
5) check if you have MAC or other access filtering
than let us know

1) Can't see any settings under my router.
2) Tried disabling gnitro (Belkin router), no difference.
3) No difference
4) Already on that.
5) Turned off.
It's so odd. Works fine with an N95.
I don't think it's anything to do with my router because like I said it worked fine earlier on in the day then suddenly stopped. The router settings hadn't changed.
Edit: I've tried turning the router security off altogether also. I really don't feel it's an issue with my router.
Tested the phone at work. It works fine.. so I don't have a clue why it's not working at home? Surely the router can't be incompatible with the phone.. especially considering it worked at one point.
Very weird! I got fed up with my router so decided to restore the factory defaults and start from scratch.. worked straight away! So I restored the settings back to exactly how they were before (using a backup file I made).. and it worked!
Just posting incase it happens to anyone else anyway.

Maybe uve tried this already but could be the fact that your home internet access point is listed as Work rather than internet, used to have an issue with mine cause of that.
I also have this problem.
Reset did not help.
Listed as internet or work did not help in both cases.
Real weird!!
I've got the same problem, all of a sudden my hd won't connect to my router.
I can connect to open networks (wi-fi hotspots etc) so i know the wifi in the phone is working ok and my partners diamond can connect ok to my router, so the router is obviously ok.
Have reset the router as well and haven't changed any settings on the phone.
Don't understand!!!!
as other users point out within other threads, it seems that Blackstone has a problem connecting to wifi networks when WPA Authentification is enabled
try to disable it. it worked for me and soem other guys
good luck!
I could connect to my router fine using my laptop.. but I still had to reset my router to the factory settings before it worked again on my Touch HD.. then I could enable WPA and everything back again. So try that!
i thought i had a similiar problem, mine wouldnt connect to wifi, kept switching itself off. figured this is normal when its connected to usb. unplug usb and it turns back on!

Hi
I used to have problem using any secure wireless connection. Then I realized that you need a personal certificate to use secure wireless networks. It uses certificate to encrypt connection between access point. I have access to a windows certificate server so I created a personal certificate with private key and import it to my mobile. Now I can login to any secure wireless network.
A solution has been posted for data connection problems. Can be found here
This may help, may not. Let me know

That solution doesn't seem to work for this problem.
Resetting the router does seem to work.
I don't get why resetting the router works.... other devices can still connect no problems before resetting, so it only seems to be aproblem with the hd.
It also sux when you are using a public router with this problem that you can't reset.
Connecting to Belkin router
Guys, I had the same problem as well. HTC touch HD used to connect to the router fine but after installing an update/upgrade it would pick the signal from the router but would not connect. (I was using WEP authentication at this time)
SOLUTION:
Go to belkin router configuration on the web.
Under security change the Securtiy Mode to WPA/WPA2-Personal(PSK)
Change authentication to WPA-PSK
Select Encryption to TKIP and enter your password.
GO to your HTC touch HD's WiFi setting and turn Wifi ON. Select your home network SSID and edit it using the information you used on the router i.e. WPA-PSK ; TKIP, enter your key/password and click next, next and finish.
Worked for me....hope it helps.
WIFI not connecting
That truly is extremly nasty.
I have the same issue - wifi found, correct password (WEP, WPA all settings) but no successful connection.
Took an old HTC 3xxx - runs immediately.
I can not reset the router - there are too many users, they will kill me then.
So I installed an Access point (Sparklan WX 7800A) to play with.
Notebooks (HP, MSI and ASUS) have successful internet access, also the old HTC 3xxx.
But still the HTC HD does not connect.
Tried "WIFI Monster" - shows the wifi, but does not connect.
(But it deletes all wifi entries easily - so you can set them up new)
Tried with NO security/password: same issue.
WEP, WPA (all kinds): no connection
There must be something to be changed in the registry - but I have no idea what & where.
Or is the wifi that useless ?????
Maybe someone can help
Ciao
Mike
I had the same problem. But the problem stopped when i connect my htc HD to my laptop and used activesync to connect to internet. After i disconnected it, open wifi and... works ok!!

Wifi disconnection

Hello all,
I've been searching trough this forum without finding the answer,
I've just bought a HD2 Leo and when I connect this little jewel to my wifi network, it works well for a few seconds (minutes sometimes) and then disconnect automatically.
It also create a conflict with my computers in the network..
I've changed the IP address for my computers, for my HTC, it doesn't change anything.
My removed the security (WEP) of the network just in case, it doesn't change anything.
I've allocated the DNS address of my Internet connection but doesn't change either.
(Yes, i've turn the mode to "best performance" )
Does somebody have the solution, it's really annoying having this HTC to surf on the net and not possible to surf more than 30 sec.
Many thanks for your help
What do you mean it creates a conflict? A conflict like 2 systems having the same ip-address?
Are you using DHCP or static ip's?
In my experience, the hd2 always gets 192.168.1.147. So make sure none of your pc's take that ip.
Hi,
I tought it was that, a conflict between 2 devices having the same IP address, that's why I allocated an IP address for every device (computer, HTC,...).
When I talk about a conflict, I say it disconnect the internet connection to my PC as well.
I'm using DHCP (no static IP).
do you have something ?
try updating the radio rom if you just bought the phone otherwise maybe you need to exchange.
I've changed it to Leo_RADIO_2.07.50.27_2 is it the latest ?
anyone another idea ?
it's really anoying, I cannot use skype or another voip call because it's running 1 min maximum, no youtube,...
I have the same problem since i have installed the rom 1.66 NL
same problem here. Only time I didn't have this issue (or at least did not notice it ) was when I was still running the original Dutch 2.04 stock rom.
I've tried all Energy roms and used wifimonster. I have good to excellent signal upon connection and then, after a few seconds the complete signal falls away.
Returns a few seconds later and I regain good to excellent connection.
I repositioned my wifi router to a more open place, thinking the issue was related to that but it doesn't matter.
I tried the Wifi N setting, having a Linksys/cisco WRT610N router but it makes no difference either.
Suggestions well appreciated!
DicE
up,
it seems that I'm not the only one,
(maybe a stupid question, are you all from Belgium ? because I can see that DicEvsTytnII have proximus).
any help ?
