I can't hard reset my device???
It just operates as a soft reset, I hold in Comms Button / Voice button together and press reset with stylus and all I get is a reboot????
You have to press 3 buttons in addition to the reset button with the stylus.
The 3rd button is the power button.
You have the correct buttons. Just hold the Comm and Voice buttons. Place the stylus in the hole and release. Keep hold of the Comms and Voice button then you will get a message on the screen. Hit the send key. I.E green talk key.
Regarding the HARD RESET.
a) I unlocked my MDA Vario with the unlock software from here. After the Hard reset , is the telephone then again locked.
b) There is a new update from TMobile for the MDA Vario.If I update it , is the unlock tool still working.
c) What is a good backup program ?

VoiceDial button + communications button + soft reset. You will get a screen that prompt you press answer button
Does anyone here knows how to perform a hard reset for a Dopod 838? I have a user who bought a phone in China but did not bring his manual.
1. Press and hold voice button + communication button
2. Press and release reset button
3. Keep holding voice + comm untill message appears on the screen
4. Follow instruction in the message

Can anyone guide me how to hard re-set Wizard (Qtek 9100)
all i can do is soft-reset. I cannot find any button which could hard-reset it.
Start->settings->system->clear storage
Alternatively you can hold down the voice command button and comm manager button then press the tiny hole on the side with your stylus. (i think thats correct perhaps someone can refresh my memory)
Press & hold the Comm Manger button & Voice Command button on the device.
Keep the two buttons pressed and at the same time use the stylus to lightly press & hold the RESET button.

I've just hard reset my phone this weekend :
1) Press & hold the Comm Manger button and Voice Command button on the device.
2) Keep these two buttons pressed and use your stylus to press the reset button.
3) Keep everything pressed for about 5seconds then release the Reset button (with your stylus)
4) Release the Comm Manager and Voice Command buttons
5) A message should appear on the screen
6) Press the green phone button to validate the hard reset ...

I've been trying for a couple of hours: Press Comm Manager button and Voice Command button + reset button. Nothing happens--it just acts like a soft reset.
I need to do this because I believe my comm ports are messed up. I can't pair the device with a GPS.
I had the same problem with my GPS reciever but I just played with using different port setups and eventually figured it out... though I can't remember how.
Hard Reset
Press and hold the voice command button and comms manager button then use the stylus to press the reset button for about a second whilst holding the other two buttons down. After releasing the reset button and still holding the other two down wait until the screen gets some white writing on it about hard reseting and formating... this is the point you can now let go of the comms and voice buttons. Then press send
hi i have a i mate jaq asking password i try to reset but fail plz help me how to hard reset .....
here i read the procissor but fail to reset plz help
1) Turn Phone Off.
2) Press and hold the two soft Keys at the same time.
3) Turn the phone on (dont let go of the soft keys.
4) When the screen turns on, immediately release the soft keys.
5) A black screen should come up with white text stating to press 0 to reset device. Any other key to exit.
The key to the hard reset using the softkeys is to only press the end/power button for a short time. Then a black screen will come up. Press 0 and the phone will do a hard reset.

If it is the i-mate jam you need to hold in the power button & press the reset button using the stylus.

I believe for the i-mate Jaq the hard reset is as instructions below:
note: all three buttons are to be pressed at the same time
1)push stylus into soft reset hole + press FN key + press right soft key.
2) phone will restart to factory settings
