Answering machine software for WM5 - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi All,..
Some time ago I had an Nokia 7650, (Symbian OS). For this phone there was an answering machine software available. This software worked very well!!
Is there software which functions as a Answering machine for the Pocket PC? When available I don't have to call my Providers voicemail. This can be very handy because I need to pay to hear my T-mobile NL's voicemail box...
Best regards
Arjan

I remember that software was a handy app.
Would be nice to have it for the Universal too.

Fax

The only fault of this machine is a fax program missing. I know that Truefax of KSE doesn't work withh some rom vers. Anybody knows what is the rom that works with truefax?
I've tested TruefAX 2.08 with my qtek but doesn't work...
Bye, M.
Ive used TrueFAx with my Qtek 2020 (Himalaya) with rom 1.66..
Had some problems in the beginning, but that was because my operator didn't provide fax capabilities without first gettin' some cash...
We can't really blame KSE for the fax problems, the main problem is threefold:
- The PocketPC OS doesn't support more than one application responding to a particular type of call (voice/fax/data)
- The PPC Phone software opens all types, even the ones it can't handle
- The interface to the Radio firmware doesn't support the standard fax modem commands.
KSE have tried very hard to provide fax capability, they actually bypass the main OS and driver functions with some very low level code (which is why you can't just let it receive incoming faxes as and when, you have to switch to "wait to receive" mode; and also why it only works with certain firmware versions).
Until Microsoft and HTC actually realise that some people want to fax using PPC Phone edition, this situation won't change. Don't expect nice transparent SymbianOS style faxing any time soon.
I'm... very sad...
Hello;
I just tried truefax for XDAII with my i-mate on ROM1.72 it seems to finally works.

Does Memory map OS mapping software work with it?

Hi,
I'm considering purchasing an Magician (XDA Mini) but one of the reasons for doing so is to use a program called Memory Map (www.memory-map.co.uk) combined with a GPS receiver to go walking/cycling with.
Does anyone know if the memory map software works? It claims to be compatible with "Any Pocket PC that uses the Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 or Windows Mobile 2003 or later." but I'm not 100% convinced that this includes the phone version... no one in the highstreet phone shops can answer this question and I would like to be sure before shelling out on a new phone!
FYI: memory map do a free 30 day trial, so if you're interested you could always try it out and let me know....
Thank you
yes it should work ok with the mini
works fine on my Blueangel, so I can't see why it wouldn't work on magician.
Works fine on my MDA Compact
It works!
Excellent, I'll be getting one then.... just got to wait 2 weeks for my orange contract to run out - what a long 2 weeks they are going to be!
Thanks all for your replies.
Cheers
Glyn.

Thinking of buying one, need your advice

OK, so I am looking to buy a Jam. I am in the UK and currently carry around an IPAQ with TOMTOM on for the car, a Nokia mobile phone and a Blackberry for my work email.
I've been reading these threads for some time and see there are some problems and no one can get the Blackberry client to work. But it could still save me two of the devices I currently have (phone / tomtom).
Which GPS devices are you using with the Jam and TomTom, are you happy with them and how much were they (in UK)?
Can I use bluetooth headset and bluetooth GPS with TOMTOM at the same time? e.g. if I am driving and tomtom is nagivating me, can I make and receive calls still?
How good is it as a phone? Is sound quality ok? I will be using it for work so can't afford to have something that isn't reliable and will annoy my customers!
Is there anything else coming along in the short term I should wait for instead of getting the Jam?
From your wealth of experience, do you recommend I get one or wait?
Will is work in America? My company is based in Boston and I travel there sometimes so it would need to work out there too.
Many thanks in advance for any advice.
I would wait for a similar device that ships with the new Windows Mobile 5. As it stands, there will be no official release of the OS for the Magician :-(
When released in September, the ETEN M600 will be a very good alternative.
(Hope HTC, imate, etc. read these forums!!!)
Just found this: http://www.mobile-review.com/exhibition/computex-2005-smarts-en.shtml
Looks like the R-Ten M600 might be the one I wait for as it has WM 5.0 and WiFi. Unless HTC release a new Magician.
You guys mean ETEN M600 ? But in another thread here they were saying Eten M500 is good enough... ?

Howto self activate BT on incoming call?

Hello!
I want to know if there is any solution to activate Bluetooth on incoming call and deactivate when finished.
Thanks for your reply
Pocket Bluetooth Tools or the latest beta of Pocket Zen Phone - both work.
I saw on this forum that pocket BT tools doesn't work. Because M$ stack
Or is there a new solution to make it work.
You didn't say your device.
Works fine on my XdaII (1.60 ROM with MS stack). Backup, try it, roll back if necessary. Or use PZP.
One would assume that since it's in the Magician forum, that's the device he was talking about. 8)
Erm... ah... well...
D'Oh!
What I meant was the OS/ROM version (by implication) but, yeah, it didn't quite make it, huh?
Does anyone know if pocket bluetooth work with xds iis? I tried to install it but oncall bluetooth activation didn't work.
Oh yes sorry.. my system is an SPV M500/Qtek S100/Magician My ROM is 1.12.02 FRE, Radio is 1.12.10, and no more EXTRom.
Some pople want to try with Bluesoleil BT Stack, but nobody is sure of this hack. What is PZP?
Thanks
Still not woking with Pocket Bluetooth tools.
PZP = Pocket Zen Phone. Search here in the xda-dev forums.
DKToday does this and is a wicked little app.
anyone use DKToday with xda iis?

Answering machine.

Im looking high and low for an answering maching that is compatible with WM5.
I have a qtek 9100.
does anyone knows one???
It will be very nice...i'm looking for an answering machine too...does anyone can help us?
sorry
uptill this moment i did not find an answering machine for the wizard devices if anyone will help us in this will be great
not on the mda, but works great
goto k7.net, get a free phone number. set your mda phone to forward to this number when busy, no answer (or whatever condition you want it to be). set k7 to forward received voicemails/faxes (!) to your phone email address (comes in as mms) or via email (comes in as audio file/tiff file). all free, works fine..
Due to a hardware limitation of the Wizard, WM5 does not have access to the incoming GSM Voicestream. WHat this means is that you cannot use a software answering machine on the HTC Wizard.
There is no answering machine software for any current PPC PE device (except the built-in ones on some Gigabyte models); see http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1264&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 for an explanation.
