I cannot find it in the manual, and do not know how to switch it on!
Sorry about the basic nature of the question guys!

Ok, Ok!
While you lot were all sniggering in the background there, I have found the setting, and yes, it was in the manual!

Help Remember software name

Guys and Girls
Sometime ago I saw here comments about a software that was pretty usefull for me, but now I don´t have it anymore, I don´t remember the name and I would like it back very much.
What it does?
It is used to clean somekind of garbage information left everytime the PPC is softreseted. This garbage make the PPC becomes very slugish with time and the use of this software help clean this garbage and soo bring some speed back to the PPC.
Someone did used this software?
Felipe

Cheers man
Read that post, and tried the the corparate option, and it worked
but then, out of pure interest i decided to try the Basic option
and that did just what i wanted it to do
it installed the good stuff, but not the AUI
Thanks man, my phone is super fast now..
Marc
Glad I could help.
By the way, check all your GPRS and MMS stuff is working OK. Once I'd done the above I had to install an Orange contract CAB file (I'm on Orange) before MMS would work (even though that just seemed to set the same MMS settings that I already had).
Just out of interest, what was "the good stuff"?
Good Stuff
O2 Battery Bar
O2 Wifi Hotspots Directory
O2 Background
O2 GPRS Settings
O2 MMS Settings
so i kept the good stuff, but got rid of the bad stuff.....
Thanks again
Can you tell me what the "bad stuff" is and what is to be gained by this?
How do you put it into basic mode?
Do you need to back-up all your files first?
Thanks in advance.
the bad things really that were taken away were the stupid Active User interface that o2 has
it killed it good,
i had to do a hard reset to make ti happen though...
but it is working great now

How to disable SIM contact on Smart Dialing

Hi guys! This is my first post!! Just got an I-mate Jam, just wondering how does one disable SIM contacts on smart dialing. When I try to search a contact on Smart Dial, it shows both contacts I have in the phone and the contacts in my SIM card, therefore 2 contacts would show up. Anyways to fix this?
Please RTFM!

ooo get the wannabe mod
What if he got the phone without a manual or has lost it.
Its the guys first post!!!!! The reply was unacceptable.
If i had a manual myself i would have told him the answer.
Ha, I've got the same thing on my MDA Compact- hasn't really bothered me until I saw this topic
I will have to RTFM tonight i think
It makes a VERY BIG DIFFERENCE if at least explain that the unit was acquired without the manual or CD which contains the manual, or as you (pda) said the manual/CD got lost.
I've been in Tech Support for 15 years and believe me, I know when people ask for help without reading the manual.
@sh500: That's the right attitude! Right on!
i rtfm - 3.3 Smart dialing (page 22 in russian manual) but did not find the solution....
hmm, so zerimar, y dont u tell us how to do it? i believe u do kno how to do it, coz u've been in "Tech Support for 15 years" and must hav "rtfm" pretty many times n probably kno "tfm" by heart.. theres no harm tellin as "Forums are designed to help people" rite?
From Page 49 of Manual
Smart Dialiing searches the Phonebook entries in both the SIM card and Pocket Contacts, as well as numbers in Call History (Incoming, Outgoing, or Missed).

With what is said in the manual there is no way of filtering out entries from the SIM card. The only way is if there is a 3rd party software that would;
1. Replace Smart Dialing
2. Have similar feature like in Nokia phones to select which phonebook to use .
@Appu: I never read manuals from cover-to-cover for whatever gadgets I buy, but I browse through it to have an idea of the features, capabilities and limitations of the gadget. I keep the manual handy just in case I am not clear about something.
Forgot to mention. The only way would be to delete the entries in the SIM card (anyway a copy is is Pocket Contacts which is then syncronized to Outlook).
aah so thts how it is.. thanx, zerimar..
hope this info by zerimar was useful for btong and everybody else around..
Ah it's a shame there was not concrete answer....
What's not concrete? It's crystal clear that it's designed as a feature but for most of us has become a disadvantage. This shows that's it's a limitation of the OS/software. From the day I acquired my S100 and noticed the problem, I have already started searching for a solution (3rd party software, or registry hack).
This is similar to the BT issue. By default, the only way to switch on BT is to switch off Flight Mode first and this is solved by PocketMax's Phone Alarm.

Well I was making reference to the originial question and the simple answer to it is no, you can't select which phone book to browse; whether the manual was read or not prior to the question being asked.
In my opinion a 'designed feature' in this case would be one that gave users the option. The way it is currently is more of a 'design by default'.
Thanks, that's the answer I wanted... It's my first time posting here, doesn't mean it's my first time posting in a forum. I wouldn't have asked this question if it was clearly written on the menu or if someone asked the same question in the forum... 15 years of tech support eh? maybe it's about time to change job before getting fired...

Rather, you should have give more information on this PIN you are refering to. Else, I will point you to
Start -> Settings -> Lock

The PIN you are reffering too is for securing the handset.
Thanks anyway
Martin
That would be the PIN in the Blackberry Connect Software.
As mentioned here, no. You can't change it.

Post #89. Or better if you just read the entire thread Maybe there are hacks to it in later posts.
Hi
Thanks hanmin . I had a look at the thread.
I will get my network providor to see if they can contact Blackberry and see if they can do anything .
Cheers

WM6 Device Lock Filename

Does anyone know the exact name and location of the WM6 device lock file, ie the one where you can either use a simple pin or a complex password to enter your device? I definitely do not mean keylock.exe, as this is the wrong file.
I have searched this entire site using both google search and the normal search and drawn a blank. Also drawn a blank on the wider internet search although I admit my search criteria may be the problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.
WB
if you can't find an existing app to run that will lock your device, perhaps it would be easier to write your own?
at first glance, it would appear that a call to SHDeviceLockAndPrompt would do what you need
dalelane,
Thanks for this pointer. Interesting thought on writing a bespoke app; however I'm keen to use what's already there.
Problem is I need to ensure that one cannot circumvent the existing lock process when its engaged. At the moment I can do this, which worries me.
Appreciate the input.
WB
Hi
Have you found a Solution?
LG
Daniel
DanielS,
I went down the route where I made sure I wasn't running any apps that could circumvent the lock and that's about it, really.
I never actually got a direct answer to the original question I posed.
Cheers
WB
