Restoring files from extended rom? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I have a T-Mobile MDA Vario and to get rid of standard T-Mobile wallpapers aand stuff I have deleted some files from the extended rom, using the program Total Commander. Off course I've made a backup of the extended rom first.
However, I deleted one file that I like to have back. How can I restore that file from my back up?
Cheers

The actaul t mobile stuff is written in to customisation file for the k jam.
I initially di dteh hard reset, then reset again. But my phone still had the tmobile phone pad erghhh.
So hard reset, browse through your back up and play with files till you find the one you need. Run from the sd card.

Hmm, I still do not get it. I have put the file i'd like to have back in my extended rom on my SD. Now, if I run that particular .cab file, I get confirmnation that the file has been installed.
However, if I explore my extended rom with Total Commander, the file has not been put back in the extended rom. Even if I soft reset.
So, can anybody explain how to put a back upped file that is on my SD back into the extended rom?
Another question I can not find a clear answer for: how do I get into bootloader so I can update my TMobile Vario Rom to a I-mate rom. Any step by step how-to?
Thanks
Still learning what I can about this stuff, n00b.....

Hi,
Just copy and past it back to the Extended_ROM, on the Vario the Extended_ROM is only hidden, not locked. It should be named Hidden_RAM

yeah but jasjars ext rom is not hidden but its locked....opposite to what youve said
Well, i have been successful in copying the contents of the ext.rom to my notebook. I have also deleted all the unnecessary files from the ext.rom and done a hard-reset but lo behold...they re-appear!
I am wondering if there is anyway we can just delete those files so that they can be used for storage.
Any takers?
Just recieved my Qtek 9100 and installed Total commander, I can see the extended rom folder but it is empty!??? How come???

2.16.9 ext rom help

i try to delete allt he files from the Ext rom using total commander and it tells me cannot delete 4 files or some amount of files and the files extended_rom folder ends up looking like "defau~1.cab" and "defau~2.cab" etc so i hard reset and the extended rom folder is empty. Now i try to paste what i want in the extended rom and it asks if i want to overwite the file, i click overwrite all and it says "cannot copy or move file!" what do i do?
The new firmware locks the Extended_Rom. As far as I know, there is no way around it until someone (I hope) figures it out
but some people posted that they successfully copied and pasted files in and out of the extended_rom folder. I need to get this figured out cuz i leave tomorrow at 8am its now midnight

At this stage there is no way that i know of to get round the new i-mate ext_rom protection. I had posted in another thread that i was successful editing the ext_rom until i did a soft reset when it then spat the dummy and corrupted the lot. I then corrected this info in another post. (not sure if it was mine you saw)
I wouldnt expect you will get it resolved in the specified timeframe :?
ahh ok, i'll live with it for the next week or so. just did a backup using spb backup after several flashes and hard resets and now its back like i never did did a single hard reset
thanks for the info

How to restore a ROM file?

I'm able to overwrite or "delete" any ROM file that is visible in the \Windows folder. But how can I restore the original ROM file back without a hard reset?
What do you mean "delete"?
When you copy over a ROM file what actually happens is you file is placed in flash and 'covers' the original file.
If you delete you copy the original file will be back tough you will probably need a soft reset before you can see / use it.
The ROM file it self can not be deleted from windows as it is the representation of actual ROM and not a flash copy.
Probably I did something wrong, but when I wanted to use blue (original, in ROM) CommManager.exe, I had to copy it to the flash card after a hard reset, but before the Extended ROM setup, then copy it back to \Windows. It had "ROM" attribute set. When I tried to delete the green version (copied over from Extended ROM), I ended up with no such a file at all... That's a kind of "delete".
Same I have read in the forum: to save this blue file, then to copy it back.
I want to play with content of extended ROMs available, whcih have newer versions of some system files, and want to be able to restore all things back after tries.
OK, just tried tio delete the green CommManager.exe, and - voila!- the blue one with ROM attribute appeared immediatelly! So, it was really a misunderstanding... still curious why the blue one was even uploaded there for downloading...

camera apps

i 've deleted something:
i've lost original composition templates (my daughter like pics with them....)
how can i reinstall original camera apps?
or somebody can mail me that templates?
thanks
as far as i know, unhide your extended rom (hard reset, and then a soft reset b4 your device starts installing the custom applications), and then navigate to the extended rom folder and install anything camera-related...
if you haven't done anyhacks then just hard reset it will automatically insatll
Dont make a hard reset
use the program LoadVDisk.exe or .lnk in windows folder of the device.
This will show you your extended_rom folder, where the original software is in, and you can reinstall the software you need.
Hope to help you with that.
If you cannot find the file, dont look with the original file-explorer, use another tool like total commander (its free), and let you show all files!

remove file protection

I have a wing withthe standard tmobile ROM and i want to remove certain things like the link for the myfavs junk in the startup folder and the crappy ringtones that come with the device but when i try to delete these files with total commander it says they are protected. how can i remove this protection without purchasing software?
they're built into the rom. you would have to flash a new rom to remove them.
Alternatively, do a hard reset. After you do setup, do a soft reset just before it starts customizing.
another possible solution is to get a file explorer like total commander then click and hold on the file. You can access the properties and change read only. I think its possible to replace the file with a file of the same name...so just create a text file I guess and name it the same as the file you want to get rid of. This should help you improve usability. But afaik removing stuff from the rom doesn't increase your storage memory, that is unless you are running Tadzio's tool first.
or the easy way would to download new Touch it rom for the wing which I'm guessing would have all that T-mobile crap removed.
