Automatic VPN connection - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

What is it that triggers the VPN to connect? As I understood it it was trying to connect to a private IP - however, if I use ActiveSync to connect to 192.168.10.16 it doesn't try and connect. In fact, it rarely tries to connect even if I goto Connection -> VPN and try "Connect" - it just makes a GPRS connection, but doesn't even appear to try and connect to the VPN.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.

perhaps the active sync program isn't triggered to connect through VPN when connecting to a "excluded" adress, and all the other programs are?

Activesync passthrough not working..

PROBLEM SOLVED, APPEARS TO BE A NETWORK ISSUE
New question posted in second post.
I've searched the forums and the internet extensively without any help so here I am, asking for the community's help.
I can activesync just fine (ActiveSync 4.2) and am able to connect to the internet just as well from my Wizard via WiFi however I am unable to access the internet from my Wizard via ActiveSync passthrough.
I have selected "This computer is connected to the internet" in ActiveSync and, when viewing my network connections, I see the ActiveSync connection is in working order (IP address: 169.254.2.2).
I am unable to connect to the internet as well as my LAN because I tried pulling up my router's web interface in PIE only to receive this error:
"Unable to connect due to an unknown error [some crazy error number]."
I'm unable to connect to the internet with any application (tried sending email, updating pocket weather, egress, etc).
I've also uninstalled and reinstalled ActiveSync.
I haven't always had this problem and I can only think of two things I've done in the interim: I'm at a different house thus my desktop connects to a different network and I've installed (and subsiquently uninstalled) HitchHiker b.41.
Anyone have any ideas?
it is a network issue..
EDIT: I'm ridiculous.
After trying it out at work, I'm left to assume that the problem is a network issue (I'm able to connect at work).
This, however, brings me to a different question. I currently have four network connections set up: Blank, MEdia Net, My Work Network, My ISP. I have "Blank" set as the connection to use for both programs that connect automatically to the inernet as well as for those that connect automatically to my work network EDIT: this is my problem ... I had to set up "programs that connect to my work network ..." to use the work network connection (obvious?) I always assumed this meant programs that would only be accessing my work (I.E. a VPN client).. My question is that in order for me to connect to the internet from work, I have to add my proxy settings to the "Blank" connection. Adding them to the "My Work Network" connection does nothing. This leads me to believe that setting the "This computer connects to ..." dialog in ActiveSync accomplishes nothing. Can anyone help me with this? I'd like to connect using my work proxy while I'm at work and no proxy while I'm at home (is that too much to ask) but, apparently, selecting the appropriate value in the "This computer connects to" dialog in ActiveSync isn't enough.

HP 6965 Mail setup issue

I have set up Wifi in my HP6965 to access the internet via proxy for "Work" connection, and direct to the Internet for my home Wifi router. I can connect to the Internet easily through Internet Explorer both at home and at work. But when I try to access pop mail (e.g. Yahoo), when I am connected to "Work", it tries to connect through GPRS Connection, not through Wifi. This is rather odd, as there is no such problem when I am connected at home, where it downloads my pop mail through the Wifi connection.
Any help will be appreciated.
on the desktop activesync app go to connection settings and try changing it to "automatic".

Internet via VPN & WIFI

I nerver really understood Microsofts concept behind the Internet / Private Network differentiation in WM, therefore i got a small problem right now.
What i would like to do is browsing the internet using PIE in the following network environment:
An accesspoint provides access to an unsecured wifi containing nothing but a pptp vpn server. The vpn then allows accessing the internet.
Currently i got managed to connect to the wifi and to properly set up the vpn under the "my work connection" settings. when i manualy connect to the vpn the connection gots established. The problem is that this only works if:
"Programms that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" is set to "my isp" and
"Programms that automatically connect to a provate should connect using:" is set to "my work network".
this of course lets the vpn collapse when the pie is running, because it is configured to use "my isp" instead of "my work connection".
When both options are set to "My work connection" mannually connecting to the vpn leads to a "cannot connect with current connection settings[...]" error.
any ideas?
Hi
go to connections then advanced, then go to exceptions and add a new url
add
*
and
*.*
then it should route the connections via the VPN and not disconnect it
Regards
works for PIE!
thank you!
(is there also a solution for the messaging (email) application?)
should do emails too
I havent used VPN for a while so might set it up and try it again if i get some time

Automatically Start VPN Connection

Can anyone suggest a way to get my VPN Connection to start automatically when my phone connects to the data network?
I use my HTC Touch for work and can't connect to the exchange server unless I have a VPN connection made.
It's a pain in the butt to have to manually start the connection thru (settings/connections/Edit My VPN Settings).

VPN connection drops when Activesync connects - Assistance required

I have a HTC Touch 3G (Jade) running Windows Mobile 6.1, i have managed to set up the VPN connection with my work server, the phone connects to the server (although it does say the connection is not encrypted), but when i set Activesync going of the phone the server drops the VPN connection
I have read about adding the server address into the exceptions list, but this does not help.
Any assistance would be much appreciated
Thank you
think it could be because if
settings->connections->connections->advanced-selecet network is set
to my home network
that would make the device try and use the network connection it get access to from active-sync and drop the connection it is using to connect to vpn
I would turn of the ability to use the active-sync as network connection

Click to collapse
Thanks for the advice Rudegar
settings->connections->connections->advanced is set to;
Programs that automatically connect to internet = Mobile web
Programs that automatically connect to private network = My Work Network
I would try and change the later of the options
and maybe look in pc activesync for the ability to turn of network sharing
Help!!!!, still no joy
