CAMERA not working after upgrading to 1.12 version - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Dear users
Following wiki upgrading procedure I have upgraded my MDA compact to 1.12 WWE. But Camera is not starting at all. Nor I can find Camera Link in programms
Can someone help?
Where can I download a camera.cab?
Thanks
Simon

The camera cab can be found in any of the extended ROMs available on the ftp. Just download the one that corresponds to the ROM that you installed.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician

I tried but still failed!
I tried but still failed!
from your suggested ftp site I downloaded:
Camera_Wizard_Magician_T-Mobile_WWE_RC23_Customize.CAB
But then nothing changed, only I got -album- application, which before was not there.
Simptoms:
when I push CAMERA button, it looks like "camera" is starting, but then after 2-3 ecs, it ABORTS
Please help

No Sound, No Camera - Is is bluetooth.cab fault?

OK, im a newbie here. but have had an XDA from day one, also XDAII from release.
I've got no sound on my XDAII also the camare doesn't work
Failed to inialise camera. please reset the hardware - 36001:100:2
i did a search and discovered the no sound problem is due to my recent uninstall of the bluetooth.cab
I however don't know why the Camera isn't working.
My question is: is it easier to upgrade to the latest ROM?
You could try initialising the camera install from the extended rom which contains the camera cab file, you will need to unlock the extended partition beforehand.
i get a similar problem after palying an MPEG file via pocket TV
get the following message :
UNABLE TO SAVE THE CAPTURED IMAGE.
36001:500:10
UNABLE TO GET DATA FROM CAMERA DEVICE
i need to know if this is a problem with pocket TV so i can report to them or is it something on the device?
also downloaded the XDA Special ROM, is it worth upgrading to this ?
any help on this would be great guys. thanks
Please do N O T install the special edition rom, it is for xda 1 only.

Updating Qtek - I'm so screwed - i bit longer down the road

Device: Qtek 9000 - straight from Dangaard with no operator personalisation.
Started out with the USB connection problem. Solved that according to descriptions in previous threads.
Flashing stopped due to it not being an O2 device.
Extracted files from the Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v113188.exe.
Tried to download /Uploads/Universal/MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe, but exactly that file could not be downloaded (I can download the other files - ????). Found another file called MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe linked from this forum. It is from 16/3-2005 and illustrates an S100.
Flashing seems to go OK. PC and Qtek says 100% complete after the 3 stages.
Hard reset gives the option of 0 for Factory reset or X for reset
Hard reset results (either 0 or X) in dark screen saying "Serial", "v1.00" (Bootloader?). I have now flashed 4 times with the same results :x
Can the cause of my problems be the "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe" from March? If so, can someone give a working link for the right version of the file - please
If not - please help - I am in deep troubles
Best Regards
Steen
You have to upgrade the Radio ROM separately. Look for posts in here or Universal Upgrading for "unbricking your Universal" or something to that effect.
I have been looking and searching, but I’m unable to sort out of the abundance of information what should be done in my situation.
The installation information is blank for all the 3 groups displayed under “From version”, so I guess the device is totally blank – under these circumstances I can’t see why the radio Radio ROM should be updated separately.

IT'S ALIVE
Installed the seperate Radio ROM on top of the previous installations. It has now booted and I'm setting it up.
Thank's for the advice BeyondtheTech
... it was worth alot, all though I in my panic could not se the light at the end of the tunnel

02 xda exec upgrade to imate

I want to upgrade my 02 rom to the imate rom
which imate rom supports the aku2 patch, as o2 dont know when there going to release this support.
this is also my question, is it possible to use Imate Jasjar ROM for O2 Exec, and where i can get it , then i can use O2 software on new ROM ? Thank you.
YES!
I upgraded my O2 Exec to the new i-mate ROM and man.. it's like owning a completely different machine.
plenty of memory left ( i guess memory leaks were mostly fixed)
dazzling speed.
machine doesn't get stuck several times a day.
I am happy.
You have the official ROM. Search through it, I don't know in which thread I saw it, but the filename is: JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship.zip
You should be able find it here using the search button.
Then you need to use a tool called maupgradeut_noid_645.exe
Also available here. It will allow to install the JASJAR ROM on O2 Exec. But I think your warrenty will voice.. unless you revert back to the O2 ROM which is downloadable from my-xda.com
MOBILER
Sorry again, i have this question, my XDA Exec is unlocked by deffault, after updated with the Imate ROM, is my Exec still unlocked ? Thank you.

From the link under i-mate in the wiki page for universal
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Upgrades
go to ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/
Get the file JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship.zip. About 64Mb. Unzip the file twice & you will get the readme.doc file for the instruction.
Any idea where i can find maupgradeut_noid_645.exe? Tried search and tried the ftp, no luck.

Thanks for your replies and PMs, i-Mate rom is now installed
Also got fed up with waiting for O2 update and tonight loaded the imate rom and push email is working nicely . I will try and post some instructions tomorrow if I get chance.
what should be the final specs
mine are ROM 1.13.82 WWE
rom date 11/30/05
radio 1.09.00
protocol 42.42.P8
Ext ROM 1.13.188 WWE
ihave downloaded imate JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship should I update with this my O2 EXEC
Please advise
Here is the process as promised. There isnt too much too it so hopefully you will be able to understand my ramblings.
You need the Imate JASJAR rom file which I downloaded from
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Universal/Shipped_Complete_Updates/
The file that you need is JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship.zip.
First thing to do is to extract the files in the exe. There are two ways you could do this.
You can do this by running the exe file this will extract the files into a temporary directory in your profile.. for example c:\documents and settings\username\Local Settings\Temp, look for a very recently created directory in there, don’t ok the error message that you get when you run the exe as it will delete the temporary files. Just copy the files out of the temp directory somewhere else.
OR
You can use winrar to extract the files from the exe. Extract all the files into a single flat directory. Remove all directory structures so that you are left with just one directory containing all the files. (didnt try this way but I presume it will work)
Then download this file
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Tools/MaUpgradeUt_noID.zip
Extract the .exe in there to the same directory containing all your other files.
Then you need to make a small change to one of the text files. Look in the directory for
RUU.conf
Open it in notepad and add this line
[CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1
then save it
That’s about it…..
Usual wavers at this point.. upgrading flash may lead to dead device.. do so at your own risk… invalidate warranty…etc etc
Once you have plucked up the courage connect your device up to Active sync and run the exe file that was contained in the MaUpgradeUt_noID.zip file that you downloaded.
It seemed to take around 30 mins for the whole update process.
Im just going through adding my applications again and setting up the Vodafone GPRS configuration but so far seems fine and push email works nice and fast so I am pleased I have made the change.
Hi jwarbutron,
Thanks for the walkthrough, Im following your instructions and have now started the upgrade.
I got past the screen where it tells me my current version numbers and what the new versions will be. I said OK, go for it, and now its displaying the 'Checking the information on your device .. please wait ..' screen, I presume I just wait for 30 mins or so and the upgrade is complete? There isn't a progress bar or another screen Im supposed to see?
Cheers
Nas
hanks jwarbutron,
Your procedure works like a charm Thanks once again . Pl let me know how to get original #D phone pad interface
Unfortunately it didn't work for me, I left my phone plugged in for about 4 hours, it still just displayed the checking page, and now my phone wont start. Switching it on, I see some text in portrait mode saying usb at the top, and v1.00 at the bottom.
I'll dig around this forum to see if I can find a solution.
Nas
Third attempt looks to be good though! Got the progress bar, upgrading now...
Nas
Just updated last night, and good grief the imate ROM is so much better.
Its much smoother, quicker and generally a much more pleasant experience.
Very much recommended to anyone who who has the Exec.
Cheers
Rich
Well, my upgrade completed, but I still get the portrait page with USB at the top and v1.00 at the bottom. The upgrade said it had completed successfully, is there a step I have missed?
Cheers
Nas
Im starting the upgrade again to see if I missed anything, I have the screen with the progress bar, so I know its doing *something*.
While its going, any ideas what I might of missed?
Thanks
Nas

WM2003, No Camera

Hello,
I flashed back to Windows Mobile 2003 SE after having windows mobile 6 installed.
The only problem is the camera does not work, There is no camera option in the menu, and when I press the camera button nothing happens.
The OS I flashed with is WM2003SE 2.06.00WWE XDA2 from the buzzdev website.
Any help?
Thanks.
sounds like you dident put in a new extended rom where the cam software autoinstall from
I searched on the forums for extended rom and found this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=221732
So I put contents in my STORAGE, as per instructions, and now I am flashing, is this the correct way?
One Question, is there any newer WM2003 SE ROM avaliable for himalaya than WM2003SE 2.06.00WWE?
Edit : Nothing happened I still do not have camera, and I also notice My XDA II splashscreen is not showing up, instead it is a blank screen, probably some firmwares I flashed with earlier messed everything up on my himalaya.
Edit 2 : I manually looked through the extended rom contents and found the camera and installed it and a few other programs, but I get error "the program you have installed may not display properly because it was designed for a previous version of Windows Mobile software" nonetheless it works
extended rom is a nbf file like a real rom it include a list of cab files and a text file which list the cabs
after a hardreset it auto install all the cabs
you dont need to flash a nbf file (it's don the same way as a normal rom buzzdev prob got some)
about 2003SE then it's a bit of a bastard rom
it was never released (as far as i know) as WWE (world wide english)
but only as chineese and was manualy translated to english by fans (heard that there are still chineese bits around in the rom which display as garbage chars)
about a later 2003SE then there was another chineese rom 2.11 or something like that
but it was pretty unstable so never translated to english
personaly i were to drop wm6 wm6.1 or wm5 and go back i would go to wm2003 not se
version 1.77 as it's more stable so unless one need the rotate without a softreset (which is pretty much the only thing i recall SE offering )
About the EXTrom, i was never able to get it to install after Hard Reset, I have to manually install the cabs myself, ussually I remember my pocket PC would say "Please wait until your device is configuired" , then it would install a few things. But since I have began flashing with all sorts of firmwares I cant get the extrom contents to auto-install after hard reset, so i have to manually install them myself. And you are right, I am seeing weird garbage characters already after instaling the MMS programs from the extended rom contents.
But I do remember the first time i went to WM 2003 SE, which was a few years ago, I got the ROM from the offical o2 xda website, and it was perfect. But thats not longer available.
As for WM2003SE, I always thought it was an upgrade to 2003, I thought that SE (Second Edition) should be more stable.
I might just flash to WM2003, not second edition, do you know where I could find the ROM + Extended Rom contents for it ?
yeah it's 2th eddition
but wm is not more stable then the drivers and 3th party stuff
the rom have in them
also heard about a wwe 2003SE but never confirmed that it was around
maybe if you google deep and long enough you can find it
about official 2003 roms for himalaya then first place i would look would be
the ftp of this site they may still be there
2th would be around at buzzdev
3th would be on the sites or ftp's of o2 / tmobile/ imate and the likes
4th would be googling around
Ah the problem is the XDA Developers ftp site is not working. I looked over at buzzdev and they have no WM2003 Roms for the Himalaya, only WM2003 SE
Ok from XDA Developers ftp I find the following :
1.60.36 T-Mobile_NL_Shipped
Himalaya_T-Mobile_NL_1.72.903_eDsuBsofT
Himalaya_T-Mobile_NL_1.72.90_Shipped
Himalaya_T-Mobile_NL_1.75.903_eDsuBsofT
Qtekk_1.75_Converted
I believe they are all WM2003 (not se)
Which one to use?

Need some help and infos for upgrading my Xda trion (Hermes) HERM100

Hi folks,
at first, sorry for my - maybe - bad english.
I hope to get some question answered and some informations about my Hermes device. Also, hopefully a was right to open a new thread and get some help from you all.
I searched the board for a ROM, cuz my cam doesn't run anymore. The cam used to work good, but now it does not open, I made some hard resets, cuz of the error message (Error on opening the Link or finding(?) the file). The first hard reset solved the problem, but now the cam again doesn't work.
I've tried different things and searched a little bit, got on this page and now i'm thinking about flashing my device to WM6...
Well... my first question is about the Hermes device. I read about several Model-No (not sure if this is the right word) like HERM100 and HERM200... Could anyone tell me the difference between them!?
The 2nd question is about my problem i described some lines above this question. Is this problem known, are there some guides how to fix it?
My 3rd question is about the flashing process. found some details at the wiki and in some other threads.
I downloaded the tool from this thread (Free HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlocker *New* version v3a) and the german version of WM6 within this thread ([new release] WM6 ROM Kitchen for Hermes [ GER | WWE | JPN | CHT ]).
Also i've created the ROM (from the download of the last thread i mentured), which is very big i think (69.420 kb), but i never flashed a WM device.
what do i have to do with the *.nb file and how do i flash?! The wiki says that there must be an .exe file to install the *.nb file, but within the package of the 2nd site there was just the BuildOS.exe, which is used to build the *.nb file. There is no other .exe file to flash the device via pc + ActiveSync / Windows Mobile Device Center.
Hope, that i get some help from you guys soon.
darius_raven
Moved you over to General since this isn't a rom dev topic.
well... nearly one week is gone, but no one could answer me... thats not very helpful.
At least my problem with the Hermes Cam is solved. Don't know exactly why. did several soft resets and nothing happened, also several hard resets couldn't solve the problem.
When I shut down the device on friday and started it again, cam works fine...
