BMW X3 with BMW BlueTooth+JasJar? (or any other BMW with BT) - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I was wondering if anybody here had the same combination and wanted to share the experiences.
My only problem is that the steering wheel button that is used to make, answer and end a call doesn’t support the press and hold option for activating the voice dial.
Wanted to know whether there is workaround for this.
Thnx

being an off-road vehicle, have you found a good solid holder for the universal for when you are on steep inclines or bumpy fields?

I also have a problem with getting the voice dial to work on my 320d (new E90 shape).
I have not been able to synchronise my phonebook from my JASJAR to my car. Do I need to copy the entries to my SIM to get that to work?
Thanks

I tried copying the entries to my SIM card but it didn’t result with syncing phonebook with the car.
About voice dial on the steering wheel, well, what is puzzling me is the fact that the button works perfectly as VOICE DIAL/CONNECT/DISCONNECT/REDIAL button on most of the Nokias that I tried to pair with BMW. :x
I am using Nokia’s BT headset HDW-3 with my JJ and it has only one button for operating the phone with different PRESS/PRESS&HOLD/DOUBLE PRESS combinations and it initiates the voice dial without any problems with PRESS&HOLD.
I repeat the button on steering wheel is behaving like that with Nokia telephones (the same thing PRESS&HOLD) but with not with JJ. It just redials or disconnects active conversation. :?
Is it the same on yours?
Lets invite others to share experience with other cars… although BMW BT is very challenging for every mobile phone, it is very unfriendly…

I have not tried it with other phones, but it behaves the same way with my JJ. I started thinking it was because I'm blonde...

Update: (maybe it will be useful to someone)
After updating JJ with latest i-mate ROM the cars BT is able to read the phonebook from JJ. It can read both from the SIM card as well as from telephone memory.
Unfortunately, the issue with voice dial button persists...

I am also having trouble using my BT headset to voice dial (not car related).

The same thing here and it is definitely the problem of new ROM. Before that my headset speed dialing from my Jabra 800 was flawless...
You win some, you lose some with Win mobile updates...

I have simialr issue with my Audi A4 with in built BT device, the voice dial is particularly sh1t, and activates at the end of voice calls
Tried a number of different ROMs and the experience is the same :x

still, some phones do work, but dont allow phone book transfer to the car...others dont work at all....
and incase anyone was wondering, BMW's do not support bluetooth stereo...so we cant beam music from the phone to the car
please ask any questions...i will try and answer them.

Bluetooth car kit and voice dialling question

Does anyone here use their MS Mobile 2003 “smart” phone with a Bluetooth car kit?
I wonder if you can help me…
With my old Nokia phone, it used to activate the connection to the car kit when I turned on the engine.
However, on the MDA Compact, I have to go to Bluetooth, select the car kit, and select “Set as Hands-free” every time I get into the car, witch is rather annoying.
Does anyone know how to make this automatic? Is there a third party utility perhaps that would monitor the availability of the car kit every so often, and connect to it automatically when it is available?
And another question, does anyone know of a good utility for voice dialling?
I tried Microsoft Voice Command 1.5, it is alright, more or less (apart from awful recognition of spoken numbers, even if spoken by upper class English people) it does recognise the contact names, witch is all that I need - however, I cannot get it to react when I press the action button on the car kit.
I still have to take the phone out of my briefcase, and hold it in my hand, witch is illegal whilst driving.
My dream application, would be something basic, that I can train for certain contacts that I call regularly (like with my old nokia phone, which appeal glows by the minute) – as this way, thick eastern European accents do not matter ;-)
Thanks in advance for any pointers!
I have the MDA Compact Working with the CK7W form Nokia.
Works good exept the voice dailing, You can thakeand disconnect a call with the remote controle.
But do you have to manualy connect to the car kit every time you get into the car?
Once it is connected, I can accept and end calls using the action button. so that is not a problem
No just hold the center button of the remote for 2 seconds, than it will connetct again

Hold on a minute, I have the same Nokia car kit, and my Compact when connected suffers badly with reported echoes at their end, not mine.
Do you have this problem?
I was to believe that this was a common problem not resolved yet!
Mike.
I'm gonna test this tomorrow in my shop, I will place a list with phones(other than Nokia) that will work with the CK7W[/quote]
My car kit is CK-1W
I am generaly happy with it, apart from the fact that on the MDA I have to manualy connect every time I get into the car.
I used it with many different phones, and it works fine.
so I think that it is the bluetooth manager of the MDA that is to blame.
my compaq Ipaw bluetooth manager was the best!
but this one, I cannot even get the activesync to work...
For the manual connect you have 2 blame the BT manager in w2003se.
I have good results with:
Nokia CK7W:
Qtek 9090
Qtek S100
Sony Ericsson P910(I)
Sony Ericsson P700i
Samsung D500
HP6340
Are there alternative bluetooth managers?
or a reg. hack I can implement?
thanks
Hmmm, I Don't know...Anyone?
Apparently not…
I had the same problems with my mr handsfree genius car kit, and i thought it was the fault of the car kit.
Just upgrade your rom to 1.06 and all your problems will disappear most likely.
Which rom do you have?
Andre
I have an old ROM.
however, all my atempts at upgrading it failed.
my device ID is something like TMOB-005, not 001
cracked update exe file did not help, running the scripts to modify the ROM files did not help...
in the end I felt inept, and gave up ;-)

GPS & BT Headset - Yes You Can Can Use Both At The Same

This is more FYI others.... when I started looking at new phones some times ago to intergrate in to my car system getting one that was able to do BT headset and com port at the same time was important - and in fact to my knowllage the IJam was the first.
Any way as it seems no ones broached the subject and at the time I would have killed for this info I'm please to say I have tried both my BT carkit and GPS with Tomtom at the same time and it works... I'm currious if I can get 3 concurent connections now
Any way - probably no biggy for most here - its just my was of helping any newbie that comes along searching for this info... like I did once.

Hi Terran,
Out of interest, which BT car kit have you got? I've got to replace two Nokia kits now we've got the 9100's. I've looked at the parrot kits, but am using voice commander and would like a kit that works as well as my Scala bt headset.

The Parrot CK3000 - Had it since it came out and never looked back. Used to cost me ( cos no company even my current one which expects me to travel has ever give me a car kit ) a fortune before BT having to upgrade to specific kits... and they where a pain to install.
Parrot - Can't fault em - but my only tip is buy the upgrade cables... I've upgraded mine several times and it has helped depending on the issue.... for example..
I've not upgraded it this time how ever the other half found the quality of sound from me ( ie in the car ) better than with my T610...
Hope that helps - PS if you want GPS some of the higer models have it built in.
Terran
PPS Any one with a basic under standing of plug socket a in to socket b can do the install in about 10 mins or so.... the worst part is getting the radio out.
Thanks for the reply Terran.
My only concern (aside from the Parrot compatibility, which you've cleared) is that with two 6310i's, if my personal phone rang, I could ping the work one out of the kit and plug in my own within a couple of seconds. I can't find a way to disconnect the 9100 from my BT headset (which operated in hands-free mode too).I asked here, and after 70 views, there have been no replies... I don't know if there's a quick way on the Parrot kit, and if so, how fast I could "connect" the other handset, or, if I'd have to have two kits, one for each phone...

If you have a CK3000 then this thred ( especially post #20 ) is worth noting...

Dear Sir,
Thanks for visiting our forum.
Concerning your request, with the K750and W800 it's not possble to use the phone's voice recognition system
with the CK3000. This issue to the phone software and unfortunately only Sony Ericssson can make some improvments
on it.
However with the CK3000 evolution, you have the possibility to send contacts from the mobile phone to the car kit.
Thanks to this function, you can use the car kit voice recognition system and no more the phone voice recognition system : we are no more depend on the mobile phone. The knob of the evolution's remote control allows you to select this function by spoken menus. It's the same way like for the CK3100 however instead of a graphic indications you have voice prompts. This function was not possible with with the CK3000.
To change your CK3000 into a CK3000 evolution. You just need to change the car kit software and to change the buttons.
However the software update have to be done using a Parrot Serial cable or by Bluetooth using a Parrot Flash Kit.
That's why we ask to send us the unit.
If you have the buttons and a way to make the update , the transformation into a CK3000 evolution is possible.
However for technical reasons, please send us before an email to our technical support : [email protected] .
Some situations can cause bad issues and it will be wise to check with us if the transformation is possible.
Please note : Before to make the software update, please erase the car kit memory. You just need to press the green and red button of the car kit at the same time: you will hear MEMORY ERASING PLEASE WAIT and then your can release the buttons. Once you hear PLEASE PAIR DEVICE, the car kit is OK for the update.
Best Regards

Qtek S200 ==> Pioneer DEH-P70BT

Recently bought this carstereo, as it got bluetooth buildt in. The combination with S200 works allmost excelent, but for two things.
What it does: It works well as a handsfree set, it mutes the sound, shows the number in the display, and the remote control either accept or reject the call. What it does'nt do (and the manual warns about this, I was aware of this before I bought it): It won't sync the phonebook. Either can I beam single contacts.
Anyone here tried this combination and had better luck than me? Any good advice?
HPN
I have the JAMin with this head unit. Exactly the same experience as you. I also have two other things I'd like to change or find a solution for:
1. Although auto-connect is on, I have to connect manually (the manual warns of this). I wonder if there's some way of automating this or at least making it one click form either the pda or the head unit.
2. Pressing and holding 'band' triggers VoiceCommander on my PDA but I can't give commands. It seems that the audio form the car's mic is not fed through to the pda. Any ideas?
Regards
I have the same problems and i don't find any solution
Anyone have any luck resolving these problems? I'm looking into a Pioneer DEH-9800bt and want to transfer my phonebook, as well as use voice commander.
Using Jetware you'll solve all your probs.

which handsfree for Raphael?

Hi there,
I am going to buy a new car (well, a used one, but new for me) and I am looking for a good reliable handsfree which is known to work with a raphael.
What I want is: Phonebook synchronization (SIM + internal phonebook), voice dialling (i.e. you say the name of a contact in the phonebook. I don't need to be able to call an unknown number which is not in my phonebook by voice).
Radio muting.
I found some parrot devices (like mki9100), but some people had problems with parrot's handsfrees and windows mobile devices...
Does anyone own a handsfree which he can recommend?
What car do you own?
Yes parrott can have issues with WM devices, but it is very rare, i personally have never had a problem with the combination. Try and find out if your car manufacturer has a factory unit. I have an Audi and the TP works very well with all features.
Hope it helps
It will be a Volkswagen Golf V - Volkswagen has two handsfrees but the better of them costs about 900 EUR with installation/mounting because it is best inserted when the car is assembled... And it demands rSAP which causes problems with some HTC devices...

rSAP works perfectly with the TP.
Parrot ck3100 works perfect with my pro!
It's good news that rsap works well with the device - maybe I can get the better VW handsfree installed for cheap when I buy the car...
For the Parrot ck3100 I have a question... In my old car I had a Parrot Rhythm'n'blue car radio with BT handsfree. The problem with the raphael was, when I have a contact John Doe who has a home and a mobile number, the handsfree would display two separate contacts for this:
John Doe / H
John Doe / M
Before this was one contact with multiple numbers which could be chosen by saying "private" or "mobile".
Is this still an issue with the ck3100?
I would recommend using the 3200LS it's colour, and you can specify what number you want by saying "Home, Mobile etc"
And you can store the picture of the person in the kit also

mmh actually it's a bit too big for me - I was thinking of something smaller and more subtle like the Mki 9100 (http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-free-car-kits/parrot-mki9100) or (but this would be more expensive) the FISCON (http://www.fiscon-mobile.eu/) which is possible with my car as it will have a touchscreen radio which will be used for displaying the address book etc.
I have an HP Ipaq 310 that has all of these and works great. It is also a navigation unit running IGO.

Bluetooth Car Connection

I have a problem where my HD2 does not work properly with my Land Rover Freelander 2 in-built bluetooth car kit.
The HD2 pairs with the car and I can search my phone book, see my last dialled number, I can even dial a number, BUT, the phone does not connect properly - the car radio should cut out and phone audio come through the car speakers, but instead the radio just continues to play. And shortly after the call is connected to the other party the line is terminated.
My Nokia phone works perfectly with my car, but this phone does not. Even my Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 did not for properly with the Freelander 2.
I did manage to make one successful call, but after I stopped and restarted the car, the problem returned!! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
So, does any one know of a fix? Surely hands free/car kit is a standard?
Help!
same problem here. i have a bluetooth car stereo. Always worked fine with my previous HTC's. But now with the HD2 i get the exact same problems as you... I think it's software bug. i have rom version 1.43.404.1 NLD
i hope this gets sorted out cause i use bluetooth audio streaming a lot in the car....same for handsfree calling
Paired it with my Pioneer FH-P80BT on my way to sell my 3GS and recieved a call. Got the same issue as described above - just a bug i presume.
I'm experiancing similar problems. All works fine (incoming call's or outgoing call's) but they get disconnected randomly it seems. I'm using a JVX NX7000 by the way. No problem with my iPhone. Hope they fix it soon!
I tested it with my BMW Idrive last night which is notoriously difficult and it worked fine, I was really surprised tbh! But was able to recieve and make calls, the stereo cut out and could see the phone book too. With my N82 i was only ever able to make/receive calls.
Same problem - Jaguar XF - it docks ok but I have to initiate calls from car (vs phone). Just some weirdness going on...

Mercedes brutality
I have a new Mercedes C, and when the HD2 is connected over bluetooth I get an extremely loud, strange ringtone when receiving a call. It is so loud it could really make your shoes go off.
Also it is none of the ringtones available to choose from, inside the phone - it sounds more like a BIOS beep from a PC and hits me while the normal ringtone is playing as well.
It definitely comes from the phone, not from the car stereo. I have not figured out how to resolve this, I think it is outright dangerous for unprepared drivers.
I have a Nissan Pathfinder; it paired ok, and dials from the Pathy without probs. Ringtone is ok too. Sound quality seems better than my old Tytn so all in all v happy.
Doesn't stream music, but that's Nissan's fault, not HTC.
Works fine with the Ford BT system in the Ford Focus (2009).
HTC HD2 Pairing with a Freelander 2 - SUCESS!!!
Success!!!
So far so good, I applied a known change to the HD2 registry and I am now making and answering calls without fuss!
Change Registry setting:

Add the DWORD setting COD=5374476
This makes devices see the HD2 as a 'Normal' phone.
Hope this helps everyone.

Interesting, I have a similar problem with my 2009 BMW 3 I explain here (sorry I posted before discovering this thread) and I'll try your registry tweak.
But you say that it is "a known change" to the HD2, could you tell us where you saw it ? Is there another discussion about the BT stack somewhere or more generaly about the Widcomm implementation in the HD2 ?
The HD2 being so recent and in short supply, I'm a bit surprised something like that is "well known"
Thanks for your help.
It works !
graemenwallace, I just tried after applying your tweak and... OMG, this is AWSOME man, it just WORKS !
I still just have one gripe though, it seems that the car doesn't always receive the RF level correctly at the first connection. Sometimes it sees the phone as having no carrier at all (no bars in the RX level display), preventing the car to make any calls, but as soon as I receive a call, the level resets to full bars and I can pick the call and make calls myself after that.
When the first call comes in, I can see the display with no bars and a "?" appearing on top of it for a short time before it becomes full bars.
So there is still some compatibility problems, but at least now I can pick-up incoming calls without risking my life.
So I suppose you are a potential life saver then
Thanks mate,
Yves.
Bluetooth is working YES with JVC KD-AVX44 ADV49
After the registry tweak from graemenwallace the bluetooth connection is working properly with my car radio (JVC KD-AVX44/KD-ADV49).
The phone functions ok now (incoming & outgoing calls) Also the AD2P connection is super (very good sound)
Also the ID3 tags are functioning (didn't function with the X1 Xperia)
I see the track title now into the JVC display
Skipping etc. all is functioning. I will tell HTC about it because I have a ticket running for this issue. I think they have to solve this issue
Big thanks for this trick
By doing a little search on the net, it seems like graemenwallace suggested that this problem is not new with smartphones that identify themselves as such.
The tweak above forces the BT stack of the phone to identify itself as a standard phone instead of a smartphone.
What's puzzling is that my BMW handsfree worked with other smartphones so far, including the iphone.
Anyway, it's ok now, but I wonder what bad press this will cause to HTC.
The majority of the users are unaware of this kind of wizardry and this justs adds up to the long list of bugs of the HD2.
When I first got the phone a few days ago I was rapidly convinced to return it immediatly as it's fancy interface wasn't enough to overcome all the shortcomings. It was plain unusable as a business phone.
Now after applying most of the tweaks, it begins to show potential, but HTC really has to work on the problems we can't fix by tweaking the registry.
I tried this also, but for me it didn't work.
But my situation is a bit different, as I am not able to connect the HD2 through the Sim Access Profile with my car, which is an Audi A6 mit Bluetooth preparation and I have also the Audi rSAP Adaptor installed in the centre arm rest.
My problem is, that I get a connection to the car, but SAP does not activate and I can't get access to my phonebook - so I only have kind of a handsfree profile...
Am I right that you all use the handsfree profile in your cars and no SAP?

Does your Ford system have the Bluetooth audio choice?
I get my Ford Focus changed every six months coz i'm a driving instructor and it comes as part of the deal.
On my last Ford Focus my htc tytn 2 connected ok and I could make and receive calls ok.
However, when the new car was delivered the Ford system had bluetooth audio choice and ipod integration which the other one didn't.
Now my htc tytn 2 didn't connect very well at all.
Now with my HD2 it does connect only if I have the bluetooth audio profile selected.
But now the music player keeps appearing and wants to play music all the time. If I pause the music on the phone it just starts replaying.
Anyway I will try the registry tweak in this thread and hopefully that will solve the problem.
Paul.

I have the same problem. I`ll try to pair my HD2 with MB C-klass using SAP but i can`t get them connected it seems like a SAP adaptor can`t activate a PIN input window on HD2 (i guess). With other phones it works perfect (tryed with Nokia 5800, 6500).

My problem is, that I get a connection to the car, but SAP does not activate and I can't get access to my phonebook - so I only have kind of a handsfree profile...
Am I right that you all use the handsfree profile in your cars and no SAP?

I feel your pain, my wife has a GolfPlus and the rSAP instalation is crap.
It's overly expensive and useless if you don't have one of the few phones compatible with it.
Unfortunately, many customers are falling in this trap, thinking it is a standard handsfree, but it is not, it is a full GSM build-in which only access your phone SIM card to log into the network and download your contacts.
In the case of my wife, the dealer was honest and clearly stated that it was a mistake to order this option.
The only problem is that he had no other alternative than proposing an Parrot retrofit which wasn't really an option for me as it wasn't integrated in the car and certainly not in the navigation system.
But internet is your friend and the solution is quite simple, the Kufatec kit.
This is brilliant, it is a small box that connects to the CAN bus of many german cars and integrates perfectly into existing navigators, it uses the steering wheels command buttons and so on.
It is much better (more functions) than original BT options, is tailored to each brand so that the displays are in the same style as the original ones etc.
More interesting, it is field upgradable (just a laptop with BT) so that it is potentialy compatible with anything existing or not yet.
And it only costs a fraction of this crappy rSAP option.
In your case, the good news is that it can simply replace your actual rSAP kit for a minimal installation fee. (the CAN bus has to be reprogramed however, so professional instalation needed)
There is another solution: to replace the unit you have (it is situated under the driver's seat) by a skoda unit. This unit has the same connector but is simple handsfree instead of rSAP.
Hope this helps.
