Stereo Bluetooth Headset - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Can anyone help.
I have the HP Bluetooth Stereo Headset and I assume that I need to have the Widcomm/Broadcomm stack to use it.
I have used it with the Xda IIi and Xda 2S and it worked fine(with the appropriate patch)
I have since tried it unsuccessfully with both the Universal and the Wizard.
I know these devices are running Windows Mobile 5 and I guess this is the reason.
Is there any patch available to make the headset work
Thanks for any help

Hi there,
I think everyone WISHES they could give you an answer on that one...
Apparently, Windows Mobile 5 has the Microsoft BT stack instead of the excellent WIDCOMM stack... the MS stack does NOT include A2DP.
Apparently, there will be a patch for it from Microsoft by the end of the year... but who knows if that's true...
By the way, there are a LOT of topics on this... try a search next time to reduce duplicate posts... thanks !

there is a hardware difference between the HTC universal and Wizard with regards to the Bluetooth stacks they have. Apparently in the Universal it is 1.2 and doesn't support Stereo (forgot the actual mode name); whilst the Wizard is (I think)Stack 2.0 - but in any case -DOES support Bt stereo - so u should be able to enable it somehow on the K-Jam. now as to how to actually achieve that....

Stero Headset is not functionally?
Are You sure? I've buyng Motorola HT820, AND iT WORK PERFECTLY, with phone and MP10, with and without cable, with and without Bluetooth.

Bluetooth Stack revisited

Now that we're likely to get a working solution for our Bluetooth worries thanks to TOWA it seems sensible to revisit the BT-stack implementation on the XDA II. I spent some time working through the Microsoft documentation to come up with this assessment.
All previous PDA's have used the Widcomm stack, which supports a multitude of BT-profiles,specifically the Serial Port Protocol, which it emulates as a COM-port. Unfortunately, the Widcomm stack does not support the Headset service, which is required for the phone. This is why the installation of the Widcomm stack on the XDA eventually failed -just couldn't support the headset.
The Microsoft stack actualy also supports the serial port profile, but uses a different implementation. Their BT-stack is socket based and aligned very close to the IRDA-implementation we all know from our PC's. Just as the PC generally requires that famous "IRCOM"-applet, so does the Microsoft BT-stack (this is basically what TOWA is working on).
The Microsoft Bluetooth stack is actually very flexible, which gives us hope of seeing the XDA II support more and more Bluetooth functions as time goes along.
But why did MS not implement the COM port? If it takes TOWA a week to do the job with limited resources, why couldn't MS have done the same? And if the MS Stack is flexible, why do they leave out functions when they release it?
I'm sure MS could have done it, but the they didn't do it for IRDA either.
I think they are trying to push their implementation architecture upon us.

I would like to take this oppertunity to thank Towa for the great job he did with the TOM TOM gps bt issue. I will be getting my imate(xda2...) ppc soon, and I have the following questions, as I am quite a novus:
1. does the gps doohicky that Towa wrote enable the xda2 to work with the bt headset as a handsfree profile, since the xda2 only supports headset profile? or is it only to create a port so the tom tom can find it and work with it?.
2. If no to question 1, then I would like to share my expieriance with bt headsets, which I cannot understand untill this day and may be you can help?. I currently use a Nokia 6310 and previously was using it with the Ericsson hbh-20. Since, the Nokia phone did not suport voice activation or reject a call from the headset, I could only voice dial through the headset after I pushed a button on the 6310. So I thought, no biggie it was Nokia's fault since I successfuly voice dailed when paired to my friends t 68. Then I tried my 6310 with my other friends hbh-30 bt carkit, and wouldn't you know that the voice activation from the bt carkit's button worked like a charm (stumped. who to blame know, we always need someone to blame.) So, after that my third friend bought me the new Nokia clip-on bt headset, it works as a complete handsfree headset with my old Nokia 6310, rejecting, auto answer, voice dialing ... all from the headset. So, my question is do I have too many freinds? (just kidding), how do you expect the xda2 and the new Nokia clip on headset to communicate with each other?. In headset profile or handsfree profile?.
3. If your answer to question 2, is headset profile, then will we have to beg the "Great One" also known as "The Man" (as qouted earlier on gps bt forum of this site" Mr.TOWA himself, to write us another doohiky to make them work in handsfree profile.
p.s. In my opinion, anyone who has downloaded Towa's doohiky for gps and had a positive result, should donnate something for this hard worker.
Thank you, and sorry for being so boring.[/quote]
TOWA's great app only fixes the serial port issue, by basically establishing a permanent virtual com-port using the functionality built into the Microsoft BT-stack.
Unfortunately, inmplementing a Handsfree profile will be much more complex, so don't expect a quick fix on that. I'm sure HTC and Microsoft are working on it, but I wouldn't expect a fix this year.
Regarding your BT-observations, it seems that the implementation of the profiles on each device is different and probably none of them are really complete.
I think the Bluetooth Org will have to do something to improve its performance and compatibility testing!
Thank you for your kind reply.
Whenever I receive a call, it is automatically transferred to my SE BTH-60 headset, so I am using it handsfree mode actually. I can accept/reject the call thru the headset.

Handsfree profile lets you use the automatic feature, which automaticaly accepts and answers (after a you specify the number of rings) the call without pressing any button on the bt headset.
Also, the handsfree profile lets you use the voice dial feature by activating it from the bt headset and without touching the mobile phone. and other features...
Does, anyone have any expirence with new nokia clip-on bt headset and the xda2.
Thanks

Sirs, I believe the time has come for me to beg the great one "TOWA" to write us a new doohicky, to make the xda 2 work in handsfree profile with handsfree bt headsets and others.
So, Towa, if your reading, have you ever had someone to beg you for something in writing??

Bluetooth car kit

Hi chaps,
Ive got a brand new XDA2 2 weeks ago and I bought a Bluetooth GPS receiver from these guys:
http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI...ex_gensales&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50
Works perfectly without patching, hotwiring or standing on my head - NICE 1!
My question is, can anyone recommend an incar bluetooth handsfree kit rather than headset that works with the xda2???
And is it true that I can run 2 bluetooth devices at the same time if I patch my xda with the now world famous bluetooth patch featured on this forum?
Thanks guys...
Darren
I am running tomtom 2 with the 2.09 gps driver and also a bluetooth headset at the same time without any patch.
ahhhhhh....
so you *can* run more than one device now *without* patching hhhmmmm.... ahhhh... cool, what model is your headset? I really want a bluetooth car kit which detects the phone and takes control when i get into the car but it'll be good to know a headset that definatly works.
Thanks man
I have a sony-ericsson hbh-200 which works ok but only for answering the phone, also it needed rebonding many times. I am now using a Skypower EZ232 ez clip which works the same but re-connects after going out of range, I am as I type, linked via activesync over bluetooth to my pc, I have internet working on the xda2, my bluetooth headset is also working and I also have tomtom2 working using gpsmart gps bluetooth receiver, so more than one device is definitely ok without any patches.
top BT Carkit: Parrot CK2000 or later
I use these fix built in BT-carkit. it makes a good word with the htcII
nice one
Thanks guys.......
Darren
Nokia CK 1-W doesn't work
I've tried the Nokia CK 1-W carkit, but this carkit doesn't work properly with the MDA II. Nokia only supports the handsfree profile and the MDA II is only supporting the headset profile.
The headset profile has got less features than the handsfree profile. I know that Sony Ericsson and Parrot supports both profiles. When you want to have supported all handsfree features by your carkit you need the handsfree profile!
Does anybody knows an update to fix this problem?

HP BT stereo headphones with XDAII

Does anyone tried to connect the XDAII with the new HP BT stereo heaphones with XDAII?
I have this HP device but can not install it.
Bummer..
Widcomm BT Stack on XDAII...
HP BT stereo headphones does work with XDAII (myself and few friends have been using it for a while now). You will need to install Widcomm BT stack (1.0.0.3500 or 1.5.0.2000, or the one that have High Quality Audio Profile) though.
However, you will loose Bluetooth Headset profile if you install Widcomm BT Stack. Apparently BT headset does not work with Widcomm stack on XDAII yet. I've managed to get the headset detects incoming calls, take calls, but still no sound coming out from the headset yet. Still trying...
Interesting. Will check it out and reply.
This is my experience using a HP bluetooth stereo headphone bonded with an O2 xdaII. I use Wincom 1.5 Build 2000 from "dtktvu". So far the setup has worked very well. After having used the setup for three weeks, my impression is as follows:
1. Connection with headset is very stable
2. Stereo sound is clear, quality is quite superb really.
3. So far this setup works only for music, it does not work together with bluetooth headsets (if you happen to have one). This means that you can not use your headset at all while using the headphone.
4. The only inconvenience is that if there is an incoming call during song playback, the music pauses but there is not any other audio warning. On the screen you do get a warning that there is an incoming call, though. So in my case, while I listen to music, if I hear a sudden pause then I know that there is an incoming call and act accordingly. Now, let us come to the next point....
5. You have to use Windows Media Player as the player for point 4 to happen. I am not sure how the setup will react to incoming calls with other players such as Winamp, GS Player etc..
6. Battery life is quite good. I get about 6-7 hours of playtime from the headphone.
Now, if only someone will update this Wincom Driver further so that it can work together with bluetooth headsets, then we will have the best of both worlds... Maybe donations from potential users to provide incentive to some expert out there.

Widcom on XDA II without Windows Mobile SE?
I would also like to use the HP bluetooth headset. I have a XDA II (not IIs). Will the Widdcom stack install on this? I am currently not running Windows Mobile SE.
Many thanks.

Try MS VoiceCommand - in new 1.5 version there is incoming call voice notyfication (normal ring goes at half of the sound level and voice engine reads callers ID) maybe it will go through UR headset.

Thanks for the pointer, didn't work though.
Would welcome any other ideas.
Will this work on XdA2JoJo.v3.2zS version that has broadcom 3900? I'm planning in getting one.

HP BT stereo headphones with XDAIIi
Hi,
I've read the thread but cannot see any indication of someone using an XDA IIi and the HP BT stereo headphones. Anyone know anything about this particular combination? So far I know the software that comes with the HP BT stereo headphones will not install on the XDA. And without the BT high quality audio profile installed I cannot get past pairing the devices. Any ideas?
Thanks,
R

I am using this combination.
I have HP iPaq BT stereo headset and O2 XDA IIi.
Just did the following.
0 Full backup!
1 Uninstall a GPS software that was using BT Serial Port (GPS tuner, OziExplorer, Russa)
2 Uninstall BT Tools
3 Remove all paired devices
4 Soft reset
6 Install Attached file (warning: with this patch you will not be able to use a HandsFree BT, so if you do not really mind, then continue).
7 Soft Reset
8 In BT manager Find HP Headphones and pair them with password "0000"
9 Start Player and press a cental button on headphones.
10 Then I installed back GPS software and BT Tools.
11 Check thet everithing works fine, make a full backup.

I have three stereo bluetooth headsets here for testing purposes:
- Logitech Wireless Bluetooth MP3 Headphones for PC (aka Hewlett Packard FA303 or Toshiba PA1831)
- Motorola HT820
- iTech Blueband
I have tested them on my Qtek 9090 (BlueAngel) and they all worked fine. There is not much diffrence in audi quality, the diffrence is more in the comfort of wearing them. Most of my collegues liked the Motorola the most but I prefer the Logitech. The iTech feels a little bit cheap...
More experience and info about stereo bluetooth headset is posted on http://www.robertwebbe.nl/A2DP.html.
Has anyone connected headphones with XDAII? i can't at all( after installing broadcom 1.5 phone cannot call correctly, i can't hear anything(
I have a iMate PDA2k EVDO & iTech BlueBAND headpones. I was able to use use the BT headset to use the phone however as the Broadcom 3500 stack didn't come with a Audio profile I couldn't hear music (mp3s via WM10). I installed Broadcom 3900 stack - can now hear stereo music but the volume on the phone is so low I can bearly hear it. Otherwise my PDA is stock standard Windows 2003 WWE etc. Any suggests? As I am a new owner, I would appreciate the help. Cheers,
Hi
I have recently received a Blue Angel from our mobile provider and it comes with the Bradcom stack 1.0.0.3900.
Does it have A2DP integrated, or I need to install anything to make it compatible? I am interested on a Motorola HT820 headset and i want to make sure it will be compatible...

Any way to listen MP3 by bluetooth handfree using mini??
Many many many thanks
Not at the moment.
The M$ stack does not support the audio gateway profile.
In fact the consensus is that the M$ stack is ****e.
There are other stacks that can be installed, bluesoil and Toshiba IIRC, but they are buggy and I dont know if they do the audio gateway profile.
let us pray that HTC see the light and release a better BT stack!
Thanks, let see anyone can break through this problem.......
Do you mean something like this :-
Media Player Headset with Bluetooth wireless technology
http://www.itechdynamic.com/html/products.htm
Yes, but I think they don't work on O2 mini, because of the microsoft BT stack...... hope some body can make the patch for this.
download bluetooth update patch for PPC, it pass test on o2 mini. for detail please check http://www.pocketpc.com.hk/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=18189
it is CHINESE web site from Hongkong.
They said it is not support on O2 mini.........
If I installed a BT dongle on a PC... it support all... including audio gateway.. I can listen mp3s via headset...
why O2 just can't do it the same way... :? since all are based on BT technology...
samsonlo, some message from that web site said: It can support O2 MINI.
I'm not sure, Maybe?
Thanks anyway, will have a try tonight.............
If O2 mini can be supported. please send some sugeestion here, thanks!
yes please keep us updated
The Hands free profile is not meant for audio streaming and i doubt that the wave output of the Magician is connected to this profile - it also isn't for the headset profile.
You need the A2DP profile, which is not included into the MS-Stack - and this has so much nothing to do with O2. It was HTCs decision to include the MS Stack into the Magician, not O2 or any other reseller. The Broadcom update is for their stack, not MS. Someone posted that some (commercial) developers are working on the A2DP profile for the Magician, which is not available yet, from what I know.
The Eten M500 (which uses the M$ Stack) has now been patched to allow Voice command over Bluetooth. People are trying to dump the rom so we can see how it has been done.
There is a threrad running on HoFo

This update is for the Widcomm stack. Not the MS stack that the JAM uses. It will NOT work on the JAM...it would be nice, but it doesn't.

Hey, that's my bluetooth headset, I-Tech Stereo Headset. It does work fine with the Magician with the headset profile. But since there is no support from MS Stack for A2DP, there is no way to listen to Media Player on it.
I do use it with my PC bluetooth dongle v1.2 (with Bluesoleil stack) with the A2DP.

HT820 Wireless Stereo Problems

I have an O2 XDA Mini S (Wizard) and have just purchased a pair of Motorola HT820 Bluetooth headphones. I have paired the two; however, I only get the Hands Free service (which works) but NO Wireless Audio. I have seen a lot about A2DP Hacks to get these devices working correctly, but shouldn’t the BT headset offer a wireless stereo/high quality/A2DP profile when you pair them?
Is the ASDP Hack the only way to get Wireless Stereo?
Any help with this problem would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Harold Clements
You have not provided enough information for anyone to help you.
Some Roms have A2DP working without any hack.
To be truthful, I know very little about what I am trying to do. All I know is that I can’t get the music side of the Motorola headset working.
As I said in my previous post: I have an O2 XDA Mini S (Wizard) and have just purchased a pair of Motorola HT820 Bluetooth headphones. The two paired but I only get the Hands Free service but NO Wireless Audio. I clicked on Motorola HT820 and then went ‘Refresh’ and up popped ‘Headset’ so I ticked that and saved. I then clicked (and held) on Motorola HT820. The options that I get are Edit – Delete – Set as Hands Free. I think I should also have ‘Set as Wireless Stereo’ but I don’t.
I have read about the ‘hacks’ (zoad2p.cab, Tornado asdp, AKU2.6) but I am a) unsure if this is a solution to my problem, and b) what a hack is and why is it needed?
I just really want to know how to fix my problem.
Thanks for your help,
Harold Clements
Would you be willing to try a cab that i made? I dont have a wizard to test on and you seem to have the perfect requirements in which i need to test. If you are willing to try this cab would you please PM me your email address???
This cab is a variation of the zoA2DP and an idle thread process (which works great on the hermes)
Also you will need A2DP to listen to wireless Bluetooth stereo... most provider roms do not have this feature, most cooked roms do..
Also, in addition to the MS BT stack, you'll want to give a try to the Widcomm BT stack. With eit has its share of problems, it delivers much superior sound quality compared to the MS BT stack and its CPU usage is less that that of the MS stack.
Thanks very much for your replies guys. The thing is I am new to this and I don’t really understand.
Correct me if I am wrong but if the Motorola HT820 Bluetooth headphones are compatible with my mobile device (as documented) then surly it should work without much hardship?
