is there a program other than outlook that can handle cont - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

that can handle contacts?

do you mean
1 on the pda ?
2 on the pc
3 that can also sync with the pda
i think activesync only sync with outlook
but there are other sync programs which sync with
a great number of other mail programs and the likes

on the pc to edit the contacts.
what are these programs?

i think most mail programs have a kinda of contact
lotus notes, androa or what ever it's called
and windows have some program itself
it's just a matter of sync'ing between them and the pocketpc
try doing a search for them
or for intellisync or something like that

Not all calendar entries are synchronized

Hi,
I use Lotus Notes at work and synchronize my SPV 200 phone using Mnotes and activesync. I used to sync everything to my laptop at home, so all my information ended up in Outlook 2003.
Now I want to sync my home laptop (Outlook 2003) to my new MDA Pro. It syncs all tasks, contacts and e-mail correctly. But it doesn't sync the calendar items which are originally are created in Lotus Notes. The one which are created in Outlook 2003 or in my SPV 200 sync fine. These calendar items do appear in Outlook 2003. I can't see anything strange with these entries (i exported them to MS Excel). After exporting and re-importing from the MS Excel file they did appear in my MDA Pro. But this is very cumbersome.
Anyone familiar with this problem?
Btw, any news yet from Commontime about Mnotes and WM5?

On my old phone (Nokia) i could sync my contacts into Windows address book on my laptop. Now I've got the Vario2 and vista on my laptop the sync will only let me download my contacts into microsoft outlook- which I don't have and do not want to pay loads more money. How do i back my contacts up or get outlook free
I recently found a program called "PIM Backup". It allows you to back the data up to a file which you can then copy off.
Try looking here or off a similar thread for the download link -

Hi.
Have a similar problem
Using Outlook Express for Email and instead of MS Office / Outlook we use Open Office [its free ]
Found a link to connect O.E. YET to try it, but it is ...
http://www.reunion.com/site-root/download_reunionforoutlook.jsp
Also if you know of a calendar plugin for O.E., please post it
i use Jeyo Mobile Companion, brilliant for backing up contacts, sending SMS via pc.
Its different to some others in the fact that you compile the sms as you would an email but it sends it via the phone, so no internet connection needed.
Its brill at work, save "un-cradling" then reply/send sms then cradle, its all done with a swift alt-tab. heh
Alternative to ActiveSync
I haven't (yet) tried it but there is a project called FinchSync (http://www.finchsync.com) which claims: "FinchSync is a tool for synchronizing contacts, appointments and tasks from Mozilla email and calendar products with a Pocket PC or SmartPhone."
If anyone has any hands on experience with this program I for one would be interested to hear about it...?
you could set up a mail2web account which is push email and has a outlook style web based interface allowing you to sync everything contacts, calendar and tasks Did i mention its FREE. www.mail2web.com

You're using Vista? The WMDC will let you Sync your phone with your Vista Contacts - no problem - infact you should now also be able to Sync your mail with Windows Mail and if memory serves your calendar with Windows calander - all things that with XP you had to have Outlook to do!
EDIT
Sorry - seem to have spoken to soon. The beta version of WMDC allowed for Syncing with those programs - I always use Outlook so I haven't even really looked at those settings since - it appears that it was something they supported in the Beta and dropped from the final edition which is quite unfortunate! (probably just trying to sell more copies of outlook). A free work around might be to use Microsoft Live Mail e-mail client (Not Windows Mail) and then install the windows live messenger and set it up to sync your contact details with Live Messenger and then the Live Mail client should then have a synced version of your contacts - just another idea - sorry bout that!

How to transfer Windows Contacts to Wizard?

Hello, I am using Vista Windows Mail and I have imported all my contacts to it´s address book (Windows Contacts). The problem now is how to send those contacts to the Wizard. When I syncronize it doesn´t send any of the Windows Mail / Windows COntacts to the device! help please
Install Outlook, then ActiveSync/WMDC can sync your contacts to Wizard.
Man I have never seen a worst program than Outlook! I can´t understand how it handles data...

How to copy a single reminder from MS outlook to my Palm Treo?

Hello everybody,
After i used my Activesync to synchronize from phone device to desktop, i lost my reminders from my phone but i can still find them on my desktop microsoft outlook under calendar, is it possible to copy a single reminder back to my phone and how?
Thank you very much for our help.
Have you configured the activesync to use Outlook?
What outlook are you working with?
Once you configure activesync or the Windows Mobile Device Center to work with Outlook, you go to Outlook, you can make a reminder under "tasks" or "calendar" you only have to set an alarm(date and time) for that event.
very simple.
Sorry for the grammar.
Also if you use a reminder daily, weekly or so, you can configure that, but you must set the periodicity of the event.
I am using Microsoft outlook to synchronize with my mobile, but i need to copy one of those reminders that i have on MS Outlook back to my phone calendar how to do that ?
Thank you for your answer.
i would suggest sending via bluetooth, that way you can select an appointment and then click file, send via bluetooth. otherwise, i am not sure... good luck
