XDA 2???

hello.......
i was wondering does any body know when this XDA 2 is meant to be coming out, i know it is "before christmas", but i need a more accurate date, beacuse i really want my XDA now and im not sure whether i should just get the XDA 1 now......any ideas?
also, how much will the XDA 2 be on contract? Any good ideas will be welcome...
Thanks in advanced
jay
hi there, I kind of had the same dilemma, but damn it I've got the XDA now..
My guess is that the price will be prohibitively expensive at first, and may not be on contract straight away as a result, so you could be waiting a while, there are some good deals around on the XDA now - are you UK ?
Personally I'm thinking of taking the plunge next year, but I'll be waiting until the XDA2 has been around a while like I did with this.. but then will there be something else around the corner ?
yeah...that makes sense...
i really need it now....mainly beacuse i have a lack of a mobile
i am in the uk yes.....where are the best deals then? any good websites? how much you pay for yours?
i will probably by it on contract from o2........
thanks for your help
jay
no worries mate - glad to help..
yeah same again - I needed a mobile and liked the idea of e-mail, but couldn't quite get my head around that plasticky P800.. If you can stand the ribbing from your mates at first, and get yourself one of the ROMS you have got loads of cool stuff..
As for deals, I got my for 209.99 - Although I'm sure thats going down, I price-matched at CPW from a shop in Guildford who had a deal for 235, somehow they went even lower than the price-match to my delight ! (but I have heard that o2/CPW might be dropping the XDA - making an early release on contract for the XDA2 even less likely)
I have 2 XDA's 1 is mine and I have a spare for sale it is ulocked so can be used on any network it also has the latest ROM and Radio Stack.
If you are interwsted let me know by email or post.
Regards your question I contacted O2 they said middle to late December
or early Jan It has a camera as well as Bluetooth. So I am expecting it to be very expensive.
got my XDA for £190 boxed as new was an ex display model had been dropped and had 2 dents abover the ir lens came with everything.
got it from ebay sim free about 9 months ago :\
You can get an XDA from £59.99 depending on contract from:
http://www.e2save.com/e2001/php/matrix/disphandset.php?network=O2&handset=XDA
in case people missed it

here are some new leaked xda2 pictures and some german description

Translated to english.......
got mine for £200 off ebay.. boxed and unused
hmm this XDA2 is lookin' pretty good I have to say....
If you go to ebay and search for XDA, you will find a guy selling o2 contract xda phones for £149.
I found out today that the XDA2 will be available in the UK in november there is no idea of price, thay also confirmed that bluetooth is built in and not a add-on option like the WiFi is

Where to get an XDA II in the US?

I currently have an XDA I (Siemens SX56 AT&T) and would like to get an XDA II (unlocked) as soon as they're sold by a reliable US source. FYI, I called AT&T Tech support and they said an unlocked phone should work great, just swap the SIM chip over from my XDA I.
It looked like Phone4Devs would be a good source, but they went out of business. The other sources (below) I've found are mostly overseas and pretty expensive.

http://www.mobilefly.com/product.php?productid=278
http://www.ppcw-shop.net/index.php?cPath=20
http://www.expansys.com/d_pocketpc.asp
I'm sure I'm like many of you who would like to pay less than the $850-1,000 + Unknown Custom Charges, that overseas sources are asking.
There are many versions of the HTC Himalaya phone out there (qTek 2020, O2 XDA II, i-mate XDA II). It looks like the i-mate and qTek are the best for the US. Any feedback?
Let's see if we can find a good supplier in the US !!!
Thanks.
www.expansys.us
Use this link for USA marketed iMate or O2 XDA II. Sales tax charged in Illinois only.
XDA II Prices before Shipping
Benshop - US$905
Compume - US$830
Club i-Mate - $850
4Cellular - US$990
Mobilefly - US$880
PPCW-net - US$846
Expansys.us - US$833
I converted to USD where necessary and all are BEFORE shipping. Compume (Australia) and Expansys (World-wide) seem interesting.
and how about eBay ???
has anyone considered that option to acquire a/m XDA II ???
regards,
monika
Ordered an iMat XDA2
Gave up on Expansys.us. Ordered a iMtae XDA2 unit from PPCW.net (Arne). On route, looking forward to it.
Still trying to sell my existing XDA1 though, pass the word

cshields1,
I understand what you mean because I am currently waiting on Expansys.us too. When you get your phone please let us know of your over all experience with PPCW.net and also how the warranty or technical support is handle for the phone. I understand Expansys.us will play the middle man if you have an issue with phone during your warranty period (which is good considering we are in the US).

sim free vs. unlocked xda ii

hi,
im new here and don't own an xda ii yet. a friend of mine will purchase one for me from O2 UK and have it unlocked so that i can use it at home (philippines). the question is - will there be any problems with this in terms of OS/ROM, software or usage.
what will be the advantages if i'll purchase one which is sim-free - say from singapore.
thanks
No, there will be no problem at all with upgrades.
Just buy the cheapest you can find.
All the other info you need to unlock, do ROM upgrades etc, you can find on this forum.
Grtz,
Jos
thanks jos.
i guess i'll post some more questions once i got the unit.
Thanks

Price difference between XDA II and I Mate

Currently working in Saudia Arabia, my XDA I died last week and am now looking to purchase a XDA II, one thing i've notice however is that that the I Mate is considerably cheaper than the XDA II, could someone please tell me what the reason behind this is? Secondly is there any difference between the two devices?
Cheers
PLEASE HELP
Guys a response would be tremendoulsy appreciated as I can't continue living my life without an XDA replacement
they are both 'Himalaya' devices which mean they are 100% the same hardware
of cause what software is on them can differ maybe o2 pay money for extre non std mw2003 software and thats the difference
if it's not 3th party software which cause the price diff then i have no idea
another explanation could be if the original HTC device is being manfactured in the far east zone (ex: Thailand, Singapor, ... etc) this will give the i-mate brand an advantage since there is almost no customs in Dubai, UAE ... but it's not the case if you tried to get the O2 XDA II from England or the MDA II.
For the additional s/w, let's not forget that the i-mate is arabized which should add extra value (cost)
Thanx guys.........so in essence the I Mate is not Inferior to the XDA????
Cheers

Thinking of buying

Hi all,
I currently have a xda 2, but sadly it has a few issues and ive decided to retire it, i am currently thinking of buying this phone on t-mobile
what do you people think, is it a good phone / pda or does it have problems or is this a alternative
thanks in advance everyone
Rik.
O2 XDA Mini S
I'd heartily recommend the O2 XDA Mini S, but then I would. I have a vested interest.
I can heartily recommend the device as a significant upgrade from and XDA 2 (which is what I had). There are a few performance issues (esp Activesync), but overall I am delighted.
Edited:
To be more specific. The mini has much better bluetooth - I can voice dial from the headset, the handing off of calls is much more reliable. The mini has wifi - free internet at home (yippee). The mini is small enough to cary around at the weekend not just during the week. Meaning I now use it as my one all singing all dancing phone/pda/mp3/scribble pad/sat nav/etc.
Downside is if I lose it <fingerscrossed> <touch wood> I'm f*cked. It is insured, but unless I keep using the SIM from the kitchen drawer and not my work sim, the insurance doesn't count.
Cheers, Davebo.
I just sold my dopod 838.I must say it's the best ppc phone I ve owned.
Everything is perfect except its size.
we have just signed a contract with O2 to replace our current SPVM1000's (XDA II) with MINI S's
i personally recommend getting a wizard!
hi mate
i would gladly purchase your faulty xda2 from you if you want the cash?
regards
chris
