Changing left menu button on MDA Pro to contacts - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

If I change in the registry the 112 key to "contacts" it doesn't work. If I change the registry to poutook.exe contacts, it doesn't work.
What am I missing, I use the reg tweak for changing the button from the wiki universal page:
"To change the softkeys on the Today screen
The left-hand softkey settings are at 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112', the right-hand softkey settings are at 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113'
The 'Default' string value can be changed to whatever text you wish to have displayed
The 'Open' string value can be changed to the program you wish to run when the softkey is pressed "

Solution
Ok, I worked it out.
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Contacts\Contacts.lnk does the trick.
It's a bit long, but I cannot find the correct direct app link. Anyway it works like this.......

8125 Left Softkey Changed Itself.

Hi there I have a really weird problem, the left softkey on my 8125 changed itself last night while I slept. It is now "Phone" instead of "Calender". I liked it as Calender and I find it useless to have it as Phone when the phone key below it does the same thing. I went into HKCU/software/windows/today and there is no keys option to change. I don't get it. Anyone know a solution? I want my Calender button back.
With your registry editor - goto the today key you mention - create new key 'keys', in keys create new key '112'. Then create 2 new string values in the 112 key. 'Default' with value 'menu' and 'Open' with value ''windows\calendar.exe'' then turn off device with power off key (saves registry values) then power on. (Soft reset often does not save values)

Click to collapse
Thank you so much that did the trick, I was just having a hard time wraping my head around it. I just wish I could figure out why it changed itself in the first place.

HTC Herald (P4350) How to change the left and right softkeys ?

Hello,
how can i change the left or right softkeys from the HTC Herald ?
With PHM Registry Editor i found:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112
I changed the string "open" value data from "\Windows\calendar.exe" to "\Windows\poutlook.exe" and the string "default" value data Calendar to E-Mail.
After this settings on the homescreen shows the HTC Herald on the left softkey "E-Mail", but when i pushed this key "Calendar" starts :-(
After a softreset it shows me again "Calendar" on the left side.
What can i do ??
Thanks for help,
bye Hans
Tweaks2k2 has a function that changes the soft keys.
There are 2 fixes here - i think the second (dotfreds) is the better - follow my links.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289275
lol help if i add the link

will add a soft key control panel to Settings>System
this applet doesnt work well on herald. i get an error when i map sms app on left key.

registry location for soft key text[nevermind]

Sorry, but I can't find this out anywhere. I want to change the color of the text that my softkeys correspond to, but I can't find any documentation on where these registry values are located. Any help is appreciated. This is only for the bottom "title bar" not the top, as I've already located the top.
Thanks.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>SOFTWARE>MICROSOFT>TODAY>KEYS
112 is the left soft key. if you want to customize the right soft key create a key called 113. Inside 113 create a new string value and title is "Default" and set the value as whatever you want to call it (ex. Messenger).
create another string value with the title as "Open" and set the value as the path to the executable file you're wanting to open.
I had seen that reg tweak somewhere before, but it didn't address the color of the soft key text. I appreciate the response, but is there another value I can create that will change the color? Or a different area? I tried using UI tweaker but I'm blind, and someone pointed it out to me. Thanks.

Can't get my SecondToday on the Left Button

Hello,
I want to have on my TodyScreen on the Left-Button, a button, to access the App SecondToday..
But it doesen't work!
I've tried these to ways:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2395808&postcount=67
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313171
As I searched in the Registry, the Keys are setten, but nothing happend!
I maybe reseted the Phone, 5 times!
The left Button, only says "Alle Kontakte" (the german phrase for "all contacts").
What am I supposed to do?
[Is it maybe because of the tf3d theme "Orange"??]
Try Softkey manager http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2485292#post2485292
Use HTC mode
i "as a monkey" followed this info reported in diamond tweaks:
31. Remap Manila softkeys:
HKLM/Software/HTC/manila/
HomeLSKPath, which is the left softkey (Standard = Phonepad)
And
HomeRSKPath, which is the right softkey.
If you change these with the location of the programs you want to link to, and simultaneous change the names:
HomeLSKText = Left softkey text
And
HomeRSKText = Right softkey text.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum :
i left homelskargument and homerskargument empty
note SecondToday is different than secondtoday...
hope will works
Ok, never mind.. I've installed the HTC Black original Theme, and now it works.. No Problems
Now my real problem is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2904703

Is it possible to change Softkey on Start Menu?

Hello,
As the title says, is it possible to change the soft key "Lock" to "Back"?
I think it is more natural to have "Back" button here.
how can I make the change?
I think there must be a registry hack to do this, and I have searched through the forums, but I have not found a solution yet.
I disabled Sense, but this "Lock" button does not go away, so, I suppose this may not be a registry hack of Sense, but it is rather WM6.5.
Can someone shed some light on my problem? Thank you.
I like new Sms better
1. Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\\Manila key in your registry
2. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuRSKPath, add it.
3. Edit the value of LandscapeMenuRSKPath to read: \windows\tmail.exe
4. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuRSKText, add it.
5. Edit the LandscapeMenuRSKText value to read: New SMS
6. If you don't have a string called LandscapeMenuRSKArguments, add it.
7. Edit the value of LandscapeMenuRSKArguments to read: -service "SMS" -to ""
Thanks, but I am talking about Start Menu of WM6.5 (screen with icons in a hexgonal arrangement). On this screen there is a soft key "Lock", and I would like to change it to "Back", if possible...
