FTP site directories are not all reachable - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i Software Upgrading

Hi.
Has anyone an idea, why choosing almost all directories I'm getting the error that the directory is unreachable ?
Himalaya is the only I can enter, but the sub-dirs are also unreachable.
And interesting enough, the Alpine directory doesn't exist anymore, but is a file with 1KB ?
Have a nice day,
Chuck

Maybe a localy problem. It's working for me fine.....

Servus Stefan.
Yes, you're right.
Using IE solved this porblem. Perhaps my Opera security restrictions have been too severe
Thanks & regards
Chuck

I noticed earlier that when I was browsing the XDA roms directories in my FTP client, if I tried to send a CDUP command (to navigate to the parent directory) it wouldn't let me (Error 550 Access Denied), but I could still call a particular directory by loading it straight up, and that worked fine. I could navigate into directories, just not back up out of them. Very strange.
Also, the password stumped me for a few seconds, before I realised it was case-sensitive (it's lowercase, not uppercase as someone told me, d'oh.)

In fact, Opera is following standards, whereas Internet Explorer ISN'T - so the FTP server is incorrectly setup, the CDUP command should be allowed at the server end as it is a standard function.

Anyone using SplashID on their K-Jam?

I'm trying to get my database moved to my K-Jam from my PDA2K. I can't seem to make it work. I move the .sdb, but it won't open on my K-Jam. Not sure if I'm missing something.
Thanks,

This is what works for me: From the desktop SplashID app, "Export" all items in the PDA2K database to a .vid file, install SplashID on the KJAM setting the password to the same one as the desktop SplashID app and then sync. This will establish a new SplashID user (with blank data) in the desktop app with the same user name as the KJAM device name. Set the password for this new user to the same as on the KJAM SplashID. "Import" the saved database .vid file to the new user on the desktop. Make sure that SplashID is checked in the ActiveSync options and then re-sync. After that all the PDA2K data will be on your KJAM.
Frank
So there's not a way to just copy the database (or beam it) to my K-Jam?
Tom
Here's the strange part, I tried your suggestion but ran into a problem. I got the files into the SID desktop, but when I try to sync, it says the passwords don't match and it won't transfer. It takes the same password to open the desktop as it does to open the pda. Not sure what's wrong.
I keep getting "67 items unresolved" and password must match in order to sync. They do match though!
Thanks,
Tom
I don't know. This always works for me. I guess I would try uninstalling SID on the KJAM and then reinstalling it, making sure that the pw matches the desktop SID pw and then re-syncing. Seems like something is wrong with your pw somewhere so just redefining it to a simple one like "1234" on both SIDs and then syncing might be the first thing to try.
The problem that I used to have before using the procedure that I outlined before was that I would get duplicates of both the data items and the categories so I would sometimes wind up deleting all data and categories from both the desktop and PDA SIDs, then importing the data to the desktop SID from the .vid file and re-syncing. This would clear things up.
Sorry I am not more help here,
Frank
No problem....thanks for the suggestions. I just tried deleting everything I could find relating to SID and started over. No luck...password problem still. I've sent an email over to SplashData for help. Thanks again!!

I've had this several times after re-establishing an Activesync partnership. The cure is usually to reset the password on both the desktop and PPC a couple of times until they sync.

Exchange server with invalid certificate

My company runs an exchange server that i can connect to via SLL on the web. However, I always got an invalid certificate message. On 2003 devices on ran certchk and i could synschronize my mail, calender and contacts.
Now - with my JJ - i can not get to my mail anymore because of this invalid certificate. I does not help to download the certificate to my device, since it is invalid.
Is there any reg hack, apps or whatever i can use to overcome this?
Thx
Ronaldovic,
Try exporting the root certificate from the Certificate Authority in "DER" format, copy it to the JJ and run it. This should work as the JJ is not certificate locked.
Ferg.
I did - and when i look in settings-certificates - it shows in the list of certificate but with an enddate of somewhere in 2003 (so it is not valid).
Again, with certchk in 2003 devices it all worked flawlessly.
Are the certificates still be the problem now? Or is it something else?
When i sync, i get an error: 0x80072F17
Ah sorry, I read your mail but didn't really read it and assumed I knew what you were saying.
If you can get a reg editor for the JJ (I use something called "Mobile Registry Editor" which is a PC-based app and works through ActiveSync), change DWORD Value under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Activesync\Partners\[Secure] to 0 I gather this will do it.
On the point of the certi though, can you not get the CA to issue a new certificate to the Exch box? When connecting through SSL, ActiveSync doesn;t give you a "Yeah connect, I don't care!" dialog box as OWA does.
Ferg.
got a good reg editor, but can not find the last [secure] part...what do u mean by that? For example below ..\partners i see two entries(default) and (ServerNameChanged). and two directories with strange numbers.
About the certificate thing...if i understand u correctly i will never connect if i do not have a valid certificate?
I appreciate the help!!
YEAH!!! Great, got it working, thx to u!
I just love this forum.
Glad to hear it!
I am back....
The sync goes ok now, but every time i send a new mail, it gets send twice. In my outbox on the JJ there is one email, when i receive i see two coming in (exactly the same)
Any1?
i can get it to look like its working by turning off ssl. e.g. it says sycing 20/20 emails. However when i go to messages there are none there! Similarily contacts, tasks and calendar items appear to be syncing in active sync, but they just dont show up!
Hi,
I have run into the same problem.
Used the tips on changing the registry (for which I really thank you!!!).
However, it seemed working until I realize that my Treo 700w keeps asking for the password. No matter how many times I enter my password correctly, it just keeps asking the password over and over again. It does not save my password even if I select "save password" option.
Have you run into this problem and found any workaround?
Thanks in advance. Bo.
Boryu,
Remove and re-add the server source.
I've had this a few times and it's well annoying! This seems to do the trick though.
Ferg.
same issue
i have the same issue,
i used registry editor but its not allowing me to add the reg key!!
am i doing something wrong,, and were do i add the Secure Dword?
Why don't you just renew the certificate? Just right click the website folder within IIS 6.0 and select Properties. There is a security tab (Directory Security?) within which you can renew an existing certificate.
I had the same problem getting push email to work, and renewing the certificate fixed the problem.

WM 5.0 VPN Client from Bluefire

Hello,
on my search for a VPN Client for WM 5,0 I finally
found one. It´s Only a Trial-version but however it is the
only version i found that will be able to run under WM 5.0. If you know still different VPN software, which runs also under WM 5.0 please post it!

Much fun!
Password not woring :-(
would like to try if possible..
Oh, they have closed the Download-Page...
See attachment!
AnthaVPN is also working on Wm5.
I should have been released a week ago (according to an e-mail I just received), but no info can be found on the website. :-(
This is interesting. I tried Cisco VPC, Antha VPN and Bluefire VPN on my Jasjar and in all cases the programm blocks both the phone mode and the GPRS/UMTS mode, even when the programm is switched off.
Only deleting the programm completely will restore both radio functions.
Any other experiences?

Can you explain where and how you installed the program and and how you configured the settings.
Thanks
I installed the EXE downloaded in this thread; I used the usr/pwd (demo account) above.
The configuration reflects the params of my company's VPN (group, user, ike, IPSec...).

a little question...
does the 3 party vpn replace the ¨built in¨ vpn?
I use it with exceptions and my companies intranet adressers and servers..in the "connects to work" settings.
so if I installs a vpn from another company can use them settings there or how does the internet explorer or outlook connect to my intra net??
manually is not an optiion i think!!

I received anthavpn beta version 5.8 for the WM2005, installed it on my JASJAR and I had to deinstall as I can't power ON the WLAN/WIFI. As d.zee, deleting the program WLAN/WIFI works on its normal behaviour...
Has anybody received also this beta version and played with it successfuly?
I had trouble installing bluefire to my SD card. Once the install was complete, it created a directory in my device called \Storage Card and renamed my SD to \Storage Card2. As you can imagine, this caused some issues. I had to go into and edit the registry and update the log file paths to \Program Files, remove the \Storage Card directory, and reset the device. Once I did that, my storage card came back, and I was still able to use the bluefire client.
Not sure if this helps anyone.
unstalling VPN BlueFire
Just to let you know, folks.
Unistalling Bluefire from an SD card is quite a nightmare.
I tried doing it from the "remove programs" on the JJ and from the ActiveSync removal tool... but no way..
When I contacted somebody from Bluefire I was answered that there was a problem with SD cards, that the problem was explained in the product documentation -never saw it when downloading the demo- and that their recommendation was to uninstall the software by hard resetting the machine!!...
A suggestion from the Support guy was to install it again -on the device- and the uninstall the whole thing... he was not sure it would clean the registry, etc.
Just to let you know

Help Sharing files between 2 Wizards

I have a wireless router and have managed to set up my Home PC and my Wizard so i can browse shared folders on my PC from my wizard. My wife has recently aquired a wizard also and I am trying to set it up so we can share files between the two wizards by mapping/sharing folders on each device.
I have resco explorer on both devices but if I try to map a location on her device from within resco, i can see her device name, but i cant get access to a folder by typing "\\her_name\My Documents" for example.
Anyone got any idea's where i'm going wrong??
Is there a way to share certain files or will it just work on a PPC?
Obviously you are both in the house at the same time to do this.
Why not just do it directly?
I don't think the wizard has a samba server on it, it's only a client. you can share files fast over a PC or, if they're small, by bluetooth!
Hi, thanks for your responses, but i'm not trying to connect them directly to each other. I mean via the wireless router, the router is set up as a gateway.
It is possible to actually see each others devices in the "map network drive" window of resco explorer, but it tells me i "dont have permission or it cant find the network resource" if i try to map a folder on the pocket pc.
It would seem as though i'm just a step away from solving this but i'm not an expert at networking.
Sorry if i didn't explain myself properly in the first message.
EDIT: I know it could be done by bluetooth, but i was just wondering if it was possible
like i said, i don't think WM has an integrated Samba Server, only a client. you can only connect to network resources, not host files etc.
This topic reads so much better if you imagine it as being 2 actual wizards sharing nail files
Off topic I know but I couldn't resist
Sorry - I looked at it from a practical perspective, not as a challenge or theoretical project.

owa access

I'm trying hard to like my x1, can anyone help?
Whenever I try to access OWA using either PIE or Opera I get a page cannot be displayed error. Anyone else seen this and got a solution? OWA works fine using my E90 S60 browser.
Thanks, Martyn.
Just tried it on Opera 9.5 build 15202 and it renders really nicely - pleasantly surprised!
Doesn't work in my Opera Mobile. Can't remember the build. It's the one with Manila favs from Itje's thread.
It works nice and is really fast (as always) in latest Opera Mini.

Try Opera Mini.
I'd not like to use Opera Mini for sensible sites
like OWA. It transmits logins over a proxy,i don't
think it's a good idea...
why don't you use Active Sync? You can sync it
manually and e.g. only for the last days. But for
the most it uses less traffic then visiting
the OWA site everyday...
Better yet, set up your push email. It keeps a HTTPS session alive. You just need to install the certificate on your PC to set up the sync, which you can get from OWA.

How?
Will it work without OMA (mobile access)? I don't think so. We don't have a frontend server to support ssl connection from mobile devices, and I'm pretty sure I've tried everything.
If you have a magic way to make it work I would really like to know.
I've been having the same problem...
...and I tried Activesync, but I get a 'certificate' error. I can't figure out how to get the certificate on my device.
I spent days searching the web for an answer... and I gave up after a while.

If you have the .cer file, you just copy it to your device like any other file and run it from there. It should install. I had a few weird cert errors when trying to get mine to work but random poking and prodding seemed to get it up and running eventually.

To be honest, I don't know, I'm not the exchange admin.
My company's fairly tightfisted when it comes to IT expenditure, so I'd be surprised if they forked out anything extra.
A cursory glance at MS's documentation implies that it shouldn't be necessary because as far as the exchange server is concerned, it can't tell the difference between WinMo's client and a regular web browser. I stand to be corrected by someone who actually knows what they're talking about.
Try installing the cert and setting up your server in Active Sync. It should just work.
I had problem in my work getting this working but after a clean install of OWA on our front end server everything worked properly. The only think needed on the X1 was to import the cer file if you going to use Exchange/Active Sync connection as someone has already suggested.
IE and Opera always worked it was just Active Sync which had problems.
I've just recently got an X1 and been trying furiously to get active sync to work. But as I don't have access to the exchange server at work, I've been trying to find out how to obtain a copy of the cert from my outlook.
Haven't been able to find anything, any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Grab the cert from the OWA website, cause it should be SSL encrypted. The browser shows the encryption with a small lock symbol. Click on it an get more information about the cert. When you opened it, open the cert for the CA shown on the last register. In there choose "save to file" and copy it to your phone.
On the phone open the cert with any file explorer, that will import it into the phone's cert store. From now your phone will trust your company internal CA.
This way is only useful, if your company uses self generated certs with an internal CA. You can see this, if your browser at home (the pc there has nothing to do with your company) show an cert warning, if you open the OWA website. If you really can't get acces to this site from the internet, forget all of the above
Brilliant! I'll give that a go when I get home! I'll let you know how I get on.
Thanks again mcfisch!
I just realised what I did wrong the first time. Under server, I put the wrong address didn't I. However, I've come across another problem, Where it asks for the login credentials, there' username, password and domain, what do I put under domain?
Its all sorted now! I can't believe I was being such a dumbass! I was over complicating things way too much!
Happy days!!!!!!!!
