No MSN on MDA Pro (T-Mobile, Netherlands) - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hmmm, I just found out there's no MSN Mobile on my MDAPro. Can anyone post a CAB with MSN suitable for the WM2005 OS ??
Thanx !
Sammy ;o)

its a cab file for wm2003se but it will work on wm2005 too...
regards

you can buy it for 19,95 dollar on msn

unfortuntily i can't gete het 2003 to work. So anybody any other options?
grt,
Ruben

like i said
microsoft wants you to buy it
i did, i have msn on my mda pro

Are the $ 19 once ore returning?
I don't understand the decision of MS. This will push the user to Skype and evangelize other PC users to do this also.

Hang on, isn't Pocket MSN is supposed to be standard on all WM2005 devices?
You don't have to pay for MSN Messenger for any other platform which Microsoft supports, so why on God's Holy Earth would they charge for this version? Especially as it's free and pre-installed on the JasJar.
It surely can't be a Microsoft decision, sounds like T-Mobile (Germany) are the ones who are screwing everything up to me...

The PocketMSN install on the MDA Pro CD connects to a Microsoft site where you can download PocketMSN. Installing it prior to activating it with Microsoft will result in an error message. In this case Microsoft are not charging for the USE of MSN but for the use of the PocketMSN application, and they do that by preventing the PocketMSN application from connecting to MSN and Hotmail prior to activation.
In short, Microsoft are selling the application instead of shipping it for free, and by leaving MSN out of the default WM5 OS make sure that you buy it. Has nothing to do with T-Mobile.

On the jasjar it comes installed and you just login and you're good to go.

Yeah, but I-Mate probably paid MS a lump sum to be able to include in in the bundled software. Not every operator may want to do so, in order to save a dime. Mind you: these devices are heavily subsidised (at least here in the Netherlands). I'm on the Relax 200 subscription (which I extended) and I got the MDA Pro for €239... The normal cost is € 745.
Most of the MDA's they sell will be in combination with a subscription (and thus subsidised) and therefore the package needs to be as cheap as possible...

Pocket Msn.
can some god send person please upload pocket msn over here I have already activated pocket msn services under my email address but have failed to download the setup of pocket msn, as i try to download, it terminates the connection itself and i dont have a complete .exe file to install in my pda....ive asked my friend to download it at his place he has the same issue it terminates itself i am sure someone out here is using pocket msn if not using has it in the backup folder could you please upload it here or upload it to http://rapidshare.de or http://www.megaupload.com and post the link here for the download......
ive contacted microsoft support team and all crap replies one guy is suggesting me to contact microsoft u.k one is saying contact msn support team and both have given links where as on the links there is no information for pocket msn support and microsoft u.k would'nt reply.
this thread is my last hope i had posted a new thread also but no one has the courtesy to post the file for me as there are only increasing views no replies....
P.S : if you would like to give a shot at the download link then here it is http://mobile.msn.com/download.aspx?id=pmsn_installer

MDA Pro crashes after Pocket msn install and reset
I installed Pocket MSN. It worked, but after a soft reset, the device won't start up again, it just hangs in the boot screen (the T-mobile logo.)
First I thought it was a compatibility problem, but the same thing happened after a hard reset and a fresh install of only Pocket MSN.
Anyone else has the same problem?
ANd than to think I paid for the service.

Must be a temporary problem. I successfully downloaded this at work earlier (to post here for anyone who might want it), but decided it'd probably be pointless as I assumed it'd need to be registered (paid for).
I'm unable to download more than 30% of the file now because as you say, it keeps cutting out, but I still have the complete .exe at work, and if no-one else has posted this by tomorrow morning, I'll upload it for you as soon as I get back to the office...

Pocket MSN File
I at least can post the file, it's a free download. You have to pay for the registration.

hey dude .....would really appreciate if you could post it, and yes i have already paid for the registration gbp 10.99

ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Install_Pocket_MSN.exe

Beaten to it! I forgot about my training session this morning!
So does this mean that everyone with an MDA Pro will have to pay £10.99 to get MSN to work on their device? Sneaky little buggers - T-Mobile - aren't they?
I assume there's some sort of legal 'issue' about extracting the MSN app from a JasJar, and posting it here, or is that not actually possible???

Who wants the real MSN Messenger for WM5/TyTN

After flicking around on google, i have found a personally tested method of getting msn messenger working in WM5.
It fully supports the rotation that occurs when you open the keyboard on the TyTN.
http://node13.org/pda/
Go here (my own site), and do the following:
1. Connect your WM5 device to your pc.
2. Run msn22.exe (Will installed the PPC2002 version of MSN Messenger)
3. Run msn23.exe (Will instal the PPC2003SE version with the latest updates)
4. Reset your device
Voila, you now have a nice working copy of MSN Messenger.
Enjoy!
Just out of curiosity:
What's the difference between "MSN Messenger on Pocket PC" and "Pocket Messenger"?
Thanks for that!

For some reasons, every time I tried to run your msn23 from my computer (connected to the device of course), it showed the InstallShield 1645: and it stopped there. I have also tried msn22 and the result is the same. BTW, I have done the unlock CID already if it would matter at all.
Any suggestions?

Yes, I don't know why Microsoft have it so obscurely referenced, not easy to track it down. By the way also works well for me too.

Well now that's a tricky question... welllll ok yes we are, at least I am. The one that's like the old MSN for mobile but not quite if you know what I mean!! And the one that shows as Live.com on this link http://ideas.live.com/, In case there's confusion "MSN Messenger is now Windows Live Messenger" hence the use of the name Live.com.
Mike
you try this agilemessenger
in my tytn it works very well:
- he automatically rotates with the opening of the keyboard
- it notices all the emoticons
- it works with msn, icq, yaooh etc. accounts
- allows to make a photo with my TYTN and to send it
- and it also has the push to talk!!!
It's phenomenalanything
...else other than microsoft!!!

him, agile messenger is fabulous! to try for believing!
Is Agile Messenger really free? On their web site they only have 7 day trial versions after which you pay and through the nose...

Free on WM5 "for the moment"
As it is slightly buggey or at least was, seems much more stable these days.
Yes is Free!!!
Where is it, it says that it's not available yet, the messenger.

Microsoft is blocking old MSN messenger

Anyone got the same problem ? I still use the old MSN Messenger of WM2003 SE, original one from the Magician.
It does not work anymore.
I tried MSN 4.7.3 in my PC and it does not work either. I upgraded to the latest release and it works !
I think Microsoft is now blocking the old MSN messenger
Any ideas?
It still works for me, then maybe it was just a short interruption of service.
Strange, it still does not work for me. It happened about 5 hours ago and still does not work until now.
Internet connection is working fine, I use GPRS. Browsing is fine.
Like I said, I have this problem also in the PC. But when I updated the MSN Messenger to the latest release (Windows Live Messenger), it is working fine.
However, I dont know how to update my Magician MSN Messenger
yeah it doesnt work sometimes, i dont use it alot.
if you wana use messenger get agile or IM+ they support multiple messengers
Is Agile freeware ? This is confusing because in some forums people put it as freeware. But when I check the website, I have to pay about $19 USD.
I tried it once (I think I got it bundled with T-Mobile NL), and I dont like it because of intermittent hung up.
Maybe there is a newer version, I dont know.
What is your experience with Agile ?
I hate Agile for the only reason that when a suggestive input text has been selected, it sends the message which may rather be incomplete.. It should be freely available though.
I like agile - think its a really good wee programme, never had a problem with predictive - but I have it turned off.
It is free if you get the ppc version - some mobile versions are charged but I downloaded and used the ppc one and not a penny was paid.
However I did pay for a years service on my 6600 then 2 months in got the hermes so I guess my lack of use of my paid version more than makes up for getting the hermes version for free.
yeah it says its paid for but when you install it it doesnt say trial only or anything
I like Agile, never had any problems. It's a really good program and best of all... it's totally free.

Have you installed or recently updated a firewall/antivirus application like Norton software? This could be the problem with the PC version as I've found that sometimes updates block files such as the exe file for MSN; this could explain why the old messenger didn't work and the new one does, as the exe files are different. No idea with the ppc tho :/

Pocket MSN

Good morning Chaps and Chappesses.
I hope everyone is well and happy. I am really enjoying using my Ameo but I cannot remember how to re-enable pocket MSN which t-moblie appear to have removed from my device.
I had this same problem on an older PPC I had but I cannot remember what I did to resolve this!
I had pocket MSN setup on my MDA pro and #I found it extremely usefull for checking mail and msn messenger.
Can anyone advise me on getting this back on my device?
Mny thanks!!

if lots of you are interested, i can post a windows message live up here, it's the next generation of pocket MSN.
I'm interested
WOWZERS!!!
PLEASE!!!
I would love a copy of the live messenger!
If you could post it before someone decides its a bad idea and blocks out posts
I am rather annoyed that I cannot have my hotmail messages delivered into my inbox like I did on my MDA pro.
That saved time and effort logging into hotmail through opera.
I guess I will not be installing another T-mobile Rom on this device but I had better find a copy of the HTC advantage Rom istead for TOMTOM and pocket MSN.
I await the goodness of :Live messenger !!
thanks!
Does the Live messenger keep your MSN contacts isolated, or does it still import all your phone contacts and add them as contacts (like it did when i once installed it on universal, prompting my immediate uninstall)
Also, does it suffer from the same problem with the winxp live messenger where some of the more recent contacts you add never appear online, even though they are online ?
Interested!!

I heard that BBmessenger has to have a PIN. PINs are "given" when you install BBConnect. Is it a matter of no one creating a program to take advantage of the BBConnect software or what? I also heard that we can receive BBMessenger messages but cannot reply....any truth in that?
If that is the case, there MUST be a workaround for it.....
Any thoughts?

OZ Instant Messenger Cab?

Yes, it is free.
http://www.palringo.com/en/gb/
Download (it was hard for me to find at first, so it might be easier for the direct link): http://www.palringo.com/en/gb/download?get=winmobcab
"Palringo enables you to talk to all your contacts, whether they're using AOL® Instant Messenger®, Google Talk™, Yahoo!® Messenger®, Gadu-Gadu, ICQ®, Jabber® or Windows Live. You can also use Palringo to contact friends using iChat®, Apple's IM application."
Not for Vogue.
The posted Oz Messenger is for At&t and does not work with Sprint. My phone had a link for a Sprint version out of the box but not on cooked roms. Anyone have the sprint version or the link for it? It would suck having to flash back to stock rom just to get a single link.
And while Palringo was fancy it also drained my battery dry way too quickly which oz did not

Here's one for Sprint. It includes AOL, Yahoo! and MSN Instant Messengers. I'm still looking for the one that has Google Talk. If anyone has it, please post a link.
I've always had problems with bad delays with the Oz messenger. I tried Slick I think but it drained my battery horribly
Does anyone know how to contact the developers of Oz ? I have a particularly odd situation where I must have left my screen name logged in under a phone with this application and performed an ESN swap with a phone that does not have this app.
I'm getting encrypted data which is definitely looking for this application to interpret and Sprint is counting every one of these texts as an international and charging accordingly.
I have since logged in on the same phone (new line) and signed out/exited, but I'm not fully convinced this has solved the problem.
oz messenger for sprint q9c phone
if you are still needing the cab for this instant messenger, here it is. I was looking for it too.
OZ is limited to network - USE SLICK Messenger.
Best and simple YAHOO, GTALK IM works through your dataplan. Its a freeware.
