Help Me Buy a XDA EXEC: I Will pay for your 1yr Subscription - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

EDIT*
Ok guys I will be visiting the UK this week, I really need someone to help me get this phone as o2 only sells to UK residents. I saw on one of theses treads that they now have a student price for 114 ponuds with a 1 year contract bringing the final price to around 345 pounds....CAN ANYONE HELP? FYI:
will pay cash
would buy 2 if price is good (extra phone for wife)
don't want to try EBAY  that place is just to scary for me!!!
will pay little extra for your time/trouble
Hello All,
I don't live in the UK, however I really want one of thoses black beauties (XDA EXEC). I need an o2 member to buy the phone for me with the lowest 1 year subscrition. I will then pay for the cost of the phone and half the cost of the subscription! You get a full year of service with o2 at half the online cost to use on your present phone and I get a XDA EXEC at a reduced price can any of you be willing to help me! of course this is for people who don't really want a XDA but want a new o2 contract at half the price!
Thanks [/list]

wont they release the phone contract free??

I think you'll struggle to find anyone willing to accept that deal, truth be told. O2 don't offer great deals with subsidised 'phones (in the UK at least) apart from maybe to existing customers whom they hope to retain. For example, the cheapest tariff available with a handset is something like £17 for 50 minutes but it's not difficult to find, for example Vodafone sims (with cashback) that effectively offer 1000 minutes for free. e.g.
http://www.scancom.co.uk/product.php/958/476//655aea8edf70d8d14da1da39d5d245e6
Also, the XDA Exec will be locked to O2, maybe even to O2 Uk, so I'd either just stump up the extra for a jasjar/qtek or wait until there's a proven unlock procedure.
sorry to be so negative.

 well i really hope someone is interested in helping, i know the phone will come locked, but with a community like this  i KNOW i will be able to unlock it. Call me silly but the JasJar is ugly compared to the xda exec, hence me wanting one. xiasma, thanks for your feedback, i guess it would not be worth anyones time to take up my offer!

Well, it seems you're aware of the options, so if an XDA is the handset you want, O2 have suggested a contract-free price of £400, so this may be your best bet. The prices should be available by the end of the week, or Monday next week at latest, i'd guess.
I'm hoping O2 offer it on their online, business-only tariffs (£16.50+VAT / month) at less than £250+VAt for the XDA. Failing that, I don't mind which network really, and the colour doesn't bother me, so it'll probably be T Mobile, possibly on their 100mb 3G tariff.

£400...that would be the cheapest price yet for this kind of device, Do you know if this applies to non UK persons? that works out to $TT4000.00 in my currency  If you get more info PLEASE keep me updated. Thanks a mill friend!

As soon as I know pricing and availability, I'll post it in this forum. Unless someone beats me to it

Somebody is deaming
T-Mobile is tradtionally the cheapest and most agressive, and they sell it for 550GBP on Germany. There is no way o2 is doing for 400GBP. your are kidding yourself. Expect, at best, between 500-600 sim free from o2. They are just never cheap to buy from o2.

REALLY NEED YOUR HELP GUYS!!!
oh I forgot please PM me your telephone contact and i will call to finalize any details!
thanks again

haha, are you kidding?
you can get the phone for 114 + 19x6= 228 pounds, and the one who get it for you, need to pay for 114 pounds for 50 mins per months and no new phone at all?
then what is the benefit for him?
i think if i sell the phone for 400 pounds, there are a lot of people want to buy it....
then at least he/she no need to pay for the whole year contract and earn a little bit of money..

@siupiu
How do you get a 6 month contract? I have misunderstood your calculation?

the guy said that he will only pay for half of the cost of the subscription, so he only pay for 228, and the the person need to pay the rest of the subscription, so the person who help him to get the Exec, need to pay 114 and have no new phone...
to be honest, who will do this stupid things???
if there are anyone who to sell the phone to me for 228 pounds, i probably buy as much as i can.

siupiu, I WILL PAY FOR THE FULL YEAR SERVICE...so i get the phone and the person gets 1 year's services paid up front to use.

siupiu
these phones (XDA EXEC) are flying of ebay for £450 to £600, put on tomtom and throw in a GPS reciver and youl get more-one just went for £695.00 with the GPS stuff on ebay, mate youl be lucky if you get one for less then £250.
If you do give me a shout il buy em in bulk! lol

i have been offered the chance of an XDAII for £100

decisions, decisions!
Do i take them up on the offer and get a rubbish contract or do i wait and pay a huge amount.
ian
Hi ian
Seems like a very generous offer to me (who made you this offer?).
I took out a contract with O2 earlier this April. If offered similar deal i would jump to it.
I only wish that the new xda would be a lot lighter than the current model!!!! But you get an improved CPU + bluetooth. Thats enough improvement for me to be worth £100.
Cheers
xda
were you offered it by 02
regards kevin beecher
Where can we buy them? I would jump at the chance
lol £100 ?
hate to get folks hopes up but I read the MDA will be out for around $700+
XDAII for £100.... mmm more like £600
£100 XDA
I hate to reveal my sources (so i won't - but i will clarify my statement) but staff at certain retail outlets are offered contract mobiles including XDA for £100 as long as they take the contract offered. The member of part-time staff is a former student of mine (now at university) who comes to me for help and advice, and often passes on deals and useful information to me.
ian
Where is this retail outlet then. I could get a temp job and get the XDA then quit!
If you can get an XDA for that price then go for it
If you can get an XDAII for that price the GO FOR IT lol
Doesnt matter about the contract... if your getting it for £100
Remember there is nothing to stop you going for that contract and then going down to their cheapest.
Personaly I doubt it is an XDAII ( no offence)
but if it is then jump at the chance to get it for £100... just make sure its all legit
I know O2 were selling the old XDA at a discount (to staff) last year because they couldnt shift them fast enough... but I think £500 is a tad large a discount.
Good luck though,
if its genuine I'm jelous... if its not... I'll laff hehe
Was that posted 3 times or is this irish whiskey stronger than I thought?
nope only twice....
stop drinking that whiskey !
hehe j/k
whisky
hi
whats wrong with irish whiskey
Hey I never said that lol...
I dislike *real* whiskey anyways... Southern Comfort n coke and JD is tollerable I guess lol
£100 deal
not that i'm disappointed or anything but my deal (hah!) for an XDAII for £100 has fallen through. If anyone wants to try then find someone who works for a well known electrical retailer d-x--s for example and find out if they are willing to buy at staff discount a phone for you. d-x-n- staff get really good prices on mobile 'phones if they sign up for a specific network and contract.
ian
O2 / XDAii contracts are available from £99.99 via a host of High street O2 Dealers here in the UK, sample contract on Ebay, follow the link below:

£75 a month. Ouch!
I would imagine that for most users you could get a cheaper deal over 12 months by paying a bit more up front.
Then again what do I know - I'm fortunate enough to get my Xda II entirely free of contract as part of my job
cheap XDA II
My company also do a deals with O2, Vodafone for staff to buy a phone for 50% off onetime, and 25% off rental and call for life. So is quite common. So £200 is an achievalble street price with a bit of haggling. They are going to recoup this in rental and calls so they are not too worried.
They think that anyone that buys an XDAII, IS GOING to use lots of MMS, GPRS,surfing etc, otherwise they'd have bought a sim free phone from another vendor.

How you can get a Exec for less than £300

I can tell you how to get a new XDA Exec for less than £300. But you need to PM and I will tell you how. Also you MUST promise to donate £10 to a children's charity. This is the only condition I have. I will not profit from this myself.
I already know how to do this @ £380, but I think you should give the information up and request people that use the advice donate £10 to charity !!!
I may have a way that will get a GPRS card + an MDA Pro for £270, and then subsequent MDA Pros for £235 a piece... but it's a bit of a gamble
Actually, with the 14 day cooling off thing, it's barely a gamble at all 8)
Okay Ice, I trust people who use this information to donate money to a children's charity. Please, its nearly Christmas.
What you need to do.
Go to an O2 store and ask for the XDA Exec on the Data 5 tariff and take an old mobile phone with a charger for a trade-in.
Here is the calculation:
Exec: £230
Trade-in: -£50
Data 5 x 12: £9.40 x 12 (£113)
Total cost: £293
Remember that £10 to charity!
The alternative way...
Buy a T Mobile Communication Centre
http://www.directmobilephones.com/communication_centre.htm
Now, although it says £25/month, that may not be the case...
I bought one of these a little over a year ago (when it was £15/month). Turns out, the line rental was just under £3 and internet access was a flat fee of around £11 on top. Now, if this is still the arrangement, then you can get on a tariff that's only £3/month and this is the key to getting a cheap MDA.
The early cancellation fee is your line rental for the remainder of the contract. I found this out by mistake - I had a row with T Mobile and said I wanted my money back and would go to O2. They told me "your early cancelation charge is £32". I started saying "No way am I paying to cancel when you misold this to me... hang on, that's cancel the contract and walk away, the handset remains mine?"
"YES" they replied.
So, I'm now out of contract and they sent me an unlock code (on request) but never charged me for that. I've not actually terminated my contract (although I can now without further charge or notice) so, technically, I may be eligable for an upgrade!
If you use this method, £10 to McMillan's cancer nurses, NSPCC or, indeed, XDA Developers please.

No problemo!
data 5 tariff
CAn you tell me what a data 5 tariff consists off ? and i wonder how long it will take them to catch on!
Thanks John.
jdoherty, the Data 5 tariff has no voice minutes but it does include 5 MB of data. Look here for more info: http://www.o2.co.uk/business/tariffs/datatariffs/0,,203,00.html
My plan is to use my Exec to receive calls and for email & web and probably use my Treo 650 for outgoing calls as I have a normal voice data SIM in my Treo.
Don't forget that donation.... (PS I gave £20 to www.DEC.org.uk, just a hint)
data tariff 5
Thanks JA, If I buy I wont forget the donation. But don't think no voice mins no good to me. I know you could probably unlock the device and move to pay as u go. thanks John
exec doesnt lock at all, anyway, someone use your info to make benefit, such ashamed

It is such a sad world we live in - we have mobile phones and a roof over our heads and there are people in Asia at the moment that are facing hardship because of he earthquakes. I hope "ak-uk", the seller on ebay, gives a good slice of his/her profit to a charity
Edit: is there a way we can identify ak-uk? Can we get his/her forum/member name?
Great news. ak-uk will be donating his money from ebay to charity. Thank you. Sorry for my previous post.
Great news. ak-uk will be donating ALL his money from ebay to charity. Thank you very very much.. Sorry for my previous post.
He sent me an email also, really grateful to see that, hope your idea will reach people's heart, I personally will support, thanks for such kindness of yours.
Thank you all for the precious informations, but concerning the trade-in
what are the acceptable mobiles to be traded, thus I want to know if we pay the entire sum, do we get it unlocked directly?
I'll will not forget the charity donation.
Ram!
@ramram,
1. it appears the XDA Execs are all unlocked as I tested my one with a Vodafone 3G SIM
2. the trade-in is not by cash discount. O2 will send you a cheque for £50 within 28 days. Remember you only a mobile phone and charger.
So no-one has take an Exec on the 02 50 plan thru the student thing ??
109 for the Exec plus charges ??
Works out at about 320 quid ish ??

O2 UK Great Pricing error.

Get them while there hot again, O2 stores have got an error on there POS system, which they are not able to correct untill Friday, consequently, you can get a new XDA Mini S (HTC Wizard) for only £79.99 on whatever Tarif you want, including the low price base ones, got my two upgrades free but with a £50:00 trade in of a crap old nokia got myself a third for £29.99 and an additional £7:95.
So I am now the proud owner of 3 HTC Wizards which cost me in total the princeley some of £29.99.
So don't miss out get down to the UK O2 shops with your crappy old trade inns now before they get the system fixed.
Thanks Chaps,
Regards Ash'e
Is this right? You can buy a non contract wizard for £80?
I'd be interested in one for development...
V
Hi - what did you have to supply to get the £50 trade in - just phone or other bits of kit?

No, he said on whatever tariff you like, so probably 10 or 15 quid a month and 79 quid outlay initially.
Blimey, if I'd have known that I'd have stuck with o2. Ah well, never mind, T-Mobile seems fairly good and cheap...
Trade Whatever you want
Hey Guys
you can trade in whatever phone you like, as long as it boots and as long as you have its charger.
Then you get £50.00 back taken of the £79.99 leaving you with just £29.99 to pay (bargain) but here the really good part, untill the end of the week you can put it on any tarrif you want including the low band ones starting at £16:00 a month. But hurry chaps they won't let this keep going on for long.
Best Regards - Ash'e
As an Added Bonus
Oh & forgot to mention as an added bonus O2 are also offering DOUBLE MINUTES & TEXTS for SIX MONTHS on all UPGRADES & NEW CONNECTIONS (BONUS SCORE)
Regards Ash'e
PS - (Can you really go wrong chaps considering the real value of the Wizard)
(& Think of what the other poor sods in the rest of Europe have to pay.)
(Now if we could only get an I-Mode browser for the wizard to take advantage of O2 great new service, Still I live in hope, O2 I-Mode is totally free till the first of January & I-Mail is Totally Free till April 2006 eclusive to O2).
This poor sod is on T-Mobile netherlands and paid 110 euro for a 1 year 150 minutes (21 euro a month) contract renewal...
That sucks for me. Because i have an online contract, i can't take advantage of any of these deals.
The upgrade centre don't even have the XDA mini on their systems yet!!
So angry
Just tried this on in my local O2 highstreet store and they wouldn't do it. They basicaly said 'thats obviosuly an error, f**k off'.
Oh well, at least I tried...
I called O2 for an upgrade and they said I could have the Mini S for free or the Exec for £150.
Yep - got my XDA mini with O2 - lowest tariff, traded in a broken mobile.
Scott
Where have you had sucess doing this? I tried a shop in central london and the guy wasn't having it at all!
Hmmm. I need to look for a discount airfare r/t over there. LOL
low airfare.
well, new york london for only £120 check cheapflights.com
ehehehe
Geez, I haven't been into UK since I bought my nickel plated, Metisse framed, two barreled weber carburated, side hack mounted Trumpet...and then left my wife and kids in the hotel to ride it back to Germany...in November. LOL
Man, those were the days..197?
Check out This
http://www.mobileswizard.co.uk/display.asp?hs=xdaminis&tariff=none
to compare O2 plans and how much you will end up paying if bought online
and this for T-Mobile
http://www.mobileswizard.co.uk/display.asp?hs=mdav&tariff=none
I like the info on the right saying "Min Term Cost"
gives you and idea of how much you will end up paying.
Still the tradein offer (if you get in 25 quid) is cheaper making it. £217)
Or even if you dont get trade in and have an offline tarif for £16 you will be paying £291.
Think anyone can beat that??????
let me know I am after the phone.
Call O2 Store Uxbridge
Just got mine yesterday form the O2 Store in Uxbridge, payed a grand total of £29:99 for it on upgrade, on my low tarif asked the same deal is available on new contracts, if you don't believe me call the store on (01895) 252163 ask for Greg (Nice Aussied Chap) and you will see. That other O2 store is talking BS,
Regards Ash'e
Well Done, just been down to O2 in Bath, got mine on O2 25 £16 per month, all the staff have bought one this morning as well. traded in crappy old sony phone. bye bye exec..
Richard
i just got an 02exec with a 19pound per month plan ...
is there a way to get the wizard for 29 pound only without signing up for more months?
what is an upgrade? i dont get it...
thanks

Selling my XDA Mini S (UK)

Just received a free upgrade from O2 - it's an XDA Mini S.
Decided however that I might as well it - already got a perfectly good phone, and whilst the XDA Mini S is superb (much much better than it's predecessors) - I'm not really gone use it.
So - anyone want to buy it ? Comes with an extra belt case, and a Martin Fields Screen Protector (already installed by myself). Boxed, with all supplied accessories, manuals, software etc.
Will also supply the receipt in case of any warranty problems.
Looking for £225 - UK sales only. PayPal, BACS, Cash or cheque acceptable.
Got 100% positive eBay feedback over 120+ transactions - so I'm genuine.
Pls email me ([email protected]) or PM me here.
Thanks
Mark
Thats a lot of pennies mate for
a) Something that cost you nothing. (Not really a bargain)
b) Something that has just been blown away by the Hermes
It's a shame cos I have one of these Wizards and I love it. I had a perfectly good phone before my ppc but I wouldn't expect too much from that price me old mukka.

I agree it's been blown away by Hermes but disagree that it cost him nothing! It cost him 12 months at £35 a month or whatever - that ain't free. If you don't take a subsidised / free handset you cna negotiate line rental down to as little as £10/month. So it ain't 'free'...
Richard
So make me a (sensible) offer
£225 appears to be the closing price on good old eBay - but it is hassle etc (advertising, fees) - so would prefer to deal privately.
There's always someone who will buy it - I'm just trying to negate the possibility of being 'scammed' by someone on eBay (doesn't matter how hard you try - someone always chances their luck).
Thanks
Mark

Sorry to sound like I'm splitting hairs on this, but I really have gotta have my say, ha ha ha.
All I really want to say is that someone looking to buy a contract free phone would probably wait and pay a little more for the Hermes.
As far as the "Per month" tariff is concerned, Mark is going to have that anyway. He couldn't use the £225 to get out of the contract and as he says, he has a perfectly good phone which he will continue to use, assumedly on the existing / continued tariff he was on before.
This was obviously Mark's choice to stay on with O2 and as a result agrees to be bound to a 12 month contract anyway. Therefore, factoring the yearly tariff into a sale isn't really valid, surely.
LOL
Sorry, I really sound like I want to pi$$ on someones bonfire, but thats really not the case, just stating an opinion.
Just as an extra note, I upgraded with O2 to a wizard for free, the cost to a new contract was only £50 then.
A fortnight later when my other half could upgrade, she went from Nokia to a Motorola something or other but didn't like it. She returned it and stayed with the Nokia. O2 gave her £100 instead. (Credit or as a payment back to her.)
Just to add Mark, good luck with the sale, I just thought I'd stick my two penne'th in LOL.
I agree if you can make a bit of cash then go for it, I just think it could be a little late with a newer, faster model now available.
Cut the Guy some slack.........
............These phones are £400+ on Expandsys sim free. [So this one may well be locked to O2 but we can either accept that or fix it!!]
The rest of us got them 'free' when signing up to a contract of some description.
You're not forced to buy if you don't want to !!

Cheapest way to get an XDA Exec with o2

Anyone got any ideas?
Steal one??
Try http://www.mobiles4everyone.com/ they're pretty good.
cheapest way to get an exec
O2 stores offered 50 pounds back in the form of a cheque for old handsets if given in when a new contract was undertaken . I cannot confirm if this offer is still available but they took my broken V600.
an 18 month contract will assure you a cheaper handset than a 12 month one; and invariably more minutes and text, though I ended up cancelling my contract and migrating to t-mobile as O2 were crap in the data package front (not much point having an exec if u can't afford to browse on it!)
If you wait till the Trion comes out, I should imagine the Exec will come down in price to make it more attractive. That's assuming they ever release the Trion.
Or you could buy one off ebay - I sold my Pro unlocked with GPS for 250 quid last week - they've plummeted in price since I bought mine, and they'll get cheaper if you hold out.
Well I managed to get my Exec for FREE plus an O2 500 contract for £25/mth. Basically, I phoned asking for a PAC code and said that I was going to move over to Orange as they were willing to give me an M5000 for FREE. Try and see, if you don't ask you don't get.
I got mine in January when they put the mis print in the catalogue and it will cost me a total of £162 over the full contract length.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=36677&highlight=%A3162
Surprisingly enough that offer was pulled by the end of January but you can still sign up on the data 36 for £14.50 a month.
I would probably just go or ebay though. They are so much cheaper there.
If you do decide to go for the data 36 tarriff, be sure to add Data Centric as its a free add-on that will give you pay as you go o2 calls. Without it, you can't call anyone.
