Dopod 900 - its out - can I switch roms? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi - the Dopod 900 is out here:
http://www.dopod.com.tw/product/pro.aspx?Product_Class_id=4&Product_id=34#
But the rom will be Chinese (I assume) - if I get this PDA, would it be possible as of now to change roms with the Jasjar for instance?

Hi. Sorry for my ignorence, but is there a post with detailed instructions on how to switch and or update a Rom on the Universal? I'm still a newbie in many areas of this, so please bear with me. Besides, the more people know these things, the more heads can brainstorm our shared problems.

Rom update Ger/Jap -> WWE (eng) is not possible yet.
Not 1 WWE rom has been uploaded or shared..

Hi Rudegar
Thanks for the reply I also have similar original versions of the O2 Australia Firmware and am wanting to upgrade.
I use the O2 Bluetooth head set which I would also like to keep using (I've noticed a few people having issues with some upgrade versions)
Please could someone send me a link where I can download the most stable/updated ROM for my Australian XDA II.
Sorry Rudegar for asking for links but I am so confused when trying to search for this, I never know what one to use and there are so many around.
I would also like to (IF POSSIBLE) get an upgrade ROM that is automated like O2 original ROM's, one EXE that extracts and does it all for you... no commands or lots of text to read though and try and work out how to do it all....
MANY THANKS!!!!!
Hope someone can help me out!

Is this also for the Australian Version of XDA II?
i've never heard of a special australian rom
Cool, thanks for the fast reply!
Ya I think Australia uses the Asian Rom?? but not 100% about that :-(
I though you needed your countrys rom so that you can select what telco's settings to use?
I am with Telstra as my phone provider. would you mind having a quick look and seeing if you can select Telstra if you have this rom already installed on your phone :-D
Many thanks for your efforts!

P3300 Artemis - ROM - Help a newbie with a simple doubt

Hello ya'all. This is my first post so first of all I'd like to congratulate you for the excellent site and forum !
There is a lot of resource info around here ! Great Job !!!
But unfortunately for some new people getting into this new world of WMobile even what it looks simple to you might be slightly blurred to us.
I bought in France a HTC P3300
IPL 1.12.0001
SPL1.12.0000
GSM 02.67.90
OS 1.12.00
ROM 1.12.406.1.FRE
RADIO 02.67.90
PROTOCOL 4.1.13.28
ROM EXT V.1.12.406.101
ARTE 100
Of course the WM came in French. Well I am willing to change it to WWEnglish and I've been doing my homework researching and reading, reading, reading through this website. Found the steps to do it thanks to Kleinemeus at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290241 and found the DOPODAU and LOVE ROMS as well the Extended Rom in the ftp site. As well as I found my P3300 is the same as MDA compact III, XDA Orbit, P800W, Dopod P800 ....
But I still a couple of silly doubts that I gonna ask for you MASTERS your mercy to clarify me with your wisdoom and expertise.
1) After flashing my P3300 with a English ROM will it have all same basic features/programs I have in French like, the radio, tomtom gps, etc ? In other words, doing this is like getting a desktop that came with windows in french and installing a windows in english ?
2) After being successful of flashing the Rom following the steps described in the link above by Kleinmeus how can I upgrade the Extended Rom found at the ftp ?
I really appreciate if someone could help me with these 2 questions.
Thanks in advance !!!
It should work
Be careful when flashing becos many ppl cant get it right.
If you manage to flash it successfully you should have almost the same functionality.
I dnt know abt the ROM.
Is ur phone CID unlocked? If not do it before u change the ROMS.It will be a big disaster if u get stuck in between and u cant do anything.
Yups, you'll have all the basic apps that are part of WM5.
Regarding TomTom or other Commercial GPS applications, these are not part of WM5 package and are installed by supplier, so you'll have to confirm whether the ROM that you are planning to flash has that specific GPS app.
Regardinf Extended ROM, these come as part of ROM that you will plan to flash. Usually people only take some specific apps/patches from other Extended ROM that wasn't part of supplied/flashed ROM (i guess I am right about this)

English Rom and Backup

Hello,
I have a HTP P3600 and the Rom is in Portuguese with GPS working.
Is it possible to convert Rom in Portuguese to a English Rom (specially because Portuguese Rom don't allow me to use Characters Recoginition Input Method).
I also would like to know, if anyone knows how can i backup the information in My phone (Firmware, Software, Data, etc).
Thx everyone
The ROM is your OS. Like on a normal PC - if you change the OS you can put a different language on it. Best thig is you probably have WM5 portuguese ROM and you can put English WM6 ROM instead. - This gives you an update at the same time!
This is the firmware! If you have the HTC WM5 Portuguese ROM - no need to back up, you can download and reflash the original ROM - have a look here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_Upgrades
it also shows you most of the WM6 ENG ROMS too - but have a good look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=359 to find the ROM best suited to your need. (You're gonna need a lot of time - there's a lot of reading to do!)
Your software should be re-installable if not already in the ROM - see a post called " a post for all the cabs " - there's plenty there!
You data should be backed up using Activesync and your PC. This should let you put WM6 ENG, you software and also your data back on your lovely Trinity if you flash a WM6 ROM.
Now go get readin'

Terminology ?!

Hi there,
I was just wondering if someone can explain few acronyms & terminology used here? Like what do they mean and what do they do?
- ROM
- Extended ROM
- Dumped or Modified ROM
- Cooked ROM
- Original Shipped ROM
- WWE
- Dump the ROM
- CID
- Radio
- Bootloader
I hope someone will take its time and help me to understand
Thanks a lot.
Have a look here
Thanks buddy,
I don;t know how did I miss that...
Cheers

New owner of HTC X7500

Hi guys! I have bought a HTC X7500 set which is running fine the wm5.0 and I would like to do an upgrade to wm6 before anything else. I have been doing some reading here on the forum, but still kindly ask for your advice:
1. Is it correct that upgrading to the stock wm6 ROM I don't need to deal with SPL and bootloaders as the stock wm6 ROM will do the complete job by itself?
2. If positive, can somebody please direct me to the download for the English or French stock ROM with wm6 for Europe? (I have seen that most of the links on this forum are dead)
3. If negative, then which unlocker is it best to apply? Would the CID unlocker with Athena Wrapper be enough?
4. Is the WM6.1 WWE 1.60 MiChY Full Edition a good and fast custom ROM please? Is it a big difference in speed and memory space compared to WM6.5 MiChY. The download links are dead, can somebody upload a copy please?
5. A link to download the existing installed ROM versions wm5 would also be welcome, helping me to get on the safe side with the current version.
My HTC ATHE100 was initially bought in Switzerland, therefore the wm5 is in French and the physical keyboard is of azerty type (strange!).
It appears to be SIM unlocked.
WM 5.1.465 build 15673.3.3.1
ROM version: 1.25.406.2
Radio version: 1.38.00.00
IPL-v1.00
SPL-v1.07.0000
Thank you!
Nobody???
