3G & Videocommunication missing :-( - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Why arent these features implemented? This device is no reason for me to change, cause i´m an owner of a magician.
Only the keypad and wlan aren´t enough arguments to change.
Does anybody know an comparable device with 3G & video in this formfactor at the moment?

This is not in the same formfactor he asked for...

The CDMA version of the Wizard (the Apache) has 3G (EVDO). It doesn't have video conferencing though.

Didnt think this was a 3g phone any way... and tbh what exactly does 3g give us... high speed data... ok cool.... but WIFI will be quicker... oh and vid confrencing... wow.... when everybody has it on landlines - may be... until then I strugle to find a use for picture messaging let a lone video..
Even my 2G phone ( Motorola 720i ) does me for work... and I work from home.
Also has any one thought that there may be 'business reasons' not to have a camera... I know of a few - namly security in some situations.
Terran
( Sorry for the rant .... just sort of came out... my point was does it matter that you cant vid conf... if thats what you want get a Universal... this I think is aimed at the middle market the same as the Wizard and thats never IMHO been marketed as a top of the range phone - mearly one that does a lot ).

The upcoming HTC Hermes model will have a front-facing video camera and a rear-facing megapixel camera, plus 3G (non-USA-friendly UMTS again like the JASJAR, I'm assuming).
So, the JASJAR had the videoconferencing you wanted, but the size you wanted in the Wizard, hold out for the Hermes coming out the first half of 2006.

Would be good if people learned that its not possible to measure performance just based on megahertz.
Dual processing , greater battery performance . Benchmarked already to perform better than the Magician . WM2005 helps out a lot here too , it's a design thing and the developers have listened . Battery technology is not moving as fast as chipset technology so enhance the processor and the operating system to compensate. Makes sence to me .
If your not convinced, then wait , I'm sure there will be loads of reviews coming up soon.
Shallax , I'm sure you've seen this but this what the wizard will be put on Ebay for.
HTC Hermes [Pocket PC phone]
- should be 1st half of 2006
- like HTC Wizard with slide QWERTY Keyboard
- Size also about the same
- video call camera on the top right corner of the screen.
- it s 3G (UMTS)
- Wi-Fi, IR & Bluetooth
- 2.1 Mpixels Camera (Behind)
P.S can't believe you haven't had a phone for amonth  Must be like giving up smoking
Yep, definitely sounds good... but I need a phone NOW! Maybe I'll upgrade later down the road ;p
And yes, being without a phone is pretty bad - having never smoked I can't really compare ;p

Possibly - we'll see. Im not holding out too much hope for this.

unfortunately the club I-Mate site won't let you download the manuals/view the faq unless you have a k-jam registered. So even the folks who have access to the site, but do not have a k-jam registered can't get to the information.

New skype for ppc

Someone tried the new version of Skype, released on the26th, on the Wizard?
yes we have, pls search the forum before posting...
like i said in another post, I tried the low_cpu version, but it had a very bad reception quality (althought the pc on the other side could here me pretty good, I couldn't here them very well on my wizard)
after that I tried the normal version (no low_cpu) and this one worked much better on the wizard. Once again this proved, although the wizard has only 200MHz (dual core), this can not be compared with other pda's. Speeds of wizard are comparable with 400MHz pda's with intel processor.
Seems like the Samsung processor used in the E-Ten M600 are very good too and much faster than the wizard processor...

Secondary camera usage?

Hi all,
I am contemplating purchasing this ppc but i wanted to know if the secondary video call camera can be used by MSN to make video calls using the WIFI.
This would be amazing if i could,
anyone knows please help
Thanks you
the pocket msn doesnt use the camera at all
I have an X7501 (no front camera) but I think Microsoft Portrait will allow video chat. Here's the link:
http://research.microsoft.com/mcom/portrait/
Wow thanks, i will check it out
This might be my next phone afterall
I read a little further on this software and it seems to do everything i need it to do. it appears that i can use the secondary camera for video calls using this software via WIFI or wap connection as long as its fast enough.
You can talk to others on MSN and create video chat sessions by only sending yours, or requesting other users, or both way so both participants can see each other.
Thanks again for the link!!!!
This app should work for all PPC's although i am yet to try as i have not had a chance yet.

X7500 Front Camera Envy?
I have the X7501 and now that the X7500 is down to $960 on mobileplanet, I am going through "front camera envy." The more people who tell me this feature is useless in the USA, the better I will feel.
Is anyone using the front camera in any way here in the USA (or anywhere else for that matter)?

The camera is for videoconferencing in 3G technology.
In the middle of the conversation you can change the image you are sending from the front camera to the rear camera so you can show the person you are talking something in front of you (back of the X7500). For sample when I'm talking to someone I can show that person the landscape I'm seeing. Or if some one want to report a computer error just change to the rear camera a point it to the PC screen and shows me the error.
I don't know... there are many samples where videoconferencing is a good posibility for the X7500.
I wasn't aware that the US taste of HTC Advantage, the X7501, got no videoconferencing.

mahjong

Man I'm from Europe and I'm not aware about how cellphone systems works in the States. Sorry.
In my case, in Spain, the 3 mayor providers got data plans and videoconferencing is considered data connections so goes in that plan.
But I can tell you at least in Spain and I think in the whole Europe since we share the same 3G technology (called UMTS) the videoconferencing on cellphones is being used much and much more everyday.
Now the European providers are instaling 3,5G technology called HSDPA which give you more bandwidth on the same prices so I guess video calls is a winning bet.
UMTS is 384 kbps and HSDPA us around 3.6 mbps bandwidth, just for you to know.

Touch2 Special Version - India (t3320)

Hi, I have P3400i (WM 6 pro) and am interested in buying the touch2 special version which has been launched in India some time back. I would appreciate if anyone here has used the phone and would like to share their feedback and experience with WM 6.5 OS.
excellent phone
its a good phone , but if u r some1 who enjoys flashing neww roms every now and then then i guess u sd opt fro sm thing else ...
Nice phone
Dear friend,
This is a nice phone. But it lacks 3G, GPS, G-sensor.
Other than it is excellent. Sound, speed, etc, are good.
wm6.5 is good. More titanium themes are found.
But if you want 3G & GPS, then go for HTC T3333.
but compare with other new Samsung win mobile models also.
Best of luck.
SURESH from Tamilnadu.
Guys,
I own this model & have been using it for about a month now. If you really dont want 3G & GPS, then this is the phone.
All the features are well integrated, the looks are quite cool (i like the interface)
Yes, you can compare this phone with its peers like samsuny but in my experience HTC is the best option available but thats just me.
here is my recommendation (or rather request),
go to a good mobile shop one which has live model, try you hand onto all the device & then choose.
Hope this help,
Regards,
HD

This conversation is about HTC touch 2 T3320
This is really a good phone
I have been using it since 2 months
No problems as of now
Only drawback is 3G, GPS
And also Loud Speaker is really bad-this is the only thing i observed
UI is really superb, touch sensitivity is also good.
HTC and iPhone are the 2 phones which have a very good Touch feeling.

Thank You All
Dear All,
Thank you very much for your feedback. I finally got Touch2 Special Version (HTC Touch2 T3320) and m quite happy about it. Though I miss the speaker volume of gene, this piece is decent in that regards.
I really didn't need GPS (I usually know where I am and how to reach where I have to go ) or 3G (the fight between govt and service provider still goes on regarding 3G spectrum and I don't think we will be getting it soon in India, by then it will be time for another model )
Thank you one and all and look forward to more interaction

I would say if you are here then you most likely bypassed your home network's settings, and have something custom installed at this point.
Whenever I meet someone using a 1.6 version, I ask to meet them later, and at the very least update them to 2.1.
Though now I am going to be recommending Z's 2.2 rom as it is mostly complete , and it is stable.
Though I am excited as to what our devs here are going to be doing with the 2.3 kernal
Why should i change ? And to which? They only good reason to switch a phone would be a better camera, HMDI out or 3D or Games! cuz Ardeno 200 realy is lame ^^
A Dual core Phone would be nice, But i'm not sure how good its gonn be used, by 2 or 3 games... or in mutli tasking ( and 3D Foto /Video).
I'll hope my X10 will last until i can get a Quad core phone
Oh, there might be ONE other reason to get a new phone! INFRARED! Can't you imagine how comfortable it would be, to come home, start Radio with your phone, change clothes, sit on the couch, and just press one button on your phone and radio mutes, TV put to on, switch to favortie channel.
And it would work on most radios/TV's/whatever! not like Wireless remote just on some brand new machines!

I thought gingerbread uses multiple core effectively or I'm confusing it with Honycomb?
I had a remote control app that used infrared on P910 also but I rarely used it.
The thing I miss most is voice dialing which a lot better on P910 and P990 although it was using tagging but dammit worked at least(direct and with bluetooth devices), now no matter whatever say x10 it show me four number start with 9999
yeah i really miss infrared on the new phones..android and infrared would make an unbeatable duo! used ir remote on p900, 910
Can't wait to install the official 2.3, congratz to devs
the only problem is that in most cases IR built in the phones is not the same frequency in the remote of your tv.tried at least 20 phones in the past years only p910 seemed to work fine.but it would be nice though then I can dump all of my 7 remotes at home
My 003SH has infrared

No, AT&T and most of the branded X10's will not get the official update. However, all you need to do is unbrand your AT&T X10a to global generic and you will be certain to get the official 2.3.3 Gingerbread update directly from PC Companion or SEUS when available.
If you haven't already unbranded to global generic and updated to 2.1, here's a step by step guide....
