video camera out of synch with sound - need to align - HTC Typhoon

I am using a 2005 imate sp3i and the video camera function seems to speed through its frames on replay.
Specifically, on replay, the video appears to skip 2x to the sound, so by the time the video has finished, the sound is lagging and carries on in 'real-time' thereby finishing much later than the video.
This happens on both playback on the sp3i, and when synching to the PC and playing back in another media player
The setting is zoom 1x; capture size is 176x144 and the format is video, not MMS
the version is 2.50 Build 17036

mp4 plays but no audio

Now I've read a lot here and I've tried Quicktime 6, mpegable ds decoder and 3ivx directshow filters.
They all work more or less (i like 3ivx best), but NONE of them plays the audio.
However the camera application on the ppc can playback video and audio.
What the hell is this? And I dont like Motion JPEG avi cause it's too big.
Converting also seems to be no option: I tried Riverpast Video Cleaner and a heavily upgraded virtual dub mod, but they can't even read the video. Quicktime Pro 6 can at least import the video, but no audio again.
Any ideas?
If someone wants to do more research, here are two good sites concerning mp4 players:
http://www.audiocoding.com/wiki/index.php?page=Software+Audio+Players+for+Windows
http://www.rarewares.org/
I've now tried WinMPG Video Convert and the Philips Platform4 Player - only video, as always.
I suppose the audio codec used is not the mp4 AAC LC (low complexity) codec because that's the most common one which can be played back by any mp4 player.
btw, mp4UI shows me a video and a audio stream (like most othre applications), but I can only export the video file and there is no information on the audio codec used, seems to be unknow to any program.
I tried several recorded mp4 files, always the same, and they DO playback video+audio on the ppc.
I'm sticking with MJPEG Avi
That's about 100 kB/s so I can hardly record more than 5 min. But hey who needs to? At least it can be converted by quicktime uncompressed avi export in no time, and then encoded to whatever you want.
More annoying is the fact that I need to remember getting the file off the pocket pc pretty soon because otherwise I will run out of space. I'd prefer taking a series of snapshots and carrying them around with me.
Well copying the file via USB will take almost as long as the video duration is, and a storage card can't be used because it decreases the recording frame rate significantly.
Motion MJPEG also seems to catch more redundant frames (the same picture in two frames) than mp4, but it's still okay.
cant you just record to your device and then copy the recording to your sd card manualy ?
Yes I thought of that, it would approximately take the same time as the video duration is. If you really need to do another recording while on the go, you can do that to free your memory.
btw, I chose divx5 250 kbit CBR + mp3 in virtual dub, only took a few seconds to encode a minute and now I've got a file that can be played back equally well on both machines. I'm using beta player for pocketpc, and it plays fine in fullscreen using the ati imageon chipset. File size is comparable to choosing the mp4 format in the first place.
It works now
mp4 video+audio works with quicktime!! hooray!!
Quicktime always told me it couldn't find the software needed on the server.
But when I opened the mp4 file today, the automatic download of the audio codec succeded.
Even with disabled firewall qt couldn't download the software before. Strange.
And I can export it to uncompressed avi if I need to edit the file with other programs.

I have the same problem with Windows Media play WMV's, the longer i watch the vid the more out of sync it seems to gets, normally the audio comes after the video, and the time just keeps increasing. then when i press pause. the video stops instantly and the audio carries on until it catches up.
However, if i plug the advantage in to the power surpply it doesn't seem to be as bad. It makes me think that it is due to the CPU speed, mentioned in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305214
But if anyone has any ideas about how to keep it in sync it would be appricated.
ive tried it with the power cable plugged in. still losing sync. just stopping and starting it corrects sync problem. i have now tried a number of rips. all converted in different formats. resolutions and bit rates still lose sync. anybody got any ideas
same problem here..anybody who knows how to solve this problem?

which version of TCPMP are you using?
doesnt matter which i use, even with coreplayer it goes out of sync
this problem i did not have with mda pro
im affraid this is all to do with the ati chipset and tcpmp, until a fix is found this is going to happen. the best i can get is about 4 minutes. and ive tried most variations in frame size, rate, and bit rate, even files which play at 120% still lose sync.
i went back to watching movies on my psp partly because of this and also as the picture quality is much better as well!
Strange. I use TCPMP to watch all the films and TV shows I download from torrents, and they all play fine. I've never had any problems with the sound going out of sync.
I also never have any out of sync problem. This device rocks for video playback, by my standard. I do lots of youtube and downloaded movies, and the picture is really really good with TCPMP.
I converted a dvd movie to avi 1400MB(high settings) and with this video i have no out of sync.Very strange is with 700mb divx xvid movies its going out of sync.
I've the sync problem too in coreplayer and tcpmp.

is it not possible to get codecs to add to pocket media player so it will play divx etc? As far as i know media player supports the graphics chip so performance should be better

if it was possible , someone would have done it woudnt they?
this problem is one of the major sucky things about this device
Posting to an old post, I know, but as I'm also having the audio/video sync problems, I thought I'd ask everybody that DOESN'T have the problem if they'd be so kind as to specify their EXACT settings.
In my case I'm using Core player.
Under Video I'm using ATI Imageon, Video quality = High, Smooth zoom = on, Dither = ticked and Accelaration = unticked (I have problems with it ticked)
Under Advanced I've even ticked Override AVI timing based on Audio, but no difference. I've also changed the A/V offset to -0.45 seconds, as per another post relating to this issue, with no result.
Under buffering my normal buffer size is 4192, set to preload at 70% underrun, with preload for audio set at 65 KB.
I've ticked Microdrive mode. with the buffer size being 16000 KB and the starting point being 1472 KB

bad skipping in movies

I have a 2gb micro sd card, so naturally i thought "ill put a movie on it" however when trying to play the movie it skips unbareably, the audio skips the video stops etc.
is this a common problem / is it easy to fix?
i am using tcpmp
herm 100
crc 9.1
thank you
I had horrible luck with TCPMP. For movies now I use a converter to put them into MP4 with XVid and play them back with WMP. No issues and crystal clear.
Did you set it to raw frame buffer?

I have mine set to raw frame buffer, and have no issues with the picture. Only issue is if I fast forward - the sound skips horribly.
okay i kinda sorted it..
basically the scroll wheel on the side plays a huge part.. when i rotate it it starts to play at full speed :S and no skips but then some weird lag in video/ pixelisation.. trying to sort it
Raw frame buffer causes major slowdowns in video playback for me.
I regulary watch movies or tv episodes on my hermes.
First, have you got the movie in the right resolution? Pocketdivxencoder will convert it down to 320*240 so your phone can handle it easily. I then had the problem that the hermes couldn't support playing the video and outputing the sound over A2DP, and solved this with coreplayer, which unfortunately isnt free, (about £15), but works perfectly for me.
converting it now will post results - thanks for the input guys.

QTV driver problem in core player

it seems that the driver is causing freezes in my X1 while playing and then stopping/pausing and resuming videos using core player
anybody else get the same problem?
any idea how to fix this?
I've not been using the QTV driver in coreplayer.
I've had the best results with the following:
1. Turning off the "TYTN 2 Driver mode" on the Qtv preferences page
2. Selecting "Direct draw" and "high quality" on the Video page.
3. selecting "RGB" as the overlay format on the Direct draw page.
I already hard reset and now it runs at normal speed, still not sure about the freezes problem, need more investigation and time...
but I'm curious as to what is the best config for X1?
Ben, u said u don't use qtv, then what do you use?
anybody else?
direct draw here
i did notice that my benchmark is better when i use Qtv instead of directdraw.
I watch Iron Man (800ish MB DivX) in bed on Sunday using Direct Draw and other than the gun firing scene it seemed to run pretty smoothly.
please, try to use coreplayer 1.2.5 diamond skinned edition.
this will work flawless on my x1. (touch-it hd firmware)
can u upload the cab?

I am facing the same issue too. This is my experience: Actually the X1 did not hang, only the screen hang. You can press the on/off button and you will hear the pop up window to confirm the shutdown. Just "guestimate" where the yes button is and press on the screen. It should shut down.

Using your settings, the video is playing back in slow motion!
Try mine:
Use QTv, set to medium quality, no zoom.
medium quality makes the picture looks bad.....
so we can conclude that core player isn't truly support X1 for now?
@nap007 same problem here, with qtv output.
DirectDraw @ medium quality works fine for me
a 700mb xvid,resolution somewhere round 640x400 played smoothly and
quality is still nice @medium
For me too qTV is the fastest.
qTv with unchecked Tytn II mode does not render any video.
DirectDraw with blitting is 10% slower.
DirectDraw without blitting does not zoom the picture.
All around it's slower 10-20% then TCPMP and my 2 years old Palm T5 ! Sure, it had only 320x480 resolution, but I really expected more in this area.
Only hope is CorePlayer will come with some better Xperia support soon.
here's my setting in Coreplayer that renders the video smooth
Video
- Video Output: QTv display
- Video Quality: High
- Smooth Zoom: Only for 50%
- Dither - Yes
Buffer
- Normal Buffer Size: 2400KB
- Preload at underrun: 70%
- Preload for audio: 64KB
- Microdrive mode: Yes
- Microdrive buffer size: 16000KB
- Microdrive starts at: 1472KB
Advance
Off: No backlight keepalive for video, Slow video memory, Less rotation tearing, High priority music playback, Override AVI timing based on audio, Use system volume, Capture all buttons, Keep screen on when playing audio
On: Prefer lookup tables over arithmetic, D-pad follow screen orientation, Prefer less buffering over framerate, Benchmark from current pos, Pause playback when making phone call, Unpause playback after call, Disable AVC deblocking filter
QTv
TyTN II driver mode - Yes

[Q] CM6 - Video Camera always encodes with h263

So here's what I have noticed - the video camera defaults to h263 with mpeg4 being grayed out (video quality default being 'High(30)'). I can choose to MPEG4 by setting the video quality to Custom - but even with it set at mpeg4 the captured videos are still encoded with h263 instead. Does this behave this way for others?

i can second this
I just checked some videos I made and they are H.263. This is one of the reasons I went back to the liberated rom. Doesn't seem like 263 is as compatible as mpeg4.
Yeah - I went back as well as I noticed vibrate didn't work. Still - 2.2 was great otherwise.
The camera in general is not very good in CM6 right now. This needs a lot of improvement. I am using Camera 360 app because it basically enhances the crappy photos that CM6 captures lol. They actually turn out pretty well this way!
