10) As the phone updates, please be patient at 99% as this may take quite some time!!
11) After succesfull installation, the phone will take pretty long to boot. You can just play with the scroll stick if you're bored... the phone will update as this is first boot (Cold boot), then it'll restart.
12) The Qtek ROM boots normally, and TADAAAA - you're done! icon_smile.gif

1.
Before you carry out the ROM upgrade, open the file browser on your phone.
Enable it to see hidden files: Menu > Options > remove the checkmarks from "Hide hidden files", "Hide system files" and "Hide files in ROM"
2.
Find the T9-file here:
\windows\T9Romaniandb.dll
This is the Romanian file - choose the T9 with your own language of course (i.e. T9Romaniandb.dll).
3.
Copy the file to your storage card (meaning your MiniSD), as this will not be affected by the ROM upgrade/installation.
4.
Upgrade - follow the instructions in the top of this topic...
5.
After succesfull firmware installation/upgrade, make a folder named T9 under \Storage\Application Data\
6.
Copy the dll-file be backup'ed on the Storage Card to this new T9-folder.
7.
Now search and install some regedit program
8.
Now the system registry has to be edited.
Open PHM Registry Editor on your phone.
9.1.
Find:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\MUI\Languages
Then choose to edit the string by selecting it and click on it - add ",0418" in the end. The comma (,) is important to remember! "0418" is the Microsoft code for Romania, so find the correct Microsoft code for your language somewhere
9.2.
Find:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\LDBs
Then add a "String Value", and set "Value" = 0418 and "Value Data" = \Storage\Application Data\t9\T9romanianLdb.dll
Once again, the 0418 may differ in your case - and the T9romanianLdb.dll may be named T9GermanLdb.dll or T9ChtuluLdb.dll or whatever... I don't know all the languages, neither do I know their Microsoft code...
10.
DONE! Reboot the phone, begin writing an SMS. Press and hold * until the menu pops up where you can now choose your own language! icon_smile.gif
If your language is shown, but you can't write anything - you propably did something wront in 9.2

If that's the case, then even Audiovox is wrong about their own band specs:

Re: YES you can you need to flash the phone with the HTC rom
Thanks for many tips. I have a question on this upgrade network bands. I just want to upgrade 850 to 900 so that I can use in Asia. If I use only English, can I skip the below section of Alternative T9? This will be a lot of work for my family to work on via oversea phone support from me. Please kindly advise

There is hardware difference in C500 and STM5600 which runs on 850. Difference is in switchplexer which in European models filters 900 and 1800/1900 MHz (Murata HA 165) and in STM 5600 (Audiovox) filters 850 and 1800/1900 MHz (Murata HA 216AW). You have to change switchplexer on the board if you want 900 MHz on Audiovox

Or HA 358 (EPCOS D1028) from Sony Ericsson K700... -> 900 Mhz

mendoza is right

[release] SpbWeatherUpdater 0.1 -- Weather Update despite Proxy-Restrictions (e.g o2)

Hi Guys,
i wrote a small C#-Application for updating SpbWeather (maybe it should work also with other Weather-Applications) despite Proxy-Restrictions (like Vodafone, o2 etc.). This program emulates a normal Wap-Browser (with an exact User-Agent) and downloads a Weather-html-File of your choice to your PDA. In combination with Pico-WebServer and some little tweaks , SpbWeather updates with this local file.
First of all, it is a beta program. Use this program at your own risk. I will take no responsibilities for malfunctions or/and unintentional data traffic (and costs). It should be working fine, but nobody is perfect.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, here is the Step-by-Step guide what you have to do:
1. Install the lastest Microsoft Compact .Net-Framework on your PDA (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=9655156b-356b-4a2c-857c-e62f50ae9a55)
2. SpbWeather
You need a actual version of SpbWeather (it should be with working with other Weather-Programs too, e.g. HTC Weather or PocketWeather)
3. Download the SpbWeather-Template from Spb-Weather-Forum (or somethere else) you want to use. I attached a working template for www.wetter.com
4. Edit the Template-File and search the line "open_url(.......)" . Edit the value in the brackets to open_url("http://localhost/wetter.htm", "GET"); (the name of the .htm - file its your choice).
5. Copy the .tpl - File in the templates - Folder of SpbWeather and add a new City with this edited Template.
6. Install Pico Webserver on your PDA ( http://http://www.tucows.com/preview/200784)
7. Start Picowebserver, goto Settings and edit the Alias Settings. You can choose the default path of the webserver or you can choose another path. But remember this path, we'll need it. Now start the Server.
8. Ok, now you need the WeatherUpdater. Just copy it to a location of your choice and start it. Go to "Settings" and configure the Programm. There are five entrys you can edit.
a. WebServer:
Enter the complete url of the weather site and your town: (wich matched to the template you use for Spb Weather). In my case the Url is: http://www.wetter.com/mobile/wetter.php?id=43367&type=WORLD (enter wetter.com/mobile and you can search your town)
b. Local Web-Server
Enter the Path to the Root-Directory of your Picowebserver (see 6.)
c. Name html-File:
Enter the Name of the htm(l)-file to download...it must matched with the name you edited in the template-File (see 3.)
d. Update on Start:
Downloads the html-Weather-File on Programstart
e. Update-Interval:
Choose an interval for updating the Weather-html-File. You can chosse values between 1 and 1440 minutes. (1min - 24h). Remember, it produces data traffic you have to pay for (or you have a flatrate etc., that's your own risk)) In my example, one update produces 15kb of data traffic. Check various templates with less traffic (maybe less weather info).
With runnig Picowebserver and WeatherUpdater in the background, you can now Update SpbWeather every hour.
What do do next:
-----------------
a. It would be fantastic to integrate the webserver functionality into WeatherDownloader. But i've to check out how to make a Webserver in C#. Maybe someone can help me
Please report any bugs or wishes for further versions.
b. automatic installation with a cab-file and AutoStart functionality
c. HowTo for other Weather Programs like HTC Weather and PocketWeather
d. and many many more features

Get the Hero keyboard without rooting!

Not sure if this has already been covered in the forum, but if not, here's how you do it:
Full instructions are in German here: http://www.mobiflip.de/2009/08/orig...e-root-auf-dem-magic-installieren-und-nutzen/
Quick and dirty translation (links for apps/files in the original link above):
1. Install eoeAppInstaller or ATRO file manager (I already had the latter so that's what I used)
2. Copy HTC_IME.apk to your sd card
3. go to menu, settings, applications, and check the box to allow unknown sources
4. Launch eoeAppInstaller or ATRO file manager, go to HTC_IME.apk, click it and select install
5. When it's done, exit and restart the phone
6. Go to menu, settings, locale and text, you'll see a new option called touch input. Select the check mark and go into touch input options to specify preferences. Don't mess with the calibration option as this doesn't work on the magic (I tried, it just force closes)
7. To activate the keyboard, go anywhere where you need it, e.g. start an sms, then click and hold the text box, select input method, select touch input (you can change back anytime in the same way) and that's it!
Enjoy.

Bypass T-Mobile WiFi Tethering Restrictions on Moto X 4.4.2 Root Req

Source for "Easy Method"
Tool Suggested: SQLite Editor by Speedsoftware.
If tethering is still working for you then you don't have to perform these steps.
I am not reponsible for any damages to your phone if you perform these steps, it's your choice, backup first.
Click to collapse

You must be rooted and on Android 4.4.2 with T-Mobile for this to apply for you. This method worked on my Moto X, but may not work on other devices and software versions.
An explanation of how this works and why it's needed:
T-Mobile has had a second APN (Access Point Name) built into Android 4.4.2 called "DUN" and it is meant to be used only when tethering. It's a way for T-Mobile to check and see if you are using your phone, or if another device is using your connection. If it detects another device, it will only load up a webpage on that device that asks you to buy a Tethering option or switch to a Simple Choice plan that includes tethering. What we will be doing is removing the need for built in Wifi tethering to use or create a DUN APN, and then removing the DUN apn for T-Mobile.
Let's begin.
1. Be rooted. If you have an unlocked bootloader, install CWM or TWRP and then flash Superuser.zip or SuperSU.zip in your recovery of choice. If you have a locked bootloader and you're on 4.4.2, you're currently out of luck. You have to unlock.
2. Open SQLite Editor, grant root for it, then under the APPS list, scroll down and tap on "Settings Storage".
3. It will search for databases and find "settings.db", tap on it.
4. While in "settings.db", select "global" from the list.
5. You will see a table with "id, name and value" columns. Tap on the + sign on the top right to add a new entry.
In the name field, name it: tether_dun_required
In the value field, write the number zero: 0
Tap on Save to save the entry, then exit the app.
6. Go to your APN settings (Settings, More > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names) and you'll notice two APN's there. One labeled "DUN" and one labeled "fast.t-mobile.com." Click on the name of "DUN" and you'll see all of its settings. Hit the menu key in the top right, and choose Delete APN.
7. The "fast.t-mobile.com" APN should be set to IPv4 by default on the Moto X, but on other devices it may be set to IPv6. You need to change this to make tethering work if it is IPv6.
8. Reboot and enjoy!
Your traffic will still be monitored for tethering! You should be using a VPN, proxy, User Agent Switcher, etc. to hide your tethering more effectively.
