Has anyone ordered this and tried it on a Vodaphone VPA ? Does it work ?
Thanks in advance

Got one in my car, works a treat for holding and charging it. The cradle's also got a telephone-socket-like port for a Serial GPS, but I use bluetooth so I've never used it.

Hi
Yes but which PDA do you have ? Is it a Vodqphone VPA ?

You posted in the "Himalaya & Andes" section, I'm using it with an XDA II.

Take a look at Brodit mounts on www.handnav.co.uk , you buy the type of holder you want for your PDA (powered/basic etc..) then buy a clip designed specifically for your make/model of car.
Each one is designed specifically for each car and just clips on to dash trim without screws etc..
Top notch kit

The one posted above uses a suction mount on the windscreen, been on for almost 2 months now and it's not fallen off once.

Ok, apparently it doe snot work with the Vodafone VPa, bu they have sent me one for this model and that works fine

check out a device called a berry from a company called SPcomms
Works with the XDAIIi and other models. really funky toy

Accessories list for the XDA Exec, with links to good deals

Hi all, just a quick question does the Xda exec have a cradle for it or is it USB cable connection for active sync only :?:
tia
No cradle yet from O2, although there's one on the Expansys website that'll be available in November: http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=126238&asource=127219
It's the car kit I'm waiting for. Now that I have a PDA that sits happily on the desk like an open laptop, a USB lead is fine for me I think.
See docking station here: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/7862.htm
hope the keep that price range ....

otherwise accessories would drain my pockets easily )))
Pretty reasonable price for the cradle though, normally they start off at £30+
Best regards lee
well, www.arkon.com do some Universal mounts (nb. Universal as in one-size-fits-all). I'm using the CM520 (I think - I'll check tonight) which I bought for my old ipaq 4150. It has 2 USB power connections on the bottom and a 3.5" speaker jack, with a speaker in the back. I have a usb to 4150 cable for it but I've just swapped with the usual USB cable that the XDA Exec comes with and it holds it pretty well. I'm a little tempted to add some velcro or something since the XDA Exec is quite porky, but I'll see how it goes for now. I don't know about handsfree though as it's not designed for it. I currently use a Jabra headset for the phone, Tomtom and a bluetooth gps for the satnav - this keeps everything charged and happy. I might get a bluetooth car stereo for the handsfree instead of the Jabra as it does chafe a bit during long journeys...
Does anyone know of any decent cases for the HTC Universal? I've seen a few at PDAir and Proporta, but I'm not 100% happy with them as I'd have to take the phone out of the case before putting it on the cradle.

www.dsldevelopments.co.uk for cradle search and pro clip search & online purchase.
Without trying to not to sound like a prick, but is the active holder, just the same holder but with a car charger, or maybe a car carger that maybe fixed to the back of the mount with a little lead you plug into the usb charging socket. By fixed i mean just to make it look neater, there is no power into or out o the holder
Hope that makes sence
John
i'm interested if it offers any GPS power plug in addition to everything else, this way it will be extremelly useful.
thanks.
The Brodit kits available are' passive ' only, as in they only hold the Exec, no inputs for chargers via the mini usb, and no one has yet built a product for a wired GPS or even a dual charging unit for Exec and GPS charging, as in the old arkon style kits. (wired GPS will not yet work via mini usb on the exec)
These are simply passive holders, where you use a cigarette lighter with usb port to mini usb to charge the device(using the supplied cable from o2 or buy an additional usb to mini usb lead)
The active holders are simply as above, but they have the cigarette lighter point to mini usb built into the cradle.........
hope that helps!
Just ordered mine... I'm trialling it for the company in my own vehicle whilst hoping our code monkeys can get our fleet / task management system working on WM 5.
Stand by for updates and photos.
Would you please post a picture of the holder.
Thanks

Hi Again,
Had a lot of enquiries, and stocks running low again, so need to know if anyone wants any so I can increase order from Supplier. They really do look and feel great, had the first few satisfied customers for this holder.
Thanks again
Are yours the modified one that now have a left speaker slot as shown on the above PocketGPS link, or do they have the speaker covered, muffled and therefore reducing in-car volume for SatNav considerably?
I was one of the first official suppliers in the UK, I got the 1st shipment a few days ago. Not heard of this as an issue on the ones installed, and certainly not in my car, but I have re-ordered additional stocks so after the posting on http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=30758 this has been rectified by brodit
Thanks, but sorry, it's not clear if the ones you now have in stock are rectified or not? :?
sorry for the confusion, as I stated, I had one of the first deliveries before this issue was noted by Brodit. My stock is exhausted of the 1st versions (no dual speaker hole) My new stock on order, due in next week has the modification.

Hi Bryson
Can you also send to the US ?
I would like to buy one from you. It seems like I can't get it anywhere in the US.
I would like to have the new one (with the hole for the left speaker).
How do I order ?

US orders: www.proclipusa.com
I can ship to the USA no problem, but i suspect the cost of shipping might be expensive compared to sourcing internally. However, happy to help if you need it.
Thanks
Proclip USA does not currently have any of the Jasjar/Exec mounts in stock. Only the K-Jam ones. Probably because the Jasjar is primarily a European device. I asked them and they do have some on order and may be in later this week.
Heard from Brodit, production started last wednesday on the new stock, inc official release active holders. Availability to the UK should be some time late this week/early next. This means deliveries may take a few days more than hoped from me. Sorry.
What about Me?
Hey Bryson,

Has any1 brought a cradle for jasjar?

Hi! iam planning to buy a cradle(with gooseneck option) for jasjar to use it in my car. i have looked for few options but if some 1 has had them can guide me better as to buy which one? i have had a talk from some 1 called david soppelsa(from U.K, using bryson as his id on this website) . He is selling brodit cradles..i wanted to ask if some one has brought the same from him? How are the brodit cradles? Your suggestions would be highly suggested.
Nish
I have a brodit passive cradle and it is great holds it very secure
I use the proclip (brodit versions in usa). I don't like the goose necks as they tend to move/vibrate a lot. The proclip have specific mounts for specific automobiles which fit and take only a couple of minutes to attach.
Allows you to use the universal in either landscape or portrait mode. I hook a cassette sound adapter to the uni's headphone jack and listen to mp3's or listen/watch tv via orb.com over my car speakers.
thanks for suggestions guys, but i have an suv ford endevour and they dont have a clip for that.. so no other option then goose neck..has any 1 brought any stuff from the above named guy?
Nishant
You can connect the Brodit/Proclip holder to a windscreen mount - there are conversion adapters between the HR system and Brodit.
You can also send a request to ProClip/Brodit to include the Endeavour in their offering.

ORA Car Pack for HTC TyTN II - Interest

Hi, I'm thinking on buying ORA Car Pack
http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=153768&asource=151727
They sell it for 27 dollars. Does anyone own this? Can someone give me a recommendation? I want to buy a cheap carkit for my kaiser, with 12v power included. I want to have it glue to my car dashboard or to my windshield with a vent mount.
Thanks in advanced
In the past I also bought car kits made for that specific PDA I owned by that time. The problem though is that - during your "PDA-life" - you spend a fortune on this so I decided to go for some "general" system like Brodit or Richter (see http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=156824). The advantage with this system is that you only have to replace the actual PDA holder rather than the complete system when you get a new tech toy - which is also less expensive.
I'm very happy with the Richter system now since quite a number of years.
Christian
Well interesting point of view but the ORA car park system, seems to be a universal type of holder and would as such suit their owners in case of pdas change
I'm curious about return of experiences too.
About that ORA system, but also about the Arkon CM799 http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=147464
which would seem to suit the TyTN II too.
As I'm thinking of having the Kaiser into some kind of hard plastic or rubber protector case, I think it's best I stay away from specific to the TyTN II car kit since the phone would be to thick to hold in the especially designed systems.
One question for you Eurybia though : does the adapter you got for the Richter system allows to have the ability to have the Kaiser keypad opened or closed at will ?
Thanks !
I dont like Arkon product. I bought an active charger before, but after not more than 5 months, the "spring" to hold the PDA was loosen (not tight anymore).

Nope.
And even when I think about this feature now I wouldn't miss that anyway. In times of bluetooth, voice dialing and more or less mainly GPS usage in the car I wouldn't use the keyboard while driving anyway. For me the most important thing is that the unit is fixed properly in the holder so it won't drop between the seats or alike even on rough roads.
My eyes are too bad and my fingers too big to play distant-mice-piano anyway.
Anyway, nor the arkon active holder nor the brodit (or Richter ) active holder costs 27 dollars. So I asked again to see if anyone owns one of this or if someon can recomend an active holder carkit for more or less the same price.

Portable car holder for TYTN II ?

anybody can suggest/recommed any car holder which are easily installed..I mean whenever I need to put the kaiser in any car that can be done so easily? are there such solutions available or custom made?
You're looking for one of the "Windsheild/Suction Cup" mounts. Just about any website that sells cases etc for the Kaiser will also have one or more of these.
