loss of bluetooth comms when screen saver/sleep activates - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I currently operate a O2 XDA 2 Mini with a Plantronics M3000 bluetooth headset which works very well until every 5 minutes (max setting) when the battery power saving "sleep" mode cuts in, I lose one half (my half of the connection). I can still hear the other party calling ....are you there? ... are you there .. etc etc. When I touch the RHside On button, full duplex contact is restored for another 5 minutes. A very bloody annoying issue. Any solutions ????

Yep i have the same issue, so do three other friends. Anyone got a solution, as this is most annoying!

Wait for rom upgrade or simply
You can either wait for rom upgrade or simply try this ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician/Bluetooth/Today_BT_profile_plugin.cab
Usage: Load this file into your mini after download, apply this cab file which would create a plugin on your today screen. After this "patch", in most cases, your bt conversation should not dropped while on sleep/standby mode.
From what I understand, the lastest rom is already at o2 hong kong and scheduled for release onto the o2 website soon. if not

bluetooth drops when ppc auto off while phone call connected

HELP! i've spent an hour looking thru bluetooth posts for someone having the same problem but no luck. here is what happens: i'll be on the phone, using my motorola HS810 bluetooth headset, and 5 minutes into the call the ppc will auto-power off. the phone call stays connected and i can hear the caller on the bluetooth headset but they can't hear me.
so, when the ppc auto powers off the phone works fine (as it should) but bluetooth drops. the only solution i have is set the ppc to not auto powe off, but then a calender reminder pops up, i don't see it, and my battery drains.
is there a way to set the ppc to not power off while a phone call is connected?
any ideas?
used to happend to me..
updated the rom which solved the problem.
great to hear, i've been reading up on upgrading my rom. all the posts i've followed say i will require 'romupdate.exe'. becasuse the read me file is in german for the mda rom upgrade i found on the site i cannot tell if ths file is inclueded in the zip or not. do you know if i need to download rom upgrade software to perform this operation or is it part of the zip package?
thanks
Hi,
I'm using ROM version 1.03.00 WWE on my I-mate Jam. Which rom is required to avoid the 8 minute bluetooth mic loss?
Thanks,

TyTN Bluetooth | Random car disconnect

Hi all,
I know there are plenty of threads about the TyTN bluetooth issues, but my questions differs in two ways which I have yet to come across:
I do NOT have M$ VoiceCommander installed (and don't want to install it)
My bluetooth issue relates to my car's handsfree feature - my TyTN randomly connects and disconnects. Apparently Audis, VWs, BMWs, and Acura's all suffer from this this problem.
The situation:
When I start my car, the phone will successfully merge with my TyTN. Approximately 30 to 60 seconds later, the connection will be lost. Shortly after that the connection will re-establish itself, then it will disconnect itself a short period later. This pattern repeats endlessly.
I've tried each of the following Tweak programs but none have helped.
jetwaremobile
Tweak2k
HTweakC
I've heard that there is some kind of registry tweak that will prevent the bluetooth stack from disconnecting from my car's handsfree feature, but after looking for about 2 days now, I can't find it. Can anyone help?
thanks.
jm
Yep, got exactly the same on my BMW 630....
Can t find any tweak but....
I am a heavy email user (thru BlackBerry connect) and I noticed that
the higher the number of messages stored, the higher disconnections appears.
At the same time, the TyTn is slower and slower....so my idea that this is related to some timeouts somewhere....
For your complete info, the MS bluetooth stack in my previuos S100 have able to.....immobilize my 630 !!!!!!!!! yes, incredible...
The MS stack messed up with the BMW bt ...and this later would stay ON for ever...even after switching car s power off.
This was sucking the car s battery untill the car would start !...
BMW could not reset the BT module unless disconnecting battery....but...then the active steering had to be re adjusted with the proper BMW computer...
This is a real story.

TyTN bluetooth | random disconnect when using car handsfree - more details
Thanks for the replies so far.
Although the following thread did not help me with my problem, it might help one of you. If you're having problems mostly related to issuing voice commands using M$ VoiceCommander, I think there *might* be a solution in that other thread for you.
Just to reiterate my problem; my TyTN keeps randomly connecting and disconnecting from my car's built-in hands free bluetooth device.
There was a time when if i managed to made a call after first starting the car - before the first random disconnect - the phone would remain connected until the next time I started the car. That no longer appears to be the case.

I solved the BT problem with my Orange SPV M3100 by setting it to never switch off the display automatically (only switching off the backlight after 20 seconds or so). I also use an in-car charger to power the TyTN. The car is an A6 with RNS-E (BT enabled) and TyTN works fine and never loses the BT connection as long as the display is active.
This is a mid-term solution though and I'm still eagerly waiting for a ROM update that will solve the problem for good.
Has anyone tried a ROM with aku 3.3?

Yes.
And on my CK3100 I now no longer get disconnects. I did have to uninstall jetware as it wasn't reliable. My TyTN now connects perfectly and no longer drops.
One thing I did find is that the TyTN hates it when more than one handsfree device is in its trusted list. Make sure that the ck3100 is the only handsfree device paired.

I've tried changing the automatic switch off setting and it made no difference on my SPV M3100 (with Parrot CK3100) - I reckon that the external power is what fixed your problem (this has worked for others too).
Sadly it's not a convenient fix as I like to leave my phone in my pocket when I'm in and out of the car. Orange say there is no 'issue' so there's no sign of a ROM update but HTC know of the problem but I have to wait for Orange to release their ROM update. I can't use the HTC update. If only us Orange users could tell them enough times they might listen now that some AKU 3.3s are being released. Orange technical department won't speak to end users like me - they have actually refused to discuss it with me and just pass messages back and forth from customer relations. Any other ideas?
A solution - thanks to Parrot
Yippee - thanks to Parrot I have got a solution to the TYTN / CK3100 problem (my phone is the Orange SPV M3100).
As Orange and HTC can't find any solution I kept asking Parrot for ideas. Their excellent customer service department tried various settings which made no difference until I was offered a trial of some beta test software called VCF creator. Once you have the VCF from the PC's Outlook you just need to beam it by BT across to the CK3100 and alter some settings (takes 5 minutes maximum). The small sacrifice is that you don't have auto-synchronisation so if your numbers change a lot you will need to do another VCF upload. The extra bonus benefit is that all your numbers will be grouped together. So, for example, you access someones name and then you can see their mobile/home/work number rather than having a separate line in the main list for each phone number. The problem is a result of how Windows Mobile phones provide the data. With this bonus you can then use voice activation to input a name followed by a keyword mobile, home, work etc. Fantastic!

If you use the Jetware BT software you can do the same thing e.g. beam the whole contact list in one go and then set the Parrot to not sync by choosing the Ericsson No Sync profile. This is how I have mine set up, also with the Jetware software it sends over the Service Provider, Battery and Signal strength settings to the Parrot, something which the native stack doesnt do.
Solution for this
Hey all, i have purchased a parrot 3100, the software in it was 1.6, i had the same problems but it's greatly and successfully solved using the new jetware 1.3 . i don't know if i can post some linx here, but here you go, if this is illegal for this site please remove them

bluetooth car handsfree disconnect issue

ok.. I read a couple of threads regarding this issue but could not find any solutions. one guy said that ak3.3 fixed his problems but 3 have a spv m3100 and I don,t know wich update pack should I choose besides cingular wich doesn't have video calling.
Any thoughts?
Doesn't anybody have the same issue and managed to solve it?
I had the same issue when I upgraded to WM6, I fixed it by installing the GPS radio ROM. This fixed it straight away.
In installed the latest 1.35 ROM and that did not fixed it and even with XDA live that did not work. Where can I find the GPS Rom?

My 8525 was disconnecting from my car constantly after getting the phone a few days ago. My TyTN never had this problem. Even after installing the exact same ROM onto the 8525 that was on my TyTN I still had the same problem.
Basically, after a minute or two of being connected to my car the bluetooth on the phone would turn off. It didn't just disconnect. It turned off completely. This phone did it just like the Treo 750v (very unreliable phone by-the-way) did.
The problem appears to have gone away now that I have installed WM6 on my 8525. I have not done anything special to get it working aside from installing the LSVW WM6 ROM. It is definitely worthwhile to give it a try.
I believe that 1.35 is the "GPS enabled, but not initialized" rom.

I had it fixed by changing the registry values for bluetooth power saving. Upgrading to VM6 and to radio rom 1.35 (gps enabled) bringed back the problem... now I cannot find anymore what registry value I had changed...

Try this:

Ok I tryed the small fix on that link and did not work at all. I also inslled WM6 LSVW and still nothing. Any other ideas?
Try this: "jetware.hands-free.extension.1.24".
Installing the leaked Cingular ROM fixed the problem for me. Prior to this, it would connect briefly, then disconnect, and would come and go, but mostly would not connect. Now, every once in a while, it disconnects very briefly, but for the most part is solid.
Tryed jetware but still no go. Any other idea? doesn't anyone that has a hermes use a car handsfree bluetooth system? From what I know all devices suffer from this?
Nothing? Hasn't anybody found the solution to this problem? From what I read it happens to almost all hermes devices.
Yes, had the same problem.
Have a SPV M3100 with the Audi A4 Bluetooth (part of Gen II GSM Prep).
My old MDA Vario worked flawlessly.
SPV3100:
1. Pairs and makes / receives calls.
2. After 10-15 Mins calls are not routed through car kit.
3. When making / recieving call after 10-15 Mins, handset thinks its connected to handsfree (headset symbol in phone dial pad) but car does not pickup call hence no handsfree and no sound in handset ear piece!
4. Occasionaly, handset reconnects to car handsfree automatically on an incoming call.
5. Connection of in car charger SEEMS to improve realiablility.
6. Switching Bluetooth off then on on the handset will initiate a new connection that again works for 10-15 Mins.

I get the problem with the new rom also, have been using it for weeks now. The new ROM does NOT resolve the issue, at least with the Acura HFL system.
So it seems that there is currently no fix to this issue.

Thank you for your enquiry. An IMEI check of your device indicated that it is a network branded phone.
IMEI:? 357719003647231? Network: Orange Romania SA
Unfortunately we do not offer technical support for network branded handsets, as both software and hardware can be altered by the network provider.

How do you stop BT turning off ?????

Hi,
Can't find anything in any other threads so here goes..
My M3100 (TYTN) turns bluetooth off when I turn off my Sony HBH 300 BT earpiece.
It doesn't happen everytime, maybe 50% of the time. It wouldn't be a problem but during the working day I connect and disconnect maybe 10 to 20 times and when I get back on the road and fire up the earpiece I suddenly find no BT.
I'm normally not in a place where I can safely stop to go through the connections screen to re activate it....
Not had this problem with any other phone, Nokia, SE etc...
I think it also happend once or twice after turning off my TomTom One whilst running the traffic BT connection to my phone...
It is getting to be a pain, so much so I'm considering using a OLD Nokia instead of the M3100. Only advantage is the M3100 allows more than one BT connection at the same time although you do have to connect the BT earpiece before connecting to the TT One unit...
Any ideas how I can stop it turning off without ME actually turning it off, never happens anyway, I just leave it on...
HELP !!
Phil-w
I have a similar problem and would love to find an answer before my 30 day return period is up! I haven't been able to find out WHY my BT radio always shuts off, but about half of the time I get in my car the BT is off. This - and the MS Voice Command hack not working with my particular HF - is going to make me return this thing.
BTW, I have Cingular 8500 with stock WM5.
Worked for me
Hey guys. I had a similar problem a while back.
I had installed a comm manager, and my BT was randomly shutting off. After getting some responses, I uninstalled the updated comm manager, everything has been working fine ever since.
I would recommend following the same course of action. If you don't have the original installed, maybe try installing a new one.
I recommend keeping the phone. It's great. There is SOOOO much you can do with it. If you are unlucky and got a lemon, that's a different story.
But I do not think this problem is common... good luck.
Last week I updated my ROM to the latest official AT&T release, and my BT problems *appear* to be solved.

Bluetooth still doesn't work properly!

My X1 has a very annoying problem with it's Bluetooth. During a call using Bluetooth handsfree the phone will drop the Bluetooth connection, leaving the call connected so annoyingly the caller can hear me cursing the unreliability of my phone. I then have to finish the conversation holding the phone to my ear without the headset.
I called Sony Ericsson, who told me to update the firmware. I did - to R2AA007 - makes no difference. They then said it was a defective phone, so I got a new one sent to me...
...this one has worked great for a month, but yesterday the battery ran almost flat and whilst on a call using handsfree it started playing up again. Now it does it all the time again, even though the phone has been fully recharged and rebooted.
I have been very careful not to change any settings with this second phone, no installs of anything. This is a Vodafone UK phone if it makes any difference. Any idea how I can get this working again? Even without the handsfree connected I can see the display flash 'Bluetooth on' at random intervals indicating that it keeps dropping. Sony Ericsson say that this is not a firmware issue that needs fixing now - what do you guys think?
there are many posts regarding your problem. one thing is for sure, you are not the only one. look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480698 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471181 here too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448703 i have my mbw-150 and my hbh-pv712 connected at all times to my x1 the watch is always connected but my headset disconnects randomly as you mentioned even during a call. there is no problem with your phone it's a software issue.
Thanks for the links. What annoys me is that Sony tell me there is no problem and they won't report the bug to their firmware team because "it's been fixed in R2A". This isn't the case, and it doesn't give me much hope for firmware R3A.
Same problem here
I experienced the same problem. Got my X1 in december 2008. Problems started in mid Januari, about a month of good Bluetooth operations, it started to give problems. During a call the Bluetooth connnection is lost, but the call stays open. Can reconnect Bluetooth again during the call, but after some time (sometimes seconds, sometimes tens of seconds) the connection get lost again.
Was glad when the new firmware arrived in Feb 2009. Download it, and the problem was gone fore about one month. Mid march the problem started again. Downloaded (the same) firmeware version again and the problem was gone again for some time. Last week it reappeared again
My conclusion: the Bluetooth bug wasn't corrected in the latest firmware version. Just reinstallation of a new firmeware version resets the phone and the the problem is gone then for some time.....
Seems that there some kind of an internal timer/counter that corrupts good bluetooth operations. I don't want to reinstall "firmware" every time again because I have to reconfigure my phone then every time, which takes a lot of time.
I hope that Sony finally will correct this most irritation bug!!!!
In the mean time I use a Bluetooth restart programme that "turns on" bluetooth every second. This helps moth of the time.
This works for me
In the Bluetooth-Device-Manager tap and hold the stylus on the headset you want to use until a popup is shown, then select use as headset. This worked for me when i have had some problems with one of my headsets supporting more than the "Handsfree-Profile" .
=> better connection under R1, best connection under R2(using R2 since official release)
Good luck WOODY
Hey Guys,
I think i have the solution for the bluetooth problem. i had my Xperia since 11/2008.
i never had a problem with connection when i used my headset. the problem was with the I-Drive disconnection randomly.
I flashed multiple roms from Itje and Jack with the same problem always.
now for the past 2 weeks i have been using Itje V5.5 with no problems what so ever.
the key is to turn bluetooth off in the comm manager everytime you wanna install new programs. i truly believe that installing software with the bluetooth on disrupt something ???
Hope that helps.

@mdshaded
I hope youre kidding, I've had BT problem (BT turns off) since I got this phone last year.
With Itje's WM6.5 RC1 I still have the same problem.
I am not Kidding, I tried all cooked and original roms. I had a pocket PC phone for the past 3 years: Trinity, Kaiser and now the Xperia.
Again my dropped BT Connection were with my Car BT system, never with my Stereo BT headset.
try to hard reset and then install Itje V5.5 and keep your BT off until you are done installing all your programs then turn it on and report back.
Cheers

I had tried more phones (Eten M600, Asus P525, Kaiser, X1), and did a lot researchs and only HTC's one (Kaiser, X1, Diamond, TP, HD ...etc) gives such issue. Not on my Asus P525 and M600. And I had tried many A2DP devices (Sony: DS-205, DS225, DS970, DS980, Clip-D Radio, Jarba (forget what model), JVC-BT1 (car system)) and only HTC devices give me issue.
And your suggestion of turn off bluetooth while software installation make no sense as installation only perform files coping + registry registration which I don't see any relationship from BT issue.
Dear Jack,
I know it does'nt make any sense. but i had this problem on other devices and was always corrected with a cooked rom except with the Xperia..
there is nothing to lose.. just try it..
my phone had no single dropped connection for 2 weeks now.
All the Best.
what bluetooth issue, ive been using hbh ds-200 since ive got the xperia (used on buses, around the house and alot of places) works great and has a further distance than p1i but only has an issue of button compatability. i think it could be the the bluetooth device ur using or the lack of software. may be wrong completley but hear me out ive had it rnning for ages with music on or durig a phone call cause i cant be bothered to pull out of its case to avoid scratching the phone (i know its stupid) but like i said it is working, for me atleast
same problem ...
I'm experiencing the same problem:
my X1 periodically drops the connection to my BMW iDrive while I'm speaking. But, when I'm not in the car I'm using a plantronics voyager 855 and never had a problem ! So there seems to be a problem with specific bluetooth devices.
Before the X1 I had a touch diamond and it worked without any problems with the same iDrive.
Thomas
Dear Thomas,
i am glad that you mentioned your problem with the I-Drive. I did not have a single drop in BT Connection for 2 weeks now. I truly believe that installing some software impairs the BT connection with my I-Drive.
Again never had any problems with Headsets.
My I-Drive Version I believe was newer than V.25.
Cheers.
