HOW TO update to latest radio rom? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

hello,
I'm new to this,
Can anybody tell me how to upgrade to the latest radio rom?
What is the latest rom and how can I do it?
thanks so much

latest radio is 1.18.00. You would have to update your OS rom as well ( or do an upgrade with the same os rom combined with 1.18 radio)
loads of info on the forum about this

are we talking about magician (Qtek S100) or Himalaya (Qtek2020) here?
for himalaya it's 1.18
for magician could be 1.18 but i haven't been following this, since I don't have one

yes imate jam.
If I update my rom, won't I loose all my programs specific to my phone?
I have lot's of extra's on it, and contacts etc,...

from my experience upgrading only the radio don't do much anyway: phone and internet work just the same. So unless you have problems I wouldn't do the upgrade...

the main reason is because the sound quality of the phone is terrible. I hear the people like in a tunnel. I difficult to have a long conversation this way. So this wouldn't help :-/

ActiveSync will put your contacts, calendar, etc back on automatically.
You can also use Tools | Add/Remove Programs in ActiveSync to reinstall your programs.
It's not a piece of a cake, but doing a ROM upgrade isn't the worst thing in the world.

M500 noob questions

Hi,
i have just got my first magician device - the SPV M500 and have a few questions. is it worth updating any of the roms like so many of these posts talk about? although i purchased it on orange and it has all the orange branding i mainly use my o2 sim - should i look at using the o2 xda mini rom? or am i best just sticking with what i have?
also what programms would people most reccomend for the magician devices? as i want to get the most out of it! also is there a better software for backing the phone up than activesync?
thanks and sorry for the stupid questions!
Tom
anyone?
I always say: if it aint broken, dont fix it
I dont follow the rule myself, I like to tweak and patch my device until its to my satisfaction....the default configs are just horrible imo
but if you dont know what yer doing...be carefull with upgrading
for software I have a few apps I cant do without:
WebIS Pocket Informant 2005 - a PIM application
phoneMax PhoneAlarm - Advanced profile setup
Wivit SIM Status Switcher - for switching between SIM cards when using a dual SIM adapter
SPB Weather - I like to know the weather...this is a Today screen plugin
SBSH Pocketbreeze - displays your tasks and appointments on the today screen
Get some backup software and then you can play to your hearts content.
However, I went from 1.11 to 1.12 without noticing any differences, so I'd concur, don't mess unless you feel you really need to!
Do the bigstorage hack though. And if you're doing that, you might as well rom upgrade at the same time.
V
I had the same debate over my m500.
I used it for around 3-4 days just how it was supplied to me, to see if it was stable (which it was) the rom that was supplied with my m500 was 1.06 (found in start>settings>system>device info) I have kept this version of the rom, but upgraded the radio rom to 1.13 and also hacked it to give me big storage.

win mobile 6 on herald?

many roms of wm6 are around on known sites for specific models.is anything for our herald too?ive read that there is going to be an official update to wm6 of this model so there must be something around, even beta.
Mhhm, i couldnĀ“t find anything by now....
Lets wait a little, i think HTC is going to release something for us, soon
No one cooking any roms for the Herald tho?
doesn't look like it, i looked into porting one of the wizard roms but i didnt get very far! its definately possible to flash your own roms though. Also its worth remembering that HTC have promised us wm6 roms before June. I would much rather have that than a pre-release wm6 rom as the ones that are avaliable for the wizard, hermes etc.
As far as i know, everyone is content with AKU 3.2

well i have used crossbow on my wizard and the only difference i see are pretty icons and html mail. i dont really care about either, and more importantly my herald is very stable, cant remember the last time i had to soft reset never mind hard reset. so thats why i can wait until htc do their thang!
I hear one handed uses on WM6 is way better and that windows update feature looks very promissing.
O2 may be releasing an HTC Herald as O2 XDA Terra, with WM6 on it.

HTC Herald (aka Tmo Wing)
I bought a T-Mobile Wing 2 days ago (obviously it has WM6 on it) Where-as it is stable - I am rather disappointed that they removed the native VoIP support - thus I am waiting for someone to cook a ROM and put it back in so I can do the Hybrid Cell/VoIP thing that I was Previously doing on my Wizard (MDA) - I still have my Wizard which I use strictly for VoIP at home.

Htc Audio Booster for Wizard?

I saw it on a post for Herald (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308773&post=3) and tried to install it on my 8125 but it doesn't work. The installation can run through. However no function is in effective.
Does anyone have more info about it? Can we make it work for Wizard?
I SECOND that request how the heck is this suppose to work i have been trying to use it on my 8525?
its an app u run from the programs menu, looks like a small mixing board if im not mistaken.... just helps to kick more life out of the phones speakers....
im not sure what went wrong with yalls installation, works just fine on my mda, thought its only a small improvement

Hi, Greyzter: you are the only one that reported it work on a Wizard. Could you kindly list some details about your device such as hardware version, OS, etc. so we can compare? I have a Cingular 8125 (Wiza100, G3) with NBD 7.1 ROM (WM6).
The installation is fine. Some noticable things include 1) change media manager theme, 2) cannot toggle "equalizer" and 3) no effect when selecting any preset or change the sliding bars.

That is what I am thinking as well. If this is the case, it won't work unless some one can work out correct driver.
The bottom line is: we need an equalizer for playing music but neither WMM nor Htc Media Manager has one built-in. Install another media player would be the only way to go but it is not preferred.
so the bottom line is htc audio booster is not compatible to wizrd or hermes?

rom- 2.26.10.2
radio - 2.25.11

T-Mobile Wing Users (aka HTC Herald) would like to know also . . .
If this HTC Audio booster app will work, please PM me and let me know or just respond here if anyone gets this working successfully, and what must be done to make it work.
Thanks.
This program is already made for the herald, wizard and hermes users are trying to get it to work for theirs, here is link to the thread:
scroll down a bit to find the cabs in post #3.

ROM 1.66 versus 1.48

Hi all,
The Dutch version of the 1.66 ROM has just been released and I would like to know what are the main differences between 1.48 and 1.66. Is it worth to upgrade and install everything again (a hell of a job).
Tnaks in advance, Kuzibri
I think the best thing for you would be reading through this forum... There are at least 10 threads that handle your "issue".
I know, I have done that for most of them, but I'm, of course, mainly interested in the findings of members that already used the leaked Dutch version. There seems to be differences in ROMS between countries.
The biggest changes are:
* SMS Bug fixed
* Lock Screen works now
* Proximity Sensor seems to work all the time now
* Device runs smoother
at least for me
thanks for your kind and fast reply.
The dutch version is out :O Thanks for telling, vriend
I would like to know if 1.66 is worth it or not as well. Talking about the Dutch version. Also a noob question: all your installed programs (games, tweaks, etc) will be gone right? Everything that is on your SD card will not get removed I assume? And will all programs work normal or do we have to wait for all the programs to get updated to roon on 1.66?
Would appriciate the help! Kind regards.
Games, Tweaks, etc will be deleted! SD is untouched..
Most/all of the programs work! There is an issue with the battery % indicator but theres already a fix for it!
Before you upgrade, backup your contacts, calender and other important stuff ( notes or whatever)

Thank you very much for this information. Will have to search for that battrty % fix because I use a custom notifications bar (the default one is ugly imo) which includes a nice 1% battery indicator.
So overall, it is good to go 1:66. Just going to have to start over after upgrading. Maybe a good thing so I can get rid of all the junk I dont use: a general cleening process

There you go
1.66 seems to hang more if you still revert to the old SMS GUI...

you're absolutely right by that. But the link is here:
http://www.htc.com/nl/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=297&act=sd&cat=2
A bit weird though that this ROM update is not present on the general HD2 support site (where you normally can find all updates for the HD2), but that it is placed(you would almost say: is hidden) in the ROM update category.
Thanks... works like a charm!

It doesn't run as smooth like in the old version, lags many times

Which Radio would be better on this Stock rom? Does it hurt the device software?

Hello,
Should I flash the 1.66 ROM to my HD2 (romania)?
The official web download said that the update does not apply to my serial no.
I experience hang-outs especially after ending a telephone conversation.
Please help.

New UK HD2 O2 ROM Version:1.72.206.3

Has anyone tried this rom I know its only been out a week or so but was just asking to find out if anyone had any problems with it before I put it on my phone.
Don't want to hijack your thread, but: will O2 ROM work on non O2 HD's?
God knows mate Just go on the HTC site if you want a update and have a look.

I've found the difference between 1.43 that i had before and the new 1.72 is massive. Its much much smoother i haven't had any probs so far
RReckless
I have been trying to update ROM since I've had the HD2. Im with O2 and when on the HTC website where it asks me to input serial number, it says device not compatible for this update. Any idea how I can get round this? It seems I won't be able to upgrade my ROM at all.
Cheers
works fine. no issues, and worked correctly after putting in serial number
What radio version is in the new O2 ROM?
already a few pages thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671197
Ok just installed it and well can't see what's new. A bit faster and that's it no fixes no nothing. What a let down.
can anybody with this ROM on their HD2 go to
People / all people/ Updates and events / Menu
Please let me know if you have any option there to sync FB with more than once contact at a time. My old (non 02) rom let me sync all my contacts in one tick box frenzy. Now it seems they want me to do each one seperately.
