QTEK S100 Memory Specification........128 MB optional ? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I have looked at the different specs for the I-mate Jam, MDA Compact and Qtek s100 and it seems that only the Qtek s100 has mention of an optional 128 MB of RAM........for loading up all the nice extra bits of software, this would be worth getting....
See specs at www.qtek.ch
I have asked around and I cannot get confirmation that this is a real option. The I-mate and MDA sellers do not mention it.....
Can anyone confirm if 128 MB SDRAM is a real option on the Qtek S100 or just an error on the spec sheets ??????

sent mail to qtek.ch
answer :
128MB Version doesn't exist, but with the SD 1GB price...

Orange SPV M500 - novice questions!!!

hi all,
simple questions i know but i just wanted to make sure of a few things before i go ahead and purchase this!
is the SPV M500 basically the same as the imate jam and Qtek s100 etc??? because i hate all the orange branding crap they put on their phones so will be lookin to put the qtek or imate rom onto the phone asap! will this be possible? i also need to unlock it so i can use a dual sim adapter and use both my o2 and orange sims in it - will the unlock solution for the rest of the magician devices work for the spv m500? has anyone tried?
secondly have people used Tom Tom 5 with this phone? can you report if the devices worked well together and give a stable solution?
thanks and SORRY for the stupid questions!
Tom
svp 500 vs qtec s100
the svp 500 is similar to the qtec s100, but not the s100. The svp 500 is also known as the Qtec S110.
I might be talking under correction here, but I understand the S110 has a new ROM which is not the same as the latest S100.
I don't think there is much difference the 2 phones, other than that your memory is 128 instead of the 64 for std qtec s100s. The outside of the svp has also changed slightly, so has the colour.

This is not true! the Orange M500 is exactly the same as the MDA Compact, Qtek S100, VPA etc. The only thing that is different is the looks. The M500 is somthing less round and is in darkish gray. The Qtek S110 is a Qtek S100 with 128Mb Ram Thats it!
thanks for that rvbcrs,
I did mention the differences which were the same as yours.
For instance, you can not buy the mda compact / vpa compact / ijam or any of the other's stylusses, since they've changed the s110's stylus and it will not fit. I've also been told the the Rom is versioned otherwise, which may be so / not.
It is really the same thing, but what i tried to say is that it is definately improved (only a bit) and like the rom hacks might be different.. those type of things.. but hey, if you've got the same phone you probably know better.
thanks again for your input on this
The vpa compact/orange spv have much better sound quality than jam/mda etc! Also they are only 64mb just different housing!
The vpa compact/orange spv have much better sound quality than jam/mda etc! Also they are only 64mb just different housing!you'll be able to get rid of most of the orange "crap" once you get it.Just go to add/remover programs and remover the orange software that gets rid of the visible things + interface etc
thanks very much for the replies guys!
in general does anyone have any experience of Tom Tom navigator 5 and any of the magician devices? do they work well together? i have heard that tom tom 5 drains the full processor power for the entire time it is running which has led to critical overheating of some devices and the phone functions and for that matter any other functions cant run at the same time due to the work that tom tom 5 puts on the processor!!! is this true?!
thanks,
Tom
i'm running tt5 on my vpa.it works fine.lt does use a great deal of the cpu but you can't use other programs when the navigator is on anyway!no overheatirg problems.tt5 works better than tt3 for me when all patches are applied as l struggled to answer calls on tt3 as it ran so slow but tt5 is better!pm me for more

that upgrade is for the magician not the wizard.
the wizard has 128mb ish
PPCTechs has said it is not possible to upgrade the Wizard because of the changes to the OS and how it handles memory.

Not so subtle Differences between HTC Tytn and I-mate JasJAm

I was comparing these two renditions of Tytn at PDAdb.net and came accross something that cought my attention. Check it out at http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id1=506&id2=491
While the HTC rendition (tytn) sports
ROM: 128MB, 57.08MB usable
RAM: 64MB SDRAM, 48.8MB accessable
The I-mate version (JAsJAm) only grants you
ROM: 128MB, 51.0MB usable
RAM: 64MB SDRAM, 28.0MB accessable
I know it can probably be fixed using some sort of tweeking, but I ask: What's the point in skimming on RAM? Do the folks over at I-mate want this thing to choke when it runs more than 2 applications?
Aside of that, I noticed that HTC Tytn has a
USB Connector: USB 1.1 client, 12Mbit/s while the JasJam
USB Connector: USB 2.0 client, 60Mbit/s
But this might be less of a worry!
Cheers[/b]

JasJam ExtROM is far bigger than TyTN extrom. Physical memory is the same and you can avoid extrom installation and "select" the cabs you want to install manually after unhiding the ExtROM. You can compare the two ExtROMs here:

I think the data must be wrong on the website, IIRC in my HTC TyTN box it says "USB 2.0".

Are you serious? 20MB RAM is worth more than anything .. IMO. ROM's k .. but RAM is definitely more important.
Can anyone with a iMate ROM confirm this?
Yeah, but if you don't wanna fidle with ExtROM, the HTC will most likely be faster right out of the box? Right?
Hold off before playing with this for a few more days (supposedly a new TyTN ROM is about to be released).

Difference between a Qtek S100 and the i-Mate JAM

Is there any? The reason I ask is that MobyMemory say their 4GB MMC card is compatible with the QTek S100 but I have the i-Mate JAM.
Can I use it?
nop.... you can't............... and its the same machine!

how to change RAM report from 64 to 128?

do we have any possibility to change RAM report from 64 to 128mb?
for qtek s100
qtek s100 has 64 and s110-128mb
I doubt that it's possible...
Anyway, why do you want to change the amount of total memory ?!
