ActiveSync via Bluetooth Problem - Networking

Hi there people,
I know I saw a post earlier about this but it didn't help my problem so far. By the way, i'm using a bluetooth from Belkin (for my laptop) which uses Widcomm stack protocols. And I haven't tweaked my XDA II so its still using the default bluetooth stack.
My problem is this, about a week ago, I can syncronize using ActiveSync via the cradle and bluetooth.. everything has worked fine ever since I got the device (which is over a month or two).. But starting yesterday, I'm having problems connection to ActiveSync via bluetooth. All the display is saying is "Connecting to Host".
I've already tried, re-installing, un-installing both the bluetooth driver (on the laptop) and ActiveSync 3.7. But I've already wasted my whole day today but I still can't synchronize. Has anybody out there knows a solution other than hard-resetting the whole XDA II???
I hope somebody could help me on this.
Anyway, thanks in advance for those who can help me...

Thanks for the help but still did not work... I can connect via bluetooth... my xda2 and my laptop can authenticate each other... it's just the stupid activesync not working... arghhhh... i'm almost in the brink for resetting the whole d**m thing....
Now even using the cradle keeps getting Unresolved Items... time for backup and restore

some peoples problems with activesync is solved by removing the connection and letting it reconnect
also i believe there is a activesync 3.71

I'm having the same problem, however mine has never synced via bluetooth. I can get both the desktop and the phone to add each other to the bonded list, but can never get either one to see the other once I have gone through the process of adding them to the bonded list.

Can't get ActiveSync to work over Bluetooth - please help.

I recently got a Bluetooth dongle for my PC but can't get my XDA-II to use any of the services !
When I select ActiveSync and the Sync with Bluetooth I get
'Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. The communications prt is not available. Another program may be using the port, or it may not be valid.
Quit any programs that may be using the port and reconnect. If the problem persists, restart your device using the instructions provided by the manufacturer.'
When I choose Bluetooth settings and select 'Bluetooth ActiveSync Setup'->Start on the XDA II I get 'Please bond with other Bluetooth device which supports serial port or ActiveSync profile as your ActiveSync partner !
The PC has the ActiveSync service enabled and I am now stuck. Please help.
Try this utility.
http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
Install it, do a soft reset. Delete previous BT connection and find again.
you should get an option to sync on your XDA II with the specific computer.

try following this tutorial at geekzone
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2417
try to turn off infrared communication on ppc.
try to delete all bounded devices both pc and xda.
try to search for a bt device again.
You have to follow the above mentioned procedure. After that you start to search the device with ActiveSync.
ActiveSync will start to check all the serial ports, one port before it comes to the port that is used by your BT stack, you should start ActiveSync via BT on your XDAII.
This is the only way (for me) to get that crap working. After the XDAII and the computer have found each other, future syncs via BT are no (or at least not a big) problem. If the XDAII and the computer sometimes dot not find each other, try to sync 2-3 times, it will hopefully work then. Sometimes there seems a kind of timeout error.
I don't use BT anymore 'cause it is really a hard job to get it running. Even when I managed to establish the connection, after some days the connection gets lost again and can only be repaired by re-installing the BT stack or ActiveSync - I am really tired of beta testing all the bluetooth stacks and stopped to use it until the industry established a working standard...
I try a lot of time after install Tobias application for BT, but I can not see the new dialog after pair my XDA II with PC. Someone help me!
I had the exact same experience. I have not sorted out my the BT problems yet but suffered also from the interrupted connection using the cradle until I disabled Norton anti-virus and firewall.
HELP!
No connection possible between my PC and MDA-II.
Bluetooth Devices program in Windows XP SP2 comes up with "incoming port: 17", while ActivSync seraches only ports 1 to 9.
How can I make them listen to the same port?

activesync over bluetooth

Does somebody have a guide to connect activesync via bluetooth? I think I have everything setup correctly but I cant connect. I have the MS BT stack on my XDA II. I have my PC setup with COM4 and COM5 ports as BT virtual serial ports. Do I connect activesync from the XDA or the PC?
All suggestions welcome
Thanks
Allan
I had problems getting active sync to work via blue tooth until I installed the Widcomm BlueTooth Driver on my PC (NOT my XDA2).
The file I used was WIDCOMM BLUETOOTH SOFTWARE 1.4.2 Build 10.
After that I installed BlueTooth Tools on my XDA2 http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html and then initiated pairing.
These two together worked a treat and gave me full functionality from my XDA2 over bluetooth.
Hope it helps

Thanks codeus!
I couldn't install the widcomm drivers on my laptop as it has built-in bluetooth. I installed the bluetooth utils on my XDA and followed the short guide. I am now replying via my Xda, and am very happy. Thanks again.

Wireless Modem via Bluetooth GPRS

Hey guys,
I got it to work once. But I have no idea how to make my iMate Jam connect to my PC's bluetooth connection using the Wireless Modem application on my Jam. Eveytime I fiddle around with that software it ends up screwing with my radio signal and I lose the signal. Then I have to reboot the phone to make it work again. Does anyone have any instruction on how to work this program? This seems to be so much harder than my P900 which I just used the Dial-up Bluetooth Modem and had it dial *99#. By the way I'm using the standard Windows XP Bluetooth stack with my USB Bluetooth adapter. Please help.
i've the same problem... anyone as a solution?
bt modem tip
On my sx66, i noticed i was having a problem with my modem connection, I noticed it wouldnt let me connect if I had already initiated a gprs session, ie. syncronizing with my excahnge server or pop mail accounts or web browsing on the pda. If i soft booted then connected the dial up connection it worked fine. In some cases i have heard some peoples PC would drop the DUN setting after every sesssion with the PC's BT settings.

This is why it's worth following my blog - I've published a tutorial of this over a month ago. Please read http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=510&more=1
Forget the wireless modem application, it's not necessary for this for me.
Go to your PC's bluetooth and open it up. Is et Widcomm? Pair the phone with the PC.
ok, on the PC click on the paired phone and click search for available services. SSA should come up.
Set up a dial up connection with phone no *99# any username, password for your provider and it should connect. PLEASE' Note, you must be DISCONNECTED from GPRS on the phone first to make a connection from your PC.
You may also have to put in an APN on the bluetooth modem in Windows XP, Control Panel, phones and Modem options, as supplied by your provider. First let us know if you get as for as finding SSA?
Surgy, ignore last post, I just saw yin said you are using MS Bluetooth stack.

You can also use the DUN from the MS BT stack too.
Your tutorial only covers the newer devices with WM5. I'm using an older i-Mate Jam/Magician and when I do a discovery with my Bluetooth adapter on my PC I only see OBEX File Transfer, Serial Port, and Voice Gateway. I still can't figure out a way to do it wirelessly. I have figured out how to do it via USB cable and the Wireless Modem program on the Pocket PC but it's only a 28.8 connection whereas usually I connect at 56K with my Sony Ericsson P900. Strange stuff. Well I'll be upgrading to a Jamin shortly so I hope this will resolve my problem.

OIC. Strange. Some (for example, Verizon) PPC PE devices are crippled in that they can't be used as BT modems.
If you can't see the DUN or SSA or Dial Up. it sounds like your Bluetooth has been modified on the imate jam/mini.
Did you install either the Blue Soleil Stack or the new BLUETOOTH STOCK from this forum?.. If so, then this is the problem. Standard default Bluetooth Stack should show it in discovery.
What make is your bluetooth dongle?

I did upgrade it to the new bluetooth stack. I guess it did more harm than good. Is there anyway to undo it or must I hard reset and install everything all over again? I have a Logitech Dinovo Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse combo.

ActiveSync via BT
If set up all settings correctly ActiveSync via BT connecting always fine. & this programm helps you to connect it in one tap include turning BT on.
Sync `Bluetooth.lnk for our device, working only when builtin connecting connectable, and close.lnk terminating repllog.exe & turning BT off.
Correct your own links!!!
thanks a lot. we are lucky that you are using jam kidding. thanks again.

Has anyone managed to get a Prophet to ActiveSync over bluetooth? If so what ROM are you using and what Bluetooth dongle and bluetooth stack?
Any tips?

Yes, it's actually simple, works for me with every rom I have tested (HTC MS Stack), just make sure that activesync on your host is listening on the right com port ,refresh your PPC and the activesync service should be visible, Lurk around this board, there is alot good reading material to find

Cheers. I wanted confirmation first of all that it does work.
I am using the PDA Mobiz AKU3.2 beta ROM and I have only tried with that ROM not any previous. Could you tell me what ROM you are using at present please? I may well "downgrade" to one that is known to work.
And what Bluetooth device are you using on your desktop PC, and what Windows bluetooth stack (eg Widcomm)?
Thanks.

The BT issue has been an old one around.
If you are having problems, I suggest:
1- After HARD RESET, make your very first move, to BT pair your Prophet with your BT laptop or PC. Do that from your PDA. The AS profile will be there.
2- then do whatever other pairing you like
3- installing TomTom, pairing with GPS's or Hands free kits BEFORE an Active Sync pairing, REMOVES THE ACTIVE SYNC OPTION FROM THE REGISTRY, and REPLACES THAT with THE SERIAL PORT on your PC available profiles!. I've found no way back for that, no matter how much I tweaked the registry.
Hope it helps.
Thanks guys I will keep playing with it and hopefully get somewhere before I through the JAMin out of the window.
I'm trying to get Phone Control to work with my PC in my car. Essential application if only I could use it. www.phoco.net
I use the 818pro with Macbook , surely with the built-in bluetooth apple with MS stack.
1) (not sure if this step is necessary?) Just make USB active sync normally first time.
2) open the COM4 on PC as incoming port. [double click the icon on bottom right "Bluetooth icon"]
3) make COM6 as incoming port on 818pro [Connection ->Bluetooth]
4) paring the 818pro and PC, this step it will show you the ActiveSync service, tick it.
5) go to the ActiveSync program and Menu->Connect via Bluetooth.
that's it.
I've ever used with the dongle Billionton, with the Widcomm driver.
I think the trick is about the COM port, you just prepare both "incoming port" on PC and PDA, and then both of them can touch each others.
Hope this helps.
