O2 Homezone Tool and GPRS - Networking

Hi folk,
I'm using a MDA II with an O2 network in germany.
In germany O2 has the nice feature of homezone (a special zone with extra rates).
The homezonetool (30032install.ARM.CAB) shows you if you are in a special area if you have now discout prices.
Install the tool and homezone is installed as sevice (ohz.dll) and it's works.....
... but now I'm wondering why I can't make any GPRS connection. The "G" is not shown.... Making a GSM internet connection is no problem, only GPRS is not working.
Does anyone knows what happens when I install the DLL. I checked the installer, there is only one exe (for turning on and off), two bmp-files and one dll.
Here the registry:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\OHZ]
"Dll"="OHZ.dll"
"Prefix"="OHZ"
"Order"=dword:00000064
"Keep"=dword:00000001
"Index"=dword:00000000
"Context"=dword:00000000
"DisplayName"="o2 HomeZone"
"Description"="o2 HomeZone Service"

O2 XDA II Settings on MDA II

Hi,
I transfered from an German O2 Rom the Homezone Tool and GPRS and Wap (MMS) Settings so that you can use a MDA II with O2 card in an O2 network.
All works fine.
Just unpack the Zip under \windows and start from the directory \windows\v2r\settings\connectsettings.exe a menu will open and you can choose which card you have, wich country (germany or uk), GSM or GPRS. Very smart ;-) The network setings will setup automatically.
There is another tool for setup you email account.
The homezone tool will tell you in germany if you are in you genion home zone.
All other bull**** of that cab which will change your skin and settings and slow down your device are deleted ;-)

RE: GPRS and MMS settings
Hi,
Follow this link, Ihave uploaded all the available cab installs for UK carriers, contract and PAYG.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26463
These are the latest version 2.0, as I have seen some earlier versions elsewhere on forum. :twisted:
where in the registry is this information located?? it works fine on the qtek 9100 wm5 but it will only show one of the connections in the connections listing. i istalled gprs monitor and it offers to monitor about 5 different connections that the cab file created. I can only see one of these. Where in the registry would I go to delete the ones not being used???

Good point, I obtained these files in my earlier link from the I-mate website, I know they work upto Alpine version on WM2003SE.
I don't have access to the I-Mate JasJar section, the cab files were designed for WM2003 & SE, I think that WM2005 probably has a different registry configuration. maybe if somebody has a JasJar, they can get can get the correct files for JasJar Mobile Carriers in I-mate JasJar section. Also Checkout the Unversal section on this Forum, somebody maybe able to help you there.

Add Chinese Mobile Conection setting in Autoconfig

i am using the Himalaya and Blue Angel in Mainland China, but O2 series don't have China Mobile GPRS/WAP setting in Auto config.
So i made it with modifing the cabs from DOPOD extrom to enable that.
*You can get automaticaly China Connection setting such like a GPRS/WAP/Dialup, also MMS setting.
*Also include some CMACC original Today screen and ChinaStock market program.
*Internet and Wap home page will change to CHINA Mobile Page
*change the legional setting to Chinese(P.Rof China) location automaticaly, if you installed wince.nls with china location.
If you need it, you can DL from my site.
# http://www.asukal.jp/Source.htm or
# http://www.asukal.jp/English/LocalizeCABS.htm
********how to configure to Auto config*****************
@You put the 3 cabs<CMACC1~3.CAB i upladed> into Extrom.
if you dont have enough space in your Extrom, you can delete some cabs for carries setting you dont need.<total 1.2mb together>
@you can add the following comand on the Autconfig.txt
[CMACC]
CAB: \Extended_ROM\CMACC1.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\CMACC2.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\CMACC3.cab
RST: Reset
@You had better delete the comand of deleated carries setting cabs
@ Put this Autocinfig.txt to Extrom and windows folder
<when you make hard rest, no need to copy this to windows folder, it will be copied automaticaly>
@Open Autoconfig.exe from Program, you can select the [CMACC] in the dialog.
*****************************************************
Of course you can install it by manualy with tapping those 3 cabs without using the Autoconfig.
Can I use O2 XDA IIs in China?
Hi Asukal
I'll go to China recently and staying there for a couple of weeks, and I want to carry a XDA IIs with me for receiving phone calls and checking emails online. My phone contract is with O2.
Can I use my phone on China Mobile or China Unicom network? I don't like the idea to roam in China, it's too expensive! My phone is simlocked, as I can't use, for example, vodafone's SIM card on my XDA. How do I use XDA IIs (Blue Angel) in China with their local SIM card? I belive you've get it working, haven't you? Could you let me know how you did it?
Many thanks.
jianzhong
yes i am using Blue Angel in china,also.
But i want to say, China Unicom doesn't support GPRS and GSM data, they are supporting CDMAx1 ,instead. but XdaO2IIs doesnt work for CDMAx1.
China Unicom has a GSM service,too. but just for the Phone taloking and SMS.
if you need GPRS, i suggest you to use China Mobile(CMACC).
regarding sim locked, you can find another topic for the Unlocking of Blue Angel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=16564&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25
Do I have to unlock it before using it on China Mobile network? Someone told me my phone is quad band, so it should work without unlocking. But he's not sure.
Thanks

htc tytn network not supported

I recently bought a tytn from germany, I installed the dopod english rom so that it was in eglish. however when I go to the network wizard my network is not there (vodafone uk), it also gives me messages saying that my network is not supported, contact the manufacturer for an upgrade.
will this stop me from accessing 3G and GPSM network, is there any way to solve this problem, because when I go to the dopod website it seems to be of little help
BUMp
it just doent have your operator settings for GPRS 3G and MMS in its cab file. You should be able to find these settings here by searching or by contacting your mobile operator.
