This profile is not yet supported by Microsoft bluetooth stack which is used by XDA.
With a WidCom stack it is possible. Which means that you've to install a second bluetooth stack.

Is it possible to install a WIDCOMM BT stack on the XDAII? I have ROM version 1.66WWE

@g3lo
Yes my current ROM is 1.60.00WWE and it works without a problem.

Mark

how many other profiles does WidCom support which ms stack dont ?

@Rudegar
Haven't tested because I use it for just network/internet access over bluetooth.
But you can judge it your self. See the 3 screen dumps.

Sorry man,but the connecting to the local Network via BT doesn't work for me ..
So,if someone succesfully did it...let me know.

@unapproachable2kx
Mine works ok!
Does your bluetooth dongle on your PC support network connection?
If yes then enable it.
Pair your devices. On your XDA run de Bluetooth wizard and see if it recognizes the network access service as can be seen on the last picture on this page.
If yes then tap on it and finish.
Connect with the created shortcut to your network.

Hello markutah,
Can you tell me which version of the WIDCOMM stack you have. I already have WIDCOMM version 1.3.1.46 which i downloaded for my iPAQ 3870 running PPC2002. So if its not the same I could download the version that you have.
Thanks

WidCom Version
@g3lo
It says: Bluetooth for Windows CE (BTW-CE)
Version 1.4.1 Build 58

is this the bluetooth stack you are using ?
and you mention you cant use both stacks at the same time
how does one go about disabling the ms stack then ?

ok. thanks. this is a newer version.

What I mean is that it's not possible to enable both MS BT and WidCom BT at the same time. If MS BT is disabled then one is able to enable the WidCom BT and if WidCom BT is disabled then one is able to enable MS BT.
Mark

so it give me 2 icons ?
and disabling it is just disabling it as in having the icon overcross'd
not some process killing regediting actions ?

thanks i'll try and install and mess a bit with it then
because therminal services would when i login'd to my pc logout the user and disable activesync, breaking the connection which would exit therminal services if i can connect using the other stack and not use activesync with therminal services it would be good

i installed the widcomm stack and i get minor problems. when i put in a name for the bluetooth device and reset it, it comes back to the original name which is Pocket_PC.
I uninstalled it last night. Any workaround for this?

only ping works...
Hello:
I'm trying to set up a
PAN from my XDA to XP-PC over BT
Installed widcomm on xda andXP-PC
I have set the ip address on the BT network connection on the xp machine.
I can connect the PAN from the XP machine to the XDA (the other way (XDA to PC) will not work, the Widcomm stack claims the service is not available on the XP-PC; any ideas why)
I can ping from the pc to the xda and vice versa, but cannot do anything else with the connection. (no netowrk drives or internet connection)
Any ideas why?
also: my home network is on a workgroup - where can I set the workgroup name on the XDA?
thanks icarusbop

@g3lo
Delete the pairing after the change of name and pair again and this problem should be solved
Mark

Re: only ping works...
@icarusbop
-possibility 1:
Maybe your BT dongle (on the PC) doesn't support the PAN. If it does then try getting a newer version of the driver at the manufacturers site.
-Possibility 2:
On the PC side you've to enable certain services. Did you enable the network service?

Can't get ActiveSync to work over Bluetooth - please help.

I recently got a Bluetooth dongle for my PC but can't get my XDA-II to use any of the services !
When I select ActiveSync and the Sync with Bluetooth I get
'Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. The communications prt is not available. Another program may be using the port, or it may not be valid.
Quit any programs that may be using the port and reconnect. If the problem persists, restart your device using the instructions provided by the manufacturer.'
When I choose Bluetooth settings and select 'Bluetooth ActiveSync Setup'->Start on the XDA II I get 'Please bond with other Bluetooth device which supports serial port or ActiveSync profile as your ActiveSync partner !
The PC has the ActiveSync service enabled and I am now stuck. Please help.
Try this utility.
http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
Install it, do a soft reset. Delete previous BT connection and find again.
you should get an option to sync on your XDA II with the specific computer.

ActiveSync Via Bluetooth with Troy Windport
Have tried all suggestiosn including http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
Activesync starts to connect an then drops the connection
Have w2k, ActiveSync 3.7.1 and TRoy Windport bluetooth PCMCIA card, XDA II with Latest 6.10.50 upgrade
Only option left is to change/upgrade operating system to XP which I do not want to do.
Anybody got a better idea?
Thanks

try following this tutorial at geekzone
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2417
try to turn off infrared communication on ppc.
try to delete all bounded devices both pc and xda.
try to search for a bt device again.
You have to follow the above mentioned procedure. After that you start to search the device with ActiveSync.
ActiveSync will start to check all the serial ports, one port before it comes to the port that is used by your BT stack, you should start ActiveSync via BT on your XDAII.
This is the only way (for me) to get that crap working. After the XDAII and the computer have found each other, future syncs via BT are no (or at least not a big) problem. If the XDAII and the computer sometimes dot not find each other, try to sync 2-3 times, it will hopefully work then. Sometimes there seems a kind of timeout error.
I don't use BT anymore 'cause it is really a hard job to get it running. Even when I managed to establish the connection, after some days the connection gets lost again and can only be repaired by re-installing the BT stack or ActiveSync - I am really tired of beta testing all the bluetooth stacks and stopped to use it until the industry established a working standard...
I try a lot of time after install Tobias application for BT, but I can not see the new dialog after pair my XDA II with PC. Someone help me!
I had the exact same experience. I have not sorted out my the BT problems yet but suffered also from the interrupted connection using the cradle until I disabled Norton anti-virus and firewall.
HELP!
No connection possible between my PC and MDA-II.
Bluetooth Devices program in Windows XP SP2 comes up with "incoming port: 17", while ActivSync seraches only ports 1 to 9.
How can I make them listen to the same port?

The BT Lan Access Service using Microsoft BT Stack has been removed in the registry. It's been like that since XDA2.
I do not know if there is a corresponding driver available in MDA Compact such that you can re-enable the service via updated registry entries.
Anyone?
i think it needs the ppp bluetooth profile
and ms bluetooth stack dont have that
vidcomm bluetooth stack does....
you can try using that

Found the reg entry with missing configuration:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Services\00001102-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB]
@="Lan Access"
and here are some more...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Services\00001105-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB]
@="OBEX Push"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Services\00001112-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Services\00001124-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB]
@="HID"
Anyone knows enough of these entries?
just add those to your device, apply the other things from msdn you've found and restart your device. then scan your ppc on the pc for open services...
I have found a workaround
I'm the happy owner of an MDA Compact and a Siemens blue2net access point. Indeed, the Microsoft Bluetooth stack refused to talk to the access point, which only offers the "Lan Access" profile.
I tried the suggested registry hack. Good idea, but sadly it does not work. It would appear that the "Lan Access" profile is simply not supported by the Bluetooth stack - it has not just been disabled by deleting a few registry entries
However, I found a workaround. After a few hours of fighting with the Microsoft stack, I downloaded a free Bluetooth stack from Toshiba (http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/) that supports the "Lan Access" profile. I did a full backup of my MDA Compact, adopted the "brace position", and prepared for a crash landing (aka hard reset).
After installing the Toshiba Bluetooth stack, I simply had to do a soft reset to activate it. Big surprise for me: my MDA still worked. Clicking the Microsoft Bluetooth icon in the status bar now told me that my toy had no Bluetooth support; however, clicking the new Toshiba Bluetooth icon brought up a different (and better, IMHO) Bluetooth interface. From here I could see the blue2net access point. Not only that - I could actually connect to it. The rest was piece of cake: add the Bluetooth device and configure a modem connection via it. I am now happily surfing the web via Bluetooth
The only caveats I have so far are these:
1) I now have a disfunctional Microsoft Bluetooth icon in the status line. I would like to get rid of that. Please drop me a note if someone knows how to do that.
2) When using the Toshiba Bluetooth stack, the diode above the screen does not blink blue when Bluetooth is active. A small price to pay for having internet access
i am about to do as lars_juhl has stated on my xda II knowning that he messed with mda compact and i have a xda II but still i am going to do as he has stated will let you guys know wat happens.
FINGERS CROSSED !!
ok ive downloaded bluetooth stack v3.10.00 from the link that you've given and after extracting the contents of the zipped file on my desktop i have.

4.AutoAns (Exe)
5.AutoOn (Exe)
6.AutoSetup (Config File I Guess)
7.lmgLoad.dll
8.Setup (Exe)
9.TbpSetup (Exe)
10.TbpSetup (Config)
11.TosBtLoad.dll

care to tell me which is the file that you installed on your pda as a bluetooth profile and i shall follow you.

I think you're supposed to download the 'Pocket PC 2002 / Windows Mobile 2003' bluetooth stack. This shows version 5.01.
Goodluck.

Hi,
I've one question:
(a) Apart from Internet access, do you have other BT functions working?
e.g. Headset/Handsfree, BT ActiveSync??
The BT Tray Icon can be removed by deleting this registry key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\BTIcon]
then reboot.
If you don't wish to remove the key, you can disable it by editing this parameter value under the registry key
change
"Dll"="BTIcon_Dll.dll" to
"Dll"="BTIcon_Dll.dll.disabled"
then reboot. When WM2003SE tries to load the Dll driver, it can't find it and therefore the MS BT system tray icon will not be activated.
The download is here:
http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/pages/download.php
Works great on my MDA Compact too (DLINK BT-900ap).
Many thanks for this idea.
Does anyone know if there is a way to turn on/off the bluetooth radio once this stack has been installed ? I have the feeling that it is always on, consuming precious energy...
BTW has anyone tried headsets with this stack. Do they work ?
Thanks agian,
Martin

Yeah, I have the same question.
And one more: After turning off/on toshiba bt icon disappers. How to fix it?
it works for me but how can i turn bluetooth off ?!! i think it goes ON all the time
Yeah, the BT icon is disappearing after turning the device off as well as sometimes ramdomly.
The set-up app (bt_setup) cannot be restarted without soft reset, I get following error "An error occured with th Buetooth Card Confirm that the card is working properly."
M.
I installed the Toshiba bluetooth stack on my I-Mate Jam and it ROCKS - it includes ALL the functionality missing in the MS stack!
...BUT...
It is unstable as hell (I have experience all the bugs listed in this thread) and I am fairly sure this is due to the fact that both MS and Toshiba stacks try to use the same bluetooth hardware SIMULTANEOUSLY.
...SO...
has anyone figured how deinstall/reinstall the microsoft bluetooth stack on a Magician (I-Mate Jam, Qtek S-100, MDA Compact, XDA Mini)?

Bluetooth Network Access, Please, Please, please Help....!!!

Hi there,
I have an Qtek 2020 and I've installed WM2005.
ROM version 1.60a.00WWE
Radio Version: 1.14.00
Protocol version: 1337.24
I want to use newtwork access service but I cant.
when I want to setup this service in My Bluetooth places. it sais no Device found. and when I find manually it sais that your device has not network access profile.
I tried to install WIDCOMM BTW-CE but it didnt installed. it sais that no bluetooth radio found!!
I really need network access. Please help me!!!!!
if you can sync with activesync using bluetooth then you can connect
not sure if 2005 BT stack support the bluetooth PAN profile
and not sure if there are any widcomm out for 2005 yet
I had this problem also before I install WM2005 with the same error.
I thaught maybe I should upgrade my radio versio !!!!
the radiostack is only related to GSM not bluetooth
these are guides as to how you activesync with bluetooth
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?ContentId=3163
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2417
Most of the time.. its more acurate when you connect from PC to PPC not PPC to PC.
I think my English is very bad
I can connect to ActiveSync without any problems.
My problem is to use Network Access service.
I have no problem with other services sych as Audio Gateway, Headset, Ativesync, Serial port and...
when you are connected with activesync then you have network access!
if you minimize activesync while it's connected then you can just open IE or messenger or what ever
that is unless you disabled it in activesycn on the pc or the firewall on the pc block it
or if you have set it to use your isp network insted of your my network in connections on the pocketpc
No... you didn't understand me.
I want have an IP address for my pocket PC as you connect with WiFi.
And explore the shared folder of the network PCs with Resco File Explorer.
Wee this picture.
When I connect with USB my pocket PC get and IP address and I can ping it.
I want to do this also when I connect via bluetooth.[/img]
oh dident know that activesync using bluetooth did not assign an ip to the xda2
well then there are 2 options i guess
1 find a widcomm or another bluetooth stack that works on 2005 which support the PAN profile (pan is network over bluetooth as in not using activesync)
2 downgrade to 2003SE or 2003 and get the widcomm stack which works for it and support PAN
I've installed the WIDCOMM. but the previouse BLutoth stack did't remove. and now I have too icons of bluetooth!!!
but widcomm did't work properly and it sais that: "The Bluetooth radio failed to turn ON due ro insuffivent driver menory available. [!!!] you must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the Bluetooth Radio.

I have the same problem... htc p4350, wm5 aku3/3.5 the wm device doesn't see the Network Access bluetooth service which the PC is running. (pocket pc doesn't seem to support Bluetooth PAN correctly). This is crap. In the year 2007, simple things like bluetooth pan shouldn't go unimplemented in an operating system built by the richest software company in the world. on a device i paid $500 for. i could implement this stuff myself in less than a week if the code weren't closed source. gosh i hate hate HATE our world.

Wlan via bluetooth

Is it possible to make a wlan via a bluetooth dongle?
The type of my dongle is ES-388.
Does anybody has experience with this type= I only can use bluesolei and I just want to use the standar MS drivers but MS doesn´t see the dongle???
Generally Yes - although not technically WLAN.
And more specifically i havent tried it on my Wizard, but did have it working on my Ipaq.
What you need:
PC with network/internet conex
BT dongle
Decent BT stack for PC - i found a lovelly guid with a "version" of a Widcom (i think) stack and a lovelly guide, trouble is the files were removed off the site shortly after i read it for "breach of copyright".
Bridge BT network (PAN) and network (LAN) to make it work.
Fraid i cant share the files as i dont have any install files. but sure Google can help
The Bluetooth Stack on the HTC Wizard does not support Personal Area Network profile (PAN), so unless you manage to hack a different stack into the wizard, no, bluetooth networking will not work.
i think.
