Losing your XDA 11 Stylus? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Is anyone experiencing this problem. I have now lost my fourth stylus. The slightest knock will dislodge the stylus whilst on the belt clip. Because the xda 11 will now swivel around due to the location of the clip, stylus will fall from unit. Anybody got sources for replacements?

I haven`t lost one yet but
I must amid, these things are lovely to eat , as they are so much smaller and tinner than the IPAQ ones. And they also make a lovely toothpic.
And of course of the perfect shape at the top, they are the ultimate tool to clean out your....

Same here im on my 3rd. I have purchased more from www.pdaaddons.com

I have had mine for a little over a week and have already lost one stylus.
Looks like I will be reverting to my Rotring 600 Trio as I find the stylus way to tiny in any case.
http://www.styluscentral.com/rotring600trio.html

I tried www.pdaaddons.com but they don't mentiona stylus for the xda2.

Stylus XDA II PLUS pen!
I know ink is soooo passé...
but I got a stylus that has a dead handy ink-pen inside from brando.com!
Refills very cheap too! Very quick delivery from Hong Kong.

Tightening up the Sytlus Holder
Is ther any way to do this?
Kind regards
Alan

I have noticed that the ones o2 uk shops sell are slightly thinner than the original one that came with my XDA2, and keeps slipping out, could try some blue tack to hold it in place!!!

try ebay.
A lot of compnies are offering styli in 3-pack, which gives you 2 spares!

The trick is not to loose it!
Needs to fit better

After losing two styluses, I bought a stylus with a built-in pen at the other end. To keep from losing this stylus, I modified the XDA II case. I cut the transparent hard plastic packaging material of the stylus and attached it using electrical tape to the top of the XDA II leather case. The plastic is now blocking the path of the stylus. There is no way now for the stylus to fall unless I open the case.

I don't like cases so I don't have that option. I was wondering if there was a way to modify the silo or perhaps put some sort of compression spring/washer in the grove at the bottom end of the stylus

Real Filipino inguinity.. hehehehehe...
Almost lost my sytlus two days ago, its a good thing that I remembered that I tried to get the stylus out while in the car but had to stop because my XDA2 fell in the floor. After 2 hours my friend noticed that the stylus is missing, took me a few minutes before I remembered the attempt that I made while inside the car... hehehe.. almost made me angry at the thought of losing the stylus...

The XDA Exec Stylus broken again sheeez!

Hi all, I have broken the plastic part off the stylus...again
Anyone know if there is a solid stylus available instead of the poorly designed stylus supplied. Yes I know it is because they had to make it black to match the case, but I would have rather had a silver coloured stylus that lasted.
Why they didn't make a completely solid stylus I don't know; other than to generate sales of stylus pens, but they wouldn't do that would they?
I've even thought about manufacturing some to sell. Would anyone buy such a thing? :?:
funny you mention it, i had to do stylus repairs last night,
the black bit has started to come out of ppc without the rest of the stylus attached,
Tools used for repair : part of a rizla.
I teared enough rizla off to do one lap around the stylus, after licking the gum of course, then banged the black bit back in, now i cant seperate them so i think ive done enough for it to last a while longer now
Maybe you can try one of the replacement styli. The one with a ballpen on one end which translates to THE BALCK PART REALLY IS REMOVABLE so you cannot really BREAK it and not put it back. It's a ballpen cap

I'm using that pen/stylus now and another advantage (as was noted on another post in here somewhere) is that the pen/stylus is much more secure in the device than the original stylus. I never had the original one fall out like some have metioned, but now there's not rattle either.
I don't know it the loose fitting stylus was unique to a particular branding, but I have the i-mate Jasjar.
where do you get one of these stylus pens please?
I dunno if this is what kelfor has but you can check www.ppctechs.com or www.expansys.com or any other PDA online shops.
hi all just a follow-up to this post I purchased some styli from expansys, the package was damaged and looked old, or at least poorly stored, 2 came broken the other was fine, I also bought some finger styli for my father - dads and gadgets eh! anyway 2 were missing and again the box looked old and tatty. I reported this and instead of sending me replacements they gave me a refund, they didn't seem at all bothered about it, so I took my business to eBay. I won't be buying from expansys in a hurry.
eBay on the other was excellent bought it from china and was delivered faster than expansys; top service.
PS: stylus and exec are doing fine and I'm really impressed with the xda exec update from O2, it works better than when I had the corp install running.
I purchased one of the ones with a ball-point pen in it, and it was such a bad fit that i had to use a pair of needle-nosed pliers and a lot of force to get it out again!

I lost one the other day somewhere around my local Tesco's!... Perhaps thats why they ship with a spare
The only one I've broken so far is the stylus-tip off of a $10 ballpoint one. The ballpoint and top's fine, but I can't use it *as* a stylus anymore. Dropped it onto tile floor in the line at the local supermarket... Oops. Meanwhile, the glue holding the black top bit in my original stylus has come loose, but it's still a tight wenough fit that the stylus works properly. Since I have an MDA Pro, I'd prefer a silver coloured tip anyway.
ther is an all metal 1 floating about, its a nice black 1, cant mind wer i seen it though, but ther is 1 out ther!

Stylus problem: they break!

It always happened the same way: I drop a stylus and the tip breaks off.
Every single time.
Sometimes I can be a but clumbsy but I think it is rediculous that it cant handle the fall. Are there styli which arent so very breakable or do I have to make some construction with a line of rope connecting my stylus to the phone or something... doh... any ideas? Styli arent the cheapest things for what you get and I dropped my stylus 5 times now (yes that means I broke 5 of them). I dont want to spend a fortune on finger replacements...
Thanx for any replies
I also have some stylus problems...
my first kill: the big plastic part at the back broke clean off when i dropped it onto the street
I injured one, but it came back to life: the big plastic part at the back came out of the aluminium part of the stylus, i glued it back in and seems fine again.
Today i found bought a dead one...: i bought a set of replacements, and one of them is missing the tip of the stylus...
So i agree, they should have been built a bit better than this...
Hi,
I killed one Blueangel stylus.
The should make full metal ones, lol
Or full plastic ones...
I've never broken my HP H5550 stylus (which is ugly, but indescructible)

Loose Pen

Hi All,
Got an XDA Exec.
My pen has become loose and it keeps following out. Tried the spare pen and still same problem.
Any suggestions for a fix ?
Try wrapping some sticky tape around the shaft of the pen for added thickness.
Another option is to buy the pen/stylus combo for the Universal. My original stylus always seemed loose, but the pen/stylus has always felt more snug. I've heard others talk about the same thing on here, so it seems fairly consistent.
I hardly ever use the pen portion of it, but it's nice having the stylus feel more secure.
Here's the link to the one I bought...
http://www.boxwave.com/products/styraballpointpen/styra-ballpoint-pen-stylus-i-mate-jasjar_723.htm
Try putting some bluetack on to the holder.
Just lost mine (it was loose).
I didn't get a spare, so off to ebay.

Stylus Qwik Fix--make your own pen type stylus

Ok, so I love my MDA, but the silo sucks. I have lost SO many styli it isn't funny. And I am not mechanically savvy enough to do the silo fix using a paperclip, so instead of paying $20 for replacements, or even $5-10, I made my own that works fabulously.
NEEDED:::
Dead ballpoint pen
Plastic embroidery needle (at Walmart in crafts section packaged as childrens needle, less than $1 for 2)
Tissue paper
HOW TO:::
Take the dead pen and remove the ink cartridge, but keep the spring.
Snip of the "eye" (the hole the thread goes into) of the needle.
Stuff the pen with tissue paper until almost full, leaving about a half inch.
Put the spring onto the needle, put the needle into the pen, recap.
Voila, a new stylus for about a buck.
Now obviously it won't fit into the MDA silo anymore, but the silo is crap anyway. I used a dead pen that had a clip so I could clip it to my shirt pocket or jeans. Also it is now big enough that I can find it easily in my purse, or on the floor should I drop it. The needle is made of a hard plastic just like the stylus is, so it won't scratch your screen, and the tip is thin enough to easily use the on-screen keyboard without error, or to fit in the reset hole.
This is an easy and inexpensive quick fix for a missing stylus.
If I get a chance, I'll try to post some pics.
yea we need some pics of this....lol
Here are the pics
The first is the 4 part...the needle (with the eye snipped off), the spring, the dead pen, and the srew on part. The second is what it looks like put together. Sorry for the crappyness of the pics, but my MDA needs some major cleaning. I assure you though, this works, and is a cheap and easy stylus fix...unless of course you just have a hard time listening to a womans input

xda's stylus

hi,
this question might not even have anything to do development. i have been using my exec for a year now, and the problem is that the stylus has become quite loose and doesnt stay in the phone securly, have others had similar problems and if yes what's their solution?
thanks
Same problem, but no solution, im sorry
The inner plastik thingy which holds the stylus is somehow.. overused or rubbed off?
I dont think that there is a solution :/
I had the same problem with my old xda exec.
Stuck sellotape around stylus and that did the trick for me.
Simple but effective. Needed to replace sellotape once a month.
I had the same problem. First I have use scotch tape around the stylus which looks ugly therefore I start use few drops of Super glue and making little swell on the stylus
A little lump of blue tac pushed into the socket which holds the stylus in place when I put it in.

Believe me when I say that the best alround solutution is to by a replacement stylus like this one http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8393.htm
I lost my first stylus about six months ago because it was too loose, there is no way this one will fly out. It fits nice and snug.

I second this! These stylii fit very securely and are MUCH better than the originals that come with the device. I've had 2 because I accidentally dropped one right on the tip (dropped from my hand, it didn't slip out of the Universal) and both were snug.
bend stylus
i tried to paint my last stylus with nail enamel (color metalic gray), didn't work ...so i decided to bend it a little
it worked for me..
tricky question .. how much bend it ?
well.. i didn't clean enamel from stylus, (im lazy...) while i was trying to bend enamel crack ....that was my scale
The little clip which holds the stylus in on mine broke off completely. I opened the case up and glue the clip back in while padding it out with paper at the same time. Holds the stylus rock solid now, much better than it ever did before.
