Changing the IMEI - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Hi, I have been very happily using my XDA with a '3' SIM after unlocking it but as of this weekend, it stopped working. It will work with other network SIMs so I know the phone is fine. I called '3' but obviously they are not interested. Is it because of the IMEI? If so, I would like to find out how I can change it ... My radio was 4.21 so I downgraded to 3.23.00 and then tried XDA Manipulator but it does not show that option (flashes and dissappears) . I cannot seem to find Radio Stacks V4.06 or 4.10 anywhere ... any help much appreciated.
Details
<Wallaby 5.14, ROM = 3.17.03. Radio = 3.23.00>

How did you downgrade the radio stack, please give me the method used because I know many people will be interested, I have never managed it either.
Reference your usage of the sim from 3, I cannot see it being an imei problem, as you know the xda is not 3 compatable so it will be logging you on through a 3rd party network as far as I know. If the imei was blocked it would not work with any operator here in uk. Does the 3 sim work in another phone.?

I found GERMAN Radio Stack from this forum. (REF:http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=2185). The '3' network also uses O2 network. Have not tried '3' sim in another phone - will test tomorrow.[/b]

i have downgraded a few times, but i dont know if this method will work 4 u.
if i currently have a TMO stack, ill go to a ATT stack, then i can bak to an earlier TMO, or visa versa
i only tried this with ATTs and TMOs, never had the need to try other stacks...(or should i  )

It is possible that the phone has been blocked, I have had this problem with 2 phones that I bought as faulty, I repaired them only to find that the sellers had claimed on insurance then sold the knackered phone which had been blocked by the provider.

JUICEe - I am not brave enuff to go down that route given the dire warnings from this forum in moving from UK/Europe stacks to US ones.
crusing-thru - Given that XDA works perfectly ok with 02 SIM, and '3' SIM works fine in 3' phone, I believe its something about the '3' SIM/Network and not the phone that is preventing me using it in my XDA at this time.
Tx for the interest, hope you were able to downgrade using the German stack. It works fine with O2 SIM.

It is strange though that the sim was working fine then doesnt work in xda but still works in another phone. Have you tried an orange or t mobile sim in the phone? If you are positive that 3 uses O2 as a patch network then ignore this. Have you been to bootloader and inadvertently changed gsm to 900 only, if 3 uses an 1800 network this would explain it, if you havent been to bootloader then I have no idea and if as you said the people at 3 are not interested I would consider dumping them as a service provider.

"Hutchison 3G has agreed to share network facilities owned by UK operator mmO2 to ensure rapid time to market even before its own network is complete, with customers roaming between Hutchison's limited 3G network and mmO2's existing second generation network. Hutchison's right to let customers roam with at least one existing competitor's 2G network is part of the 3G license and enforceable by law."

3 have locked the SIM, must be in one of their phones or will not work, even though it uses O2 as a voice network. Seen this problem many times, and there is nothing you can do about it. Anyone who has made it work is just lucky, and 3 will get to you in the end.
Don't ask me why they do it as to me they are restricting their own business, cos if you use your own handset, you are likely to use it more. Just ask my girlfriend who just hates her nec 606 and hardly uses it!!

Hi,
Basically what happened was that O2 complained to '3'. People were getting the cheap tarriffs from '3' and using them in 2g handsets.
O2's opinion was those people 'should' be using O2 as their provider if they are just using the 2g voice part.
'3' realised that if this becomes wide spread, although they will still make a % off the voice call in profit (after paying O2 for using their 2g network), they wont be acustoming people to using any of the 3g functions.
Really they would be hindering the progression of users from 2g to 3g, which may end up costing them alot more ultimately.
In my opinion it was most likely O2 threatening to take action too.
Really their marketing stratedgy is to give out cheap voice calls, to get the 3 phone in your hand... then they bombard u with offers to try video calls etc etc eventually 'in theory' u get used to these services.. same old story.
I havnt monitored the message, but from what i can tell they are using one of two things to stop the phones working:
1) capability messages from the phone restricting the phone from completing authentification because it isnt '3g' capable. That could be done as part of the auth process, raising the required capability to 3g.
2) Using the SAT (sim application toolkit) capability to talk to the USIM and dissable it.
Although SAT and USIM are not actually compatible, you can talk to a USIM through a SAT phone with limited functions.
If they're using (1) your **** outta luck really. But if that were the case you would expect everyone to be knocked out within the space of a month max (when they update the hlr records). Did you just get your 3 card?
If its 2.. you may be able to try an OLD handset that isnt SAT capable, just to prove the point.
I'm leaning towards (2) because i do know that on many nokia's if u type a number as soon as you boot up the phone it will work.
Also if u leave a digit on the screen.. say 0 as soon as u end that call it will still work when u dial the next number.
Clear the digit and not type one quick enough and you gotta reboot before it'll work again.
Sounds like the nokia firmware blocks access to the sim for other processes, in anticipation of reading the KC and doing an auth when u make the call.
Toxic.

Problem connecting to O2 after unlocking XDA

Hello all
My colleague posted this message a couple of weeks ago, but didn't provide full info and as such the replies did not work.
So here it is. I would be grateful for any advice.
I unlocked my xda I, using a software I downloded from here, which was previously working on O2 UK. After that, it doesn't work with any O2 Sim. It works with all other UK sims (Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange). But not O2. The O2 sims are ok as they work on other handsets and specifically my unlocked XDA II and other handsets ( I have tried 2 different O2 sims).
But no joy. I even tried to change the GSM frequency on the XDA through boot loader (even though I didn't have to), but no joy. I have gone through the auto config several times. but no joy. I even re-installed the latest O2 firmware and radio update (from the O2 web site), but still no joy.
I am running out of ideas. Does anyone have any idea? Should I try and downgrade the firmware and radio stack and try again? Can I do it from the original CD?
I would be grateful for any ideas.
Cheers
Nima
Can you tell us the nature of the error with an O2 sim, what is shown at the signal level meter, what happens when you attempt a call etc. Please leave the radio stack alone, your phone is working on 900 and 1800 bands so that is not the problem. Was the sim that you have at the moment working on this phone on O2 before the upgrade.?
Hello Thank you for your reply.
When you turn the phone on, it asks you for the SIM pin and the device works fine in every other way. But you get no signal. If you try to make a phone call, you get the phone dialer screen and you can dial the number but, obviously, it disconnects more or less immediately. If (from the phone dialer screen) you try and go to options it freezes and doesn't show you the options screen and then you can only exit the phone dialer. Also, I put the GSM frequenct back to what it was. I haven't changed anything in the bootloader mode anyway. I had problems with the original O2 sim after the upgrade (funny enough, it worked for a day or two), but now i don't have that sim as the contract finished. By the way, both of the O2 sims I am trying now are contracts and NOT pre-paid.
Well here it is. I hope this helps to let you figure something out. I would be grateful for any ideas. What about formware downgrade? what do you think? could it help ? is it even possible?
Thanks a lot.
Nima
It presents as a blocked phone, if you look closely at the signal meter after a soft reset you may see the signal come up but then drop back to nothing. It may be coincidence that it stopped working with O2 2 days after the upgrade. I have seen this happen with phones that either have been subject to insurance claim or where a contract was not fully paid up for the 12 months, however it usually means it will be blocked on all networks. It does not look like a rom downgrade will work, also as said before, if it works on Vodafone it should logically work with all other 900 mhz bands.

"Unknown SIM Error" on MDA Pro on T-Mobile

Hi,
I just bought an MDA Pro direct from T-Mobile's website and it was delivered today. Unfortunately, while the PDA side of things works perfectly, it won't connect to T-Mobile at all.
On the 'T-Mobile' start up screen it displays the text 'No GSM' above what I think must be version information.
It reports 'no service' in the phone status bubble, and SIM Manager says: "Only emergency service calls can be made without a PIN" When I enter the PIN I was given, nothing happens. I think it goes into 'change PIN mode' because then I can put two more 4-digit numbers in (it doesn't matter which!) and then it says "Unknown PIN Status. Unknown PIN Error"
Unfortunately it isn't just a SIM problem as the SIM works in my O2 P800.
I've spoken with T-Mobile and they want to swap the handset, which would be fine if they had any in stock! I'm wondering if anyone here had any advice on ways I could try fixing this short of waiting for them to get in touch and tell me they have another handset I can try.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Hi,
what is your local provider ? Is it T-Mobile, Vodafone, E-plus or O2 ?
The mda pro only works with a t-mobile sim !
- Superbowl
Try to clean the sim before putting it back in the MDA Pro,
Generally works for me!
i had the same problem with my jasjar here is Australia......my sim works on any other pda and phones but not the jasjar.....apparently the sim that i have or some of the new sims have a little higher voltage than normal.......and the jasjar dont like it.....so what i did was replace the sim with another one and that worked......al they had to do was port my number to the new sim......but before it did that tried to put the sim in first and it started to look for a network so i knew this was gonna work......becoz before when i put my old sim in it just says invalid sim or no sim........so try replacing ur sim with another one......perhaps try and get an old sim maybe the sim has some in stock.....i bet ya that will wrok....good luck
Thanks guys ... I'm trying to find an older T-Mobile SIM to try. It's just frustrating! I've tried giving the SIM a wipe, to no avail. If it is that the SIM is slightly incompatible, T-Mobile sending out another unit won't really help, right?
How annoying!
If anyone else has any great ideas I'd love to hear them!
try using someone elses sim and put it in the device and give it a try to check if its definitely the unit and not the sim......when i rang the tech support for optus thats what i was advised.....and they were right....sim voltage was the problem......anyways try getting another sim.
Contact customer services.
The problem sounds like you SIM is too old.
They should ask for your SIM serial number, if its too old they'll offer to send you a new SIM or something else to make it work straight away???
The MDA PRO as its a 3G type phone with WCDMA it needs a diffrent sim card that is usaly known as a 3V USIM.
Its the same on Three in the UK, the sims from their phones will only work in 3G phones not standard GSM ones and vica-versa.
Old SIMs (from about 5 years ago) are rated at 5 volts. Newer ones are 3 volts (not just for 3G). Trust me, I work for a certain mobile phone company who sponser West Brom. ;-)
The problem will be fixed in a future software upgrade. But for now you need a new SIM or your phone unlocked.
Trouble is, this *is* a new SIM... I'm moving back to the 'hardware fault' diagnosis I think.
I went to a friendly carphone warehouse shop in Oxford and tried a new (and definately working) T-Mobile PAYG SIM and that gave exactly the same error.
Maybe T-Mobile need to send me a 3G SIM. I guess I'm probably just going to have to wait until they can send me a new handset to see what happens.
Ho hum!
There's no such thing as a 3G SIM. The 3G gigery pokery happens on the phone. There is no need for a different SIM. The MDA Pro has a problem with SIMs with certain serial numbers (Don't know which coz I'm not at work). You need either a SIM that the phone likes or your phone unlocked. Call customer services if you still have your phone.
Had the same problem allready twice in 2 weeks.
One time a soft reset made the device working again - another time I had to take out the sim card and put it in again, then it worked. But all email accounts were gone and had to be installed again.

Hi, thanks for that reply... it seems very useful! If you could post/pm me the numbers of those SIMs that the MDA Pro is unlikely to like I'd really appreciate it... customer services aren't striking me as very helpful (and certainly not knowledgable) and I can tell that if I call them they're still going to say: Wait until we have another handset in stock and we'll see what happens then. Which doesn't help me much as who knows when that will be?
Thanks!
Any SIM serial not starting with 06 or 07 will be affected by the issue.
eg 90043575, the serial starts with 04.
This will be fixed with a software upgrade in the future, in the mean time you either need new SIM or you handset unlocked. For either call customer services.
I got my MDA Pro a few days ago also, had the same problem as you, basically the handset is network locked, not sure how they managed to lock all UK network, basically give Tmob a call and make sure your stay on the line until they provide with an unlock code, i got mine, now my old sim works and my handset is unlocked

I had the same problem but i had been using the sim card successfully with the exec for a year, after a hard reset it doesnt recognise the sim. will a ROM upgrade fix it or is it a hardware failiure?

I had this happening to me just last week with a card that works all the time. Then followed that I had no sound coming off speakers or bluetooth. In my case it was a third party software problem. Don't ask me which as I install and uninstall too many applications and my Uni gets in a tangle sometimes. A soft reset instantly (in terms!) restored phone activities and sound, so I recommend a reset if you haven't tried it already. Maybe you will need more than one.

SSSOOO depressed !!! My Exec phone doesnt work anymore :(

Guys,
I am SSOO depressed.
I moved to Turkey for a few months and the the same SIM that I previously used which is local turkish displays NO SERVICE. Even the Orange sim that I have used with my exec in my country AND in this country in my last trip isn't working anymore. I also have my old PDA2K with me here that is working perfectly with all SIMs. It's just that my Exec doesn't work anymore, so it's 100% gotta be an hardware problem.
when I click to search for networks I get the 3 turkish networks. however when i select my sim network or any other for that matter, nothing works. it just gets NO SIGNAL.
I tried to hard reset the device in hope that some program may have causd the problem but that didn't work as well. Even bare setup leaves the phone with no signal.
I may be wrong here, but I think my theory makes sense. I think that the internal Antenna is disconnected or isn't functionning, hence why it succeed to read the very mute GSM providers list but is unable to transmit a signal strong enough to communicate with them.
My O2 exec was bought by a guy who sold it to me from the UK. O2 will never service this machine since i didn't purchase it from them as well as I already flashed my rom and running JJ rom ever since I own the machine which is back 5 months ago.
Needless to say if you peole are like me you will understand my feeling. I feel like an inpotent without the phone and do not like to purchase a cellular phone and go backwards in technology.
If someone can enlighten me on how I may try to fix the machine myself or otherwise someone can fix it for me that would be so great.
In hope for help,
Tommy
Man that sucks, I feel your situation. I would be upset w/o my Universal as well. Here's a link to the service manual:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Universal/UNniversalL_Service_Manual_CONFIDENTIAL.pdf
Maybe you could try disassembling it to check the attennas for contact? To get to the attennas doesn't seem that hard.

Your antenna should not be the problem as you can see the list of operatots on your Exec.
To be shure it is the hardware problem try to do this:
1. Remove SIM card
2. Try to make an emergency call (not sure how :? )
If you succeed in doing the emergency call - this appears to be a network barring problem that mentioned above in this thread.
thank you all for replying to my post !!! this is appreciated.
it seems the mistery was solved, when i talked with a turkish friend before reading your replies. Well the mistry wasn't solved, but i know what it is.
STRANGE country. The Turkish Telecom blocks some machines (IMEI) that you bring from overseas !!!
It's like a gestapo. Truely amazing unbelievable thing.
You see, the Turkish government instructs to block all IMEI that were not purchased in Turkey and use a Turkish sim card. The result is that if you bring you own mobile phone from anywhere in the world into Turkey and try to insert a Turkish sim card into it, the turkish goverment will block your machine! you can't even use your origin country SIM anymore after they do that!!
They Lock the IMEI so that you cannot use it with any cellular provider! Why? Because they assume you're Turkish and brought a phone without paying taxes in turkey. Would you ****in believe it?
I also carry a PDA2K and this one still works with a Turkish SIM, but I guess it may be blocked as well soon. People I talked with told me they have heard of this rule but have never seen anyone get hurt from it by getting his phone blocked.
So if you're a turist and thinks about using a Turkish prepaid SIM or any kind of SIM, think twice. within days, weeks or months, your phone will be useless here. My Turkish SIM card worked fine last visit a month ago, but it doesn't anymore.
Now if I would ask how I could change the IMEI that would be considered illegal because many want to do so because they are thieves, but legitimate people who got their phone blocked by a obscene Turkish laws has nothing they could do about it, even if they aren't Turkisj.
My friends talked with the Turkcell for 30 minutes and there was nothing they could do, they said it's a state issue and that only within a week time it will be in their hands so i would be able to go to their service center and show my passport. What a country!

Unable to make or receive calls

I wonder if anyone can help with a fault on my M3100. So far I've searched this website for answers with no luck. I have Hard Reset the phone, upgraded the Radio, all without any luck.
About 6 days ago my M3100 suddenly stopped being able to make or receive calls. Whenever I try to dial out the call drops out before being established, and if I try to call in to the phone the caller receives a series of beeps.
At first it seems to be a SIM problem, but the Vodaphone SIM is fine in any other phone. If I put my Orange SIM in the phone it just comes up as "No Service".
I'm at the end of the line in what to do and it doesn't seems to make any sense.
Any comments, suggestions, advice or help very much appreciated.
..... Further symptom details:
I can send and receive text message with my Vodaphone SIM installed and access WiFi and GPRS networks. Orange SIM won't connect at all! Both SIMS work fine in a standard phone ! Only clue I can think of here is that the Vodaphone SIM is UMPTS and GSM where the Orange is GSM only. The spare phone I tested them in was GSM only.
Could the GSM part of the M3100 be stuffed ?
I'm stumped for the time being!! It doesn't seem to make any logical sense. Maybe any of you who know the in's and out's of how the device communicates might find some clues in that...
Heeeeelp !
More details..
I've just added a few more details on the symtoms.. maybe the few extra clues might yeild some thoughts from someone !
Have you checked the band selection in Settings > Phone?
Is it possible that the phone could have become blacklisted? How long have you had it? How did you buy it? (This is probably NOT it, since the text still works.)
Have you tried a tweaker to enable HSPDA?
Had the phone for over 12 months so Blacklisted shouldn't be the issue. I've tried all the band selections including Auto but no luck.
Haven't tried the Tweaker... do you have any details on that...
Up until it suddenly stopped working it worked on all networks..
Another possible clue is that I was "Roaming" in France for a month and it was there that I made my last successful call. I have UK SIMS... I have an Australian SIM which I'll try now to see if that makes any difference..
Tried an Australian SIM roaming in the UK ! The service connects on two available networks,Vodaphone and TMobile but not on Orange and O2 (like with the Orange UK SIM). Same fault as the before with the networks it will connect to.
This seems to eliminate the SIM or Network being the fault and isolate the fault to the Device...
probably not the issues, but worth a try?
I live in a very strong 3G + HSPDA ares, but cant make or recieve anycalls tho texts work on T-mobile, i need to have my phone in 2G mode, and calls work fine???
If i leave my house and go a few miles 3G works as it should able to call and recieve etc!
Can't seem to work out how to force the phone onto 2G or 3G ... if anyone can advise I'll give that a try!
I have had very similar problems to this.
Please see my post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325149
I do think this is some sort of network problem as after I posted the issues in the thread above, I left home and travelled about 6 miles and the signal came back and the phone worked fine.
Today, I have been able to make and receice calls but all of a sudden I got cut off from a call then could not make or receive calls (incoming goes straight to voicemail).
I can however use my Orange SIM without problem and both Vodafone and Orange SIMs work fine in other phones.

You can also go into Settings > Phone > Band.
If the band tab does not appear (to the right of the network tab), then you may need to do a registry tweak.
From the very helpful wiki:
Enable/Disable GSM/UMTS Band Selection
Cingular kindly disables anything useful about the network on the 8525. To enable the Band Selection Tab on your Phone settings page, set the following:
[\HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\]
"ShowUMTSBandPage"=dword:00000001
To disable, simply clear the value to 0:
[\HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\]
"ShowUMTSBandPage"=dword:00000000

Have travelled outside England again this week and... well the phone works fine roaming on my UK Vodaphone SIM. Seems very ODD.. only thing I can put any logic to is a problem with the GSM part of the phone. It's working here in Stockholm on the 3G network no problem.
Anyone advise how I force the phone to be on GSM and 3G so I can test this theory. The BAND settings under SETTINGS>PHONE don't seem to give you this control over how it connects..
Hey i got the same problem anyone solved it yet!
Hi Sunnyb1
Since my last post I returned to England where the phone was useless. No SIM cards would work, some would not register at all but my Vodaphone SIM seemed to register but as before it would not receive calls, nor could I make calls out.
Now I'm in Australia with an Australian SIM card. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL !!
The phone works just fine !!
It's a mystery indeed...
Without any knowledge of the ins & Outs of how a SIM card / Network / and the phone work together it's impossible for me to arrive at any conclusive logic.
Hopefully someone might stand up to the plate and offer some explanation !
Anyone from HTC out there ??????

I got the phone and it was working perfectly on Orange then i tried unlocking it and ever since it has come up with "NO Service" like you everytime i put a Orange Sim in the phone it does not show up.. but when i put a Vodafone sim it works perfectly i tried reflashing the radio's many times
I unlocked this particular phone 6months before this problem showed up so I don't think the Unlock on it's own is the cause. What's particularly baffling is that a SIM may not work with the phone in one country.. but in another it works fine.
..... another country that is !
Hey Steve i have found out what the problem is after hours of research
I found this of another website
Orange & O2:
If you place an active orange or
O2 sim into a blacklisted handset you
phone will not show any signal strength
at all! If the handset is a Nokia then a
"SIM card registration failed" message
will also be displayed. If your handset is an
Ericsson then an "Invalid Mobile" message
will be displayed. For most other manufacturers
the handset will simply show no signal!
Vodafone & T-Mobile
If you place an active Vodafone or T-Mobile sim into a blacklisted handset, the phone will appear to function perfectly UNTIL you try to make an outgoing call. When you try to call out from the handset you will hear a sequence of beeps and then the call will be dropped!!
........
This means the handset you got is stolen or someone has blacklisted it ... i got mine of EBAY! and reading that i figured that it is stolen
It wont work in the UK but it will work everywhere else in the world
Mmmm... that's interesting Sunnyb1. If my phone is blacklisted then happened in JULY this year which was 8 months after I bought the phone. I bought the phone legit .
Can anyone advise what the "Blacklisting" process is.. I assume its done by using the IMEI number.
Who is the rightful owner of a handset and can any phone be blacklisted by anyone, and possibly by mistake ?
Would unlocking the phone from Orange cause a phone to be blacklisted ??
How can you "Un-blacklist" a phone.
Answered my own question here......
This website seems to have the answers
http://www.unlockme.co.uk/blacklist.html
OK... still on this thread. Can anyone advise how you find out which network in the UK has blocked your an IMEI number. I gather any of the UK networks can block any IMEI and it's not unknown for errors to be made. But only the network that blocks the IMEI can Unblock it.
Thought I'd post this before waiting forever for some call centre dimwit to give me the runaround.
Thanks...

change teh sim card possible?

Gentlemen / ladies
first off i would like to thank this site for all its help so far , i have installed colonels rom and i am delighted with it , however i have a small question.
i purchased the sprint mogul while visiting the states last week as i needed a pda and it seemed to fit all my desires , however upon bringing it home i noticed that there was no simcard slot so i cant use it here in Ireland (we seem to be a bit behind the times ) spoke to a rep here and i was told the simcard is inbuilt and it would need to go back to htc to be changed , now that isnt really feasible at the moment so i was wondering if it was possible for me to change it out or if that is even possible , i dont mind taking it apart but i can find no info on where the sim goes or if there even is one , sooooooo just wondering is it possible ?
thanks again for all the help i have recived from other threads on upgrading and thanks to the colonel for releasing a class rom
regards
To the best of my knowledge, CDMA phones don't use sim cards at all. I could be wrong.

Uh, for in Ireland you have a paperweight. There is no CDMA outside North America. There is no sim in the Mogul, and nothing in it can be reprogrammed to make it work on GSM. The entire radio portion of the phone is made for CDMA and specifically Sprint.
Sorry, but you'd be better off ebaying it and getting a GSM device.

To my knowledge, this statement isn't entirely true, as I believe that South Korea and maybe China has CDMA networks...but I could be wrong...
Everything else you stated is right on though!
Oh boy.
In a nutshell:
2 major types of wireless protocols:
GSM and CDMA.
GSM is a sim-card based allowing phone portability, and exists on a world-wide market. The sim card contains your identity, and switching it into another phone causes your identity to follow.
CDMA is phone-based, meaning every phone has a unique ID that broadcasts to the tower. That ID (sort of like the VIN number on a car) exists on only your phone, and represents your ID on the network. This actually existed long before GSM and SIM-cards, and is at a bit of a disadvantage because you can't switch phones whenver you want. Your provider has to switch it for you.
Here in the US, we have both CDMA and GSM networks now, however CDMA has been around longer, and so it is still arguably the more common technology. Lately, GSM has been catching up, but over in Europe GSM has always been around and CDMA is virtually non-existant.
Living in Ireland, I beleive that all networks are GSM, which means SIM-card based. So, you probably didn't know that there were other types of technology that weren't compatible! If anything, we here in the US are "behind the times" because we're still using an antiquated ID system as opposed to SIM cards!
HTC makes a GSM version of these devices as well, which you should consider. They are known as the Tytn and the Kaiser (our Mogul/Titan sort of comes in between, although most closely resembling the Kaiser in hardware). Next time you want to buy a phone in the US, make sure its GSM and unlocked first!
Hope this clears things up!
You should have 30 days to send back the mogul and get out of your contract. The phone will not work outside of North America. Take a look at the HTC Kaiser, its also sold as the AT&T Tilt. Its a GSM device that is very similar to the Mogul.
If you told Sprint that you were going to be going back to Ireland, I wonder why they didn't sell you the Samsung IP-830W, which works on the Sprint CDMA network in the states, but can be used on GSM/GPRS networks everyplace else.
If you can't get a full refund, maybe you can exchange the Mogul for that?
I think it's a little behind the times, but the IP830 is a pretty good phone and has a smaller slide out QWERTY keyboard.
thank you for the information , just need to find that damn receipt now and give radioshack a call , see about a swap for the tilt ,
regards
sigghhh
well it seems radioshack cant help . unless i brought it back to the store i purchased it in , and that cant really happen .
anywhoooo thanks all for the help ,

is it possible to synq my titan with another type of phone i.e nokia 6610 and have the titan act as the handsfree ? via bluetooth?
basically like the satnavs where you have the dialer but it uses your phone to connect , seems like a strange request but this would at least allow me to use the phone features
