Cannot connect GPRS with Bouygtel (french provider) - Networking

Hello Fellows,
can someone give the procedure to connect my Asian XDA (original ROM) to the Bouygtel GPRS network?
When I try, it is continiously asking for a dum name and password  . I have called the customer service of this provider, but no one knows about this problem.
Thank you to the French fellowship,
Best regards,
Laurent
:?: By the way, someone caould confirm that using the exe ROM file coocked by Jeff is safe. I am thinkig about updated the xda-developers 1.2 ROM, but I don't have any SD card reader or other stuffs.

Here is the message from the bouygue customer service :
Cliquer sur le drapeau Windows (en haut à gauche)/ Settings/ Onglet Connections/ Connections Cliquer sur le menu déroulant "Internet settings" et choisissez "New" Rentrer le nom de la connection: remplacer "My Connection" par eBouygTel Cliquer sur l'onglet Modem: Cliquer sur "New" et rentrer les paramètres suivants remplacer "My Connection" par eBouygTel
Modem: choisir "cellular line GPRS"
Baud rate: choisir 57600
I don't need to enter something in the user/login window.
After that I connect to GPRS with no problem (works either with the XDA dev rom 1.2 or the WM2003 based rom)
If it doesn't work with your asian rom maybe there are some other specific settings to change (GSM settings..?)

I only use the SD flash method but the roms (.nbf or .nb0) generated in the Jeff kitchen are safe and work perfect for me (I tried a 1.2 XDA dev cooked rom and a WM2003 cooked rom). So the exe method is surely safe too.

Merci beaucoup
I just have a loock on my first GPRS connection. Thank you for your assistance, very fruitful.
Regarding the Jeff exe ROM, I don't know what to do. I don't have all the how-know you all get to fix PocketPc, so I am afraid to kill it if the thing goes wrong. It is a 600EUR toy.
Anyway, thank you very much.
Laurent

I flashed mine 3 times with no problem. All is automatic and you do not have to be a XDA expert. Of course you always take a risk by flashing but the new roms are so cool
I personnally prefer to use the SD method as it is not dependant on my PC, on the USB connection... But seems not to have problem with the exe method.
So if you have fear to use the exe method I suggest you to buy a memory card reader (I have this one http://www.cdiscount.com/newmag/mag...&REFERER_SURFEUR=&keyid=3919539&navid=1120310)
And if for a mystical reason you had problem, this forum will help you to solve

I was also scared about screwing up my 600EUR toy too. But I am game: I flashed mine about 8 times (because I tried many versions of PocketPC OS and encountered some issues about some of them)...
Like I used to have problems with Bouygues: my GPRS was activated as of the 18th of June. I had another PDA-Phone (E-Ten P603 which is great but bulky) and I thought it was not compatible with the French network. So I ordered the iPDA at Bouygues' and received it last monday. In a first place it didn't work too. So I called the customer service (614) and I was gently routed to the Multimedia Service to take care of my issue. They could not figure out the problem too, so they decided to disable my GPRS line and to re-enable it after. By doing that, my GPRS line has been working real fine since Wednesday afternoon! I was even refund for the period I was unable to connect! Too fine: I consummed 15MB (out of my monthly 20MB subscription) within 2 days!
Downside of GPRS: too costy!
At Bouygues' the "biggest" subscription is 20MB a month at 15EUR for the first 6 months and 45EUR the months after... I hope they will reduce their prices until then...
Salut les Frenchies! 8)

I take the 10Mbytes/month for 6€ and it is enough for me. 40€ is the price of my ADSL connection so no way i take a gprs for this price.

I've just screwed up my iPDA's radio stack by upgrading it to 4.21.00 (O2 upgrade). :?
I really need someone to help me getting out of this mess! Does anyone owns a Bouygues iPDA with the original radio stack ROM and who can gently pass it on?
Merci les Frenchies...
Hi,
You got problem with the 4.21.00 O2 upgrade ?
Why would you re-flash your XDA with the old originial Bouygues rom ?
Rather put a kitchened Rom from Jeff site (a WM2003 based rom or a 3.17.03 based rom as well)
It works great on my Bouygues Ipda ...
Frenchies a la rescousse

Thank U for your answer zendrui!
Yes I got a problem with the 4.21.00 RSU... I don't any signal at all...
My previous Radio version had a weird numering: R3... something instead of the usual "4.xx.xx"... Do you think there could be several hardware design of the iPDA?
By the way if someone has the original Bouygues RSU, please let me know!

You know what...
I found the solution to my problem by myself...!
For those who encountered the same issue:
1. Bootload the PDA (hold "On/Off" button and soft reset)
2. Enter the GSM module test menu by pushing the Calendar button
3. In the menu, select this sequence:
- GSM TURN ON
- GSM RESET
- GSM 900 / 1800
In fact the RSU upgrade will kind of resetup the GSM module (or turn it off), which is apparently not suitable for the French network. So one has to set the GSM module with the right parameters...
I guess this is applicable to other countries as well.
I am so happy!
Hey in the menu I noticed options "GSM 1900" along with "GSM 900" and "GSM 1800"... Do you think the XDA is actually TRI-BAND?
Well pleased for you if it works.
Personnally I put a WM2003 4.00.05 rom and it works well.
I also saved the original rom form bouygue if needed (but it is really a too old rom)

Boot Issue (no Bootloop, or almost none)

So here's my problem! I had some issues with my herald, it worked fine for like a month or 2. Yesterday, i couldn't see my icons, so i soft booted it. Now bootloops when the SD is in, and gets stuck on the Windows Mobile screen when the SD card isn't inserted... I tried to hardboot but it has no sence since i'm not even able to boot correctly...
Bootloader shows:
IPL 4.17.0001
SPL 4.17.0000
I've got an HTC HERALD
Rom: French Windows Mobile 6
No overclockin nor modding, except of the modded 5tab Homescreen.
Is my Herald bricked? If so, please help me to unbrick it...
Please help me asap, I'm sorry for any ortographical mistakes.
Sounds like you need to install the official RUU for your phone. Go on your carrier's website and see if you can download it.
If not, you can try to install one of the ones on the Herald WIKI and see if that works.
Bon courage.
I was able to unbrick with a RUU, thanks for the information!

thx for the links
i come to the conclusion that the best rom is the one that comes with the device from the manufacter.i instaled wm5 from htc an the phone works great in compare with ani other mw6 rom that i tryed from diferent rom cookers.
if you have any sugestion in what rom should i try it is welkomed.

I can not recommend any ROM to you, it would be against my principle - flaming noobs asking about "which ROM?", "what ROM version?" and so on.
I can only tell you that fastest ROMs are the ones based on WM6.1.
The rest is up to your needs.
ya thx for the answer.
wm5 much faster

He was not mocking, it's just a saying, I was trying to show you "the way". But hey, it's a free world, everyone is entitled to their opinions, I know I have tried all WWE ROMs from WM5 to WM6.1. Have you?
i did not tryed all off them.i trayed 15 and none of them was good.
i tested various apss on wm5 and wm6 and i did not see ani diference in the performance off the apss.now i wana try the official wm6 from dobod to see how is it.
the batery consumtion in wm5 is much lower than in wm6,probapli because it uses less ram.
maybee i do no how tu configure it.

[Q] IMPORTANT HTC Magic maybe bricked after flashing Radio

English: ( Excuse me, I use google traduction cause my english isn't so good cause I'm just fourteen! )
I turned on Cyanogen 32a, but I wanted to change a rom 3pei who need the Radio 6 and the SPL 1.76! I then flashed a radio in.zip with my recovery. Having problems, I tried to reflash the radio from the command "boot fastboot radio.img". I had the image of the phone with an orange arrow, and then nothing. Exactly the same situation as in this video:youtube.com/watch?v=TBciNMhoAs8
An access anything, only difference is that when my phone is connected to the USB cable, the screen becomes a little later with white lines, while it remains black without cable. Pressing Trackball + Power, the blue LED lights. I said that I did not have access to recovery ... Is there a way to unbrick my phone??? Is-a GOLDCARD be useful???
Thanks a lot ! (add just the http and www to the youtube link cause i'm a new user)

Okk so a goldcard is useless ????
Can you get into fastboot (vol down+power)? If so, write your fastboot info here.
I'm really sorry, You are bricked. You get exactly the same situation as me 3 weeks ago: trying to get 1.76 and 6.35 etc.
Thanks God I still have warranty as at the time it die I'm using stock ROM.
No software stuff can solve it now, only jtag and hardware intervention which will void your warranty for sure and the risk is really high as jtag is quite complicated (to me at least).
If you have warranty then go to them, they will replace your mainboard. If you don't have warranty then you can try to find a jtag, not cheap: $60-70.
And the lesson is that: always follow exactly the same instruction that many follow and success, never invent anything on your own :-<
Well, imho, i believe that a goldcard + the right sappimg.nbh or sappimg.zip can fix it.
Try it and post back your results.

Hi There;
I am a noob and bought 2 used Rogers HTC Magic units to play with. I figured I might toast them so I have really just been experimenting for fun.
One is functional and running fine with stock Rogers ROM 2.1.
The other unit was running CM 6.0.0.0 DS and I tried to revert to the stock Rogers 2.1 ROM becuase it handles things like contacts, Exchange integration with Touchdown etc much better than CM.
Through a variety of half understood methods I ultimately ended up somehow updating my HBOOT to 1.76.0010 but not my radio which stayed at 3.22.20.17 and the unit went into a continual reboot cycle to the Rogers splash screen with no access to Fastboot (PWR + Vol DWN) or the recovery ROM (PWR + HOME). I knew I was baked but left it continuously rebooting itself until it drained dead. Next day I charged it, powered up with PWR + HOME and it booted into the recovery ROM and then I rebooted it back into CM although clearly it was pissed off and I got a lot of errors.
I don't know why, but for some reason just leaving it in the continual reboot cycle for a long period of time eventually got me back to the recovery ROM and PWR + Vol DWN now also works.
Just a thought....
No I can't I have no access to fastboot! mmh what's sappimg .nbh? And please is there someone who knows how to create a goldcard for debugging?????? Thx a lot

Hello ASakovoy,
I know how you feel... At least WM 5 will be supported for a little while longer. I've been trying to upgrade a WM 2003 iPAQ (Next to be dropped from support). It is hard finding upgrades for these machines.
Since HP never issued an upgrade for the rx5900 series you will have to try your luck Googling for ROMs. Someone may have cooked one for your device. I've found that lots of persistent searching is better to get results than just asking and hoping someone who knows finds your request. Sorry, the searching really is up to you. I hope you have better luck than I have had so far.
HP does have Tom Tom 6 Western Europe for download still:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...cc=us&swItem=ip-48733-1&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
I assume it is in ENGlish. You may want to download the file and save it on your PC.
Another option to look at is getting Linux to boot on your device. Most likely you would boot into Linux from an SD card - rather than flashing your ROM. Then you could choose between WM and Linux as needed.
That too appears hard to accomplish. Your device has a similar processor to my rx3115. They both use the Samsung sc3244x cpu with an ARMv4T instruction set. More work has been done (both for WM and Linux) for Intel and Texas Instrument cpu's...
But if you look around enough you might find some options.
Good Luck.
Can't really help with what your asking but would like to make one suggestion for improvement. I'm able to use an 8GB SDHC card with my RX5915 using the hack in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344338
Only problem I have with the hack is having to do a soft reset to get the card recognized again after the unit shuts off.

Hello RumoredNow:
Thank you for your contribution. look at the link Tom Tom 6.
to me is more important now to get a WM6 or more to serve my "ipaq".
Or all windows mobile (wm6 to wm6) are the same, removing the language, and little else?
supports my "ipaq" a wm6 or wm6.5?
how do I install on my sd card?

soporta mi "ipaq" un wm6 o wm6.5?
como lo instalo en mi sd card?

You may want to look at my thread of what I've been going through to try and upgrade an old iPAQ:

Are you asking how to install a ROM flash from an SD card?
To upgrade your OS off the card?
First you need someone who has a compatible ROM. That's what you have to search for.

Hi RumoredNow , I'm reading all your lengthy post, with the difficulty that my English is very bad and usually need a translator (google translator), so the translation is not perfect, and therefore the understanding is more complicated.
And it is clear that the important thing is to find a wm6 rom or above compatible (or a cooked wm5.1 ...).
The other day I saw a video on my ipaq and I see that has features that I do not see in my Poquet ... so I think it's a cooked wm5.1 version.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py1d3imfb9u&feature=player_embedded
If it is true that is cooked, it means that deveria be a there to download ... where? that is the question .....
SORRY......I saw a problem in the direct link of the video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py1d3imfb9u&feature=player_embedded
LOL - I have seen that video. That is my iPAQ model series (rx3000) they show on there.
That is not an Operating System. It is just a dressed up display to LOOK like iPhone.
It is only eye-candy. If you take your dog and put a child's costume on him so he is dressed up like a cat - he will still BE a dog and ACT LIKE a dog. Same thing. You just dress the iPAQ in the costume of iPhone, but it still would BE WM 5.

I Own an rx 5910. I have done quite a bit of research and so far I can tell you that: there is no possibility NOW of upgrading it to wm6. . Actually it seems that most probably it will never happen: to have wm 6 on rx 5900 series. If you are interested, I could post two or three links of threads in this forum and elsewhere that make this very clear.
In the youtube post you make above, there are many videos involved and am not sure which one you are referring to. If it is the one on voice commands on rx 5910, you simply have to get voice to go. I have it installed in my iPAQ and from time to time I do use it when am driving.

I've been trying to find someone who can cook a ROM for iPAQ rx3115 (straight Pocket PC - no phone). Samsung sc32440 CPU @ 300 mhz. 64MB RAM 32MB ROM...
I have the last update of WM 2003.

There are a lot of rx3115 owners dying to upgrade. If you cooked a WM 5 of 6.1 ROm for that device I would make sure to spread your fame both far and wide.

Sorry to say, but it's not possible. WM5 needs at least 64MB ROM. And there is no WM5 kernel for iPAQ rx3115 - only HP can make it. Windows CE4 and CE5 have completely different memory managament.

Theoritically I could make a new ROM, but I still need shipped ROM.
Now I can't do anything, because there is NO ROM file for rx5900 Series iPAQs.

There is no use of your ROM, as update loader software also is needed.
