GPRS Settings - Strange string.. - Networking

Hi all,
I'm in Italy wit WIND Sim card..
I asked for a general GPRS configuration and an operator said me..
*99# to call (as usual)
and this strange string...
+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet.wind"
Any ideas on where can I put this string???
Thanks
Fabio

It means "internet.wind" (without the quotes) is the 'Access point name', which goes in the field by the same name in the connection properties.

Sender address should be set to Phone Number and Sender address should be your 10 digit mobile number. So check these settings where ever they maybe.

[SOLVED] MMS-Settings

Hello together,
I bought my QTEK9100 some weeks ago and everything works fine (after ROM-Update)... instead of MMS.
I use the german ePlus-Settings and GPRS works fine. But I may enter the wrong MMS-Settings, because I cannot send or receive any MMS.
Can anyone help me?
Could you be so kind and share the settings you have entered for GPRS on your Qtek? I haven't been able to get it to work on my MDA II.
Thanks
i also want to know how to set up mms.

Sorry, I'm on travel at the moment. When I'm back, I'll post the GPRS-Settings.
Klingt gut, vielen Dank im voraus.
Sounds great, thanks in advance.
Ok, here are the settings to configure GPRS on Windows Mobile 5 (used settings are for ePlus Germany).
I have a german device, so i have to translate manually. Original names and descriptions may be different:
1. Open start menu, then choose "Settings" -> "Connections"
2. Open "Connections"
3. Go to the Tab "Advanced" and click on "choose networks"
4. On the next screen, you'll see 2 connection settings. Click on the upper "New"-button
5. Enter a name for your new connection (e.g. GPRS)
6. Open the "Modem"-tab
7. In the "Modem"-tab click on "New"
8. On the next screen enter a name for the new connection (e.g. GPRS Internet) and choose "Cellular Line (GPRS)", click on "Next"
9. Enter your accesspoint (e.g. internet.eplus.de), click on "Next"
10. Enter username and password for xour connection (e.g. Username: eplus, Password: eplus)
11. Click on Advanced and check, if "Use server-assigned IP address" is activated in both tabs
12. Click on "Ok" until you are in the screen, described in step 4
13. To use your GPRS-Connection to connect to the internet, you'll have to choose it in the upper connection setting.
14. Open Pocket Internet Explorer and enter any URL (e.g. http://wap.google.com).
15. Your device will now connect to the internet via GPRS and display the requested page.

this is an english-speaking forum, so other languages are not really welcome. By the way; i tried to set up mms for mny operator with the same method and it does not work.

I'm quite aware of that and I won't disagree with you on that point. If I would have posted in German, I would've posted a translation as well. Anyway, it seems like getting MMS to work on most PPCs is a major task which takes some educated guessing.
Try this
As described above
1. Open start menu, then choose "Settings" -> "Connections"
2. Open "Connections"
3. Go to the Tab "Advanced" and click on "choose networks"
4. On the next screen, you'll see 2 connection settings. Click on the upper "New"-button
5. Enter a name for your new connection (e.g. GPRS)
6. Open the "Modem"-tab
7. In the "Modem"-tab click on "New"
8. On the next screen enter a name for the new connection (MMS) and choose "Cellular Line (GPRS)", click on "Next"
9. Enter your accesspoint (mms.eplus.de), click on "Next"
10. Enter username and password for your connection (e.g. Username: eplus, Password: wap)
11. Click on Advanced and check, if "Use server-assigned IP address" is activated in both tabs
then
12: Tap OK and x to close everything
13: Open the messaging application
14: Press the menu softkey
15: Select MMS Configuration
16: Tap the servers tab
17: Tap New
18 Enter the following details:
server name: - E-plus
Gateway: 212.023.097.153
Port Number: 9201
server address: http://mms/eplus.de
Connect via: (here, select the connection created above)
Size : (go for the biggest and bring it down later if it fails.)
Wap Version: 2.0 should work on all modern networks.
19: Tap ok
20: Tap Set as default
that should do it. As I'm here in the UK, i am going by the settings over at modaco.com for eplus, so check those with your provider.
Should work for you!

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\SizeLimit]
"SendCount"-> Setting how Many "Sending Size limitations" listed in DropDown Listed ..
"SendDefault"=dword:00019000 -> Setting the Default Send Limitation
"SendLimit1"=dword:0000C800 -> Send Limit one can be change ex. 50K=dword:0000C800
"SendLimit2"=dword:00019000 -> Send Limit two can be change ex. 100K=dword:00019000
"SendLimit3"=dword:0003E800 -> Send Limit three can be change ex. 250K=dword:00003E800

Hey guys. Thanks for all your help.
Now I fixed it. 8)
All settings were correct, except the port.
The port 9201 didn't work, so I tried the port :!: :!: :!: 5080 :!: :!: :!: for Nokia-mobiles today.
Now I can send and receive any MMS-Message.
@Triband: I'm sure, you know german, but as this is an english forum and some other users could have your problem, too, I decided to write the HowTo in english.
Thanks for the port hint, I'll have to see if I can get this to work as well. I wasn't able to locate the port option under the MMS Server setup on WM2003SE. But the GPRS part works great .

T-Mobile MMS Settings?
Originally, I wrote:
I have a similar problem with my Jasjar and T-Mobile (USA): MMS messages just sit there, and occasionally I get a notification that they couldn't be sent...? My Jasjar was purchased independently and is unlocked. Is there some T-Mobile USA file I need to upload to the device? And can I do it via my Mac and Missing Sync?

Well, I uploaded a T-Mobile settings file which I had downloaded from i-mate, et voilá! I was able to send MMSes. It also (when I choose to disconnect from the GPRS network) restored the G-in-a-square that had become dashed two-way arrows. Unfortunately, there's still something interfering with syncing with my Mac via Missing Sync for Windows Mobile.... Thanks! Cheers,
Has either one of you tried to contact your provider and actually ask them to help you with the settings? I mean really, CALL customer service and have them either walk you through it, or get the settings and we'll help you input them if it comes to that.
Hi,
No, I havn't. The reason is that I do have:
- VGA hack (OZ)
- load of programs (which shouldn't affect anyway MMS as they are not affecting emails and texts)
- I've done full backup + restore using SPB backup tool (from older ROM to newer, as my phone went for service)
Now I going to do hard reset.
I just have to create list of installed programs, prepare them etc.
I've even installed windows
Anyway, it looks like something is going on with MMSes...
Cheers
Chris
None of the things you mentioned can be used as an excuse for not calling your provider of the settings:
a. OzVGA has a nice little button which will allow you to boot in normal mode.
b. Nothing to do with MMS
c. That might be a problem altogether, it's generally not recommended restoring on newer ROM.

I'm using T-Mobile. Although in the Netherlands.
I had to use "internet" as the accesspoint name (step 9 in that data account step by step instruction), but I guess that's just different for the US. I also had to use CHAP authentication in the GPRS settings instead of PAP.
BTW I saw another step by step and this seems to be for internet connections rather than wap connections:
Use Your Phone As A Modem
Tap Start.
Tap Settings.
Tap on the Connections tab.
Tap the Connections icon.
Tap Add a new modem connection under T-Mobile GPRS.
Enter T-MobileInternet in the Enter a name for the connection field.
Tap to select Cellular Line (GPRS) from the Select a modem drop down list.
Tap Next.
Enter internet2.voicestream.com in the Access point name field.
Tap Next.
Tap Finish.
The new Internet profile is now configured and ready for use.
SOLVED! With screenshots!
I said above I couldn't help, but in the meantime, I've solved my own problems and posted the screenshots and procedures, which I hope might help you. Here's the solution with screenshots!
Basically: first, revise the T-Mobile USA procedures to eliminate any leading zeroes in IP addresses (e.g. change "...050..." to "...50..."), and second, after making your changes, be sure to power off the device (briefly press the power button and release), and then repower it. Hope this helps! Cheers,

Using XDA / Hermes on Vodafone GPRS ?

Guys,
got a problem :
- I took my O2 XDA and inserted my Vodafone Sim card that I used perfectly on a BlackBerry so I was hoping to use the XDA (Hermes) instead on the Vodafone network.
I follow the instructions on a threat here on how to connect to GPRS on Vodafone (create an Internet profile, web/web as Username etc..) but still.. when I open Internet Explorer Mobile it can't connect.
Any hint ?
I can only find iold (2005) threat explaining how to do so I am guessing that Vodafone has changed their connection behaviour now.
Thanks for your help,
