Orange WAP Problem - Networking

Help. I have entered all the correct Orange WAp settings into my connections (using the GPRS not dialup option), but I cant get IE or EZWAP to load any WAP pages.
When I manually make the WAP connection it authenticates fine but IE says "cant find page" and EZWAP sits there with it's connection timer running. :x
Anyone know how to overcome this? (or do I dump my XDA in the bin?)

Orange UK EZWAP and XDA

I've had my XDA on Orange UK GPRS for ages but have never been able to browse to any WAP pages despite having entered the Orange WAP for GRPS settings.
I guess I got something screwed but even using EZWAP 2.1 I cant get to any WAP sites. I am about to try EZWAP 2.5.
Anyone out there got it all working properly?
If so what are ALL the settings please?
I had the same problem, but managed to get it working.
Here are the settings i use :-
Connection name- Orange WAP
Modem- Cellular Line GPRS
Baud rate- 19200
APN- orangewap
In the advanced settings leave everthing blank
Now in EZWAP 2.5
Tools/options/general
Connection- Orange WAP
Home page- http://orange.multimedia
Tools/options/connection
Select Gateway
Address 192.168.071.035
Port 9201
Uncheck connectionless and WTLS
Leave the timeouts as they are.
I'm on pay monthly, but i think all the settings are the same for pay as you use, except the APN which is paygwap
Hope that helps

Orange WAP UK on the XDA
Gotta say, after all the bum stleers I have had from Orange, O2 and other XDA forums and feedback generally, it was a pleasure to receive straight forward no-nonsense information that actually worked!!
I entered everything just as you recommended and launched EZWAP.
Up popped my Orange WAP homepage.
However I tried to navigate away and then navigate back and it's come back with The page cannot be found.. blah blah... check browser settings etc.
Gonna play for a bit longer... any further assistance would be useful.
Thanks

WAP and T-Mobile

Hi
ON my nokia I had wap access to check headlines and football scores. How do I enable the same facility on an XDA ?
You need to run a seperate WAP browser, like EZ WAP. Search the boards here for EZ WAP and you'll find links to places to get it. Once you have it, there's a great WAP config description for T-Mo at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=3675
Hope this helps
I've tried following the steps given in several different threads for configuring this on my XDA but have been unsuccessful. I've been trying to use EZWap to configure it, but it cannot connect. I think its something to do with my network connections on my phone that just arent right. Can anyone walk me through setting up the actual network connection settings for WM2003? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i installed the mms from the O2 uk rom... (from zip posted here somewhere)...
i get mm2 notifications, but i cant download them...
any ideas?
WAP using IE in WM2003
Supposedly IE in WM2003 has support for WAP browsing. However, when I set up a "TZONES" connection and set up the AP to ( wap.voicestream.com ) and the proxy to ( 216.155.165.50:9201 ), and I try to navigate to:
wap.myvoicestream.com
It no longer works. However, if I navigate to any "regular" www page, it comes up just fine. Has anyone else successfully been able to configure their WM2003 ( TMobile PPCPE ) to access their TZones via IE using the WAP connection/Proxy settings ?
I was thinking of installing EzWap 2.5 again, but during the install it said it was going to replace wapdrv.dll and I wasn't going to run the risk of overwriting a necessary file, so I exited the installation of ExWAP.
Anyone gotten this to work ???

Eureka !!! You don't need EzWap or Klondike !!!
<Edited - It was LarryH from Horward Forums who originally helped me out with this...it was his idea to try out a different URL monicker. Thanks again Larry ! >
With LarryH's help, we've discovered that it IS possible to access T-Mobile's TZones pages once you've undergone the upgrade to WM2003 from T-Mobile's SITE.
After you set up your connection to use the WAP accesspoint:
wap.voicestream.com
Under Proxy Settings:
WAP: 216.155.165.50 port: 9201
SWAP: 216.155.165.50 port: 9203
You don't have to set the HTTP or SOCKS,
as TMobile doesn't support SOCKS, and the HTTP port ( 80 ) is already open on their gateway server.
To access your TZones homepage, just open IE, and enter:
wsp://wap.myvoicestream.com
apparently entering:
http://wap.myvoicestream.com
will confuse IE in WM2003 for PPC, and
it will say "Unable to find page".
Everyone, enjoy your TZones under WM2003.

but my MSN Messenger don't work
my MSN Messenger still don't work. I have set access point to wap.voicestream.com
do i need to set up something else? or purchase other data plans from tmobile?

I just tried that on my PPC PE and I was able to sign on to MSN Messenger. Are you sure you have the Connection you set up to access the proper proxy address and ports. Make sure you setup the user/password for your msn account properly, because if you type it in wrong, it won't let you log in.
Let me know if you run into any problems.

Click to collapse
Awesome !!!
Now I can have MSN Messenger using T-Zones / WAP access. This is wonderful.
Now with just WAP, I have acesss to port 80 & 110 and MSM messenger.
Thanks a bunch!!!!

Thanks for any guidance

it's nearly to do with Vodafone GPRS/MMS....

Hi all, sorry to bother you with this one!
I got my O2 XDAII unlocked and used it with no drama at all with my Vodafone SIM. I then put the GPRS settings in and it worked fine with MSN Messenger and IE etc. I then put the MMS settings in and started sending and receiving picture messages perfectly.
The problem, i hear you ask....
Well, I got TomTom 3 and a program called POI Warner which is used to alert me of POI's (read, speed cameras  ) and it wanted to connect to the Internet to update it's database. It always used to try once i'd dropped the XDA in the cradle. As something wasn't right somewhere, it used to lock up the XDA until it gave up trying and then it would release the XDA so that i could use it again. This all seemed to be because of the Activesync passthrough settings. :?
I set them as I should have (after reading on here what to do - thanks!) and then it worked fine. Still with me...??????
It seems that i can't send picture message anymore
I have all the settings from the other posts on here but somehow, my settings in the connections screen have gone loopy.
Can someone on Vodafone PLEASE PLEASE let me know what settings they have in the connections screen, be it two sets (My Work Settings and another) or (Vodafone GPRS and Vodafone MMS - as i used to have). And when you click the advanced tab at the bottom of the connection screens, which programs do you have for 'Programs that connect to the internet should use' and programs that connect to a private network should use'???
when you edit either of these, it comes up with ANOTHER connection screen - what you have got in there??
This is on top of the Server mentioned in the MMS composer screen that needs another mention of the same server in there!!!
If I can get this working with someone's help , I hereby promise to take a screenshot of every screen I have and put an idiots guide to getting this working up on the Web should I need it again!!
thanks in advance Guys!!
Firstly to clean things up a bit it'd look in the registry under [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Destinations] and remove all but:
'The Internet'
'Work'
'My Work Network' - or whatever it was renamed to
'My ISP' - or whatever it was renamed to
Then resetup all the connections.....
Here are the settings I have, which work perfectly.
Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:
Vodafone Internet (My ISP renamed)
Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:
Vodafone Live! (My Work Network renamed)
Settings:
Vodafone Internet
Under modem...
Name: Internet GPRS
modem type: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access Point Name: Internet
User name: web
Password: ip
No extra settings under advanced
Vodafone Live!
Under modem...
Name: Vodafone Live! GPRS
modem type: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access Point Name: wap.vodafone.co.uk
User name: wap
Password: wap
No extra settings under advanced
Under Proxy Settings...
Both boxes ticked.
Under Advanced...
WAP: 212.183.137.12 : 9201
MMS Settings:
Connect via: Vodafone Live!
Under Servers...
Vodafone MMS - just what I called it (should only be one in there)
Gateway: 212.183.137.12
Port number: 9201
Server address: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
& I put my sending size as 100K - but its your choice.

Orange M5000 MMS failure?!

Does anyone with an Orange (UK) M5000 use MMS successfully?
I've tried the settings listed elsewhere but can't get MMS to send or receive. Is there anything I'm missing?!
In the connections tab, I have two connection groups - Orange World and 'My Work Network'. In the Orange World group, the following modems are listed;
Auto pick
Orange WAP
Orange MMS
Orange GPRS WAP
Orange GPRS internet
The Orange MMS uses orangemms as the APN, user name and password are blank.
By default, Orange GPRS internet is selected, should this still be ok for sending MMS?
Internet access works ok.
In the MMS configuration page, servers tab,
the gateway is 192.168.224.10, port 9201
server address is http://mms.orange.co.uk/
connect via=Orange World,
wap version 2.0.
I have tried changing the connect via setting to Orange MMS, the internet, the wap network...nothing seems to work!
Can anyone shed any light on this one? I definately have MMS on my account.
Many thanks.
If you look under
Settings.....Connections.....Advanced tab, then select networks.....
"Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:" Should be Orange MMS
Is this the case?
That was the problem, thanks for that.

o2 network setup has changed...

Anyone noticed that o2 has changed their network setup?
I'm a regular ROM flasher and when i start the connection it used to connect to "O2 UK" but now it gives you the option of "O2 postpay" & "O2 prepay".
(I choose the postpay option)
The problem I have is with my MMS server now that i have to choose postpay or prepay...
When connecting using the old connection MMS wouldn't connect to wap for anything other than MMS, but now it will connect for anything (i.e. email, weather, opera/IE, etc)
Does anyone know how to make my MMS server to only allow MMS to use it for connection? (I'll be using Mobile internet connection for other connections)
(Already using 'Data Connection' program to turn it off when not needed but what a hassle!)
