Problem with GSM dial-up to O2 Mobile Web service, using XDA - Networking

As far as I can tell, this particular problem has not been posted - apologies if it has and I've missed it. When trying to connect to O2 mobile web using GSM dial-up I get an error message "Disconnected, Communications error with modem: Failed to write on serial port, The security account database contains an internal inconsistency."
3 questions: 1. can anyone advise what the problem is? 2. Would moving to GPRS solve it?

Attempting to use my Xda as wireless modem with w2k laptop.
Connection to internet is swiftly established but incoming data stops after roughly 10kbytes per request (e.g. page refresh). So a full web page never downloads.
I get the same problem over serial ir IR (virtual com5).
I'm going through the O2 internet portal (using modem initialisation AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","MOBILE.O2.CO.UK" and dialing *99#) but would rather dial in through my ISP (Demon).
O2 tech support helpfull but totally stumped. Any ideas or pointers gratefuly received.

Germany - EPLUS(DEBITEL): GPRS & modem settings?

Hi all.
Does someone know the dial-up numbers and other settings for using the xda
1) for direct mobile internet access (Pocket Internet Explorer)
and
2) as a modem in connection with a laptop
if subscribed to eplus via debitel? Since not familiar with GPRS I don't even know whether GPRS should work with my Time&more package without having to order further services from my provider.
Looking for every bit of information. Thanks, Steffen

Internet access via WiFi on XDA IIs

Forgive me if this has afterall been asked before, copious use of the search function has returned nothing of any use or in most cases, any relation.
I've recently aquired an O2 XDA IIs, unlocked, and I'm using it with my T-Mobile sim card. I'm trying to access the internet via the WiFi connection, but every time I attempt to connect (for example with MSN Messenger) it tries to connect via GPRS. I've tried making a new connection in settings, or editing existing connections, and yet all I'm presented with to connect through are these:
Bluetooth Dialup Modem
Cellular Line
Cellular Line (GPRS)
Generic IrDA
Hayes Compatible on COM1:
^I don't see a "Wireless LAN" option there.
If anyone could shed some light on this, it would be -very- much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

wi-fi has a setting of it's own in the connection manager which needs to be switched on before you can connect to anything.
You need to connect to your wi-fi network, then activate MSN Messenger etc

XDA 2 with T Mobile - GPRS Problems

Hi
I apologise in advance because I'm sure my problem is simply solved but I;ve not used the XDa for a while and I'm back to square 1. I have tried searching for the anser but I think my question is just to basic.
My XDA2 is unlocked and I use a T-Mobile sim in it. The problem I have is with the TOMTOM. When i try to update traffic info on the fly I get a message saying modem hung up (or something similar). It works fine when connecting via the cradle and my PC.
Now I think this is because the XDA2 is trying to connect using the O2 settings when I am on the road.
So my question is how do enter and then I get the XDA2 to use the T-Mobile settings?
EDIT: Sorry forgot to say so far I have done the following:
Start
settings
connections
Add new modem connection
enrtered T-Mobile
selected cellular line (GPRS)
entered access point as general.t-mobile.uk
user name as user
password as wap
Ok and update
seems it is connecting after all. Problem is I have to connect via GPRS first then up date the traffic. It's not picking up the connection if I just update direct from TomTom
any ideas?
I don't think you can do much about that, cause the tomtom, must automatically try to establish the GPRS connection.. like Internet Explorer does, it automatically checks if you have GPRS or Wi-fi connection, if not connected for you automatically. after reading your post. it does not start your GPRS connection, have you look into the settings of the tomtom, to see if he has an option that you can let it connect through your GPRS automatically?

RAS Connection Issue on 3G O2 Atom Life

I have existing software that establishes a RAS connection on PPC2003 using IPWorks NetDial component. I am now trying to get the same program to run on a 3G device running Mobile 5 (O2 Atom Life) without success. The IPWorks RAS utility returns 'The port is already in use or is not configured for Remote Access dialout'. The phonebook entry I am using connects successfully when done manually, and I have also confirmed that nothing else has a data connection. I have also tried the RAS utility from Sapphire Solutions with no success either. The Sapphire utility can see an existing USB Activesync connection on PPC2003 but fails to do so on the 3G Mobile 5 device. Can anyone help me with this problem? Is it a 3G issue, Mobile 5 issue, or even a problem with the device itself?
