hey pplz. well i got my new xda 2 some days back and am kinda lost. firstly sorry if this is the wrong place to post it. ok lil history of my phone. the phone was bought from u.k. and was locked on O2 contract. now its not locked thanks to this forum. but im lost on the RAM and ROM part. the rom is 1.03.00 USA isnt this kinda old for this. secondly whts the USA part in it. and how much memory a xda 2 supp to have. these are the details below

Even tho the ROM and RSU look a bit old but as long as your device is working fine, don't try to mess up with ROM flashing till you get enough experience.
The ROM size is 64 MB in which 32 MB of them are used for the OS image. The extended ROM is 16 MB used for initial customization after hard reset (you will learn how to modify it soon) and other 16 MB used as additional storage ... the RAM is 128 MB as it says
ya but i cant sync via BT or IR. only with docking station it actisync. i dunno if my rom is working fine. it did kinda hang once. acc. to u the specs. i gave are normal huh ?

Guys, be carefull when trying the upgrade, there seems to be major problems with the procedure.. so far, every set i tried to upgrade died and had to be revived via SD flashing.... there you have it. use at your own risk.
everything went perfect for me, except for a coutry ID error which anyway i could easely solve :wink:

One think you have to make sure of when you are flashing a rom is that your USB cable should ALWAYS be plugged in a direct on motherboard USB and not on a USB Hub! Fofodam I guess thats why you didnt manage to flash your magician succesfully! And you also have to change the country code of those ROMS to the one of your magician! :wink:

yes, i was wondering this too. Seems a huge difference in size.
well, i've downloaded both the uk and wwe version if you extract the exe with winzip then you find that the actual files are both 60.2mb, so I'm guessing that they are the same really.
again, the difference is in the extended ROM, only.
I have an mda flashed imate rom but 141 ext rom (arabic). How can I replace this only with 1.03.143? In general how can we get the extened roms only and flsh it to a device? I tried to flash all over but I get a message '120 wrong country code' or something. I did the change.bat with WWE and GER but nothing is working. still the same reply. I want to get rid or the arabic ext-rom.

What password have you used for changing your country ID ?
Anyone got the UK iMate JAM ROM downloaded? All my attempts from the clubimate site are slow and failing after 30MB or so. Could it be uploaded to the ftp site?

Uh-oh I just sold off my Mini O2 to get hold of the 828 so I can get the 128mb RAM. Unfortunately have not found one with English OS. Any ideas if available? I tried 2C and Gome and they only have the Chinese OS ver. Is the Mini O2 coming out with 128mb ram with factory warranty?
I wonder if the case will fit.

I don't think you can use your 818/XDAII mini case as 828 buttoms are larger and 828 is a little bit larger than 818.
828 English
Just got 2 machines 828, aarived with CHS rom version 1.12 both Radio and OS. I flashed them with the OS 1.12 replacing the header (416 bytes) and wih Rom version 1.13 (also changed the header). Used both for the last day and half with no problem.
My HKG friends with wanted to upgrade their existing O2Mini , (loaded with 1.11CHS and the other with Dopod 818 loaded with 1.11CHS ). The Dopod 818 took the dumped rom with no need to change the header.. and for the O2Mini I had to change the header. Both machines are working great with the original version of the 828 (1.1206).
So rom version between the Dopod 818 and the 828 are swapable.
Both rom images will uploaded to the FTP

If you read previous posts about that message, someone said it was because the 6.5 upgrade is not for your region. Hong kong in europe?
You have to wait for the upgrade to be available for hong kong/asia.
Hong Kong belongs to asia.actually I live in another country,but got my phone in h.kong.

htc has now actually realesed the official update
when i tried to upgrade mine from the htcpedia one it bricked my phone, i mananaged to recover it and install stock 6.1 onto it so hopefully now that im going from a stock 6.1 rom rather than a custom 6.5 it should work lol

You may also have S/N HT98LL as I, now I know it's from hongkong (I'm and bought my phone in Paraguay )
Is there anyway to install european ROM? breake the zone from my phone to install official ROM from somewhere else?

This has managed to brick mine as well - how did you recover?
It only goes to the touch diamon 2 loading screen and then freezes.

Figured it out:
They have only released European versions of the upgrade which does not work with those of us that have asian ones. The HTC huys don't have a release date for the Asian English Winmo 6.5 ROM release.
Not impressed really.

Branded TD2's got other serials, so you can only dl ROMs released by your vendor. Also you won't be able to flash the ROM if phone is not unlocked (you need hardspl 1.83).

I've bought my phone unbranded and unlocked, it is not a phone from my provider. The serial i've put in to the field for download ist valid, otherwise i wouldn't get so far to the select the rom file and the the region.
I wrote to the HTC support and they answered: "Wir moechten Sie bitten, den Download zu einem spaeteren Zeitpunkt noch einmal zu versuchen. "
But maybe its better to leave a running system at it is. I've read the thread "Issues with the official 6.5 build" and it does not fills me with confidence in 6.5. Maybe i should try a cooked rom. Will see.
The official HTC Rom is ok, but I really can recommend udK's Leo R6 (German version) or Dutty's Holy Grail R1 (a bit faster but WWE). Both are better than stock ROM.
Today I have flashed my TD2 with your recommended udK Leo R6 and I'm surprised, I have much more space left after the installation. Original, as I bought my device, there were only 180 mb free data space, with this cooked rom I have far over 200 mb left after flashing. Until now, after some hours of playing around i like it, it feels faster. And I'm very happy, that my first attempt of hardspl and rom flashing was successful.

My ROM is "Eastern Europe" (Bought in UK!) and they told me to go to

Sure enough, a valid ROM was available for download Apparently they won't to hosting all the ROM's to the HTC site!

Thats the wording on the email I received.
When I downloaded the ROM, I extracted the SDDL file and the PRG folder to the root of a blank 4GB minisd card.(the file in the prg folder is TG01WP_5005000176 26/01/10)
When I tried to run the file TG01_SDDL, I click download and get an error...
Download failed.
File name is invalid!!
I phoned the help number on the email, the guy who answered told me to download the update direct from the Toshiba website.
I did so and after repeating the steps to instal the update. I still get the same error.
After much head scratching I did notice on the software download page that the requirements for the update in the important checklist part read as follows...
Before you do the three steps please check that:
Your phone is fully charged
You are not already running Windows Mobile® 6.5 ... Reveal- to check this, power up your device, and go to;
Start>Settings>System>About>Version. It should say Windows Mobile® 6.1 professional. If is does not, you will not be able to upgrade to Windows Mobile® 6.5.
You have backed up all your personal data to a PC, laptop or a microSD card in your phone. ... RevealBackup contacts by going to Start>Contacts backup>Import/Export)
Back up other items such as appointments, tasks, Internet favourites, downloaded applications, images and all other files by going to Start>Programmes>ActiveSync.
You may also need to de-activate the licenses of any applications you have downloaded ... Reveal
So this looks like the 6.5 update.
The wording in the email states that its an update to 6.5 but the link takes me to the 6.5 update
So whats going on...
nope..its the same one I downloaded 2 weeks ago, in otherwords the one I have now..this atleast for the Italian ROM...what about for other languages..could well be that Toshiba..as usual..launches new WM updates and then announces it publicly 20 years later?!?

The french one is the newer from 16.03.2010.

I also recieved the update mail and cheked what they offer. I use German o2, bought my device with 6.5.0 in in December last year. Now they offering me the update from september 09 (date of the tsw. file in the update pack)but telling in the mail: if you updated to 6.5 before march,16. in 2010 the new update is recommended.

yes its just and update if you bought your phone beforebefore March 16th 2010 it may have 6.5 already but this is newer. It really makes a huge difforence to the phone. Its software version is newer than the old 6.5 upgrade toshiba listed. But it was available a couple of weeks before now. Seems they only just got around to telling tg01 owners.
