GPRS configuration - Networking

How to use non t-mobile GPRS on MDA? I didn't find a way to configure.

Select a Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Next>
Access Point Name: internet.fido.ca (Fido in Canada)
or Access Point Name: vpn.com (Rogers AT&T in Canada)
Go to your GPRS provider's site and get the access point name and the username/password combination to use (fido/fido for fido in Canada, and wapuser1/wap for Rogers AT&T)

My provider does not provide an access point name. ???

Cingular GPRS

Can anyone help me with getiing my GPRS to work when not in the cradle...I used the information on Cingular's Development site and still no luck...I would like to use the device like my old phone, push the "i" and I was connected...any help would be greatly appreciated.
WM2003
ROM A.30.09 ENG
Radio Version A.33.02
Protocol Version 1.3.3
I get The cannot connect, make sure your phone is on or check your settings...
Download newest T-Mo Radio Stack (get from http links in announcment posting) Manually upgrade you radiostack (See threads/search tool for "upgrade downgrade radiostack) you will find enough info after reading a little to make this work. Prob is that ATT radio 1.3.3 proto' does not work on Cing/T-Mo network. You can leave your current ROM, but might want to switch all together to the new T-Mo stuff.

Hi,
How do you like your XDA with Cingular? I am in NYC and can only get 1 to 2 bars with an ok recpetion. Are you using media works as well?
Cant get Cingular GPRS to work...assitance?
Had an old T-mobile pocket PC...unlocked it and flashed XDA Developrs ROM. What are the settings for GPRS, I have the wireless Cingular Media Package
ROM 3.17.03 ENG
ROM Date 5/15/03
Radio 6.18.99
Protocol 324E4
Still Lost
If someonecan email me or pm about this config. on Cingular Service. I am just having a hard time getting the GPRS/ WAP/Internet to connect. I am using a SX56. Plaese Help Someone! :?

This is what I use for my GPRS connection with media works. Does your sx56 has a triangle, raoming, icon on?
I am having problmes regitering my xda I on the Cingular netowrk here in Atlanta. Cingular operate here on the 850 band and, while my device can see the T-Mo and ATT networks, I cannot register on either one. I see that folks in this post have connected to Cingular. Are they operating at 1900 in your areas?
I am in NYC and Cingular still operates under GSM 1900. I am not quite sure whether they will start to move away from GSM 1900 to GSM 850 anytime soon, but we are switching to T-mo in october.
Switching is probably a good idea. Right now Cingular are preventing roaming if a native 850 band network is available. If you travel, you will probably have problems...
Changing the sequence
Has anyone that is on Cingular tried to change the sequence of the network search once connected. Phone-->Tools-->Options-->Network-->Set Networks and then check the T-Mobile and AT&T boxes and move them to the top. That should theoretically change the search function for the networks. I.e. look for the T-mob and ATT networks and try to connect prior to looking at the Cingular ones.
Just a thought...
I am in Dallas and they are 850 around here so I have not had a chance to try this myself... but seemed logical.
Dustoff
There are a couple of reasons for us switching to T-mo:
- Hopefully by OCT family plan will still be $9.99 with unlimited Mo to Mo (I think Cingular $9.99 might not be around for that long)
- $19.99 unlimited internet plan anyway you want to use but not abuse it
- GSM 1900 MHZ
- My local sub dealer offers way better deal for T-mo phones
I am hoping that by october P800 will be free and P900 could be on a sub $150 for 1st line and a free V300 for my wife line.
Does anyone know whether this unlimited $19.99 is good for both Blackberry (I will register with t-mo and blackberry.net), cell/pda phone, pcmcia card for laptop and phone connect to laptop via usb/infared? or Do I need to purchase $19.99 for blackberry and another $19.99 for the rest?
Please advise.
I have a new SX56 and used all your settings but no luck
I have used all your settings. I still cann't get connect with cingular.
Does anyone know how to get the configurator on the simens website to send a configuration for sx56 even though they don't support it.
I know the sx1 is list on the site. Is there anyway to modifiy the config of the sx1 to match the sx56 ?
Any suggestions ?

Hi Abohsali
Many thanks for the data! I am assuming that Cingular are operating at 1900 in you area and not 850. Is that correct? Or are these settings allowing you to roam on another providers network, while still using the Cingular sim card. (you are using a cingular sim, correct?)
Regards
Chris
Hi Abohsali,
The WAP Settings works. Thanks, but the GPRS settings don't. I don't know why. I could connect my AOL Instan Messenger but when I try to check my email, it tried to connect to the GPRS.
Any idea? I'm getting tired calling Cingular, they have no clue. Thinking of switching to T-Mobile
Still can't get GSRP with my Simens SX56 (Cingular Network)
I have tried everything I've see here and at Cingular developer site.
I even printed out the paper forum. Cingular(http://alliance.cingularinteractive.com/dev/cda/home) and from this site.
Does anyone have a Siemens SX56 phone using GPRS??
I would love to know what the correct settings are.
When I try to connect I get the following:
The answering modem had disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if need, tap settings
Help ?? Still can't get GSRP with my Simens SX56
Is anyone ready this ?? Can I get a little help
I finally got both GPRS and WAP to work. Funny thing is that IE could open wap sites if I'm on the WAP network and AOL Instant Messenger could also be run with WAP network.
GPRS is not bad in speed, I could get it to open with IE and turned off the images so it doesn't use a lot of bandwidth and loads faster.
I use the settings from above, but it only works after I called Tech Support to have my account Provisioned. So they did, and when I browse around with IE using the WAP network, a message pop up on the browser saying that Wireless Internet Express is ready to use, click on Activate.
So I did and voila, it works like a charm. I also bought IP Dashboard to monitor how much bandwidth I'm taking whenever I use GPRS. While WAP uses my minutes.
Thanks again Abohsali.
Tips for you guys...
Here's a tip for you guys...
If you use the Pay As You Go Wireless Internet Express (WIX) then the settings above will work as long as you call Technical Support to provision your account. Then the GPRS settings above will work.
But, if you go with Media Works, the unlimited one with Unlimited Wireless Internet Express, then the settings above won't work. But interestingly, the WAP works for downloading email. Before, with Pay As You Go WIX, I have to switch to GPRS to download email. Now I just stay in WAP.
The good thing being in GPRS is that it uses your data connect only, not your minutes. While WAP uses your minutes, but not data. Someone here could correct me if I'm wrong?
Is WAP without WIX free, or is there a $ .01 /kb charge?
How much does the unlimited plan cost?
Whoops, hadn't realise you were in Indonesia

JasJar and US T-mobile GPRS settings

I just got a new unlocked T-mobile branded JasJar this morning, and when i inserted the SIM card (US t-Mobile Voice and GPRS) the GPRS settings were blank. now, i've used this SIM in a pocketpc phone edition, and a smartphone - and i never had to set trhe GPRS settings they were setup by the SIM. also i have used the smartphone as a bluetooth modem with an iPAQ and all i had to set on the iPAQ was the APN (internet2.voicestream.com). unfortunately the same doesn't seem to work with the JasJar. i configured a GPRS setting, and set rhe APN to internet2.voicestream, left the user/password blank like other instances; but it didn't work
i've searched for the info, but all i find is U.K t-mobile settings. and it seems to be a JasJar specific problem since i have't had it on other devices. the lack of posts suggest i'm doing something stupid... but i don't know what it is
Any help appreciated!
Thanks!
Sky
ok i was being a bonehead i used the WORK connection instead of the internet connection.
Thanks!

Here are the settings for MMS on the T-Mobile USA network...
First you have to be on the WAP network for T-Mobile...the settings for that are as follows:

Unlocked XDA Exec on T-mobile 3G network?

Hello people
I've just come into possession of an 02 branded HTC Universal, which has been unlocked.
Everything works fine except for 3G data/internet. The phone can find a 3G (UMTS) network, but it can't use it for any kind of data.
I have a web'n'walk (3G) tariff, and I've tested my SIM card in a T-mobile phone and 3G works fine. So tariff and SIM are fine.
The problem must be with the phone. T mobile say it's not their handset so they can't help - so I'm depending on you lot!
Are there some settings I need to change to make this work on Tmobile's network? There's GPRS settings, modem connection settings etc. Any of those could be the culprit. I've tried settnig up a modem connection with general.t-mobile.uk, without putting in any username, password or domain, and that doesn't work.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Sharif
yeah u need to input the settings
goto connections and add new modem connection and type in 'T-mobile Internet'
then click next and in the access point type in 'general.t-mobile.uk'
then the next page your on to the username password settings where use the following
username: t-mobile
password: one2one
Do you know the 3 uk settings?
I have the same problem but i'm now on the 3 network.
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/software/htcp3600.html
use the program at the bottom of the page "network settings wizard" sure its not for the universal but it works. I used it to setup my three settings.
