Is it not posible to use the AT comands with the built in
Terminalprogram. There are a solution to log in "localhost"?

No, not without some hacking. TAPI, the part of windows that manages communication with the phone, has the serial port to the phone open, and won't release it.
We have been working on this exact issue this exact weekend. No definite results yet, but we're inching closer day by day...

Rogers Canada Mobile 2003 Upgrade (not SE)

After alot of *****ing and customer service that did not have a clue that the supplied the SX56 and software. I finally found some intelligent life at Rogers and was provided this link to the Rogers Mobile 2003 upgrade for those Canadians that still need it.
Here is the required link >>>>>
http://downloads.rogers.com/wireless/products/phones/siemens/Siemens_SX56_Software_Upgrade.exe <<<<
ROM Version: 30.07 ENG
ROM Date: 05/04/04
Radio Version: A.33.03
Protocol Version: 1.3.3
Model No.: PW10B1
Additionaly , please find screen shots enclosed to assist you through the install.

Thanks... but a problem
Thanks for this link. I was successfully able to download this update from the site: however.... the software will not update my phone
I am using the phone on rogers, but this phone is one that i purchased that was originall At&T from the USA.
I downloaded a ROM from here, it is a PPC2002 version, with a whole bunch of toys, looks cooked, but not by me. I used this to unlock the radio.
I would like to upgrade to 2003. This image will not load and i dont know whether i should try cooking another one and loading it, or if there is a way to get this one on there. Having an OS endorsed by my carrier is somewhat comforting, but i dont know if this is at all legitimate.
I get the following error after clicking the first NEXT in the upgrade process:
ERROR 012 CHECK ERROR
The rom image that you are trying to upgrade is not compatible with your PPC phone. Please compare the devidce and upgrade information below
Current device info:
MODEL PW10A1
ROM 3.17
Your Upgraded Image Info:
MODEL PW10B1
Rom R.30
Please download the compatible utility and try again.
Perhaps i am out of luck?
Thanks
Ian
Trick
The trick I used to get around this, is start the installer you downloaded, it will create a directory x:\program files\SX56 upgrade utility. Copy all the files from this directory to a safe place, then cancel the installer.
In there there will be a NK.NBF file. Use the XDATool OSImage tool to make a SD card image, then on the XDA hold down the power button and soft reset to then do the install of the new ROM image. Covered elsewhere on this site many times...
After that, copy the RSU*.* and monitor*.* files from the above directory to the devices \windows directory and run RSupgrade.exe to upgrade the radio stack.
Worked for me.
Meathooks.
Questions
I apologize if this seems like stupid questions but: What is the difference, if any, between PPC 2003 and WM 2003?
I downloaded and installed (or attempted to anyway) the 2003 update from the Siemens website - the one for Rogers users. I, unknowing the problems other have had, attempted to install straight from the .exe file. The radio stack updated sucessfully but the unit hung when attempting to update the ROM. The program asked for a soft-reset and to run the installation program again. When I did this the unit would not power on and my computer didn't recognize that the SX56 was even attached... anyhow, couldn't get anything to work after numerous attempts. The people at Siemens told me to send the unit back to Rogers. I did. Rogers just forwards the unit to Siemens anyway and now I've been without it for 2 weeks. argh.... When i do get the unit back (which I'm starting to think may be never!) i will try again with the recommended use of XDAtools instead of straight from the EXE file. Even though I won't go through that again i'd like to know if anyone else has had this problem and if they have found the reason for it and a way to install straight from the EXE file without any problems.
Thanks,
Sean
Difference
No difference bwn the two, the proper term is Windows Mobile 2003.
Meathooks.

No prob for the upgrade, sorry I did not get back to you earlier (out of the loop for a while), but Meathooks is right, this is the way I had to go as well. Worked great and have not found any bugs so far.
I have another XDA as well. THis one i actually bought from Rogers (for $1000) before knowing that these can be had on ebay for $200 - so i got a second one (my ATT phone) when my cat chewed the antenna on my Rogers phone.
The rogers took the update no problem, straight from the EXE file as in the attached WORD document above.
The rom on the rogers phone was R.2???? something before the update.
Why are some of the ROM versions called R.2 or R.3 and some are just called 3.17 or whatnot?
As for my ATT (primary) phone, does anyone recommend using the rogers provided update over using the one i cooked yesterday or visa versa?
Thanks
Ian

T-Mobile Suspended Mode

Hello every one. I really would apperciate if someone can help me with my problem becuase i am new here.
I bought a used T-Mobile pocket pc 2003 from ebay.
It has the following information when it boot:
G324e4
R6.25.02
4.01.16
The problem i have that when it goes to suspend mode after 3 min. it won't get back when I press the power key or any other keys. I have to do full reset every time it does that.
It did work really good when I cancel the suspend mode with no problems but the battry won't last 4 hours.
Is it a sofware problem, or hardware problem? Please help!
Thank you,
Lisa
Just to clarify do you have a replaceable battery or is the ppc 2003 installed on the old t-mobile pc which has an inbuilt battery, non replaceable? Also when you say you have to "restart" do you mean you have to do a soft reset, or a hard reset?
What for Software have you installed on your device.
As much as i know KSE Truefax had caused such an issue.....
Stefan
Thank you for the reply.
To answer the first question It has built in battery you can't take it off and I do hard reset meaning i erease all software I installed.
For the second question: The pocket pc 2003 still have it's orginal operating system. I didn't change any thing. Here is the sys. info:
Rom Version 4.01.16 ENG

CPU ARM SA1110

Ram size 32MB
Flash size 32 MB
Flash chip type 28F128

The start up files under windows directory here is the list
aflashman 6/10/03
Battery mointer 6/10/03
cflashman 6/10/03
poutlook 6/10/03
PLEASE HELP !
Thank you in advance
I have the exact problem. but now i cant get my phone to work at all really. i upgraded my radio stack, but i think i went too far now it says no service. and i am stuck. what now? actually if someone could tell me how to get back to 2002 and start all over it would be most appreciated.
edit: flashed radio back, now i can dial out. but after the 2 minutes it won't let me suspend anymore. are the cooked roms part of the issue? i dunno i am thinking of a downgrade to 2002 then try again. i wish i still had my old rom backed up (didn't have a spare sd card). now i am stuck still needs a soft reset to come back up.
radio 6.24.00.
ROM 1.16
protocol G324e4
fixed it!
downgrade to 2002, left the radio stack alone. now it works. going to keep trying to see if i can bump it back up. just received a tmo edition from atrick-pay that has 2003. I think maybe a downgrade to 2002 then unlock will help. I am going to study it a bit more.

Problems deploying apps in MS Studio 2005

I have QTek 9100, running CE OS 5.2.1413 (Build 17913.0.3.0) NBD v7.4.
I have problems when I build an application under my MS Studio 2005 SP1, I try to deploy the image to my device and I get an error saying that my device's security configuration prevents MS Studio from connecting to it and deploy fails.
I turned my device's security off with the tool provided by MS, still nothing could be deployed. Also, I've uploaded the developers certificates provided by MS, still no sucess.
I bought the device originally with Windows Mobile 5, then deployment and everything else was OK. But now I don't want to revert back to 5 version because I like this build I have so much.
Pls, help how to get around this error.
Thanks

Android OpenVPN

Since I bought my HTC Hero two weeks ago I can't stop enjoing the device.
Except one thing: Currently no OpenVPN client exists yet for the Android platform.
While searching Google I could find people referring to successfull ports of openvpn, but all discussions were vague and all links were dead.
This resulted in the motivation to work on making openvpn available on Android.
For the last weeks I have been reading documentation and already started coding a very basic GUI. (listing and editing configuration files)
Being fairly novice to Android, and expecting I'm not the only one envying such functionality I am starting a Call for Participation trying to reach other developers interested to work on the project.
As structure of this application I see the following parts:
1) GUI stuff to manage configurations (view, create, edit and delete). Tunnel management (connect, disconnect, view log, view ip) would also be done here. (language: java)
2) background daemon sending notifications about the tunnel state (don't know if that's necessary) (language: java)
3) ported openvpn client that parses the config and does the real work. (language: c)
It looks like other projects already provide the necessary tun kernel drivers. Rooting your device will be necessary to be able to load the driver.
Being supportive to open source software I'd like to keep the code open.
Discussions about selling the (compiled) GUI on the Market are possible.
Interested developers can reply here or contact me at [email protected].

Please post if you find a openvpn GUI for the HTC Magic / Hero
Best regards
I saw one being developed in Singapore.
I think its featured by the codeandroid.org community.
Its in the Marketplace now, I guess?

Searched for it in the SG App directory and couldn't find it there.
It doesn't show up either in the US Market. Could you please attach an apk for it?

Can you go to codeandroid.org forums and open a thread to ask about it?
OpenVPN 2.1 available
You'll find the port here:
http://github.com/fries
A port of liblzo, patches to openssl to support blowfish and openvpn 2.1 it self.
Precompiled binaries are available here:
http://github.com/fries/android-external-openvpn/downloads
There is currently no installer but you can copy the file to your device with the adb command.
I'm also working on an app to monitor and configure vpns.
Best Regards
Now there is also an android app to monitor the openvpn state.

Hi.
I've installed both openvpn and Openvpn-Monitor.apk.
Monitor opens, but there is no way to configure vpn. I've tried to import a valid config file from my linux box but monitor says it's not a valid config file.
Any advices or docs?
Thanks in advance.

Been there. The Monitor doesn't even allow me to import a valid config. Save button is never enabled, but I've got the vpn up and running well from the command line.

I haven't gotten it to work yet, still just a black screen for me also but I found out it connects to 127.0.0.1 7890 which I assume is supposed to be the management interface of openvpn.
I added "management 127.0.0.1 7890" to my openvpn config and can se the monitor app talking to it but still the black screen.
Just thought I should share it, perhaps someone else will figure out the next step in getting this working.
Force closes on hero when hitting find to import config file
title says it all ...have installed the libs/bin in /system/lib and /system/bin (actually I already had libssl and libcrypto)
installed the monitor apk and everytime I got to settings import file -> Find the app force closes.. :-(
Can anyone help ?

OpenVPN GUI
the VPNMonitor even not works for me, it crashed if i'm trying to import a config file.
I wrote my own OpenVPN GUI and for about 4 hours it's on the android market.
More informations about it can be found on my page at http://www.blank-online.eu/android/openvpn_gui/
unfortunately my page only is in german so I'll give a short summary:
it asks you to download openvpn binary file incl. tun.ko module if needed.
then it may does a wget and chmod and ln -s (because of ifconfig and route)
You can edit the path to your openvpn file
yout can set the path where your configfiles are
and easily start/stop openvpn connections via checkboxes...
i think it became a very nice app
i love it
i'm looking forward to your feedback!!
Another discussion about this is going-on on MoDaCo.
http://android.modaco.com/content/software/291919/openvpn-on-android/
I also have released an OpenVPN GUI for Android.
The the code is completely opensource, so you can check that I added no backdoors, or you could help fixing bugs by sending patches ;-)
The application can currently:
- Create and edit configurations
- Connect / Disconnect
- View log and share it ( send by email or other means )
- tunnel notification/status in system tray
I am currently working on the implementation of a password prompt for certificate authentication and user/password authentication.
My goal is to release this feature in a week or so.
You can find a README and the openvpn binaries here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/tunneldroid/files/
(these binaries don't require the ugly 'bb' symlinks that the others published on Git do need (http://github.com/fries/android-external-openvpn)
TunnelDroid is published on the Android Market.
So just do a simple search for it. This will help you to follow the updates.
Please give feedback if it works/doesn't work on your phone.
If I start an openvpn connection via shell (using my config file) it works, however with your tool it starts to connect and it even establishes a connection, but only a few seconds later it disconnects with the following error:
event_wait_interrupted system call (code=4)
TCP/UDP: Closing socket
SIGTERM[hard] received, process exiting

To prevent freezing your phone when openvpn fails to connect I implemented a 30 seconds connection timeout. (line 97 from the source )
TunnelDroid detects you are connected once the tun0 interface came up.
This will probably be where it has issues on your device.
Could you give me a directory listing of your /sys/class/net/ directory once the tunnel came up?
Once I get the info I'll upload a fixed version.
The good news is that I'm currently implementing openvpn-manager support. This means TunnelDroid will be able to interact with openvpn while it runs in the background and will be able to ask openvpn if he's connected.
The technical stuff on the side this means the following new features:
- prompt for certificate credentials
- prompt for auth credentials
- displaying the status of the connection (CONNECTING,WAIT,AUTH, GET_CONFIG, ASSIGN_IP, ADD_ROUTES, CONNECTED, RECONNECTING, EXITING)
- and probably other things ...
