Altered S8 and google pay - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I recently flashed the twrp and stock rom to my samsung galaxy s8 but when i start google pay and try to add a card it tells me that the device may be rooted or altered. Online I discovered that the cause could be the fact that in the playstore it reports that the play protect certificate is not present. So I tried to register my ID on the google registration page but with no results. If anyone has a solution I would be grateful.

Damn... Issue... Smarthswitch does sometimes have bugs. Try creating a new google account to log in. Logging to your samsung account then might let you restore your data. Btw google how to bypass google login. There are many guides but I don't remember one right now.

If you've never used a Google account and your phone is new, you should not be asked for an account. When you turn on the phone for the first time a configuration setup appears which in one of its steps asks you to enter a Google account, if you have done and you have put a pin code the phone will be blocked when you try to alter the system. FRP is activated when you put a security pattern, pin code, or add a Google account. Before installing the twrp you should activate the oem unlock. In any case the phone is stolen, we can not help you with that. Xda has her rules. You can try using a box z3x, medusa, octopus etc etc.
I never use google accounts, why should i ? and the phone was bought through amazon. If you start the first time without any sim card, bypass the google account login and then put twrp on it. You get the same problem as i. You'll see. I don't steal Handys or buy things like that !

If you don't use Google accounts then it must be a very limited experience. Because most of what the device can do is based around Google.
How do you update apps? Backup contacts? Use YouTube etc?
Also it seems you missed out a bit of information above. It doesn't say you've factory reset your device which you must have done to get you in that predicament.
All you needed to do was reinstall the stock firmware to bypass FRP Lock. Wiping the device had compounded the issue.
Its great that you've fixed it, but at least you may realise the value of ensuring you have a working Google account.

FRP lock shouldn't prevent you from flashing a stock ROM. It should flash but upon first boot, ask for your Google login and password. If you don't remember the Google login and password, then there is a long and involved process to get around the lock. If you can't flash a stock ROM with Odin, you must not be using the latest Odin and selecting the individual AP and BP modules, not the entire tar, to flash.
I have used the latest version of odin i could find and both of and those files but i still get an SECURE CHECK FAIL (BOOTLOADER)

That doesn't appear to be an FRP lock but rather a problem using the wrong ROM for your tablet. Google "SECURE CHECK FAIL". What is the full model number of your tablet, from what region and exactly what ROM are you flashing?
as soon as i got to work i realized that the tablet i have is p580 not t580. everything is working now
Hello,
I have the problem that I have forgotten my Google Account and after resetting the tablet it hangs now in the FRP.
I tried this on my S8, because there I know my google account and have successfully unlocked it with the file "combination....". Unfortunately, I coudn't find a current "Combination..." file for the Tablet Tab A SM-T580.
With this video I have unlocked my S8: "BYPASS GOOGLE Account (FRP) on Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ | TESTED & 100% WORKING" on YouTube
Can anybody help me further?

Surely it makes sense to use the same Google account on both devices in future? :silly:

This will happen every time if don't enable developer option and OEM Enable. But search the thread for FRP lock and you'll find instructions that show that, while difficult, you can get around the lock.

Help! Stuck in google verify!

I have been trying to reboot a used phone I have bought. The Samsung Galaxy J3 (6). Yes, there is a 6 after the J3 inside of a little circle. Apparently this is the closest thing that xda has to it on the forums. I have tried everything I could find on the internet to get around this google verify problem from the previous user. I have used the emergency caller to basically access everything on the phone. I have attempted to change the google account through settings, I have installed new apps to access other areas, I have have tried to downgrade Google Account Manager to disable the "error" problem in the quick shortcut app. This last method didn't work due to the phone not letting me be able to downgrade. I have installed the rootjunkie's samsung unlocker apk and got to settings. I have factory reset from here twice, with and without a password. Both did not do a thing for me. I am out of ideas. can anybody help me out here?

The issue is FRP. Someone has factory reset from recovery instead of settings.
If you can get into settings as you say then set up another Google account then switch to that account.
Restart and log into that account.
Which firmware build is the device running?

I have tried to add a Google account through several methods as well. Through settings, through Gmail app, through play store. All of which keep taking me to the same verification check screen, but it allows me to back out to the settings again.

My version is 6.01 I believe. But I cannot downgrade to the 6.01 Google account manager with new security stuff.
Your device is nearly identical to J320A & J320AZ.
I am unsure if you need to enable "oem unlock" from Dev options to flash the kernel.
But if Odin let's you this method should get you going.

Google Pay no longer allowed

Hi,
I have the Z17 Lite (NX591J) and 1 week ago, Google Pay now gives me this message: "Google pay can't be used on this device. This may be because your device is rooted, has an unlocked bootloader or is running a custom ROM. As a result, Google can't confirm that your device meets Google Pay's security standards."
Before this, NFC and Google Pay had been working perfectly. I have not done anything to cause this and did not have any OTA update or anything from Nubia. It may have started from Google Pay version 1.55.190269934, but may have been the previous version.
I have installed "Root Checker Pro" just to check. It says "Not Rooted" and on Safety Net check, the only thing that fails is CTS profile match.
Everything was working well and I updated it to the 20180223 update from geekbuying still everything working well including NFC and Google Pay.
Yesterday, I updated to the 20180316 from geekbuying (which I think is exactly the same as 20180223) but it has not changed anything. I still get that error message from Google Pay.
What can I do?
Is anyone able to help me regarding CTS Profile match = false (mismatch)?
Geekbuying released an updated firmware v1.05. CTS profile is fixed and therefore Google Pay works again.

Google Pay/Wallet

I'm a user who really loves these apps - however they are not available in my region and when I download download them I am told "Google Pay is updating at the moment, so you won't be able to access the app." Is there any way at all to fix this? I can install any apps needed, as long as they don't need root.
You can use a foreign VPN or change the CSC on your phone to launch the app without this message, but the payment itself will still remain an issue.
Sorry I'm new to this. What would changing my CSC do? I have the UK BTU one. And how would I do it?
Also which apps are the one which the VPN needs to change? I'm using Orbot.
Note that if you're rooted Google Wallet may detect it and stop you from using it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/discussion-google-pay-magisk-discussion-thread.3906703

Not rooted, it used to work until I updated it.
I have a non-rooted Galaxy S20+, Germany (DBT) CSC and it's stuck in Google Pay is updating.
Tried clearing data/cache and uninstalling/reinstalling Google Play Services and Google Pay.
Have had this issue for months and I ignored it, but now that Google Wallet is a thing I wanted to try it but no luck.
Any ideas?
try this:
1) unlock bootloader
2) fastboot erase cust
3) relock bootloader
see if it works that way after setup.
P.S.
You must enter a pin code during setup for google pay to show up.
Hi guys,
I am posting here in hopes that my solution will help you also!
I have a stock Mate 20 Pro and a few days ago after a factory reset I,ve encountered the "Google Pay is updating at the moment, so you won't be able to access the app." error.
I am from Romania and here GPay transformed onto GWallet. But never the less the error is the same. I've tried all solutions found on the Internet but none worked( clear cache for G play services and G play store, uninstal and reinstall GWallet app, install older versions of GPay and GWallet, even formatted the phone once more). Nothing worked.
The solution that worked for me and there is no reference of it over the net:
1. Find/install on the phone the proprrietary wallet app. Eg: For Huawei - Huawei Wallet, for Samsung - Samsung wallet/Samsung Pay.
2. Open it and give permissions to everything that is asking for. Go until adding a card if it lets you but do not add it.
3. Close the app.
4. Open Google Wallet / Google Pay depending on the country you're in.
5. Enjoy once again GPay!
Hope this will help!
