WANT TO UPDATE Head Unit Running ANDROID 4.0.3 - Android Head-Units

Hi all,
I have a an android head unit installed in my car, this goes way back to 2013-2015. I know it's been awhile and ive been using it ever since. Upon going into settings to get some other info. This is what ive found/share with you guys so you'd understand what im dealing with better.
Android Version - 4.0.3
Baseband Version - Unknown
Kernel Version - 2.6.35.7 -gd7614e0 [email protected] #63
Build Number - CarDVD 4.0.3 IML74K [email protected]
I know this is a pretty old headunit with low specs but is there a way i could update it to a more later version? I understand if they have discontinued updates , but is there any custom firmware or some kind of latest firmware that is compatible to run it? Or am i stuck with this forever?
Some of the details of the hardware
-Samsung Arm CortexTM-A 8 processor 1.2 Ghz CPU
-Memory: 512MB DDR2 SDRAM and 1.2G Mb for Android 4
-Internal Storage 4G Byte land SLC Flash.
THANK YOU!!

Welcome new member.
From searching xda.....
[is there a way i could update it to a more later version?]
- No apparent method, no.
[understand if they have discontinued updates , but is there any custom firmware or some kind of latest firmware that is compatible to run it?]
- No apparent firmware or options, so no.
[Or am i stuck with this forever?]
-Yes unless replacing it with one that has firmware that meets your needs.

No worries, you're welcome, anytime - bub-bye

Is this the Galaxy 3?

Good Afternoon Folks.
I am a bit lost at the moment don't really venture over to the Samsung phones as I don't have one myself.
However my wife does and its running a very old version of Android and I think its quite rubbish to be honest. I would like to root it and upgrade the rom to the latest that is possible. (I have done this with with my HTC Desire and many times in the past with WinMo phones)
Now I am not 100% sure if it is a Galaxy 3 or not and I was wondering if anyone can clairfy that for me. All the pictures of the G3 on the web are almost identical to her phone but they seem shorter and fatter
Her's was called a Samsung Galaxy Apollo I believe when she got it. I have also seen it being reffered to a I5800.
I have gone onto the About screen on her phone and listed some information here if that helps:
Model Number: GT-I5800
Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: I5800XXJG3
Kernel Version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build Number: ECLAIR.B0JH1
Could someone please clarify to me if this is the G3 and if so the latest rom available or may even a link to a rom dev that is fairly stable and fast?
I am hoping for 2.3 but don't think that is about for this phone so I am guessing it will be 2.2?
Thanks, your help is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Max

yes! whatever info you have given indicates that the phone is a galaxy 3(and gt-i5801(Apollo)=gt-i5800) it means you can flash any firmware of gt-i5800 to gt-i5801 & vice-versa.
So, go ahead and flash any ROM like Indroid, Kyrillos, Destiny ROM or G3 mod etc using Odin multi-downloader(above listed are Froyo based custom roms) & almost all of them are good.
There is also a gingerbread based CM7 but it is in alpha stage, see if you like it. All these and more roms can be found in the Development sub-forum of galaxy 3. And yeah your phone IS galaxy3. Best of luck.
Hit thanks button if I've helped you.

Thanks for your reply that is very helpful.
One last question would you know the best rom for speed and power. I am looking for something fairly light as one of the reasons we are upgrading because she wants to play a game but with the standard rom half of the buttons appear white and very slow I am guessing this is because theres not enough power for the game to display properly.

Galaxy 3 has a crap GPU with screwed up drivers, so it faces problems rendering some of the imersive graphics of the games.
You should first flash any good ROM as Kyrillos 8.0 or Indroid 6 and flash any OC kernel like G3Mod or fugumod and overclock your CPU using setCPU and also use Chainfire3d. But, first learn about the advantages and disadvantages of overclocking

Alternative ROM for Bosion?

Hi everyone, sorry for my very poor English.
I have a friend who has a bosion with Android 7.0.
But he really has strange latency times by changing music for example.
The touch screen does not always respond.
And a sudden restart happens from time to time.
I think the concern comes from the ROM.
It does it morning as well as afternoon.
So no heat stress in the morning but the "Android Hardware Info" software tells me 86 ° about the CPU.
would not it be a bit too high?
Material information
Model: Quad-core T3_p3 Allwinner
Build: t3_p3-eng 7.1.1 NMF27D 20180411 test-keys
Bootloader: Unknown
Java VM: ART 2.1.0
Version OS: N MR1 (7.1.1)
SDK: 25
Chipset: sun8iw11p1
CPU: ARMv7-A
Can we downgrade it and how?
Or an alternative ROM?
Thank you very much in advance.
Best regards.
Up & further information
We think we have found where the worry comes from.
This must be the indexing of music files on external media (usb key or µSD).
In the internal memory, this lag is very short, 5s to 15s.
This is not normal, however.
On my Pumpkin PX5 4g 32g, no worries lag.
I think it comes from the ROM this worry.
Would you know or can I find another ROM for this model?
Thanks in advance
Regards.

Glady benekdp, but we can hope to have an answer here,

Help me find a ROM?

Yo XDA
I have an older android head unit with a Mediatek MT8127A CPU
It's a 1.3Ghz quad-core with 16GB space and 1GB ram. I am hoping someone can point me in the direction of some ROMs to try and install on it.
I do realise the ROMs probably won't work and I might brick it - I'm fine with that - the ROM on this is so poor it's unusable as-is so I've got nothing to lose. It's unfortunate as the hardware is quite nice and it's a very responsive little unit.

Update firmware

hi there..I have an unbranded android head unit...im looking to update the firmware...can some body please point me in the right direction for the files please an thanks...
More info
I have the same question. I have what appears to be a bremmen. with arm cortex A9 @1.6 ghz (4x). 2 gigs of ram.. it is running px3 (1024x600 s). I bought this car cheap from a 65 year old man who had this radio installed back in 17. he had no idea how to operate it. it appears to me that one of the sd card went bad. so I am trying to fix it and see if this android unit is even worth the updates.... considering who ever installed did the install did not install the USB Cable to hook the phone up to... I am really mad. I appreciate all the help. pointing me in the right direction. I really like this head unit cause it makes my Eos almost look stock.

Custom ROM for MStar MSD6A628-T8E3 Boards.

Hello,
I have a generic smart tv which I would love to have a custom ROM for. Unfortunately, I don’t have the appropriate resources to make it happen. So I would like to ask the XDA community to help me out. It’s currently running Android 4.4.4, and I would love to have it upgraded to Android 5.1.1
Specs:
Board: MStar MSD6A628-T8E3
RAM: 512MB
ROM: 4G (Although 2GB usable)
CPU: MStar MSD6A628 With MALI-450
I have the original firmware file if that helps
