Is there a hardware reason for some phones being incompatible or is it a software lock that can be circumvented somehow?
I've got a Samsung Xcover4, and want to use some VR apps, that are dependent on cardboard, but I cant install it.
Anyone knows if there is rom somewhere that can fix this?

desperate for it. makes me want android just for this app. is there one for WinMo? or anyone trying to port it?
and is this app dependent on Andoird hardware, like specific hardware to function?
Could not find sofar Google sky maps for windows. For sure is not a hardware thing.........
Think that google wants to keep some apps exclusive for Android to make this OS more attractive vs windows......
It's a matter of time till it is available to us guys.
You could try this application.

Nice catch..... Looks like google sky......
When will kies support my phone. It is shameful that everytime you click on application in kies it keep poping up that this phone is not supported.
It had been months since launch.when will they fix this? Also it would be really nice if kies would allow you to organise your app in the application screen as well as implement some sort of folder system. Over 11 pages of apps. It is starting to look like yellow pages.
Sent from galaxy s. JG4 + oneclick lag fix version 2.3
to ask the stupid question that I think you're smart enough to have already done since you have lag fix and other fixes...
you have the drivers installed, right? I know it's automatic, but some people didn't have success with the auto-install and had to go a manual route.

Well this isn´t such a stupid question since he asked when the Galaxy S will appear in Kies for the Samsung Apps and it will be possible to download apps directly in Kies and not only with the Samsung App Store on the phone.
But unfortunetely i can´t respond when Samsung will implement Android Apps in Kies. Maybe there are to less Android Apps for now, so there is no need right now for this.
Upon re-reading, I think I misunderstood the question almost entirely. So, there are two issues, on is the platform. Samsung apps are largely meant for Bada. However, there are some Android apps as well. But there, I think Samsung's apps are mostly regional dependent, and it depends on carrier stores prevalence in the area.
They probably reached agreements to not offer Samsung apps in areas where carriers have launched, or will launch an app store of their own, and Samsung will integrate into that. There are at least 3 countries I've heard of this being the case in. I wouldn't expect the fix you are hoping for anytime soon, but you can look to see if your carrier has a store that contains the Asphalt 5 and other apps that Samsung has available for distribution.
I know this is a common issue on my devices, I was wondering if anyone can give me a tip on the easiest way to fix it with the Tab?
I've tried one of the Market Enablers (the one that fakes a different provider) but not the one that enables paid apps (I think the one I need) as it wouldn't seem to install...
Any tips?
I rooted my device and can use these enablers and see paid and free apps.... after faking TM USA
Hallo!
I've recently heard about ROMS,degoogling your Phone etc. and I bought this S10+ Phone. Is there a safe was to delete all bloatware, google Software and so on?
I've heard about GrapheneOS but unfortunately it's only for google devices so I was wondering what kind of solutions exist for this case. There are also phones with hardware kill switches but I'm a little bit skeptical about them.
Please tell me everything you know about this or the best pages to get an idea how to do so. I will be forever grateful

I feel you. The only google crap I (want to) use is Gmail and occasionally gmaps.
Unfortunately all of Android is created to serve its master... how can you separate the two?
Lol, Apple?
Proof that unlimited power corrupts ultimately.
Thanks for your replys. I will try it out
I've been using this for 3 years.

If your s10+ is using an exynos cpu you can install lineage os. Lineage won't work on the snapdragon variants

Hi there sciencebitches,
I realize your original post was from 2020 and its now March 2023 so maybe this is not something your interested in anymore... maybe you have a new phone, etc. But....
The Samsung phones that are sold in North America (either Canada or US) have locked bootloaders that cannot be unlocked. So you are stuck flashing Samsung firmware that is digitaly signed by Samsung.
However, if you get an international model then you can unlock the bootloader and load custom firmware. You have a couple of choices.
LineageOSWhen loading LineageOS, you can choose to load it with or without GApps. Loading it with GApps gives you all the same Google stuff, a library known as Google Play Services, as on normal Android. Loading LineageOS without GApps gives you no Google stuff whatsoever. This is what I am running on my SM-G975F – LineageOS without GApps.
LineageOS for microGThis gives you LineageOS with a substitute library called MicroG. The MicroG library is a reimplementation of the Google Play Services that some (a lot?) of Android apps require. So, if you need to use some apps that require Google Play Services but don’t want to be overrun with Google again, then MicroG is recommended. With “pure LineageOS” (sans GApps) you get no Google Play Services whatsoever.
/e/OSThis is another implementation of LineageOS with MicroG. It is fairly polished but tries to look like iOS and so feels somewhat un-Android like. I have no first-hand experience with /e/OS.
GrapheneOS and Calyx OSThere is also GrapheneOS and Calyx OS but I have no experience with those either. My understanding is they are along the same lines. I think that GrapheneOS comes with no Google Play Services and no MicroG (i.e. like “pure” LineageOS) but gives you the option of installing real Google Play Services (not MicroG) as a normal app as opposed to as a system app.
If you live in Canada I can help you get an international phone that you can install LineageOS or one of the others listed here.
Best regards,
The Fish
Want to start some research about this board. I know that JTC uses it in its TV sets, but its probably widely spread among OEM TVs.
To discover firmware I unpacked a update and found a file: CtvUpgrade.bin that starts with a list of partitions that are in its ROM.
Anyone knows more about the format or want to join me here?
Hi.
The board is a cultraview they like to have a custom OS from Zeasn on it.
To be recognized by the launcher cultraview_open_launcher.
This is built into cheap models.
You get to the hidden tv menu through input / source and then 2580.
I myself have a device from kb-elements with cultraview board and custom OS.
Oh, well - good to have a bro here
I could figure our already some thing in the Service Menu (Overscan, Reduce backlight further more).
But sill I just have quite a few questions:
Does your board allow record broadcast?
Could you get rid of the annoying "Energy waste" pop-ups if you increase volume?
Did you get root access to it?
A german bro.
No root is only possible with a root OS version which then has to be flashed Via USB.
This will void the guarantee.
Especially since at least for me it is an OS adapted by Zeasn.
I suspect that JTC is similar to kb-elements.
The file ctvupdate is only firmware for the board.
I would avoid the ctv mode at least when the backlight is deactivated.
Yeah, where are you from? I am not so afraid of guarantie. But I need to know more about. It would be cool to have a real Android, so where all apps will work. Widevine would be cool.
I've seen different update files for same TV with different serial numbers. Guess it is just the different panel. Would be great to separate android from the HW-specific stuff.
Does your TV allows recording?
Lower Saxony.
The cultraview board is often built into cheap devices.
Jtc / Jay tech, TCL, Hisens, KB elements.
Unfortunately, widevine is not on it and the Android is also an adapted "not Google" version.
Playstore ect are installed, if at all, which sometimes leads to problems.
Root access is also not possible. Unless you have an update for the USB stick and modefiert it for root access.
But that is beyond my knowledge.
Yes PVR works, even on a USB stick which sometimes does not work.
If necessary, it could also be activated in the service menu.
For me Playstore isn't working anymore. Although all other apps does have network it complains not to have it.
I manually updated to latest gsf and gms (Service Framework and Playservices for Android 9+) and also to the latest Playstore. I found that I have to install the Playstore for Android TV [8]. Installing the normal one [0] works, but after starting it complains with: This version is not compatible to device.
Nevertheless it keeps non operational with "no network". Help!
I am wondering what can prevent Playstore from working? Is it because of Android TV?
I am pretty sure the Android on this TV is far from perfect, but hey - why no PlayStore. I think once it worked.
