Hi everybody.
I just broke my phone yesterday and I am looking for some nice quality brand new LCD Display for Essential.
Is anyone here with a screen that has already been changed? I want to know does the new screen provide the same resolution size like is normal for our Display ( I mean 1312x2560ppi) or it is less?
CPU-Z is a good program to see that.
Thanks.

Take a look here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79282498&postcount=18
Based on my experience. The post has a link to my review of the display I bought on Amazon. Yes, it has the proper resolution, and works just as well as the original.
As always, YMMV...
i got this one and it works well:

Ph-1 = the easiest way to change the display

Frankly, no idea, but I think yes... I don't see a lot of prints/smudges on the screen, it stays very clean. Feels very smooth to the touch - better feeling than the screen on my SGS7.
Also don't know if it's real Gorilla Glass (ppl on Amazon were asking). So far, not a single scratch.

Check, please. put a drop of water on the screen and look
I replaced screen on wife's phone with this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07CLNDBZS?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_pd_title it appears to work and look the same when comparing it side by side with my phone with original screen

Looks like it is oleophobic... The water drop doesn't spread on the glass, and when I tilt the phone and shake it a bit, the drop rolls on the screen intact, without leaving a trail.

After hearing this news about the new screens coming to the nexus one it got me thinking. Will i be able to purchase an after market nexus one SLCD and install it on my "OLD" Nexus one, if not why?
We probably won't know until someone actually gets their hands on a Nexus with the SLCD and decides to disassemble it to make sure everything is the same to know if it's possible. But screen replacement is always pretty risky so unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't try it anyways.
To me the question is why would you even want LCD over amoled. Amoled is better. They are only using LCD for lack of supply.
yeah i would never try doing that. i will get someone to do it for me and have them be responsible for any mistakes they make!
yeah i doubt anyone will tare down their N1 unless they break it...

well my reason is i like being able to see my screen in the morning while on the bus. Its really about give or take in this situation. Its nice having a really nice screen with the deep blacks at night but at the end of the day i want my screen to be visible with out seeing my reflection while I'm out side..

exactly this guys knows what im talking about!
but if there was a way to kinda provide a type filter on the screen that would help reduce the reflectiveness of the screen and not by Anti Glare, glare is not the problem its mainly reflections
Super-AMOLED displays are AMOLED displays with an integrated touch function..

Ah, ok, that makes more sense. I don't know if it would help at all as I haven't tried miself, but reflected light is mostly polarized, maybe getting light sunglasses with polarized lenses would improve readability?
I just tried that, it doesn't seem to work, what almost sort of worked was putting my sun glasses on the screen and that improved the visibility very considerably. I dont know the UV rating for my glasses but only down side is that my screen a tone darker with the phone set on "auto".

Well, at the end of the day the night starts, so the AMOLED screen in your N1 will do it just fine!

Hello, I recently bought a nexus 7 and in general I'm pretty pleased with it. However, just today which is about 4days after purchase I realized that my screen has little diamonds that were visible at a certain angle and most obvious when the screen is off. My question is whether this behavior is normal and whether I should take it for repair since it's still under warranty. It's not rooted and there isn't a screen protector for more information. Thanks.
Edit : diamonds are 5mm each

Under certain light conditions there appears to be marks in the glass and it's all diamonds tesselated together. A photo doesn't show anything but ill be uploading one in a while
I've never noticed anything like that.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Doesn't show any of the diamond-ing I saw but here it is. I could only see it when there were many lights around and only when viewing at an certain angle.
Edit : Forgot attachment
i dont think images will allow us to see the problem, maybe even point them out with a stylus ,you could use a phone to make a video panning around views, to clearly display the problem and youtube it here :good:
yes this is normal..... no worries.. new screens usually have this
you only get to see them under certain life conditions and I'm pretty sure these will fade away with wear & tear.. I used to see them when I bought my N7.... not anymore today... enjoy them

Alright. Thanks for the info.
I think you're just seeing the digitizer.. Pretty normal to see it under certain conditions. Mainly with the screen off though. You shouldnt really see anything with the screen on.
Since the Groupon deal tablet is beginning to ship, I am wondering how the tablet is going for everyone.
I bought one, but it hasn't shipped yet.
Also, does anyone know if we are able to get warranty from Squaretrade?

Mine is in great shape, physically. Looks brand new.
I do have some issues/questions about screen quality, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it being a refurb. There's a very noticeable dot effect with text and at the edges of images. Like you can see the pixels or something. Almost as though I'm looking at the tablet through a screen door. I don't know if this is expected and people just don't notice or don't care, or if this is a defect.
I just received one in the mail. Looks brand new only thing I know is that it had been on for 32 days
Just got mine a couple of hours ago. Looks brand new. I was nervous because it was the first thing I have ever purchased from Groupon. So far it is great. Came in a sealed Samsung Galaxy box. As far my screen goes I think it looks great and I went to best buy to compare and they look exactly the same and run the same. Make sure you register it you get all kinds of stuff free like 50 bucks to the Samsung hub store ands 25 bucks for Google plays store among other things.

The tablet so far has been great. No issues or defects that I've been able to detect. I was also able to get all of the Samsung Promo Freebies. I haven't really looked into a Squaretrade warranty. Odds are that its going to fail in the first 3 months if its going to fail.
One of you will probably receive one of my 4 tablets I had to return to amazon! Going on topic though, I don't think you should be seeing any pixels at the edges of letters.

That looks like a dead pixel and you should not have that. I would return it and ask for replacement if I were you.
You can download some screen test apps from market to test different colors to see if your screen got some problems.

To Do a Full test on your Note whether Refurbished or new you can do the following simple test to check all aspects of your device
Just DIAL on your dial pad *#0*# , and do all required tests.

No, they're not dead pixels. It's the entire screen. Just something weird with the pixel arrangement. I checked out a Best Buy display model and it had the same thing.
It's most noticeable around text and edges of images, but even on plain white screen (like a white background in the browser or an app), you can kind of see it.

That`s not a joke , 2 of the 3 Note 2014 variants have dial pads, the P605 & P601, which is the one i own.
Only the P600 being the wifi version which seems to be yours doesn`t have.

Is it going to be visible when you capture screen and zoom? I didnt notice anything on my P605. I tested it with this:

And didn't see any discoloration, washouts, light bleeds and weird pixel arrangements on every test.

I have the same issue and have captured it in this picture:
(Ensure you are zoomed to 100%.)
You can see that the aliasing around the black text looks great, but the green install button just looks weird and pixellated. It's not terrible, and it only happens for certain graphics/text, but it's still kind of annoying. The RGBW stripe may be the culprit here; despite having a lower pixel density the true RGB stripe of my girlfriend's iPad Air really does look superior.
To answer OP, my tablet is physically like new. I had pretty bad lag even after installing the software update and restoring to factory settings, mostly evident in pulling down the notification shade and scrolling in apps. I rooted and put CleanRom 2.0 R2 on and it's seriously night and day. So freaking fast now. Overall I'm extremely happy for the price I paid.
Edit: XDA murdered the resolution and won't let me post a link. Take the spaces out of the below:

Mine looks like new and performs great. Took forever though my shipment was delayed 3 days by a 3" snow. I watched the tracking say out for delivery 3 days in a row, only to see a weather exception later in the afternoon. Finally on the fourth day they delivered it. Great deal but I'm shocked at the price of movies at the Hub store that $50 is gonna go quick. Sent using my new Note.

What have you captured? Looked at in person mine's fine and no different than my N3 (second pic). The moiré created by the camera and light reflecting off the N10.1-14's active digitizer's matrix makes the pic look like crap but I see nothing funky at all on the display directly.

That green box is an excellent representation of the issue. It's almost like it's got a dotted border all the way around it.
But honestly, I think on that whole screen, the pixels (if that's what the issue is... I get the whole ppi, not being able to see individual pixels at a certain distance bit) kind of pop out at you. Not sure if it's because it's a still image and is relatively close to the screen or what. But definitely mostly noticeable around that button and the line green line below it.
I've had quite a good few Android phones so far. I was somehow skeptical about 1+ 3T but, nonetheless, I decided to get one (guess was one of last lucky ones able to get the 128GB variant before going out of stock! ).
After having spent 2 days with it I'm absolutely amazed by this beauty! So, I want to share my thoughts.
First time ever I don't feel the compelling need to root it as soon as I get a device (thanks also to Nougat improvements).
With a normal use (mail, twitter, wifi on, some calls) I can easily get a 3% per hour battery consumption. Got around 8%/h while using it as hotspot.
Design is just great, can't really find anything wrong with that, and I love the choice to have the back/recents buttons.
Also fingerprint reader works just fine.
Love the very small bezel around the screen.
Display is perfect, not too much to be said here. I had a Samsung Note 4 until now, with bigger screen and higher resolution so, was a little concerned going backward.
I was wrong. Screen readability is perfect, clear and sharp.
Dual SIM: I only need to use a different SIM very rarely, couple times a year while on holiday, so having to swap my SIM ain't a big issue in the end. I would've preferred to get the chance to add extra memory instead (and that's the reason I went for the 128GB model) or one of those fancy readers where you can use MicroSD OR a 2nd SIM. But, still, that's fine.
Very disappointed with the original curved glass screen protector: waste of money. Ordered the Orzly (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01LWOYYYZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) off Amazon, I'll update the post once I receive it.
I agree with with the "complaints" about camera quality. That's okish for a phone, but that's actually the only thing I'm missing from the G4.
Not a big deal, for me, anyway. I can still take decent enough pics while on the move!
In short: I'd be more than happy to suggest this device instead of any of the more well-know-brands!
EDIT: WiFi seems to just a wee bit less powerful compared to Note 4. Noting major. Difference is minimal, nothing that would make me change mi overall very positive rating for this device.
Completely agree with everything you said. I'm also very satisfied with it, and I came from a Nexus 5.
There are a couple of things here and there in the software that annoy me, like once the aggressive doze feature is enabled it optimizes every app, instead of letting me select wich apps I want to optimize, but that's just me being picky.
I bought the original curved glass screen protector too, and only after saw that it covered the screen. Even if it's just 0.9mm I won't take it, I gotta see every inch of this beautiful screen. Let us know how the Orzly one works for you.
Also, the sandstone case is awesome. For look and feel, not for protection xD
Agreed. I'm a Samsung guy and skipped the S7 for the 3T and never looked back. That screen protector is fine but this is totally true:
PLEASE NOTE: The Pro-Fit Glass Screen Protector is layered with a visible dot matrix grid over the display area which is essential to achieving full cover screen protector (please see images for more info)

Yes. I know. What I mean is that by default it optimizes every app. In my opinion it would be better if by default it didn't optimize any apps, and then let me select the ones I want optimized.
It's not very practical to have to disable the feature every time you install an app you don't want optimized.

Been looking around for a decent tempered glass screen protector and it looked like the best (or "less worse", maybe?) option.

Ok, just received mine and installed. That's way better than what I expected reading reviews.
Matrix is barely visible. The rainbow effect is only visible with screen off/full black. So, no big deal.
TBH I don't think Orzly are tempered glass by the way.
Installing it was easy enough thanks for the glue being only around the black border. Not sure if that's going to be a good thing over time.
Not the best screen protectors I've ever tried but, in the end, price seems reasonable so far given the overall quality.

With it only having adhesive around the outer perimeter, do you have any trouble with the glass sliding around or letting in dust? I guess you won't know about the latter until you've used it for longer...any words of wisdom welcomed.

So far, I'm more concerned about the fingerprints to be honest... not sure if that's a tactic in order to prevent people seeing the matrix

So, overall, quite satisfied.
It looks like the screen on my new G6 is slightly off to the left. There appears to be a smaller gap to the frame on that side. Anyone else seeing this on theirs? My Pixel XL screen runs all the way to the edges so I have no other reference.

I completely understand, but it's my OCD that's also making me think twice about going for the exchange. I'm sure you are all too aware of the time it takes to get the phone set up just right: apps, sounds, accounts, launcher, behaviors, and all the other crap. I checked images from G6 reviews online and a few seem to match mine. Well hell, I'll wait and see if anyone else sees it on theirs. My eye keeps going to the edges now. Thanks for the feedback. It's nice to know I'm nuts but not alone.

No, the screen doesn't reach all the way to the bezel and the case is even further out.
