So my just Galaxy J3 broke (it was inevitable, really), and I need a new phone now. The Mi Note 2 seems to have the bang for my buck, but I want to know if it will work well on Verizon. The cellular bands seem compatible, but has anyone else used this phone with this carrier, and what settings did they use to make it work?
Hi !
I've searched a little bit on the web and seems there is a thread oppened exactly on this subject on reddit.
You can give it a look here.
As i can see, if you have the old sim card that has been on an accepted phone, you are good to go !
I advice you to keep searching on the web for answers if no one from here is on Verizon.
Have a good day!

I'll skip all the details but I bought a very nice, very expensive phone from china that ended up only connecting at edge speeds. It supported the correct frequencies but they were swapped, its data freq was voice on my carrier and vice versa. I switched carriers 3x to no avail. In desperation I just ran to walmart and bought a Galaxy Express i437 then sent the Chinese phone back at a loss.
Well, big mistake. The phones great, it suits my needs though it was a bit expensive. But AT&Ts network is complete **** where I live. I can't receive calls in my own house! I've it flashed with the latest version of Cyanogen... which actually helped my signal... but its still not enougn..
1. Can I switch to another carrier? Sprint seems to have a good network here according to the maps and people I've talked to.
2. Where can I find info on frequencies. I'm a pretty technical guy but I am baffled by these frequencies. I don't want to get stranded with no phone for another week and I dont want to blow another $300 on a phone that may or may not work!
3. Do I need to do anything to "jailbreak" my phone? Or does jailbreak just mean root? I'm suprised how little info I could find on the subject.
Yes, I do realize that I'll probably just get flamed with links to FAQs, but that's what I'm looking for! If someone just knows the answers to my questions, that'd be great to.
Hi everyone,
Sorry if this is in the wrong place (this is my first post) but it seems like the only place after 10 minutes of looking around that might actually be of some assistance.
I bought a phone from Melanesia that claimed to be a N9000 and has that model number printed on the back in the battery compartment. When i check the settings it states that it is a U9000 and upon doing some research have found that it is a international phone that dose not have 4g capability.
What im trying to find out is if there is a way i can transplant a 4g antenna into this phone to make it pick up the signal range i am wanting or if i just need to Root the thing and try to get it to do what i want from there. I am also considering both options since that seems more feasible
Any support you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I like the phone its just too slow for me on the connections to view Reddit or Youtube.
Thanks again,
Tman
You have a clone... It's not a real samsung device. No one will be able to help you here.

So my question is quite simple, and before I get flamed, yes I have tried searching. I don't think I'm typing the correct sequence of words if there is already something on this. I never post obviously, I normally creep and derive my answers that way. Obvious again that I've been here since 2012
My question is if there is a way / guide to overwrite/reprogram the phone with the AT&T firmware and software and replace the Verizon that is currently on the device. I brought the phone over from Verizon to AT&T and there are just a couple complications that are just a bother and Just over it.
I would appreciate any guidance and information any of you could provide on the subject.

I don't know if you can from a user stand point but when I was shopping around t-mobile store told me they would copy their firmware onto the phone so I could try their network. You may need to go to a store and talk to someone.
Since Verizon is CDMA and AT&T is GSM, I am not sure a simple firmware update is all that is needed to switch.

That's what I thought but they insisted they could do it. Maybe since there is a Sim slot it's easier on the the 3's.
Years ago you could almost swap sim cards and be good. Idk about it anymore. I think you would have to take all the system files/partitions and the radio and swap them for the carriers. Im sure someone else whos more, but i think it would be unreasonably hard to do.

This thread is moving to T-Mobile, but the concept is the same for AT&T

i believe that some services would work as the phone has some radios in it for the att bands, but you would be better off trading for an att version. swappa has stuff like that all the time to straight trade
Getting service to work and getting 4Glte was no issue. That just required me to manually input APNs that were AT&T specific and presto I have service and all that jazz. My issue is a couple of other small things that really aren't big hut just thst, annoying. That's why I was seeing about the software and firmware being flashed into the device.
Hey guys, I've been out of the loop for a few years when it comes to root and roms. My past experience was with my S3, but after that broke I got an S5 and never had the ability to do much of anything with it. Well it finally broke yesterday and I happened to see one of the local Best Buys carrying the G935U developer edition. Picked it up, went to Verizon to get a new even smaller sim, and have been browsing XDA trying to figure out how to properly go about it for this particular model on the Verizon network.
So here I am now looking through way too many different forums for the G935(variants) and a bit overwhelmed.
TL;DR
Please point me in the right direction and/or share links with me
This should hopefully be helpful - http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...de-flashing-sm-935u-firmware-verizon-t3415145
I'm running into a lot of issues, even just trying to use MMS on the phone, the APN settings are all empty and un editable.
Also to be clear, I have an unlocked developer edition GS7E and trying to use it on Verizon network and maybe root/rom it for some better battery life
EDIT:
Got the MMS working and APN straightened out. Was an issue on V's side with activation not going all the way thought.
Ok, I hope this isn't a totally stupid question, but here goes. My trusty old Galaxy S Blaze is, well, getting old, and I've decided after much research that I want a Galaxy S5. I'm also thinking to switch my carrier from Tmobile to Straight Talk, but would like to piggyback off the Verizon network as I've heard many good things about them. Tmobile is driving me nuts with dropped calls, coverage that sucks, etc.
Soooo....
Part One: can I use my Blaze's sim card in an new unlocked Verizon S5 that I may buy through ebay?
Part Two: Can I then take said new phone and hook up with Straight Talk? I'm just unsure because of the whole GSM/CDMA thing.
Thank you in advance!
