Anybody using an AT&T sim in the US? In theory it should work but only getting 3G (and a NO SERVICE notice on the upper left of the home screen although it makes/receives calls)
Checked the APN settings and although it defaulted to the tablet ones, the smartphone ones were there and didn’t work either.

The "No Service" appears to be for the second (embedded) SIM. If both SIM were working, you would get two network names...

I just entered the IMEI number for a spare iPhone 5 I had lying around for AT&T. It makes ATT think your device is 4G capable a reboot of my Gemini and I had 4G simple as that.
Thanks

I recently visited the farm of a friend of mine in Wales. Cellphone reception there is notoriously bad , but the only spot where one usually can get reception did nor work with the gemini, nor did walkoing up on the nearest hillock, so I assume that either the transponding circuits are weak, the radio is deliberately throttled in order to save current, or the aerial is not well thought out.
Nothing to do with the carrier, since my ancient Samsung phone usually works fine.

In my opinion it works very well, i attach a screenshot of a speedtest of mine made 1 minute ago.
I only use data connection like 1/4 of the time. But with that time I have no complaints.
not bad at all. Been using this since 10 months now and havent faced the issue with signal strength unless I am in poor network range. If the network is proper, dont see any issue here with the quality at all

Yeah that's nice. I usually browse almost all the time on HSPA, in that screenshot i had 4G on to achieve the best result that was possible
It's great
Really impressed with cellular reception and call quality
Once i visited to a desert area of Rajasthan and there is very common problem that there you can't find network inside home but honor 6x was having network everywhere no matter indoor or outdoor and it was able to make call and i can surf internet while others just wait for network.
Best in class i would say
Works better than my cable WiFi on data and call strength is very good.
Just got this device. Cellular strength is a bit better than my retired Galaxy J5.
not good signal reception in my area.so.....
Cellular strength is ok. Not that strong, not that weak.
Reception on the 6X can be a bit spotty at times.

WiFi strength, range, and throughput

I have noticed that the WIFI signal I am receiving is significantly better than I received on the Samsung S8. I had a WIFI dead spot at my office with the S8. I now have a much better WIFI (and 4g) signal than I did with the S8 in the same spot.
I've had the opposite experience. My s8 plus would get both bands ofy wifi anywhere in the house. The Moto can only get my 2.4 band unless I'm in the same room as router or directly below it downstairs.
I am personally having issues with mine, it will stay on for a bit than just reset with about a 15 second delay in it..
No complaints here. For those having issues I'm hoping a driver or kernel update might correct the problem.
Mine drops connection occasionally when it is less than 2 bars of strength.
Not sure if this is preferable since all my other devices hang onto the weakest signal which doesn't work instead of dropping connection and use LTE.
was connect with 4G+
as long as I unlock BL and root, It's never go 4G+ again, any advice?..

This is my second Huawei and the WiFi strength is definitely lower than other phones. I found this a problem on my mate 10. Time will tell how much of a problem this is for me. It only happens when further away from router so won't affect anyone in a smaller house. Wil do some comparison s tomorrow with my HTc u11+ which I know has a better strength at distance.
Major issues!
I love the phone yet there a few major issues. WiFi signal is so poor that it constantly switches to data even when I am standing 1 meter from my router! I noticed that when I leave a place where I was connected to WiFi and the phone switches to data, when I am back it just won't connect to any WiFi. Besides GPS is a complete mess, it won't work with running apps for instance and WhatsApp quick-reply from the dropdown menu won't work at all. Any ideas/solutions?
No major issues here., In fact the range, signal and download speeds are much better compared to my previous Samsung.. my router is from Huawei as well so I guess they work nice together.

P20 pro model that I'm using was tested with 177Mbps upload speed, using speedtest app. This was in a public place, as my home connection is only 0.5Mbps for uploads. Google Photo cloud was effectively using only 70Mbps (not sure if Huawei or Google's fault). At home, the phone uploads images, but 4K video (even small 100MB files) don't even upload. One has to repeatedly press upload and restart Photos app to attempt to get video uploaded. So, either P20 pro or Google is currently creating a problem with 0.5Mbps upload lines. With an old Samsung S6, I could always upload automatically at home - it just took some time.
Signal strength appears good. No major issues so far, compared to cheaper Lenovo tablets and Archos type phones - which often cannot connect to WiFi without a perfect signal...

My WIFi performances are identical to other WiFi devices I own. GPS is probably better than my previous Samsung S7, both as lock-speed and as capability to keep it locked in bad situation (between very tall buildings, or very close to mountains
WiFi and hotspot working well. No issues .
V 131 (India )
Wifi strong (Tmo) not problem with GPS. google maps loads fast.
I come from Galaxy S7 Edge with andrid 6.0.1.
So I tested wi-fi strenght and the difference between the 2 phones is great for Huawei P20 Pro.
With galaxy S7 my throughput was maximum 3-4mb/sec with the phone closely to the router. And 600-900kb/s far from router.
Huawei reach 10mb/s both closely and next router. Goes down to 2-3mb/s far from the router.
Great difference !
I actually have really strong wifi, coming from i7 that was spotty here and now I'm rocking great coverage
Extremely disappointed by my P20 Pro Wifi - when to a guest house, abroad over the last weekend - 3 nights - 2 days - I was unable to use the WiFi for some reason.
All other devices - laptop, iPhoneSE, Huawei Y3 and Xiomi Mi5 had no problem whatsoever, only on my P20 Pro I was getting all the time that "Internet is not available on this WiFi", and only seldomly it was available and I was able to browse some few minutes and then again - internet is becoming unavailable.
It drove me crazy!
I did try all tricks in the book - forget wifi, enable/disable wifi, WiFi+ enable/disable, phone reboot, clear phone cash even, set IP and DNS manually as per the settings I got from my laptop - still the same!
In the end I gave up, bought a big mobile data bundle and switched off the WiFi.
Attached a screenshot telling me I have to speak to the network admin.
Only thing I thought of but couldn't find the option is to set the WiFi to be 2.4 Ghz only, does someone know how that is done?
Back home - all is back to normal - both home and work WiFi is working fine.
Anybody with similar experience? Did you manage to resolve it? I was on the first Pie (and got an update yesterday).
I have had really good performance with the P20 Pro on my 5Ghz wifi network.
................
I have the p20 lite and theres definitely a difference in signal strength between my phone and other phones put next to each other. The mobile network reception is lower, to a point where the other phones get good signal and I have none. Same with the WiFi. Is there a way to make the strength to receive better?

Interesting, I just got EMUI 10.0 for my P20 pro and ran a wifi benchmark. It seems like wifi is about 20% more efficient than with EMUI 9.1 for me.

Despite what some online opinion says, CELLULAR VOICE CALL (VIA SIM) DOES NOT WORK in the LTE version
I have tried and tested this function already, and I tried downloading a dialing apk app from Google Play without any luck (i.e. calling out becomes automatically disconnected in the dialing apk app)

Don't know about others, but good for me and same like my pervious device.
I had problems with the wifi, it showed not enough strength although other devices in same room could receive without problems. I took it to the store and they gave me a new one. Even with the new I still have problems with the wifi connection
I am noticing that I cannot reach the speed specified by the manufacturer. I did some speed tests and it's just 24Mbit/s. My Moto G4 Plus was much better, with my wife's cell phone that is a Moto G5 I can reach the maximum contracted speed that is 35mbit/s
I'm a little disappointed with this performance. Using the 5Ghz Wifi network I was able to reach 33Mbit/s which is practically the contracted value.
WiFi transfer rate is very unstable and low.
In the description of the connection informs that the network speed is 72Mbit/s
May be my router some incompatibility, I will do tests on other networks. At work we have a link of 300Mbit/s, my old cell phone used to reach 75Mbit/s Down and Up.
It seems that the problem is some incompatibility between the router and the phone. I tested here at the company where I work and the routers are Cisco and the speed is normal, just like my old Moto G4 Plus.
